“I look over my shoulder and feel the support”

It’s a year since Greater Manchester’s Mayor Andy Burnham, responded so passionately to the Government’s lack of financial support, as the city region was placed under Tier 3 restrictions.

This is Andy’s second appearance on We Built This City.  He and Lisa reflect on that moment, in front of the TV cameras, on the steps of Central Library in Manchester.

Since Andy and Lisa last spoke, he has been voted in as Greater Manchester’s Mayor for a second time.

You’ll hear about the challenges he’s grappled with during the past 18 months, his love and vision for the city and you’ll also hear about the music that’s helped him through lockdown too. Including one very Mancunian Johnny Marr moment that will stay in his memory forever!

Your host, Lisa Morton, started PR company Roland Dransfield in 1996, one month after the fateful IRA bomb that tore apart the city centre.  From that point, the business, and its team members, have been involved in helping to support the creation of Modern Manchester – across regeneration, business, charity, leisure and hospitality, sport and culture.

To celebrate the 25 years that Roland Dransfield has spent creating these bonds, Lisa is gathering together some of her Greater Mancunian ‘family’ and will be exploring how they have created their own purposeful relationships with the best place in the world.
