Now, today's message, what we are going to do is go through

this commentary in between first kings, all right. It's based around Samuel and

David and the process of him select the king David, all right. So

we'll just reade through that commentary and then we will close out with prayer.

We will close out with a priestly blessing them. We will close out,

giving all the praise honor Gloyd to the most hot God of Abrahams and Jacob,

and praise. It's only beg. God said, die for our sins,

Amen, Hall, louis y'all. So here we go the kingmaker Samuel.

But the Lord said to Samuel, do not consider his appearance or his

height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the

things. Man looks at man, that man looks at man, looks at

the outward appearance. But the Lord looks at the heart. The Book of

First Samuel, chapter sixteen, verse seven. Samuel glanced at the seven men

standing in the shade. They were impressive specimens. Any of Jesse's sons could

have been God's choice. He was suddenly glad he didn't have to choose.

Just warned him about the danger of judging from a pearance. He smiled sadly,

remembering how impressed he had been at first by Saul's good looks. Samuel

looked around, puzzled. He'd run out of sons and God hadn't chosen any

of them. What was God's plan of the situation. Turning to Jesse,

he inquired, are these it no more sons? The old man slowly counted

the sons one by one. He appeared confused for a moment, then said,

oh, there's one other. Didn't even think of him. My youngest

David is out in the fields with the sheep. The rest of the sons

didn't understand why they had summoned. They had been summoned, but they grumbled

over having to wait for the runt to show up. His place was at

the bottom of the pecking order. Shepherding was a smelly, outdoors, all

in weather, outdoors in all weather protecting sheep chore. Each of them had

done it only until the next brother was old enough. As the youngest.

As it was David's permanent role, it didn't bother them to assign him the

task. It did bother them that he enjoyed it so much so. David

came running in, exuding the pungent sense of field and flock. The brothers

looked on with shock as Samuel removed an oil horn from his robe and poured

the contents on their little brother's head. They couldn't imagine a higher honor or

a more obvious waste, but even they had to admit that as the oil

dripped from David's hair and chin, a certain wild delight and spirit seemed to

fill him. Samuel smiled, David laughed, and a chill went up his

sibling spines. As Samuel walked to Rama, he remembered another little boy left

in the charge of a priest named Eli. He considered how upbringing shapes a

man, how upbringing shapes a man, and how God used even hardships and

pain to prepare his servants. He wondered about David's future. He remembered God's

unusual call in his own life, the unexpected voice in the night that Eli

Read First Samuel chapter one, verses one through twenty eight, and also First

Samuel chapter twenty five. All right, so that is the commentary right there.

So this is basically like a point of view p of view kind of

like flashback of being a Samuel Shoes as Samuel was going out being sent by

the Lord to go annoying to King for Israel. All right, so you

know, never look down on people, you know, you know, you

don't judge a book by its cover. You always remember that God does a

picking and choosing, all right, So we can't be biased or prejudice or

feel a certain tarp way about looking at a certain person. God could use

anybody he wants to desire. So so it's an excellent calling to be chosen

in handa your assignment. Okay, So what I would love to do is

just you know, read the book of First Samuel chapter one, versus one

through twenty eight, and then also just read First Samuel chapter twenty five.

Okay, So let's go through a First sam chapter one. Here we go,

the birth of Samuel. There was a certain man from Ramathaiyam, a

son, then I will give him to the Lord for all the days of

his life, and no razor will ever be used on his head. As

she kept on praying to the Lord, Eli observed her mouth. Hannah was

praying in her heart, and her lips were moving, but her voice was

not heard. Eli thought she was drunk and said to her, how long

will you keep on getting drunk? Get rid of your wine? Not so,

my Lord, Hannah replied, I am a woman who is deeply troubled.

I have not been drinking wine or beer. I was pouring out my

soul to the Lord. Do not take your servant for a wicked woman.

I have been praying here out of my great anguish and grief, Eli answered,

go in peace, and may the God of Israel grant you what you

have asked of him. She said, may your servant find favor in your

eyes. As she went her way and ate something, and her face was

no longer downcast. Early the next morning they arose and worshiped before the Lord,

and then went back to their home at Rana at Ramah. Elk could

not lay with Hannah his wife, and the Lord remembered her. So in

the course of time, Hannah was conceived and gave a birth. Gave birth

to a son. She named him Samuel, saying, because I asked the

Lord for him, Hannah dedicated Samuel. When the men el Canah went up

to fulfill his vow, Hannah did not go. She said to her husband,

after the boy is weaned, I will take him and present him before

Shiloh when they had slaughtered the bull. When he had slaughtered the bull,

they brought the boy to Eli, and she said to him, as surely

as you live, my Lord, I am the woman who stood here beside

you praying to the Lord. I prayed for this child, and the Lord

has granted me what I asked of him. Now, so now I give

him to the Lord for his whole life. He will be given over to

the Lord. And he worshiped the Lord there. Okay, So that was

first Samuel chapter one, verses one through twenty eight. The full and tardiff

All right, first samichapter twenty five. Here we go, David,

Nabal and Abigail. Now Samuel died, and all Israel assembled and mourned for

him, and they buried him at his home in Rama. Then David moved

who had property there at Carmel, was very wealthy. He had a thousand

goats and three thousand sheep, which he was sharing in Carmel. His name

was Nabal, and his wife's name was Abigail. She was an intelligent and

in his dealings. While David was in the desert, he heard that Nabal

is sheep sharing time. When your shepherd's here were with us, we did

not mistreat them, and the whole time they were at Carmel, nothing of

theirs was missing. Ask your own service and they will tell you. Therefore,

be favorable toward my young men. Since we come at a festive time,

please give your servants and your son David, whatever you can find for

them. When David's men arrived, they gave Nabal this message. In David's

name. Then they Waitednbal answered, david servants, who is this David?

Who is this son of Jesse? Many servants are breaking away from their masters

these days. Why should I take my bread and water and the meat I

have slaughtered from my shares and give it to men coming from who knows where.

David's men turned around and went back. When they arrived, they reported

every word. David said to his men, put on your sword. So

they put on their sword, and David put on his About forger men went

up with David, while two hundred stated with the supplies. One of the

servants told Nabal's wife, Abigail, David sent mess from the desert to give

Now, since the Lord has kept you, my master, from bloodshed

and from avenging yourself with your own hands, as surely as the Lord lives,

and as you live, may your enemies and all who attend to harm

my master be like the baal. And let this gift which your servant has

brought to my master be given to the men who follow you. Please forgive

your servants offense, for the Lord will certainly make a lasting dynasty for my

master because he fights the Lord's battles. Let no wrongdoing be found in you

as long as you live, even though someone is pursuing you to take your

life. The life of my master will be bound securely in the bundle of

the living by the Lord, your God. But the lives of your enemies

he will hurl away as from the pocket of a sling. When the Lord

has done for my master every good thing he promised concerning him, and has

appointed him leader over Israel, my master would not have on his conscious the

stagger and burden of needless bloodshed or have or having avenged himself, when the

Lord had brought my master's success. Remember your servant, David said to Abigail,

Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel, who has sent

you today to meet me. May you be blessed for your good judgment and

for keeping me from bloodshed this day, and from avenging myself with my own

hands. Otherwise, as surely as the Lord, God of Israel lives,

who has kept me from harming you, if you had not come quickly to

meet me, not one male belonging to the Ball would have been left alive

by daybreak. Then David accepted from her hand what she had brought him,

has said, go home peace. I have heard your words and granted your

request. When Abigail went to the bal, he was in the house holding

a banquet like that of a king. He was in high spirits and very

drunk. So she told him nothing until daybreak. And in the morning,

when the ball was sober, his wife told him all these things, and

his heart failed him, and he became like a stone. About ten days

later, the Lord struck the ball and he died. When David heard that

Nabal was dead, he said, praise be the Lord, who has upheld

my cause because thebal for treated me with contempt. He has kept his servant

from doing wrong, and has brought the balls wrong down on his own head.

Then David sent word to Abigail asking her to become his wife. His

servants went to Carme Mount and said to Abigail, David has sent this to

you to take you to become his wife. She bowed down with her face

to the ground, and said, here is your maid servant ready to serve

you and wash the feet of my master's servants. Abigail quickly got on a

donkey, and, attended by her five maids, went with Davis's messengers and
