Quarterbacks, and to a lesser extent kickers, are just different because you only need one. If you need one, you may have to reach, and if you already have one, there is no need to take another one even if one is the BPA when you pick.

Bill Polian used to say if you could bat 560 in the draft you were doing very well. The problem with ignoring need is that you can't be 100% confident that you know who will turn out to have been the best player at your pick.
