I’m Jess Riddel, senior Operations Analyst from the city of St. Petersburg. Here to talk to you about the Sunrise St. Pete Initiative from the city Sunrise. St. Pete is a city of St. Pete's Initiative for its allocation of community development block grant disaster recovery funds, or C-D-B-G-D-R funds from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, or hud. The City of St. Pete will receive about $160 million in C-D-B-G-D-R funds to support long-term recovery efforts from the 2023. Hurricane Adalia and the 2024 storm, Helene. And just a note on that, HUD uses a formula to determine allocations, and so they're the ones who prescribe that we receive funds specifically for hurricanes, Adalia and Helene. And our allocation did not include Hurricane Milton. So that question has come up. Did you mean Helene and Milton? No, we meant Adalia and Helene. And that's prescribed by hud. I also wanna note that this is a really big deal for our city because we are only one of two cities in Florida to receive a direct allocation. Mayor Walter's leadership and collaboration with our federal partners on recovery has allowed us this opportunity for additional direct recovery sources coming straight to us and straight to our residents, and we continue to work closely on federal and state levels to bring back resources like these to assist our residents in recovery. So Sunrise St. Pete will be a community driven effort to ensure that disaster recovery and mitigation efforts align with the city's vision for a more resilient and equitable future. And part of our process includes gathering public input along the way. And so we have some of those public input opportunities coming up next week that I'm here to talk to you about today. So please join us at Mayor Welch's City Hall on tour event on Wednesday, March 26th, where we will host a community popup for Sunrise St. Pete residents can learn more about the initiative. What are C-D-B-G-D-R funds? How can we spend them and provide their input right on the spot about what you think are priority activities that we can spend the C-D-B-G-D-R funds on. This event's Wednesday, March 26th at 5:30 PM at the Coliseum in St. Pete. We are also launching a resident survey where people can provide some initial input via an online survey. So stay tuned to our website, sunrise st pete.org, and our social media channels to access that survey and additional opportunities for providing your input. So again, all things Sunrise St. Pete can be found@sunrisestpete.org. And again, please join us on Wednesday, March 26th at 5:30 PM at the Coliseum to give your input in real time about how these funds should be used to address recovery needs in our city.
