Dr. Tonia M. Compton received her B.A. in History and Political Science from Columbia College. She completed a Master of Arts in History at Texas A&M University and Ph.D. in History at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where she also earned a certificate in Nineteenth-Century Studies. At UNL Compton was a Presidential Fellow and president of the Graduate Student Association. She also served as president of the National Association of Graduate and Professional Students. She has been teaching at Columbia College since 2009. She is also working on projects about Luella St. Clair Moss, president emeritus of Columbia (Christian) College and the campaign for woman suffrage in Missouri.
