Should Stonehenge be lit at night?

A debate has opened up over whether or not Stonehenge should be lit up at night. Lady Mimi Pakenham wrote a letter to the Times arguing that it should while Clive Ruggles, professor of Archaeoastronomy at the University of Leicester, is not so keen on the idea. #history #stonehenge #historicmonument

This is a proposterous proposal in view of the current climate of concern about climate change and energy wastage. Light at night should only be applied sparingly on a needs must basis, where needed, when needed, in the correct amounts, and using technology that minimises damage to the environment. Lighting up buildings is definitely not useful, and only satisfies the vanity of ignorant people with little or no concern for the environment. The environmental consequences of light pollution are now well established, so anything that adds to it should not be permitted.
