Can a Mother cancel her own Mother’s day?

Honda of Westport Couples Court: Jessica & Brian's mom's come to the house every year for Mother’s Day, they don't get along & it's awkward. Even though Jess is a mother herself she wants to cancel. Why should she cook & entertain when it ends up weird? Can she cancel, or does she have to suck it up for the rest of the family?
