In these times of austerity where we see belt-tightening and all sorts of cuts to public services, are we on the verge of 'generic chaplaincy' in hospitals? That a hospital chaplain might somehow be able to cater for the myriad of differing spiritual needs a patient might have. Are we in danger of losing the 'Catholic' hospital chaplain? Bishop Paul Mason, our healthcare bishop, was a chaplain for many years. Here's his take on Catholic chaplaincy.
