November 3 | In this pilot for a new series – The Cycling Podcast Brevet – Richard Moore meets Mark Beaumont, who recently smashed the world record, pedalling around the globe in 78 days.

In doing so he rode 240 miles a day, every day, for almost three months – a remarkable feat that must surely be at the outer limits of what is humanly possible.

Two weeks after finishing Beaumont could reflect on the physical and mental toll. “I loved it,” he tells us, “but I suffered more than I’d ever want to suffer again.”
