Darren Harper and Joe Redmond from Proper Sport have teamed up to bring you a brand new podcast by resurrecting an old one.

Yes, the Football Verdict is back and we're going to spend the next couple of months looking at the World Cup in depth by speaking to ex-pro's, journalists, fans and more.

This week on the show we have ex-England goalkeeper Nigel Martyn who talks about Southgate's team selection including the controversy surrounding the decision to drop Joe Hart completely from the squad.

Another ex-England international, Carlton Palmer is also on the show, and he's feeling quite optimistic ahead of Russia 2018 and even thinks we could run ze German's pretty close if we met them in the semi-finals.

Elsewhere we also spoke to journalist Joe Townsend the moment he stepped out of Gareth Southgate's press conference after naming his squad, ITV Sport correspondent Gabriel Clarke who chats about the upcoming tournament and a new film he's directed, and we take a look at some of the odds and the best bets with Alan Alger from Betway, who also has some tips which Joe is keen to get on after not winning a bet all season.
