Episode 27: The Point After

Nov 30, 2018, 12:33 AM

In the 27th episode of the podcast, the girls are joined by Sideline Sass favorite and former defensive Stanford player Jordan “Sixth Man” Watkins as they break down the end of the college football regular season, the championship games this weekend and the potential College Football Playoff implications and outcomes that could arise. The focus of this episode centers around special teams, because #KickersArePeopleToo.

First, the girls are joined by former Utah kicker Andy Phillips, who helps break down the Utes season and the Pac-12 championship game. He also walks Kaleigh through the current state of both college football and NFL kicking and assures Emily he can help train her to kick a 30-yard field goal. Andy talks about his path to football and his time as a Utah Ute. We also learn about his friendship with former Utah punter Tom Hackett and he tells us about their podcast, the Special Forces Gang Podcast. He also gets to the bottom of why Emily jinxes kickers, throwing it back all the way to the origin story.

Later in the podcast, the girls and Jordan are joined by former Stanford kicker Conrad Ukropina who also chimes in on the current state of football kicking. Ukropina weighs in on Stanford’s season, and the state of special teams on the Farm. He also shares his favorite Big Game memories and throws out his thoughts and prediction for this year’s Cal vs. Stanford Battle for the Axe.
