French Elections: Scenario Analysis - 7IM

Apr 21, 2017, 10:39 AM

Voters will go to the polls on Sunday for the first round of the French presidential elections. Out of 11 candidates the only four could be considered as contenders - Emmanuel Macron - an independent centrist, Marine Le Pen - anti-EU, anti-immigration candidate, François Fillon, a conservative from the centre-right Republican party, Jean-Luc Mélenchon, a hard-left candidate, anti-EU, anti-immigration.

Polls put Macron in the lead, followed by Le Pen… but history shows polls could go horribly wrong.

Who would head to the round 2 of the French elections on May 7? What if Le Pen and Melenchon come out victorious in the first round? Will the EUR pairs and European stocks take a hit? Is there a scenario in which the European stocks could go to the moon?

Listen to Ben Kumar, Investment manager at 7IM, discuss possible outcomes of the French elections this Sunday and the impact it could have on the financial markets. He is joined by Presenter Zak Mir.

The panel also talks about UK snap election and the action in the Pound.
