Chris Sutton & Brian Deane 27th March 2018
In The Ref Show studio this week Alan Biggs was joined by former Premier League winner Chris Sutton alongside the scorer of the first ever goal in the Premier League Brian Deane to round up a weekend of international football as well the action from Leagues 1 and 2.
Gareth Southgate's England side were victorious on Friday evening with a 1-0 win over Holland after Jesse Lingard scored his first senior international goal. Should England's win have been more comfortable when Marcus Rashford was brought down by a combination of Jeroen Zoet and defender Matthijs de Ligt?
The panel also look forward to Tuesday night's encounter with Italy, a game that will feature the use of the much debated VAR.
The guys also broaden the shows usual horizon by delving into the world of cricket after a controversial weekend for the Australian Men's cricket team. Captain Steve Smith said the team's "leadership group" had a plan, carried out by Cameron Bancroft, to tamper with the ball to "get an advantage". Chris, Brian and Alan give their view.
Elsewhere in the Football League ex Blackburn Rovers striker Chris Sutton discussed his former side's chances in the League 1 promotion chase whilst also looking back at referee John Brooks who took charge of Rochdale's 1-1 draw with Scunthorpe.
