four, verses one through fifteen. Recommended reading the Book of Isaiah chapter forty

verses one through thirteen, and also the Book of Matthew chapter six, verses

nineteen through twenty four. All Right, the tide of this commentary is the

choice, all right. So we know in previous generations and erarors, we

know how many people in our time period have really fought the good fight of

Israel have lost sight of the part God played in their lives. They returned

to worshiping various false gods. Reminded the Israelites of God's central rule in their

history. In their lives, Joshua called them to throw away their idols and

serve God. Joshua's challenged to the Israelite still rings in the ears of believers

to this day. Throughout the world, His statement in Joshua Chapter twenty four,

verse fifteen has inspired millions to dedicate or rededicate their lives to following God's

will and ways, no matter what the cost is. We've all gone through

times when material things are excited. Events have become more important to us than

God. Maybe the urge for a new car or a bigger house has caused

you to push God aside, or perhaps working over time and the hopes again

that big promotion has caused you to ignore God. Can you think of a

time when this has been true for you? At least in part? Joshua

reminds us again that only the love of God lasts forever. It's easy to

forget that earthly things, no matter how tractive they appear, are worthless and

temporary substitutes for God's love. We create our own idols and set up our

own places to worship them. But every idol, no matter how shiny or

attractive at the beginning, will inevitably tarnish and fade away over time. Amen.

Things to take away from the commentary, what idols have you made in

your life? When was the last time you made a choice based on your

devotion to God? What steps can you take to become a man marked by

devotion for God? Amen? People, Let's turn away from idolatry. Turn

away from these false idols. Whether you worship a celebrity or object's material things,

turn away from it. People, Amen, only worship the true God
