The Sparks Police Department has issued an Amber Alert in connection with a car jacking this (Thursday) afternoon. Officials with the department initially reported that a 75 year-old woman was carjacked around 2:00 this afternoon by a man who had an 8 year old girl with him. The woman had just parked her maroon Nissan Altima with the license plate 9-2-F-4-2-4, when the man walked up and demanded money and her car keys. Sparks Police Lieutenant Greta Woyciewhowsky (Woy-chow-ski) says the victim told police the child initially refused to get into the car with the suspect. The lieutenant says there are no local reports of a missing child of the description of this girl, however it was determined that an amber alert should be issued regardless: The carjacker is described as being black, 28 to 35 years old old, with a thin mustache and thin, 6 foot build. He was wearing a dark blue shirt with a Dallas Cowboys emblem on the front and blue jeans. The child is described as wearing pig tails and dark yellow dress. The suspect was last seen driving north down Pyramid.
