Democracy and the EU

Oct 05, 11:01 AM

The EU is the most democratic intergovernmental organisation in the world. Join current and former Labour MEPs to find out why - and also what needs to change.

This week hosts Mike Buckley and Emma Burnell are joined by Jude Kirton-Darling MEP, Seb Dance MEP, John Howarth MEP and former MEP Clare Moody to talk about the EU and democracy.

The EU gets a lot of flak for its supposed lack of democracy. In this episode our guests explain how EU democracy works, why the EU is by far the most democratic trade bloc and intergovernmental organisation in the world. We also talk about things that could and should be done to make the EU even more accountable to its citizens.
