EU makes YouTube pay up - but how will this affect labels and musicians?

Youtube is among the video streaming sites that will be forced to pay musicians and record companies more under new EU rules.

The European Union has announced reforms to copyright laws which will make streaming sites pay artists more fairly for works hosted on their sites. The music industry has been critical of YouTube in the past for failing to pay enough for content.

So how will these laws benefit artists, and will it damage YouTube as a platform? Matt Cox spoke to Elliot Chalmers of Independent Music Law Advice to find out more.
