Johnson: Don't despair over gangs
How can gang culture and gang violence in London be tackled?
Boris Johnson, the mayor of London, told listeners of BBC Radio 4 Today's programme not to "despair" over crime levels following a series of reports from Andrew Hosken.
A "great deal of work is being done" and levels of crime and murder are "coming down", he said.
He told Sarah Montague that it is "vital" that stop and search is being done "sensitively and in accordance with the law".
"These kids need proper education and the opportunity for a job," he said.
