Deaths at Spreckels Mansion

In Sight explores mysteries, true crime, and forgotten history. This is our first birthday episode and the topic was voted on by YOU, our listeners. In this episode, Charlie and Ali discuss the mysterious deaths at the Spreckels mansion. Max Shacknai, age 6, and Rebecca Zahou, his dad’s girlfriend, died within days of each other, and as far as the police are concerned it is case closed. Max died in a tragic accident, and Rebecca, depressed and possibly consumed with guilt, took her own life. But the families of Max and Rebecca are left with questions, and it becomes a battle of the experts.
