(August 15, 2017) - Cape Coral Police detectives tracked down a man wanted for a June firearm theft and subsequent threatening of a witness in the case.

On June 24, 2017, Cape Coral Police patrol officers took a report of a stolen .22 Ruger rifle from a house party at a home in the 1900 block of Four Mile Cove Parkway. Over the next few weeks, the investigation identified the suspect as Tyson Dyer (DOB: 4-15-98) and extensive attempts were made to locate and contact Dyer.

On July 13, 2017, a witness in the case contacted Cape Coral Police and said she was receiving threatening text messages from Dyer due to his belief that she had identified him as the thief. Probable cause for Dyer's arrest was developed for both the firearm theft and tampering with a witness. On August 14, 2017, Detective Jones with the Property Crimes Unit and Detective Fordham with the US Marshals Task Force located Dyer and placed him under arrest. He was transported to the Lee County Jail.
