The Bangladesh Camps

Season 1, Episode 16,   Oct 20, 2017, 07:43 AM

Facing persecution and death, over half a million Rohingya have made the journey from their homes in Rakhine state in Myanmar to find safety in Bangladesh. They’ve crossed all sorts of terrain, paid for passage across the River Naf and made their way to the shores of Bangladesh. Those who made the journey now live in overcrowded and makeshift camps ridden with disease and lacking adequate, food, water and sanitation.

To find out more about life in the camps, we’re drawing on the perspectives of data analyst and GIS mapper Pablo Gallego of Xchange.org. He’ll be telling us about the kinds of things he saw, heard, smelt and felt as he surveyed the camps for the first time.
