(August 1, 2017)-  An impaired driver who struck a business on Del Prado last night is now in Lee County Jail.

Last night just before 11:00 PM, Cape Coral Police responded to a vehicle versus building crash at the Dollar Tree located at 1631 Del Prado Boulevard S.

Officers arrived to find a silver Buick had driven completely through the glass front entrance.  The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was identified as 48 year-old Scott C. Ciak of Cape Coral.

Ciak was checked out by medics and cleared at the scene.  Officers observed Ciak showing signs of impairment- he appeared incoherent, had difficulty maintaining his balance, had mumbled speech, and was sweating heavily.

Once officers concluded the crash investigation, they conducted a DUI investigation which revealed that Ciak was, in fact, impaired.  Ciak was arrested and transported to the Cape Coral Police Department for processing.  When a breath test showed a .000 result, officers had a department Drug Recognition Expert respond to conduct a Drug Impairment Evaluation.  At which point, Ciak declined to participate any further.

Ciak was charged with DUI, and DUI w/ Property Damage and was transported to Lee County Jail.
