SportsPro chief executive Nick Meacham and senior content manager Chris Stone also discuss BT’s joint venture with Warner Bros Discovery and react to the Fifa-EA Sports fallout.

This week’s StreamTime Podcast sees Nick Meacham catch up with Ryan Spoon, the chief operating officer of blockchain-based fantasy sports game developer Sorare.

In part one, Meacham and SportsPro senior content manager Chris Stone react to the confirmation of BT’s joint venture with Warner Bros Discovery and discuss what it means for the UK sports broadcast market, while the pair also cover the end of Fifa’s video game partnership with EA Sports.

Then, Spoon joins Meacham to talk about the growth of Sorare, which now boasts partnerships with more than 230 teams and leagues and which in September was valued at US$4.3 billion following a US$680 million funding round.

Hot on the heels of the company’s first deal outside of soccer, Spoon also lifts the lid on Sorare’s new partnership with Major League Baseball (MLB) and opens up about its plans to expand into other sports.
