message, We're going to go through this commentary within the Book of Numbers,

all right. So we'll go through this commentary, and then we will close

out with a prayer. We will close out with a priestly blessing, and

we will close out giving all the prayers honor glory to the most hot God

Today's Bible reading the Book of Numbers chapter twenty, verses one through thirteen.

Recommended reading the Book of Sega Samuel chapter eleven, verse one all the way

through Second Samuel chapter twelve, verse twenty five, the Book of Luke chapter

twenty two, verses forty seven through sixty two, and also the Book of

John chapter twenty one, verses fifteen through twenty five. The title of this

commentary is Cruel and Unusual. Here we go. In the early hours of

an April morning, two men awakened a doctor named Samuel Mudd. One of

the men had a badly broken leg. Despite the lateness of the hour,

The doctor brought the two inside, treated the injured man, and allowed him

to recuperate in a spare bedroom. Months later, Mud was sentenced to life

in prison for his actions for that early morning was April fifteenth, eighteen sixty

five, just hours after President Abraham Lincoln had been shot. The injured man

Mud had treated was John Wilkes Booth. Samuel Mudd was tried and convicted as

a conspirator in assassination plot. He escaped the death penalty by one vote and

received a life sentence, for which he was later pardoned. Many of his

contemporaries and many historians till still today, are convinced that he got a raw

deal with that conviction. It's easy to wonder that the same thing about Mos

and the story When the Israelites complained about the lack of food and water in

the desert. God instructed most to speak to a rock in order to bring

forth water, but in a rage, Moses struck the rock instead twice.

As a result of his disobedience, Mose was prohibited from entering the promised land.

Think of the shock of that moment. A swift, harsh sentence sent

down from God for a single act provoked by what seems like righteous anger.

In light of the many faithful things most had done. God's punishment may seem

cruel and unusual. After all, the goal of living in the Promised Line

had motivated Moses from the time he had left Egypt. Having his dream taken

away must have felt like a death sentence. Of course, that's not what

God had in mind. Although he allowed Modes to experience the severe consequence of

his actions, God didn't discard the Israelite leader. He didn't end their relationship.

In fact, God continued to use Moses in powerful ways right up until

his death. He blessed Moses' work, guided his steps, and kept him

safe in a hostile environment. God doesn't erase the consequences of our bad actions,

whether they involve a damaged reputation, a ruined friendship or martial separation or

divorce, an addiction of physical ailment, legal action, bankruptcy, or just

a whole lot of self loathing. But he doesn't abandon us either. No

matter what mistakes you've made in your life, God still wants to be in

a relationship with you. He still wants to use you in his kingdom work.

In fact, if you let him, He'll use your in powerful ways

you never thought possible. Amen. Things to take away from the commentary,

if you could undo three decisions in your life, what would they be?

Why? What consequences have you experienced as a result of bad decisions? Do

you still experience guilt about past mistakes? Read First John, chapter one,

verse nine. And when you pray, offer yourself again to be used by

God today? Amen, people, that is the commentary for today. All

right. Let us we all have felt short of God's glory, we all

have, okay, And there's many things that we did in our lifetime that

we weren't too proud of or what have you. And we've all disappointed feilt

God at one point. But God's mercy is unlimited. His love, his

grace is mercy. It last generations, people, it's forever, okay.

So God still loves us and still wants to use us. All right,

So let us not be too hard on ourselves or have low self esteem and

a guilty conscious and all that you know, God forgives us. Okay.

So we are still being used by the Most High despite our past, despite

our mistakes, our bad decisions or what have you? Still here by his

grace and his mercy and his love. Okay, so let us keep being,

Let us be, Let us keep being used by God and make better

choices based on fathers with from now on. Amen. All right, So

there you have it. All right, that is the commentary for today.

Now what I would love to do as I close out is give all the

faith and True Witness, faithful and true with the faithful Witness, the First

first born over all Creation, the Forerunner, the Gate, the Glory
