just go through today's commentary based on Ezra. All right, we'll just run

through that, and then we'll close out with a prayer. We will close

yah. So here we go, delivering the word Ezra. All the people

assembled as one man in the square before the watergate. They told Ezra the

He heard the huge gate close beneath him. The air was sticked with

Ezra was viewing another miracle. The open space inside the gate. People were

can manage. They had asked him to read the law to them orally.

On the wide stone ledge before him, a double scroll lay partly open.

Ezra had supervised this careful copying of Moses's words. He knew that when he

kissed the scroll, he would breathe the rich aroma of fresh forelum. It

was almost time to begin. How would the waiting crowd respond to the word

of God. As he read the first words on the scroll, Ezra felt

the sun behind him warming his shoulders. Within moments, the morning light flooded

the open area where the people stood and rapped attention. Ezra paused for a

breath and heard a noise like a gentle tide sweeping across the crowd below.

He looked down and took in the sight he would never forget the rest of

his life. On the upturned faces of men, women, and children,

he noticed what looked like glittering jewels. The effect was stunning. Then he

almost lost his composure when he realized that he was seeing the reflection of the

sunlight on tears streaming down the faces below him. The sound of soft weeping

reached his ears, another miracle. Realizing that the tide of grief might drown

out the reading of the word, As returned to his helpers and quickly instructed

them to wade into the crowd and acourage their listeners to rejoice over the privilege

of listening to God's word. It was evidence, after all of God's faithfulness.

He had given his people three great gifts, the temple to help them

worship, a wall to remind them of God's protection and his word to guide

them. True elements of the truth would cut deeply, but this day was

one for unmitigated rejoicing. Amen. Back to the future. What do you
