Is there a work ethic in Britain?

Debate on the Steven Nolan show on BBC Radio 5 between Neil Cafferky, member of Unite and the Socialist Party and Sylvia Tidy-Harris. An owner of a call centre claimed to be shocked when he advertised jobs paying £100 a week plus bonuses and applicants refused to turn up. He explanation for this was; "These are people who are so morally twisted that they would rather stay on the dole than work…”. Strangely he didn't comment on the morality of offering people £3.30 an hour basic! He questioned whether a work ethic still existed in Britain. This was the subject of the debate between Sylvia and I.
