Now, today's message. What we will do is go through today's commentary

So this commentary is like an interview, you flashback kind of point of view

format of the prophet Jonah. All right, so it'll be like an interview

type of format. We'll go through there. Okay, So here we go

The title of this commentary is the Prophet in a funk Jonah. But God

said to Jonah, do you have a right to be angry about divine?

I do? He said, I am angry enough to die Jonah, Chapter

four, verse nine. Good afternoon, Jonah. What's good about it?

Well, that was just a greeting. Are you telling us it's a bad

day? Yes, I am. And the worst of it is that I

just had a performance review with God and it didn't go well. Sorry to

hear that. What seems to be the problem. God keeps asking me to

do things I don't want to do. In fact, when he recruited me

to be a prophet, when he made me to be a prophet, he

called me, I wasn't all that excited about the idea, But apparently God's

not interested in what I think. So you're talking about a long stand a

grievance here. You better believe it. Long stand it and deep running.

But things took a turn for the worst when God told me to travel to

Nineveh. That's the last place on earth I wanted to visit, knowing the

brutally, the brutality of the Assyrians, aggressive and perilistic campaigns. Then God

outlined my mission to warn them about God's punishment unless they repent. Warned them

I wanted them to burn to a cinder. No, I decided that if

I wasn't there, God couldn't use me to speak to this godless city.

I got on the boat and went as far as from Ninava, as far

away from Nineveh as I possibly could. How did that work out? Not

well. I discovered that God was serious enough about Nineveh that he was willing

to mess with my life to get his will done. He sent a storm

against the ship, arranged for me to get thrown overboard, and then provided

me with special transportation back to land. I didn't get this bleached hair and

wrinkled skin from swimming for pleasure, and I still can't get rid of the

strench, the stench from being inside that giant fish. I take it that

you ended up in Nineveh after all. Yes, I delivered God's warning as

unenthusiastically as I could get away with, and as I feared, the people

actually listened. Those Ninevites repented will a disappointment. I wanted them wiped off

the face of the earth, but God spared them. When I got angry,

God just showed me how selfish and unreasonable I've been. So now I'm

angry with myself. See I told you it was a bad day. As

the commentary, Okay, back to the future. Have you ever run away

from something God called you to do? What was the result? How can

you become more submissive to God's will no matter what he calls you to do?
