Victor Davis Hanson, Hoover; in re: A WSJ article on masculinity – “as a disorder that must be corrected.” Why is this vilified? Because they—we—created this rich, comfortable Western society. My daughters do not want non-masculine men. They hold that masculinity and femininity are complementary. No one wants pyjama boy. “Traditional masculinity, marked by Stoicism, competitiveness, dominance and aggression, is on the whole harmful.” An elite construct! A lot of Americans want their husbands, brothers fathers, to be strong. These are university creatures. There are a lot of [rough] jobs that are normally and suitably held by men. “Sexist, racist, homophobic” – why does everyone want to cone to the US, founded by European chauvinists, racist white men? If all the other systems are superior, why don't people worldwide flock to them? Elites mock the very system from which they’re deriving benefits. Next time he’s in a car that breaks down in a snowstorm and he’s almost freezing, he calls a tow truck, and a white man with a high school education comes out to hook up his car and tow it to safety, I’d like to tell him he’s toxic.
