Susan Yoshihara, senior vice president for research at the Catholic Family & Human Rights Institute, in re: The one-child policy of 1978-1979 has destroyed the prospects for generations: accelerated demographic decline till at least the end of this century. There was no reason; they did it because they could; it was endlessly cruel. They’ve changed gender ratios and many other factors. Now on a one-way route downward. For years Beijing claimed 1.8 replica, same as US; that was known to be too high. This is a country with no social security, so we predict a humanitarian disaster. There have been 330 million abortions, one of every six in the world; one for every two live births. Many were not voluntary; a semi-genocidal human rights intrusion. . . . Perhaps for the first time in human history China may not be the world’s most populous nation – it may be India. China is losing its increase of working-age persons, whereas the US is increasing. https://www.cnn.com/2019/01/07/asia/china-population-decline-study-intl/index.html
