A recruitment drive for new doctors and nurses at Leicester's Hospitals isn't in response to a system critical incident that was declared last week.

Rachel Williams, the Deputy Head of Operations and Emergency Care at Leicester's Hospitals, has told Capital the jobs are for the new £43.3 million Emergency Floor.

The multi-million pound development, which is expected to combine the Emergency Department, Urgent Care Centre and Admissions Units, is expected to officially open in Spring this year.

It'll be the first frailty friendly emergency floor in Europe and will include a designated dementia room, rooms with en-suites and state of the art resus facilities.

The new Emergency floor will reduce any overcrowding and should give patients and staff a better hospital experience,

There's an open day at the Leicester Royal Infirmary on Saturday 21 January between 10-4pm.
