A group calling itself ‘The concerned citizens of South Sudan’ has left for Nairobi, Kenya to meet with former army chief of general staff General Paul Malong.

Presidential spokesperson, Ateny Wek Ateny confirms that the delegation of more than 10 people left on Monday morning after getting approval from President Salva Kiir.

“It is not a governmental delegation but is a delegation of concerned citizens,” Ateny clarified.

He said that the group headed Dr. Francis Mading Deng will hear from Gen. Paul Malong and convince him to return to Juba peacefully.

Presidential spokesperson Ateny Wek last week said the former army chief of General staff had rebelled against the government.
