Prof D. Watkins is Professor of Leadership and Organisational Change at IMD Lausanne in Switzerland. He has been a Professor at The Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, The Harvard Business School and INSEAD in France. He is one of the leading experts on accelerating transitions and is the author of two highly relevant books for leaders in transition. 1) The First 90 Days – Critical Success Strategies for New Leaders at all levels 2) Master your next move – The Leader’s guide to successfully Navigating Major Career Transitions (Recently published by Harvard Business School Press).
In our conversation, we speak about his perspectives around ROI of Transition Support for a leader who is moving in and the timelines that we should bear in mind when we think about transitions. We then spent time discussing three different types of transitions which are covered in details in his recently published book (Master your Next Move) – 1) CXO to CEO transition 2) Leading former peers and 3) On Boarding a new Leader.
