Royal Ascot have banned male race goers who don’t wear socks - is it ok for men to their show their ankles? #BBCNolan

For decades Ascot races has been renowned for its strict dress code and each year the annual Royal Ascot style guide clearly advises racegoers on how to ensure that their attire is appropriate. This year event organisers have stressed that all male attendees must wear socks with their shoes or they may be denied entry. Shirts and ties must be worn as bow ties and cravats are banned.

So is this following tradition or is this over the top?
