The case I have for you today is one that I actually just found. It's a case that the police
are asking for the public's help in identifying a hitchhiker from West Virginia.
The Pennsylvania State Police in Yongentown, Pennsylvania are asking for the public's help
to identify a woman who died in a car crash on March 2, 1986. They believe that the woman may have
been a hitchhiker from North Central West Virginia. At the time of the crash, the truck driver was
identified. His passenger, however, has still yet to be identified. The truck driver's family
had no idea who the woman was. The police and family believe that the woman may have been a
hitchhiker. The truck crash happened 50 miles south of Yongentown, Pennsylvania, not far from the
West Virginia State line. Police believe that the driver was headed from Sparrows Point, Maryland
to Richmond, Kentucky, which today would be an eight hour and 12 minute drive and roughly 553 miles.
The driver is said to have no scheduled stops on the trip, so police wasn't sure why he was in Fayette
County, Pennsylvania at the time of the crash. According to records, the unidentified woman
was not with the truck driver when he left Sparrows Point, Maryland. The unidentified woman
was a passenger in the tractor trailer at the time of the crash. She had no form of identification
on her, leading the investigators to believe that she may have been a hitchhiker. The Pennsylvania
State Police think that she may have been between the ages of 30 and 45, with brown eyes, medium
length, brown hair, standing at five feet and four inches tall, weighing around 170 pounds.
Records from the national missing and unidentified person system indicate that the
woman was dressed in jeans, a t-shirt, white sneakers, and was carrying $333 in cash with a
pack of Marlboro cigarettes. For any additional information, please check out the website of
the national missing and unidentified person system. If you or anyone you know have any
information that could help identify the unidentified woman, please contact the Pennsylvania State
Police Union Town Station at 724-439-7111. If you find yourself enjoying Mountain State
