BBC Surrey - Report on Roads - 28th March 2017

Roads are in such a bad state that they could close within 5 years an Ashphalt Industry Alliance (AIA) report found.

According to the report the cause is due to an ageing roads network, decades of underfunding, increased traffic and harsher winters. Those roads identified as being in poor condition "will not be fit for purpose in five years' time" and some could close, researchers warned.

BBC Radio #Surrey covered this as their lead story this morning (28th March 2017) and spoke to the Cabinet Member responsible for Highways at Surrey County Council Cllr John Furey.
