to read this commentary within the Book of Numbers, and then from there we'll

close out with a prayer. We'll close out with a priestly blessing, and

we'll close out giving all the praise on our glory to the most hot God

of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. And praise has only been gotten some who

right. Today's Bible reading the Book of Numbers chapter nine, verses fifteen through

twenty three. Recommended reading the Book of Exodus chapter fourteen, verse nineteen,

the Book of Numbers, chapter fourteen, verse fourteen, the Book of Nehemiah

chapter nine, verses twelve through twenty one, and also the Book of First

Corinthians chapter ten, verses one through four. The title of this commentary is

patient Obedience. Philip Brooks, a pastor in New England during the late eighteen

hundreds, was known as a calm and relaxed man. But one particular evening,

a friend found him pacing the floor like a cage lion. When a

friend asking what was wrong, Brooks replied, the trouble is I'm in a

hurry, but God isn't. Can you relate? Sometimes the hardest part of

following God is waiting on him to move. At these times, questions come

fast and furious. Why won't our house? So when will I hear something

from the person who interviewed me? How long do I have to wait for

my child's or friends, or parents or boss's attitude to change? The Israelite

to discover this truth, this truth firsthand. God led them through the wilderness,

but not always at the pace they had hoped for. Yet God expected

the people to obey regardless of the way. It's not hard to imagine how

difficult it must have been for the Israelites to be patient and obedient. Because

you experienced this in your own life. Maybe you're waiting for it and answer

the prayer. You know that God's answer is critical, yet he doesn't seem

to be responding. You're in a hurry, but God isn't. And while

the hardest part may be the waiting, learning to trust God in the middle

of all of it is no picnic either. Yet, the Book of Proverbs,

chapter three, verses five through six says trust in the Lord with all

your heart and leaning on your own understanding in all your ways, acknowledging me

he will make your path straight. Obeying and trusting God often requires a measure

of patience. Obedience must be the struggle and desire of our life, writes

Phillips Brooks. Phillips Brooks obedience not hardened, forced, but ready, loving

and spontaneous. So Brooks waited in spite of his moments of impatience. Are

you willing to wait for God, trust his timing and answers, and obey

regardless of the weight amen things to take away from the commentary, why does

God seem to move slowly at times? About what needs or concerns? Are

you waiting to hear a response from God? Pray for patients as you wait?

What practical steps can you take the trust and obey while waiting for God

to answer? In other words, quote unquote, I'll go where you want

me to go, dear Lord, O or mountain or a plane or see

I'll say what you want me to say, Dear Lord. I'll be what

you want me to be quote Mary Brown. All right, So there you

urgency or desperation, scarcity. Just you know, we're all in different conditions

the guaranty of our security, the guaranty of the New Covenant, the
