<v Speaker 1>Wednesday, August twenty seven, twenty twenty five. You are listening
<v Speaker 1>to the Daily Dose podcast and I am your host,
<v Speaker 1>Clinton Daily, coming to you from the Myhigh City here
<v Speaker 1>in Denver, Colorado, and we are back for another week
<v Speaker 1>of talking sport with a dose of common sense. Hey,
<v Speaker 1>Happy Wednesday to you. I hope your week is going well,
<v Speaker 1>and I hope you and your family and your friends,
<v Speaker 1>everyone in your world is saying it's wrong. Going to
<v Speaker 1>help you right now. And hey, now it's getting serious kids.
<v Speaker 1>I mean, we've got college football full on starting tomorrow night.
<v Speaker 1>We've got college football on Friday night. We've got college
<v Speaker 1>football on Saturday, We've got college football on Sunday and
<v Speaker 1>on Monday. It is here. We've been waiting, basically sending
<v Speaker 1>a super Bowl for football to be back, and here
<v Speaker 1>it is, and I absolutely can't wait. In fact, I
<v Speaker 1>have got a jam packed show for you today. I've
<v Speaker 1>got a long show for you today, won't lie. It's
<v Speaker 1>a big one. Today on the show, we are once
<v Speaker 1>again going to be joined by president of the day
<v Speaker 1>O doos It Team. Yes, I'm talking about Big Rob.
<v Speaker 1>We are going to continue to preview the twenty twenty
<v Speaker 1>five college football season. Now, if you'll listen, last week
<v Speaker 1>we had a special guest, but then we duve into
<v Speaker 1>college football and we broke down the ACC and the
<v Speaker 1>Big Twelve. And this week we are going to finish
<v Speaker 1>things up. We will look at some of the contenders.
<v Speaker 1>We will look at some pretenders. We will be making
<v Speaker 1>our picks for who will be winning conference championships, who
<v Speaker 1>will be winning the Heisman Trophy, and yes, who will
<v Speaker 1>be making it to that college football playoff and who's
<v Speaker 1>going to be coming out on top when it is
<v Speaker 1>all said and done. In fact, we have so much
<v Speaker 1>to get to today, we need to jump back into
<v Speaker 1>our college football preview with Big Rob. Right now, let's
<v Speaker 1>move on from the Big Twelve and let's go to
<v Speaker 1>the Big Ten. The Oregon Ducks actually won the Big
<v Speaker 1>Ten last year. We kind of forgot that, didn't we.
<v Speaker 1>No one remembers it was Ohio State that rolled to
<v Speaker 1>the national title. Once again. The Big Ten is going
<v Speaker 1>to be stacked. And don't look now they have won
<v Speaker 1>two titles in a row. Can they do it again? Rob,
<v Speaker 1>I've got a few contenders here. We can we can
<v Speaker 1>go back and forth on this because I've got a
<v Speaker 1>few teams. I really like this Big Ten. It is stacked.
<v Speaker 1>But who's your Whore's your first team out of Big
<v Speaker 1>Ten you want to mention?
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, first team I mentioned in quite a few This
<v Speaker 2>is kind of deeper than I was expecting when I
<v Speaker 2>start going through it. But the first one I'm going
<v Speaker 2>to give you is Illinois. Yep. Last season ten and four.
<v Speaker 2>That was a little overshadowed by probably another team we'll
<v Speaker 2>talk about here soon, but they returned nineteen starters. I
<v Speaker 2>like the coach, former coach from Wisconsin, you know, so
<v Speaker 2>he knows his way around the Big Ten. And like
<v Speaker 2>I said, I just I think, you know, I have
<v Speaker 2>the good season. It's one of those program that's building.
<v Speaker 2>So I think, you know, another solid season, might not
<v Speaker 2>get to ten wins, but I think be riding out,
<v Speaker 2>you know, right around that number again. Yeah, so this
<v Speaker 2>is the team, you know, I'm going to keep my
<v Speaker 2>eye on. Don't think they have enough coming at all,
<v Speaker 2>but I like where they're going.
<v Speaker 1>No, I think they're dangerous. And you know, you talked
<v Speaker 1>about a team they went ten to three, they won
<v Speaker 1>the Citrus Bowl. They're a really physical team. They don't
<v Speaker 1>mind getting in the trenches and having a you know,
<v Speaker 1>just a rock fight right in your face. I wish
<v Speaker 1>they had a little bit better skill position kids, but
<v Speaker 1>they're dangerous because they're tough and they play defense. I mean,
<v Speaker 1>here's the other thing about about Illinois. That schedule isn't horrible.
<v Speaker 1>They get USC and Ohio State at home. I think
<v Speaker 1>Illinois got to get out of the gate quick. They
<v Speaker 1>get Duke in Indiana pretty early. Don't trip up to
<v Speaker 1>that Indiana team. If you do well, then you might
<v Speaker 1>be in a little bit of trouble. But I like Illinois.
<v Speaker 1>I think Illinois is a dangerous team that is a tough,
<v Speaker 1>physical football team. Yeah, I like them a lot.
<v Speaker 2>All right.
<v Speaker 1>I don't think this next team can win it all,
<v Speaker 1>but maybe I'm wrong. We'll see. The problem is that offense,
<v Speaker 1>it's not gonna be great, But that Michigan defense, it
<v Speaker 1>might once again be one of the best in the country.
<v Speaker 1>Head coach from Moore, he's taking that voluntary two game
<v Speaker 1>suspension for all that hardbob cheating stuff. But I think
<v Speaker 1>Michigan is going to be a problem. Schedules easier. They
<v Speaker 1>are not afraid of Ohio State like everyone else is.
<v Speaker 1>I think Michigan is a dangerous team. I just don't
<v Speaker 1>know if they're going to be able to score en points.
<v Speaker 1>But I like Michigan quite a bit.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, Michigan actually one of my contenders. Like I said,
<v Speaker 2>all the reasons you mentioned they avoid Penn State and Oregon.
<v Speaker 2>Think they're going to get a little bit better quarterback play,
<v Speaker 2>And then you mentioned the schedule. Eight of nine of
<v Speaker 2>their Big Ten opponents had a losing conference record last year.
<v Speaker 2>So I just think on the schedule alone, a little
<v Speaker 2>bit better QB play. They they're sneaking in there, so
<v Speaker 2>they're better than expected.
<v Speaker 1>So they're coneking for me. I agree. I think they're
<v Speaker 1>going to be very, very tough. Well, then I've only
<v Speaker 1>got two other contenders. What other team do you want
<v Speaker 1>to mention there, Rob, I.
<v Speaker 2>Got a couple if that's okay, Yeah, yeah, bring it.
<v Speaker 2>So the next one I wanted to throw out is Nebraska. Yeah.
<v Speaker 2>And the reason this is a year three for me rule.
<v Speaker 2>So if you look at Temple and Baylor, those are
<v Speaker 2>the years where he turned it around. I think Ryola
<v Speaker 2>is going to be a little bit better. At the
<v Speaker 2>end of last season, when Dana Holmgren's took over the
<v Speaker 2>play calling, he got a lot better. And also speaking
<v Speaker 2>back to the schedule, they avoid Ohio State and Oregon,
<v Speaker 2>so again not enough to you know, win the conference,
<v Speaker 2>I think, But again year three Matt rule could be
<v Speaker 2>a thing. So that's that's somebody I got my eye on.
<v Speaker 1>Absolutely agree, and and Nebraska could be very dangerous. I
<v Speaker 1>thought down the stretch they were getting better and better
<v Speaker 1>every week. Last year, schedules just got too tough coming
<v Speaker 1>into this year. Yeah, they might be a team to
<v Speaker 1>deal with. Who's your other team you want to mention?
<v Speaker 2>I got two more mentions for you. You already actually
<v Speaker 2>touched on one. Indiana the prized last season. They did
<v Speaker 2>good work in the portal, and I just like their
<v Speaker 2>coach Urt Signetti kind of gives me a Kiffin vibes.
<v Speaker 1>He doesn't care. He goes out to watch. Yeah, he
<v Speaker 1>goes out there. They're gonna put up points, he's gonna
<v Speaker 1>get good quarterback played. They're going to go out there
<v Speaker 1>and try to outscore you. Schedule will be a little
<v Speaker 1>bit more challenging, and they did lose a few people.
<v Speaker 1>But yeah, I think Indiana is definitely worth a mention.
<v Speaker 1>I just you know that that that Big Ten schedules
<v Speaker 1>is going to be very very tough. Who's your final mention?
<v Speaker 2>Then one more mentioned than my two contenders, and I'm
<v Speaker 2>going to say USC, it's still Lincoln Riley. Last season
<v Speaker 2>they lost five games by combined nineteen points, so where
<v Speaker 2>the record isn't great. You see, they were kind of
<v Speaker 2>close in there offense. You know, I think they'll be fine.
<v Speaker 2>It's always going to come back. You know the past
<v Speaker 2>few years is that defense can hold its own at all,
<v Speaker 2>which I don't think so. But again, I just think
<v Speaker 2>they're worth a mention. You know, another Lincoln Riley coach team.
<v Speaker 2>And like I said, even though the record was bad,
<v Speaker 2>you know, they were kind of close last year.
<v Speaker 1>Is Riley on the hot seat?
<v Speaker 2>I think so? I think so? Yeah. I think you
<v Speaker 2>look at his record, Yeah yeah, his record over the
<v Speaker 2>past three was his third season. I think you're there. Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>and yeah, it hasn't been great, especially for you know
<v Speaker 2>USC standards.
<v Speaker 1>Right right. You can sit there and say, well, hey,
<v Speaker 1>they're putting up points, they're scoring a lot, No one cares.
<v Speaker 1>Are you winning games? And he has not won nearly. Okay,
<v Speaker 1>So I am betting that. I know your first contender,
<v Speaker 1>and I would think it's probably from the Great Northwest,
<v Speaker 1>but maybe I'm wrong.
<v Speaker 2>Oregon.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, yeah, those Oregon Ducks are going to be tough.
<v Speaker 1>I mean, Dan Lanning's got himself a program, doesn't.
<v Speaker 2>He he does. Yep, he's kind of copy But yeah,
<v Speaker 2>I'm not a about to say I'm not a fan.
<v Speaker 2>I'm not a Landing fan. But like I said, they're
<v Speaker 2>only returning five starters, but they did do good work
<v Speaker 2>in the portal. I'm worried about their offensive line, yes,
<v Speaker 2>but like I said, to your point, Landing thirty five
<v Speaker 2>and six at Oregon, so you know he's winning games
<v Speaker 2>in there. So yeah, he's he's he's going to be
<v Speaker 2>in the mix.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, he's got to replace him, and he's got to
<v Speaker 1>replace a very very experienced veteran quarterback in Taylor Gabriel
<v Speaker 1>that you know is now going on the NFL. But
<v Speaker 1>Oregon is still going to be stacked. That is a
<v Speaker 1>you know, top five recruiting class year in, year out
<v Speaker 1>kind of team. They've got talent, they just don't have
<v Speaker 1>the experience maybe that some of these other teams do.
<v Speaker 1>All right now, it's going to get real interesting. I
<v Speaker 1>think we've each got one contender and then our champ yep,
<v Speaker 1>all right. Contender is who Ohio State? Ohio State. Yes, hey, Rob,
<v Speaker 1>they lost fourteen kids, I get it, but man, they
<v Speaker 1>return a ton still and I know they got to
<v Speaker 1>get a quarterback, but man, Ohio State is just stacked.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, talent's there. Like you said, they lost a lot
<v Speaker 2>and they lost both their coordinators. So that's the kind
<v Speaker 2>of one that made it slip for me. But again,
<v Speaker 2>talent wise, same as Oregon, They've got talent around the ball.
<v Speaker 2>Could definitely all come together. And I'm still not a
<v Speaker 2>Ryan they believer right again.
<v Speaker 1>Right, Well, when he uses that much, that much permanent
<v Speaker 1>marker on his beard, you start to wonder about that guy.
<v Speaker 1>If he's just not all there, what's going on? You know?
<v Speaker 1>One thing about Ohio State, if they can kind of
<v Speaker 1>get through, you know, they they've got that tough opener.
<v Speaker 1>They open it home against Texas, that's going to be
<v Speaker 1>a tough game. But if they can kind of get
<v Speaker 1>through and they can kind of settle in and find
<v Speaker 1>their quarterback, get their offensive line's legs under them, Rob,
<v Speaker 1>they might have the best player in the country in
<v Speaker 1>wide receiver Jeremiah Smith. That kid is absolutely unbelievable and
<v Speaker 1>for that reason, I give Ohio State still a shot,
<v Speaker 1>but they have got to go to our champion's house
<v Speaker 1>to get a win. And we're both going to do
<v Speaker 1>this and we're both just gonna close our eyes and
<v Speaker 1>make this pick. Rob. We both got Penn State winning
<v Speaker 1>something and they never win anything.
<v Speaker 2>They never do. But I guess process of analysis, is
<v Speaker 2>that what they say? Yeah, elimination. Yeah, just you know,
<v Speaker 2>lots of seniors on the roster. They brought in DC,
<v Speaker 2>Jim Knowles, Drew Allard, I really don't trust. But no,
<v Speaker 2>you know, he's been through a sea. You know, he's
<v Speaker 2>been there. He's a veteran. So yeah, by default, I
<v Speaker 2>guess give me Penn State to win the Batan.
<v Speaker 1>This is James Franklin's best team he's ever had. That
<v Speaker 1>defensive front is going to be one of the best
<v Speaker 1>in the country. If you can't win this year, I
<v Speaker 1>don't know to tell you. The table is set for
<v Speaker 1>you to go win something this year. Go win Penn State,
<v Speaker 1>go do something they never beat anybody.
<v Speaker 2>Good.
<v Speaker 1>All Right, We're gonna see can Penn State go prove it?
<v Speaker 1>And we both are gonna have our doubts. We're gonna
<v Speaker 1>be looking through our fingers at that whole idea, because
<v Speaker 1>the next time they beat an actual, good ranked team
<v Speaker 1>will be the first. We finished up our major conference
<v Speaker 1>preview with that mighty Southeastern Conference that is now on
<v Speaker 1>a two year losing streak of not winning the national title.
<v Speaker 1>But once again, this conference is going to be absolutely loaded.
<v Speaker 1>Last year, Georgia won the conference, but then it was
<v Speaker 1>Texas that went all the way to the final four
<v Speaker 1>before they lost to Ohio State. They didn't even get
<v Speaker 1>an SEC team in the title game. Rob, I've got
<v Speaker 1>four contenders and then I've got my champion. What do
<v Speaker 1>you got as far as mentions and contenders?
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, I've got three. I want to mention. I got
<v Speaker 2>three contenders for about and then my chance. Well, I
<v Speaker 2>don't know how good I feel about them, but I.
<v Speaker 1>Don't feel I don't feel good at all. I feel
<v Speaker 1>good about my contenders. I don't feel great about any
<v Speaker 1>anybody else. What do you got for your for your mention?
<v Speaker 1>You want to get out there?
<v Speaker 2>My first mention is gonna be old miss top three
<v Speaker 2>in scoring, an offense, scoring, offense, and defense last season.
<v Speaker 2>Obviously they missed the playoffs, but it's still a lot
<v Speaker 2>of talent here. Like I said, I feel like last
<v Speaker 2>year was the year. So that's kind of why I
<v Speaker 2>have them in the mentioned mode. A little worried about
<v Speaker 2>that old line. Schedule isn't great. They do avoid BAM
<v Speaker 2>in Texas, so that's gonna help a little bit. But yeah,
<v Speaker 2>I feel like last year was the year to do it.
<v Speaker 2>But again, I think they'll you know, they'll still be
<v Speaker 2>in the mix.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, they will, and you know what, I'll be very transparent, Rob.
<v Speaker 1>I really wanted to see All missmake the blaff last year.
<v Speaker 1>I think it would have been fascinating to see what
<v Speaker 1>Lane Kiffin would have done with Jackson Dart and that
<v Speaker 1>group down there. I don't know if they'd have you know,
<v Speaker 1>won it all, but I think they would have been
<v Speaker 1>really really exciting to watch, really fun to watch. Hey,
<v Speaker 1>Lane is entertaining, They're gonna, you know, find new people,
<v Speaker 1>They've got skill guys. Schedule's gonna be top that whole
<v Speaker 1>sec A lot of tough schedules in that. So yeah,
<v Speaker 1>I like All Miss. I don't love them. Who's your
<v Speaker 1>other mention?
<v Speaker 2>That another mention? I got two more and the tied
<v Speaker 2>first one is going to be Missouri. Yeah, look at
<v Speaker 2>their last two seasons eleven and two, ten and three.
<v Speaker 2>They did good work in the portal, so the top
<v Speaker 2>twenty scoring defense last season. I mean, the biggest thing
<v Speaker 2>for them as well as my next mention is a schedule.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah.
<v Speaker 2>Last season there were six SEC teams that had a
<v Speaker 2>losing conference record. Five of those are on Missouri schedule.
<v Speaker 2>So just with that softer you know, as soft as
<v Speaker 2>the schedule can be in the SEC, but with a
<v Speaker 2>lighter schedule, I think they have a chance to get
<v Speaker 2>some momentum. First two games are all at home, so
<v Speaker 2>I thinks start fast and kind of slowly falls apart.
<v Speaker 2>But I think they could be interesting as well.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, and they're going to be a team that if
<v Speaker 1>they go out there and just beat the teams they
<v Speaker 1>should again, you're gonna be talking about a top twenty
<v Speaker 1>kind of team. And then you see, can they grow up,
<v Speaker 1>can they figure things out? Are they actually for real
<v Speaker 1>or not? But yeah, I think Missouri is a good
<v Speaker 1>example of a team that sometimes kid believe it even
<v Speaker 1>though it isn't isn't true. And if they come out
<v Speaker 1>and they jump on people to begin with, they're gonna
<v Speaker 1>be a little bit of a paint all right, I'm
<v Speaker 1>gonna give you a contender, Rob. This is my first contender,
<v Speaker 1>and I'm gonna feel bad doing this, but I know
<v Speaker 1>the roster is still stocked with top level talent. I know,
<v Speaker 1>but this group is gonna be young and inexperienced. They're
<v Speaker 1>gonna have some skill guys. But I don't exactly know
<v Speaker 1>what I'm getting out out of Georgia this year. Gunner Stockton,
<v Speaker 1>I've never seen him. I don't know. Maybe they're gonna
<v Speaker 1>be better than I think. The schedule is friendly early,
<v Speaker 1>but then you get to mid September with guys that
<v Speaker 1>are not experienced. They go to Tennessee and host Alabama
<v Speaker 1>back to back weeks. That's not gonna be easy. I
<v Speaker 1>think this is probably one of the less talented teams
<v Speaker 1>that he's had down there, and he's I mean, he's
<v Speaker 1>just had nothing but really really good teams. I'm just
<v Speaker 1>not quite sure what to think of Georgia yet.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, I agree, this was I had three contenders in.
<v Speaker 2>This was number three for me for all the same
<v Speaker 2>reasons you mentioned, and like I said, I just got
<v Speaker 2>him up there just because it's talent. I mean, it's Georgia,
<v Speaker 2>so I think they'll be in the mix. So yeah,
<v Speaker 2>that was my number three. Well, you know, the first
<v Speaker 2>of my contenders. And I'll just jump back real quick
<v Speaker 2>to Tennessee was my other mentioned and kind of same
<v Speaker 2>as Missouri here the same schedule. They got five teams
<v Speaker 2>that had a losing conference record last season, so quarterback
<v Speaker 2>situation was kind of interesting. Probably ended up even not
<v Speaker 2>you know, probably a Washington. So then the past couple
<v Speaker 2>of seasons, so you know, they're kind of in play,
<v Speaker 2>but you know, not quite enough for me.
<v Speaker 1>Right, and I mean fat Justin Timberlake is doing a
<v Speaker 1>really good job. You know, whoever he gets as a quarterback,
<v Speaker 1>he's going to eventually coach them up. If they keep
<v Speaker 1>that kid that ends up going to UCLA, but just
<v Speaker 1>quit playing, Like what are you doing going to UCLA?
<v Speaker 1>Just just end your career. But if he keeps him,
<v Speaker 1>Tennessee's a team I look at is Hey, maybe they're
<v Speaker 1>kind of a dark horse candidate. That loss is going
<v Speaker 1>to take a little more time to overcome. Tess, He's
<v Speaker 1>gonna be a pain. They're gonna still be very very solid.
<v Speaker 1>They could end up being dangerous the more games they
<v Speaker 1>get under their belt. But yeah, I would put Tennessee
<v Speaker 1>in kind of that that same vicinity. All right, Rob,
<v Speaker 1>who's your first contender? Uh?
<v Speaker 2>First one, one out of two here?
<v Speaker 1>Georgia, right already, Yeah, Georgia's.
<v Speaker 2>Georgia, So yeah, that would be Yeah, Alabama looking for
<v Speaker 2>a bounce back here. Last season wasn't terrible nine to four,
<v Speaker 2>but you know it's Alabama, so obviously fan base isn't happy.
<v Speaker 2>But I do think the Bords a good coach. Ryan
<v Speaker 2>Grubb his offensive coordinator NFL last season, but now he's back.
<v Speaker 2>But they brought in some talent to kind of tighten
<v Speaker 2>up that defense. And again, I just I think that's
<v Speaker 2>a good coach. The talent's there. So I got them
<v Speaker 2>contending this year.
<v Speaker 1>I've got them as a contender as well. So we
<v Speaker 1>agree on Alabama, I've got them as as good and again,
<v Speaker 1>find a quarterback, figure some things out. I think Alabama's
<v Speaker 1>gonna be in the hunt. They might actually be a
<v Speaker 1>playoff contender as well. I'm going to throw out at
<v Speaker 1>content under and I know this team is on top
<v Speaker 1>of every single poll, and I know I'm gonna look
<v Speaker 1>like a fool when I don't take them. But Rob,
<v Speaker 1>I've still got questions about Texas. I know the defensive
<v Speaker 1>line could be one of the best in the country.
<v Speaker 1>Arch Manning could be a major upgraded quarterback because he
<v Speaker 1>is such a duel threat. He can hurt you in
<v Speaker 1>so many ways. Head coach Steve Sarkisian he's going to
<v Speaker 1>have him ready to go. Top recruiting class in the country.
<v Speaker 1>But they haven't done it yet. They haven't been to
<v Speaker 1>the Horseshoe yet. They open there. They haven't been to
<v Speaker 1>the Swamp yet. They're gonna go there very very early on.
<v Speaker 1>They expected to just handle teams like Oklahoma and Texas,
<v Speaker 1>A and M. They don't always do that. This isn't
<v Speaker 1>going to be as easy as it's being made out
<v Speaker 1>to be. I think Texas slips a few times. I
<v Speaker 1>still think better contenter for the playoffs. I still think
<v Speaker 1>better contender for the SEC. I can just see Texas
<v Speaker 1>slipping up a couple times.
<v Speaker 2>I agree this was my contender as well. The biggest
<v Speaker 2>worry for me is going to be that offensive line
<v Speaker 2>in arches. You know, probably good enough to maneuver, but
<v Speaker 2>if the old line is a blocking doesn't matter. His
<v Speaker 2>you know, mobility doesn't matter. Yeah, like I said, plenty
<v Speaker 2>of talent I think they'll still be in the mix
<v Speaker 2>for the playoff, but yeah, I do not have them
<v Speaker 2>as my SEC champion.
<v Speaker 1>This is gonna get real interesting right now. All right, Rob,
<v Speaker 1>I've got two teams left. I've got a contender and
<v Speaker 1>I've got a champion. And I'm gonna look like an
<v Speaker 1>idiot when I pick this, but I'm gonna do it anyways.
<v Speaker 1>All right, Rob, who is your last contender? We'll save
<v Speaker 1>that champion. There's no way we agree on this. There's
<v Speaker 1>just no way we're agreeing on this.
<v Speaker 2>Actually, I'm out. All I have left is my champions.
<v Speaker 1>You just have your champions, all right, Rob, I'm gonna
<v Speaker 1>put LSU out there as my contender. Head coach Brian
<v Speaker 1>Kelly best team he's had so far in Baton Rouge.
<v Speaker 1>I think he is feeling some serious pressure to produce.
<v Speaker 1>You know, they're own three in their opening game under
<v Speaker 1>Brian Kelly. Quarterback Garrett Usmar might be the best passer
<v Speaker 1>in the country. He's got some weapons around him. The
<v Speaker 1>defense should be a little better. I just don't like
<v Speaker 1>their schedule. They go to Clemson to Ole Miss, to
<v Speaker 1>Alabama to Oklahoma. I think they have to slip up
<v Speaker 1>a few times I have them on the edge. I
<v Speaker 1>have been a contender. I have been maybe even making
<v Speaker 1>the playoff. I have LSU as a contender.
<v Speaker 2>LSU is my champion. This is my three year thing again,
<v Speaker 2>Brian Kelly or three. The records twenty nine and eleven,
<v Speaker 2>which isn't terrible, And like I said, quarterback is big,
<v Speaker 2>you know, experienced quarterback. Worried about the O line and
<v Speaker 2>like you said, the schedule scares me the most, but
<v Speaker 2>I'm betting that the defense is gonna be better. So
<v Speaker 2>with a couple losses, which I think everybody's kind of
<v Speaker 2>gonna have, yeah, less, he's gonna end up as my champion.
<v Speaker 1>Okay, Rob, I'm gonna do something really really stupid, but
<v Speaker 1>I just okay, I'm gonna lob this trivia question out
<v Speaker 1>to listeners. Quick, name the highest scoring SEC team from
<v Speaker 1>last year. It's not LSU. It's not Tennessee, it's not Alabama,
<v Speaker 1>it's not Georgia. It is Texas. A and M. And
<v Speaker 1>I think they're tough upfront. They return a ton of starters. No,
<v Speaker 1>they're not the big name. I always just expect A
<v Speaker 1>and M to screw up. But head coach Mike Elco.
<v Speaker 1>He is coaching this group up. They are physical, they
<v Speaker 1>are tough. My problem agatting that schedule is difficult. They
<v Speaker 1>go to Notre Dame, LSU and Texas. I think A
<v Speaker 1>and M is going to be a problem for teams though,
<v Speaker 1>because I think they're going to be tough, and I
<v Speaker 1>think they're gonna score a ton of points, so you're
<v Speaker 1>gonna have to outscore them. Rob goes to LSU and
<v Speaker 1>I go Texas A and M as my sec champion.
<v Speaker 1>And Rob, I am going against every fiber of my
<v Speaker 1>d to pick Texas A and M as my champion.
<v Speaker 1>Nothing about that makes sense whatsoever, I admit it. I'm
<v Speaker 1>okay with it. All right, let's move past that, Rob.
<v Speaker 1>What you have as far as you know that power
<v Speaker 1>group of five? What do you have outside the you know,
<v Speaker 1>the big time schools. Do you have anybody out there
<v Speaker 1>that you like? Maybe is being a playoff contender?
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, only one, and it's gonna be for It's gonna
<v Speaker 2>be Boise State for me, just been strong past couple
<v Speaker 2>of seasons. Mountain West. I don't think they have any
<v Speaker 2>problems with their maybe they drop one, but I think
<v Speaker 2>this is the group of five team that gets in
<v Speaker 2>the playoff. Boise State.
<v Speaker 1>Okay, Yeah, I do like Boise State, and I mean
<v Speaker 1>that coach. He's doing a really, really good job, you know.
<v Speaker 1>I know, Ashton Genty's gone, matts Mattson is pretty good.
<v Speaker 1>They bring back fifteen starters, Spencer Danielson. He's doing a
<v Speaker 1>nice job up in Boise and they're probably gonna roll
<v Speaker 1>through that schedule for the most part. They've got a
<v Speaker 1>couple of big games, but that's it. And I am
<v Speaker 1>going to mention whether it's one other team. Rob Marcus Freeman.
<v Speaker 1>He's done something I didn't think was possible. He's got
<v Speaker 1>me to not hate Notre Dame. Yeah, Sam, I don't
<v Speaker 1>love them, but I don't hate him anymore. I like
<v Speaker 1>Marcus Freeman. I like the job he does. I like
<v Speaker 1>the way that guy runs his program and the way
<v Speaker 1>he carries himself. I'm gonna put Notre Dame out there.
<v Speaker 1>They're going to still be very good. Yes, they lost
<v Speaker 1>some key pieces, but that schedule is so paper soft.
<v Speaker 1>You're gonna get A and M, and you're gonna get
<v Speaker 1>Boise State and then you're gonna beat everybody. Maybe USC
<v Speaker 1>gives you a little bit of a game they got
<v Speaker 1>a good shot of getting back to that playoff because
<v Speaker 1>that schedule is not going to be very tough. So
<v Speaker 1>I'm going to mention him. All right, rob, let's get
<v Speaker 1>down to what some serious things here. Who's gonna win
<v Speaker 1>the Heisman this year? What do you have for our
<v Speaker 1>Heisman this year? Give me how many you got any contenders?
<v Speaker 1>You got a champ? How do you have this rupt down?
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, I've got three long shots that are gonna kind
<v Speaker 2>of throw out there. Then two real contenders and then pick.
<v Speaker 1>Okay, give me your give me a long shot. What
<v Speaker 1>do you got?
<v Speaker 2>So my first one Marcel Reed Texas A and M.
<v Speaker 1>George see stupid Aggie, but.
<v Speaker 2>A dual threat quarterback, good old line. Like you said,
<v Speaker 2>Kevin Conception comes in from NC state wide receiver transfer.
<v Speaker 2>So like you mentioned before, I think this is a
<v Speaker 2>guy that can roll that offense, throws up big numbers.
<v Speaker 2>So whereas I didn't have them in the playoff, but
<v Speaker 2>this is you know, if they make it, I think
<v Speaker 2>he's having a great year, Marcel Reid. So that was
<v Speaker 2>my first mentioned long shot.
<v Speaker 1>Okay, okay, I like that. Pick you have one more?
<v Speaker 1>Mentioned two more?
<v Speaker 2>Give me, give me one more Thomas Constananos. I think
<v Speaker 2>so you say it Florida State or State, same thing.
<v Speaker 2>Gus Malson is the offensive coordinator from UCF. This is
<v Speaker 2>another dual quarterback guy again, Malson. You know that's is
<v Speaker 2>off the old Cam Newton playbook. Maybe he gets this
<v Speaker 2>guy rolling. So that's another long shot. Like I said,
<v Speaker 2>I don't have s FSU making the playoff, but I
<v Speaker 2>think that's a QB that you know, could get rolling,
<v Speaker 2>and you know who knows.
<v Speaker 1>I would agree with that and that schedule that conference.
<v Speaker 1>He's gonna have a chance to put up some pretty
<v Speaker 1>big numbers if he can get it going. I like
<v Speaker 1>that pick as well. I'm gonna throw out I'm gonna
<v Speaker 1>throw out my first contender, and my first contender is
<v Speaker 1>gonna put up massive, massive numbers. He probably should be
<v Speaker 1>higher on this for me, but I'm gonna put up
<v Speaker 1>Drew Aller. I don't know how much I trust Penn State.
<v Speaker 1>He's in his fourth years as the primary starter. He's
<v Speaker 1>gonna put up good numbers, isn't he. Hey, if Penn
<v Speaker 1>State is going to achieve the goals that we're looking
<v Speaker 1>at and saying, hey, Penn State could do this stuff,
<v Speaker 1>you hours got to be the guy, doesn't he He's
<v Speaker 1>got to put up those big kind of Heisman numbers.
<v Speaker 1>I think he has to be a Kaisman contender. If
<v Speaker 1>Penn State is surely going to be a contender, I'll
<v Speaker 1>name Drew Aller as a contender. I've got two other
<v Speaker 1>contenders and a champ. What do you have, Rob, I'll
<v Speaker 1>give you one more mention. Then I got two contenders
<v Speaker 1>in a champ.
<v Speaker 2>Okay, Jaden Mayava USC simply because Lincoln Riley quarterback, I
<v Speaker 2>think the old line is gonna be better. But yeah,
<v Speaker 2>I'm always gonna throw whoever his quarterback is in the mix,
<v Speaker 2>of course. Yeah, just because the way you know, obviously,
<v Speaker 2>the history with Heisman's there under him. Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>No, he knows how to how to get kids the
<v Speaker 1>most out of kids, and he knows how to put
<v Speaker 1>up big, big, big numbers. And we know those voters
<v Speaker 1>love those big numbers. All right, I'm going to give
<v Speaker 1>you one more contender that I have kid we just
<v Speaker 1>mentioned coming out of Big ten. I don't think he's
<v Speaker 1>gonna win it because they like to give this award
<v Speaker 1>to quarterbacks. But Ohio state wide receiver Jeremiah Smith might
<v Speaker 1>be the best player in the country last year as
<v Speaker 1>a freshman seventy six catches, thirteen hundred yards, sixteen touchdowns
<v Speaker 1>as a freshman. Now, the catch for him, he's got
<v Speaker 1>to have a quarterback. And we don't know exactly what
<v Speaker 1>that's going to mean for him, but Jeremiah Smith is
<v Speaker 1>one of the best wide receivers I have seen in
<v Speaker 1>quite a while. This kid might he might be special,
<v Speaker 1>and for that reason, I'm going to put him out here.
<v Speaker 1>I'm just not sure whose quarterback is going to be
<v Speaker 1>rob Who else do you have as you as someone
<v Speaker 1>that could win the Heisman this year.
<v Speaker 2>Another contender I'll give you is Caid club name then,
<v Speaker 2>kind of like we talked about before conference is down,
<v Speaker 2>this is a guy I think the defense is going
<v Speaker 2>to be really good and he could put up some
<v Speaker 2>decent numbers. And you know, more so that record kind
<v Speaker 2>of has him in the Heisman conversation.
<v Speaker 1>I agree. In fact, you just named my winner because
<v Speaker 1>I'm going to put Clubnick as my Heisman champ. Honestly,
<v Speaker 1>some of it's because he's coming out of the ACC
<v Speaker 1>is going to put up big numbers. He's going to
<v Speaker 1>dominate statistically. He's in his fourth year started to look
<v Speaker 1>like last year. He might be starting to figure some
<v Speaker 1>things out, starting to figure out when to throw it,
<v Speaker 1>when to run it, when to be smart and get
<v Speaker 1>rid of it and not take big losses, kind of
<v Speaker 1>stop making the big dumb mistakes. Kay Klubnick is going
<v Speaker 1>to be my winner. I've got one other contender and
<v Speaker 1>he might be your Heisman winner. What else he got h.
<v Speaker 2>One more contender for me? I feel like you have
<v Speaker 2>to mention Arch Manning. Ye seems to have all of
<v Speaker 2>the talent. So yeah, I think I think you got
<v Speaker 2>to throw him in there.
<v Speaker 1>I would agree with that. And I mean, if Arch
<v Speaker 1>goes out and he plays like he's capable of hey,
<v Speaker 1>Steve Sarkisan is going to coach him up. He is
<v Speaker 1>going to have him ready to go. We know he's
<v Speaker 1>got the all the genetic traits that you would want.
<v Speaker 1>Rsh Manning is going to be very very good. We
<v Speaker 1>haven't seen him much, but what we have seen he
<v Speaker 1>looks very very dangerous. Okay, So I've got Club Dick
<v Speaker 1>as my champion. I've got one out of contender, and
<v Speaker 1>I would almost bet my contender is going to be
<v Speaker 1>your champ. Who do you have as your Heusman winner
<v Speaker 1>Lsu Garrett ne Smeyer. Yeah, that's what I got as well. Man,
<v Speaker 1>he's going to put up some monster numbers, Robin. I
<v Speaker 1>mean four thousand yards last year, twenty nine touchdowns last year.
<v Speaker 1>He might be better this year.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, that's what I had. Yeah. I think he was
<v Speaker 2>the finished number five in yards last year, and like
<v Speaker 2>you said, another year of experience under his belt and
<v Speaker 2>still has the weapons there. Like I said, I've got
<v Speaker 2>see I got Lsu winn in the SEC and like
<v Speaker 2>I said, I think kind of correlated because of that,
<v Speaker 2>you know, I think he's going to go off and
<v Speaker 2>put up some some crazy numbers.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, I could totally see that. Like I said, I
<v Speaker 1>have him as my top contender. Rob's got him as
<v Speaker 1>his winner. Once again, we come in very very similar
<v Speaker 1>on our picks, but now we're gonna blow everything up
<v Speaker 1>because Rob. I'm actually writing a few notes here because
<v Speaker 1>I screwed something up on my picks. But I am
<v Speaker 1>fixing something very very quickly. My twelve team playoff is
<v Speaker 1>just a absolute mess. Like I said, I'm wearing out paper,
<v Speaker 1>I'm wearing out a raceer, I'm wearing out the table.
<v Speaker 1>Trying to fix this thing, all right? Do we want
<v Speaker 1>to count down from twelve down? Or do we want
<v Speaker 1>to start our one? Because our one, like we all
<v Speaker 1>kind of know, like we already picked our champs. We're
<v Speaker 1>gonna kind of be able to figure that out, right,
<v Speaker 1>should we start it one?
<v Speaker 2>Either way? Uh, it's probably gonna be pretty spotty.
<v Speaker 1>This year, though, It's gonna be real spotty. That's that's
<v Speaker 1>all right, all right, Rob, I'm gonna go with my
<v Speaker 1>number one team. My top seed going into the College
<v Speaker 1>Football Playoff is going to be the Clemson Tigers. I
<v Speaker 1>believe they're gonna win the ACC and I believe they're
<v Speaker 1>going to win the ACC because the a SEC is
<v Speaker 1>not that great. A couple teams out there to contend
<v Speaker 1>a little bit. I don't think anybody has the defense
<v Speaker 1>that Clemson has. I made Clemson and your boy dabble
<v Speaker 1>my number one. Who's your number one seed?
<v Speaker 2>Rob? Number one for me is a SEC champ LSU
<v Speaker 2>Still they still think. They probably drop a couple of games,
<v Speaker 2>but they're close, they don't get blown out. They win
<v Speaker 2>the SEC just means more. Number one seed.
<v Speaker 1>Okay, I like that pick. We move on to number two,
<v Speaker 1>my number two pick, I am going to go with
<v Speaker 1>my Big Ten champ and I'm going to go with
<v Speaker 1>a Penn State Nitney Lions at number two. That feels
<v Speaker 1>way too high for me, but I'm going to put
<v Speaker 1>them there anyways, Rob, who do you have at number two?
<v Speaker 2>Same for me, Penn State because they win to Big Ten.
<v Speaker 2>This is number two for me.
<v Speaker 1>All right, Well, so far, so good. We move on
<v Speaker 1>to number three and at number three, I have got
<v Speaker 1>my shocking no one saw it coming Texas A and
<v Speaker 1>m Aggie's as my sec representative champion and they get
<v Speaker 1>my number three seed. Who do you have at three?
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, we're kind of on track here. Clemson is my
<v Speaker 2>number three. Yeah, conference winner, Like you said, great record, Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>that's my number three Clemson.
<v Speaker 1>All right. At number four, I've got the runner up
<v Speaker 1>in the Big Ten, and I'm going to put the
<v Speaker 1>Ohio State Buckeyes as my number four seed. I know
<v Speaker 1>that's probably too high, but I think I think the
<v Speaker 1>Big Ten is going to be very very stacked, and
<v Speaker 1>I think Ohio State is going to get a very
<v Speaker 1>very high seed because of that. So I'm going to
<v Speaker 1>give my four seed to Ohio State. Rob, who do
<v Speaker 1>you have it? At number four?
<v Speaker 2>Number four is my SEC runner up Alabama.
<v Speaker 1>Okay, that makes sense. So again, yeah, we're we're kind
<v Speaker 1>of on on step here as usual. At number five,
<v Speaker 1>I'm going to go with my Big twelve champion. I
<v Speaker 1>have got Arizona State getting that five seed as the
<v Speaker 1>Big twelve CHAMPO do you have at five? Rob?
<v Speaker 2>Number five soft schedule gets Notre Dame as the number
<v Speaker 2>five seed.
<v Speaker 1>Oh that is interesting. That is really interesting because we
<v Speaker 1>go next to number six, where I have Notre Dame
<v Speaker 1>getting the number six seed. So once again we're not
<v Speaker 1>too far off. Rob, who gets your six?
<v Speaker 2>Number six? For me? Another team from the SEC sneaks in.
<v Speaker 2>Give me Georgia in this spot.
<v Speaker 1>All right? Rob goes with Georgia at the six. At seven,
<v Speaker 1>I've got another SEC team as well, and I'm gonna
<v Speaker 1>go with Bama at seven. I already have my champion
<v Speaker 1>with an M, but I'm gonna go Bama at the
<v Speaker 1>seventh seed. Who do you have at seven?
<v Speaker 2>Rob? My last SEC school, Texas gets in. They're number
<v Speaker 2>seven seed here.
<v Speaker 1>Very very nice. I am going to go to my
<v Speaker 1>number eight seed and my number eight seed. I've got
<v Speaker 1>my final SEC team. I've got LSU getting in at
<v Speaker 1>the number eight seeds. So we're getting the same teams
<v Speaker 1>in and we're just jumping up their order. But yeah,
<v Speaker 1>I've got I've got l s U eight. Who do
<v Speaker 1>you have an eight?
<v Speaker 2>ROB eight, You've already got them in, got them sloted
<v Speaker 2>in at the eighth spot as Ohio.
<v Speaker 1>State OSU gets in. So we're differing on slot, but
<v Speaker 1>we're getting the same, you know, basic teams in there.
<v Speaker 1>At number nine, I am going to do something maybe
<v Speaker 1>a little bit stupid, but at number nine, I am
<v Speaker 1>going to go with the ACC runner up and I'm
<v Speaker 1>gonna go with Miami. I think Miami sneaks in and
<v Speaker 1>I think they get the number nine seed. Who do
<v Speaker 1>you have at nine? Nine?
<v Speaker 2>I got another big ten teams sneaking in. Give me
<v Speaker 2>Oregon at number nine?
<v Speaker 1>Oregon gets in. All right, we've got three teams left.
<v Speaker 1>ROB At the number ten seed, I'm gonna go with
<v Speaker 1>a team from the Mountain West Conference that if they
<v Speaker 1>can get by Notre Dame, They're probably gonna win most
<v Speaker 1>all the rest of their games. And I'm gonna go
<v Speaker 1>with Boise State getting in at the ten seed. Who
<v Speaker 1>do you have at number ten?
<v Speaker 2>Ten spot? I had Miami that you mentioned. I changed
<v Speaker 2>it at the last minute and I'm probably gonna regret
<v Speaker 2>it somehow. Number ten Michigan gets in.
<v Speaker 1>Oh, Michigan gets in. I like that pick. I had
<v Speaker 1>Michigan in in one of mine. I scratched them off
<v Speaker 1>and I took them back. So we probably did. We
<v Speaker 1>probably did the exact same thing I think I talk
<v Speaker 1>about put Miami in. Yeah, so at number eleven, I'm
<v Speaker 1>going to go with my Big twelve runner up. I'm
<v Speaker 1>getting Kansas State in there. So Kansas State Big twelve
<v Speaker 1>gets in at eleven. What do you have at eleven, Rob.
<v Speaker 2>Eleven the Mountain West winner, same as you. I've got
<v Speaker 2>Boise State in at number eleven.
<v Speaker 1>All right, and then our final seed, the number twelve seed.
<v Speaker 1>And again I'm going with the team that I still
<v Speaker 1>am questioning my own sanity. Rob. I'm putting Illinois in
<v Speaker 1>as my twelve seed. I think Illinois sneaks in their toughness,
<v Speaker 1>their physicality sneaks them in. Illinois shocks everyone and actually
<v Speaker 1>wins something of importance. They get into the College Football Playoff.
<v Speaker 1>That is my twelve, Rob. Who is your number twelve seed?
<v Speaker 2>Yes, of note, we got Big ten schools sneaking in,
<v Speaker 2>which is interesting. Number twelve the Big twelve winner for me.
<v Speaker 2>I went back and forth on this, so they're kind
<v Speaker 2>of interchanged. But my pick was Kansas State to win
<v Speaker 2>the Big twelve and that's the last last one in Okay.
<v Speaker 1>Okay State gets in. All right, Now we get down
<v Speaker 1>to more serious business here, because now we are down
<v Speaker 1>to actual games. And in my first game of the playoff,
<v Speaker 1>I would have number eight LSU versus number nine Miami.
<v Speaker 1>I would have LSU coming out on top in that game,
<v Speaker 1>so LSU would advance. Who's your eight nine, rob My?
<v Speaker 2>Eight nine is Ohio State versus Oregon and I've been Tenchgan, Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>I've got organ advancing alright.
<v Speaker 1>I like that pick.
<v Speaker 2>Ryan dagets fired.
<v Speaker 1>There we go. Yeah, I knew it's coming. I knew
<v Speaker 1>it's coming. I just didn't know when I thought you might.
<v Speaker 1>I thought you you might let him get through a round.
<v Speaker 1>He didn't even get through a round. Ryan da gets fired.
<v Speaker 1>Is stupid Beard. At our next spot, we have our
<v Speaker 1>five twelve matchup. I have Arizon in a state versus
<v Speaker 1>Illinois in my five twelve and I have well, I
<v Speaker 1>struggled this this one so much, Illinois coming out on top.
<v Speaker 1>Illinois beats the big twelve and advances. Illinois gets through.
<v Speaker 1>Who's your five to twelve ROB?
<v Speaker 2>Five twelve for me is Notre Dame versus Kansas State,
<v Speaker 2>and I've got Notre Dame advancing.
<v Speaker 1>Yep, I could totally see that. Next up, we have
<v Speaker 1>our six eleven matchup. I've got Notre Dame versus Kansas
<v Speaker 1>State in that, and I've got Notre Dame advancing, so
<v Speaker 1>Notre Dame gets through on mine. Who is your six eleven?
<v Speaker 2>Six eleven for me is Georgia versus Boise State, and
<v Speaker 2>I've got Georgia advancing.
<v Speaker 1>Fair enough. Final game, I've got number my number seven
<v Speaker 1>versus number ten. My number seven is Alabama, Alabama versus Boise,
<v Speaker 1>and Alabama beats Boise and probably beats them rather easily,
<v Speaker 1>So Boys or Alabama dances on. Who is your seven
<v Speaker 1>to ten game?
<v Speaker 2>ROB? Seven? Ten for me is Texas versus Michigan, and
<v Speaker 2>I've got Texas advancing. All right.
<v Speaker 1>Hey, I'll say this, and I don't know, you know,
<v Speaker 1>usually we get down to it, we end up with
<v Speaker 1>vaguely the right. I'll say this, I like a lot
<v Speaker 1>of these matchups. I'd pay right now to watch these matchups.
<v Speaker 1>I'm all in on all of them so far. Okay,
<v Speaker 1>we get down to our quarterfinals. My number one seed
<v Speaker 1>is Clemson. I have them facing my number eight seed LSU,
<v Speaker 1>and I have I have Clemson advancing, but I don't
<v Speaker 1>feel good about it. Clemson my number one versus number eight.
<v Speaker 1>Who's your one versus either eight or nine?
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, number one LSU is gonna be verse number nine
<v Speaker 2>Organ for me, and I've got LSU advancing over Organ.
<v Speaker 2>All right, So.
<v Speaker 1>I've got Clemson, You've got LSU advancing so far. Number
<v Speaker 1>two Penn State versus number seven Alabama, Rob, I'm trying
<v Speaker 1>to talk myself into it, but I just I can't.
<v Speaker 1>I've got Alabama at the seventh seed advancing past Penn State,
<v Speaker 1>and I just I don't know what else to do
<v Speaker 1>with that. But sorry, Bama's going on. Penn State's going
<v Speaker 1>home because they just think they don't ever beat good teams.
<v Speaker 1>So sorry, sorry about it. Who's your two versus maybe seven?
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, same thing happened to me. Number two Penn State
<v Speaker 2>versus number seven Texas. I couldn't do it. I got
<v Speaker 2>Texas advancing.
<v Speaker 1>Sorry, Penn State. Sorry in advance, all right, my third
<v Speaker 1>quarterfinal game would be number three A and M versus
<v Speaker 1>number six Notre Dame in a rematch of a game
<v Speaker 1>that they will have played already at Notre Dame. I
<v Speaker 1>have Notre Dame winning that game. A and M gets
<v Speaker 1>the rematch, and A and M advances onto the next round.
<v Speaker 1>Who do you have in that at your number three, Rob?
<v Speaker 2>Number three, I've got Clemson verse number six Georgia, and
<v Speaker 2>I have Clemson advancing over Georgia.
<v Speaker 1>All right. And then my final game of this, I've
<v Speaker 1>got number four Ohio State versus number twelve Illinois, and
<v Speaker 1>I've got Ohio State advancing. So for all the confusion,
<v Speaker 1>I really just ended up coming back to the same
<v Speaker 1>normal teams as usual. But all right, who's your final
<v Speaker 1>game that In that quarterfinal matchup, Rob, I.
<v Speaker 2>Got number four Alabama verse number five Notre Dame. This
<v Speaker 2>is a close one, but Alabama sneaks by, and I've.
<v Speaker 1>Got my goodness, gracious, we're just we're getting the same
<v Speaker 1>thing that we always do. We mean, all right, I
<v Speaker 1>have our semifinals right now, and in my semifinal, I
<v Speaker 1>have got number one Clemson versus number four Ohio State
<v Speaker 1>and Ohio State and the Big Ten went out over
<v Speaker 1>the ACC So I've got Ohio State getting through. Who
<v Speaker 1>is your first semi final matchup?
<v Speaker 2>Rob? First semi for me, number one LSU verse number
<v Speaker 2>four Alabama, and I've got LSU advanced.
<v Speaker 1>LSU gets through, all right. Second semifinal, I have Texas
<v Speaker 1>A and M versus Alabama, and I have Alabama coming
<v Speaker 1>out on top, which means I just get back to
<v Speaker 1>the same thing Ohio State versus Alabama in my championship game.
<v Speaker 1>I hate myself, Rob.
<v Speaker 2>Second semi for me, Number three Clemson faces off against
<v Speaker 2>number seven Texas, and I have Clemson advancing. So my final,
<v Speaker 2>I got LSU versus Clemson.
<v Speaker 1>LSU versus Clemson, and I've got Ohio State versus Alabama.
<v Speaker 1>And again, I can talk myself into any of these.
<v Speaker 1>I can talk myself out of any of these. I
<v Speaker 1>don't feel good about any alright, Rob, let's end it.
<v Speaker 1>Who's gonna win your national championship.
<v Speaker 2>I've got Clemson. The defense is going to be a
<v Speaker 2>little bit better. At the end of the day, Devo
<v Speaker 2>finally got into the portal and he's rewarded by another
<v Speaker 2>championship Clemson wins it all this year.
<v Speaker 1>I've got Ohio State winning it all this year and
<v Speaker 1>there's just no way they're gonna go back to back.
<v Speaker 1>How then, how does Ryan Day get fired? But I
<v Speaker 1>have Ohio State winning at all and that just makes
<v Speaker 1>me disappointed to no end because I don't even have
<v Speaker 1>them winning the conference. But we also saw last year
<v Speaker 1>that doesn't always mean anything. I mean, now that you
<v Speaker 1>have the playoff, you don't have to win it all
<v Speaker 1>like he used to. You can you can lose a
<v Speaker 1>time or two and still get through and still win
<v Speaker 1>it either way. Like I mentioned earlier, I would be
<v Speaker 1>thrilled with a lot of these matchups that we just
<v Speaker 1>had and we might be off, but we won't be
<v Speaker 1>off by that much. Well, you know last year was
<v Speaker 1>a mess, and we weren't off by that much. We
<v Speaker 1>still ended up with same basic teams getting through. I
<v Speaker 1>just there's a couple of teams we're not quite sure about,
<v Speaker 1>and there's a couple teams we've got to see if
<v Speaker 1>they can mature and if they can grow up quick
<v Speaker 1>enough to figure some things out. And if they can,
<v Speaker 1>it's gonna get real interesting. Rob every year. We just
<v Speaker 1>cannot wait until the college football season comes around, and
<v Speaker 1>with the tweaks made to the playoffs this year, where
<v Speaker 1>it seems like it just makes a little more of sense.
<v Speaker 1>I'm just a little more excited than usual. I think
<v Speaker 1>we've got some good teams. I don't know that there's
<v Speaker 1>any great teams as a result. Like we just talked about,
<v Speaker 1>we've got twelve to fifteen teams. Legitimately, if things fall
<v Speaker 1>right and get a kid to grow up, get a
<v Speaker 1>player step up, we see it every year. You could
<v Speaker 1>have any one of those teams go all the way,
<v Speaker 1>get on a run. How many teams last year did
<v Speaker 1>we see, you know, Arizona State, We didn't expect them
<v Speaker 1>to be that They almost beat Texas. So, I mean,
<v Speaker 1>this is going to be a wide open year, maybe
<v Speaker 1>even more so than last year when we had talked
<v Speaker 1>about Ohio State and some of those teams. They're gonna
<v Speaker 1>be big dogs this year. I'm not quite so sure.
<v Speaker 1>It's gonna be wide open, and I can't wait.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, I agree, like you said, probably goes seven to
<v Speaker 2>eight deep. For me, that could go either way, you know,
<v Speaker 2>back and forth. And one thing too, we didn't mention
<v Speaker 2>that they did get right about the CF be playoffs.
<v Speaker 2>Is the hosting the home game some of the environments
<v Speaker 2>last year was great and again this season kind of
<v Speaker 2>like we talked about some of these matchups. You know,
<v Speaker 2>watching a team at home, even you know, Penn State
<v Speaker 2>hosting a home game LSU. You know, getting a home
<v Speaker 2>playoff game is you know, just just great, just great TV.
<v Speaker 1>That would be so much fun. And you think about
<v Speaker 1>that first round last year, I think three of the
<v Speaker 1>four teams had snow on the ground when they're playing.
<v Speaker 1>It doesn't get any better. It's phenomenal. I can't wait.
<v Speaker 1>And it's going to be a fun year. You know,
<v Speaker 1>we've got some really fun early season matchups. We've got
<v Speaker 1>some big number one versus Number two possibly opening the season.
<v Speaker 1>I mean, we've got some really really fun games coming. Rob,
<v Speaker 1>once again, I cannot thank you enough for all your
<v Speaker 1>contributions that you make to the dose. Like I said,
<v Speaker 1>you've been doing this probably eight nine years now, coming
<v Speaker 1>in doing college football, coming in doing the NFL. But Rob,
<v Speaker 1>once again, your country has to ask more of you
<v Speaker 1>because we might need you to come back and get
<v Speaker 1>us ready for that NFL season over the next week
<v Speaker 1>or two, because you know, we've got that coming quickly
<v Speaker 1>as well. And speaking of teams or you know, situations
<v Speaker 1>where I'm not exactly sure. I've got one team's team
<v Speaker 1>each heer four and outside of that, I'm not really
<v Speaker 1>sure what's gonna happen in the NFL either. I think
<v Speaker 1>it's gonna be pretty wide open as well. It's going
<v Speaker 1>to be a really really fun year in the NFL.
<v Speaker 2>Though, absolutely, Yeah, looking forward to it. Like I said before,
<v Speaker 2>this is kind of when we do the college football preview.
<v Speaker 2>This is when I know the season is starting, so
<v Speaker 2>college first in NFL. So yeah, Saturdays and Sundays, I'll
<v Speaker 2>be in front of the TV all weekend. Can't wait?
<v Speaker 1>All right, Rob, Well, at some point we're gonna have
<v Speaker 1>to make you, you know, make that drive up north
<v Speaker 1>and you're gonna gonna have to come up here and
<v Speaker 1>visit and spend the weekend watching football. Pier Absolutely, things
<v Speaker 1>move a little slower up north. I want you to know,
<v Speaker 1>a little bit slower, but uh yeah, it's all good.
<v Speaker 1>We're gonna have to figure that out. Might have to
<v Speaker 1>try to figure out got a big fight coming this fall.
<v Speaker 1>Might not try to figure out something for that fight
<v Speaker 1>because we've got a big fight coming. This fall and
<v Speaker 1>I don't know, we haven't really talked about it quite
<v Speaker 1>yet on the Dose, but I want to make sure
<v Speaker 1>we get to that. But Rob, as usual, always enjoy
<v Speaker 1>your visits. Thanks for all that you contribute, and enjoy
<v Speaker 1>having you in every time, and looking forward to breaking
<v Speaker 1>down the NFL here soon as well.
<v Speaker 2>Can't wait see you soon wait.
<v Speaker 1>Next week on the does it is now time for
<v Speaker 1>our annual Daily Dose NFL Preview Spectacular. We will be
<v Speaker 1>breaking down every single team in the NFL. We will
<v Speaker 1>be making our playoff prediction and we will be letting
<v Speaker 1>you know who will be making it all the way
<v Speaker 1>to Super Bowl sixty. And you know, if you've listened
<v Speaker 1>to our annual show in the past, yeah, we've got
<v Speaker 1>a pretty good record. We want to know what's going
<v Speaker 1>to happen this year. Make sure you tune into the
<v Speaker 1>Daily Dose and make sure you let a friend know
<v Speaker 1>to the same. Can't want to say thank you so
<v Speaker 1>much to Big Rob for all that you contribute to
<v Speaker 1>the Daily Dose. And I want to say thank you
<v Speaker 1>to each and every one of you for listening to
<v Speaker 1>the Daily Dose every week. Thank you for the emails,
<v Speaker 1>thank for the text. Think of the tweets, but more
<v Speaker 1>than anything, thank you for sharing the show, for sharing
<v Speaker 1>the videos, and for sharing the articles with something that
<v Speaker 1>you know we absolutely love it when you do that.
<v Speaker 1>I say thank you to JSP. Could not do any
<v Speaker 1>of this without you. I will see you all next Wednesday.
<v Speaker 1>Have a great week.
<v Speaker 2>Everybody, Ryan Day gets fired.
<v Speaker 1>There we go.
