on point and keep being diligent in the works. Amen, yes, CS,
y'all. So in today's message, I would like to continue the Bible
reading series. Are right, the last episode we finished off the book of
First Thessalonians. Okay, Now we're gonna go to the Book of Second Thessalonians,
all right, So we'll go through with the reading of the Second Thessalonians,
and then we'll close out with a prayer. We'll close up with the
priestly blessing, and we'll close out. We're giving all the praise on and
glory to the most High God of Abraham, Music and Jacob, and praise
has only begune. So die for our sense, Amen, hallelujih y'all.
Yes, CS. Y'all. So let us go through where Second Thessalonians.
Before I start off chapter one, let us read the introduction commentary before we
get into it. Okay, So let's go in to the commentary first,
alright. So with this intro, the author is the apostle Paul. The
audience the church in Thessalonica. The date about eighty fifty one or fifty two,
the setting. The Christians in Thessalonica express their confusion and disappointment when Jesus
doesn't return on their timetable. Paul again writes from Krem to correct the rumor
that Jesus Christ will return immediately Essentials of Second Thessalonians. Some of the Thessalonian
believers think that Paul's first letter confirms that Christ is about to return, so
Paul writes a second letter to correct their misunderstanding. The same struggle to understand
Jese's return continues throughout the history of Christianity. Whilst Scripture repeatedly maintains that on
that none but God knows the time of the Christ's returns Christ's return, some
believers insist on trying to set the date and determine the hour. There are
at least two approaches Christians take to Christ's return, and the impacts of these
varying status and believers in completely different directions. Those who takes Christ's word at
face value live with a firm hope that He could come today. As a
result, they remain fully engaged with life. Those who think they can pinpoint
the day and the hour live with the belief that He will come today or
tomorrow or next Tuesday. As a result, they tend to disengage from life.
As you read Second Thessalonians, look for Paul's instruction on how to live
with a robust hope in Christ's return, along with a dedicated obedience to engage
fully in life and live out his commands each day. What to look for
and Second Thessalonians understanding suffering and persecution, the folly of trying to set a
date for Christ's return, confidence in God's time, and regarding his plan for
the world, understanding that the spread of evil only confirms God's promises. All
right, so let's go to Second Thessalonians Chapter one. Here we go,
All right, let us go to the Second Thessalonians Chapter one. Paul,
Silas and Timothy to the Church of the Thessalonians and God our Father and the
Lord Jesus Christ. Grace and peace to you from God the Father and the
Lord Jesus Christ, thanksgiving and prayer. We ought to always to thank God
for you, brothers, and rightly so, because your faith has grown more
and more, and to love everyone of you has for each other is increasing.
Therefore, among God's churches we boast about your perseverance and faith in all
the persecutions and trials you are enduring. All this is evidence that God's judgment
is right, and as a result you would be counted worthy of the Kingdom
of God for which you are suffering. God God is just. He will
pay back trouble to those who trouble you, and give or leave to you
who are troubled, and to us as well. This will happen when the
Lord Jesus revealed from heaven and blazing fire with his powerful angels. He will
punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our
Lord Jesus. They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the
presence of the Lord and from the majesty of His power. On the day
he comes to be glorified in His Holy people, in His Holy people,
and to be marveled at among all those who have believed. This includes you,
because you believed our testimony to you. With this in mind, we
constantly pray for you that Our God may count you worthy of his calling,
and that by his power he may feel every good purpose of yours and every
act prompted by your faith. We pray this so that the name of our
Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you and him, according to
the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ. All right. So
that's the Book of Second Thessalonians, chapter one reading, all right, as
we review it, it's Paul, Silas and Timothy writing letters to the Church
of Thessalonians. Okay, Thusalonica is like a certain part of Greece, all
right, because remember they were going all throughout Greece, Europe, Italy,
Rome, like you know, all these parts preached the word and write letters
and visitor what have you. Okay. So Paul just goes further to detail
about giving thanksgivings and prayers because he's grateful that the love of them has been
grown in their faith has been grown and how they're boasting, about how the
perseverance in their faith, and how they have perseverance and faith through all the
persecutions and trials that they're enduring. That Paul just goes further to detail about
how God's judgment is right and how to be accounted worthy of the Kingdom of
God for which everyone's suffering. Okay, and he's also just saying how the
Lord will recompense and pay back trouble to those who trouble you and give relieve
to you who are troubled, and to us as well. All right.
Paul goes further to detail, saying how what Jesus revealed when he comes from
heaven and comes down, when he comes back, he'll be emblazing fire with
his powerful angels. It says, he will punish those who do not know
God personally and who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. You
know, y'all, it's very important that we know the Lord personally man through
encounters and through interactions or what have you. Okay, make sure you keep
having those accounts with the Most High, and you keep getting more close to
him in his presence, and make sure you obey the gospel as well.
Man, because Paul made it very brief that those who don't know the Most
High personally and those who don't obey the gospel will not will they'll get punished,
They'll get punished with everlasting destruction and shut off in the press of the
Lord from the master of his power on the day comes to be glorified with
his people. All right, So hey, man, he's coming back,
y'all, So stand that, okay. And then Paul just goes further to
detail by explaining his prayers for everybody and everybody will fulfill a good purpose,
and every act of faith prompted by faith, and that you just think to
the Most High and his son. Okay. So that is Second Thusalonians chapter
one reading. Okay, now let us go to Second Thusalonians chapter two,
the man of lawlessness concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and and our
being gathered to him. We ask you, brothers, not to become easily
unsettled or alarmed by some prophecy, report or let us supposed to have come
from us saying that the day of the Lord has already come. Don't let
anyone deceive you in any way for that day will not come until the rebellion
occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction,
he will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is
worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God's temple, proclaiming himself to
be God. Don't you remember that when I was with you, I used
to tell you these things? And now you know what is holding him back,
so that he may be revealed at the proper time. For the secret
power of lawlessness is already at work, but the one who now holds it
back will continue to do so till he is taken out of the way.
And then and then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Gies
will overthrow with the breath of his mouth and destroyed by the splendor of his
coming. The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with the work
of Satan, displayed in all kinds of counterfeit, miracles, signs, and
wonders, and in every sort of evil that deceives those who are perishing.
They perish because they refuse to love the truth and to be and so be
saved for this reason, God has sends them a powerful delusion, so that
they will believe the lie, and so that all will be condemned who have
not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness. Stand firm. But we
ought to always, But we ought to always. Thank God for you,
brothers, love by the Lord, because from the beginning God chose you to
be saved through just sact, to find work of the spirit, and through
belief in the truth He called you to. He called you to this through
our gospel, that you might share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
So, then, brothers, dad firm and hold to the teachings we
passed on to you, whether by a word of mouth or by letter.
May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and
by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, encourage your hearts and
strengthen you in every good deed and word. Alright, alright, So that's
the Book of Second Thessalonians, Chapter two reading. Okay, Now, that
was a pretty heavy reading because it goes further to detail about the man of
lawlessness, discusses about Satan, and As Paul goes into detail about it,
he's just saying, like, don't get so alarmed by some so called prophecy
or report or letters supposed to coming from us, saying the day, the
day of the Lord has already come. Paul was talking about that because people
kept trying to predict when Jesus coming back. So many people or experts or
so called scientists, all types of people and different endeavors try to predict Jesus
coming back by doing all types of stuff, whether it was divination or fortune
telling, all types of people was into all types of stuff and trying to
figure out on their own when He's coming back. But as we know,
even Jesus don't know when. Even the angels don't even know, only the
Father thos. Okay, so Paul's trying to tell them like, hey,
God's timing is due timing, and a lot of things have to play out
prophetic, and the prophetic would probabs to be fulfilled before Christ he returns.
Okay, So a lot more wickedness, lawlessness and evil has to come before
Christ comes back, all right, And it goes further to detail about Satan,
the lawless man, the man of lawlessness, you know, the anti
Christ, the deceiver, all types of crazy stuff, you know what I
mean, destruction and wickedness, rebellious, blasphemous things, and what have you.
And Revelations goes further to detail about it as well, and just basically
saying like, once the evil and rebellion comes out, you know, that's
when Christ will come back. Okay, So plenty of things have to play
out before Jesus comes back. Okay, let's see what we have here.
And furthermore, Paul goes into detail, saying that that you know, Jesus
will be revealed at the proper time, okay. And Paul goes further saying
that the secret power lawless is already at work. So all this evil and
everything, all this lawlessness has already happening right now, all right. And
Paul says that and then the lawless won't be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus
will overthrow with the breath of his mouth and destroyed by the splendor of his
coming. All right. The coming of the lawless one will be in accurse
with the work of Satan displayed in all kinds of counterfeit, miracles, signs,
and wonders. Look at that and in every sort of evil that devises
those who are perishing. So so obviously Satan is going to use all of
his fallen angels, his devices as agents, and possibly all this even crazy
technology artificial intelligence to do all these false miracles, false signs and wonders.
Okay, technology is going to be used and the end times for that as
well. Okay, so be mindful of that. You know, we live
in a very tech heavy generation, all right. Furthermore, Paul goes into
detail about how God sends them a powerful delusion for them to believe in the
lie and that they'll be condemned because they not believe the truth but have delighted
in wickedness. Okay, so a lot of people are going to reject the
faith, reject the truth, and reject the things at the most high and
be delusion. Okay, but under this type period is a great deception,
a great delusion. Okay. You see people not believing in the Lord,
not believing in the Bible, not believing in that Gess will come back,
all those different things. But as we already know, probas to be fulfilled
right now, man, So God, let these people know about the gospel
and know what time. Let him know what time it is, okay.
Furthermore, Apaulgi stresses to everybody to stay at firm, all right, and
that you know you stay firm in the Gospel, you stay firm into the
truth, and you don't waver, and that you make sure that you always
be with the Lord and be encouraged and be of good hope all right,
always be strengthened through good deeds and good words as well. All right.
So that's second. That's Salonius chapter two reading. I would like to read
it in commentary scripture with their second Thatsalonians title. God is Just. Second
Thatsalonians, Chapter one, verse six. God is just. He will pay
back trouble to those who trouble you, amen, So stop tripping them so
much and stop being something forgiven about who hurts you and who did this that
to you. The Lord is going to get them. Vengeance belongs to the
Lord. Amen. So don't you worry about that, all right? Yes,
yes, y'all. So that wraps that up. Now, let us
go to a second. That's Salonians chapter three. All right. Second that
Salonius chapter three. Here we go, request for prayer. Finally, brothers,
pray for us that the message of the Lord may spread rapidly and be
honored, just as it was with you. And pray that we may be
delivered from wicked and evil men. For not everyone has faith, but the
Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen and protect you from the evil one.
We have confidence in the Lord that you are doing and will continue to
do things we command. May the Lord direct your hearts into God's love and
Christ's perseverance. Warning against idleness, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ,
we command you, brother, to keep away from every brother who is
idle and does not live according to the teaching you received from us. For
you yourselves know how you ought to follow our example. We were not idle
when we were with you, nor did we eat anyone's food without paying for
it. On the contrary, we worked night and day, laboring and toiling,
so that we would not be a burden to any of you. We
did this not because we do not have the right to such help, but
in order to make ourselves a model for you to follow. For even when
we were with you, we gave you this rule. If a man will
not work, he shall not eat. We hear that some among you are
idle. They they are not busy. They are busy bodies. Such people
we commanded urging the Lord's Christ to settle down and earn that bread, earn
the bread they eat. And as for you, brothers, never tire of
doing what is right. If anyone does not obey our instruction in this letter,
take special note of him. Do not associate with him, in order
that he may feel ashamed. Yet do not regard him as an enemy,
but warn him as a brother. Final greetings, the second right, final
greetings. Now, may the Lord of Peace himself give you peace at all
times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you. I,
Paul, write this greeting in my own hand, which is the distinguishing
mark in all my letters. This is how I write, the grace of
our Lord, Jesus Christ be with you all. Yes, yes, y'all.
So that is Second Thessalonians, Chapter three. Reading. Okay, very
brief effective reading right there. Okay, So as we go through that,
Paul is just go further to detail about requesting for prayer and being faithful and
being strong and walking honor, and that everyone you know keeps the faith and
keep the confidence through it all all right, and letting us know that not
everybody's gonna have the faith, and I have resking to believe, so you
just keep on working through all of that, okay. Furthermore, Paul goes
into detail about idleness and making sure that people are not lazy or counterproductive or
not doing works for the kingdom. Okay, pauls is going to detail about
how much him and everybody worked hard in the kingdom. They worked hard within
the ministry, they worked hard when it came to worship, praised spreading the
gospel, working day and night, toiling hard, all right, to go
from one place to another to get this word out. No excuses, no
handouts, no laziness, no idleness. Okay, Paul said, if a
man don't work, he don't eat. Amen. So let's always stick to
that, okay. And not to be a busybody. We must be busy
for the Kingdom of Heaven. We must be busy for God, all right.
We have to He gave us twenty four hours or whatever we doing with
our twenty four hours? What are we doing within twenty four hours? Okay?
He gave us all these days, years, and months, weeks,
and what are we doing with it? Okay, let us be more productive
and hard working for the Lord, and let us really make sure we spread
it on to other people and be better examples and models, all right.
And furthermore, and Second Thessalonians chapter three, Paul goes further in detail about
the final greetings and just you know, saying his farewells in his own letters,
in his own hands, and making sure that they all have the grace
of the Lord's Christ be with you all, all right. So and Paul
just expressing that always give him, let the Lord give you peace, and
let the Lord be with you all. Okay. So that was Paul's final
greetings. All right. Well, I would love to do is read this
commentary that's within Second Thessalonians and go from there. Okay, So here we
go today's Bible reading. Second Thessalonians chapter one, versus three through twelve.
Recommended reading the Book of Matthew chapter five, versus one through twelve, the
Book of Acts chapter five versus twenty six through thirty three, also Acts and
also verses forty through forty two, and a Book of Romans chapter five,
verses three through five, and also a Book of Hebrews chapter eleven verses thirty
two through thirty eight. The title of this commentary is Amazing Dreams, all
right, Amazing Dreams. In nineteen eighty, doctors diagnosed Chris, a seven
year old boy with leukemia. Chris wanted to be a motorcycle police officer when
he grew up. A friend of Chris's family spoke to a member of the
Arizona Highway Patrol about the boys dream, and a few days later several motorcycle
officers stopped in to meet Chris. But after the meeting, the officers wanted
to do more. They arranged for Chris to ride in the department's helicopter with
a note with a local news reporter who filmed Chris's dream coming true. Eventually,
the boy also received a ride in a patrol car, a ride on
a patrol motorcycle with Ian's blearing, a customer uniform, and even a battery
powered moor cycle to replace his wheelchair. Later that year, when Chris succumbed
to the leukemia that had ravished his body, the motorcycle officers granted full department
honors to this falling officer who had touched them so deeply. More, however,
the dreams of this boy didn't die with him. They live on in
the Make a Wish Foundation, an organization that helps fulfill the wishes of thousand
children who suffer from life threatening illnesses. It's amazing how one person's quiet suffering
could grow to something so huge. The apostle Paul wrote to the Thessalonian believers
to praise the amazing expansion of their faith. In fact, it wasn't just
their faith that had grown, so had the love they demonstrated toward each other.
This increased occurred despite the suffering they were endured as both Jews and fellow
gentiles persecuted them. Or did this amazing growth occur because of that suffering and
persecution? When we suffer, God remains in control in good times and in
bad. He doesn't leave us to our own resources. Rather, he provides
the strength that allows us to hold on. God sometimes permits us to suffer,
because by carrying all we gain strength and moral character. Are you suffering?
What amazing thing does God have in store for you? God will walk
with you as you struggle through each agonize a step, enabling you to grow
in faith and to demonstrate love toward those around you. Amen. Amen,
Things to take away from this commentary. Can you recall people who've suffered yet
seem to have an unmistakable sense of peace. How do you think they were
able to remain calm in the midst of their troubles. Think back through the
most difficult times of your life. Did you grow spiritually during those experiences?
If so, in what ways did you grow? What steps can you take
to become more faithful in loving, even and perhaps especially during times of tribal
in times of trial. It's a great reflective questions, y'all. Amazing dreams.
Yes, yes, y'all, fathers will be done. Let the Lord
have his way. Amen. He works in mysterious ways. Have faith to
him and trust in him. People stop thinking so ordinary and so low an
average. We serve a amazing, mighty wonderful God. We don't serve an
average God. We don't serve that. We serve a mighty, awesome,
excellent God. Amen. God is about excellency. So your faith got to
be on point, the alignment, your obedience, it all got to be
on point. Man, We touch and degree, y'all. So that is
the book of the Second Thessalonians. Okay, just three chapters in it.
First Thesalonians have five chapters. Second Thesalonians had three chapters in it. Okay,
So that is the word and the message for today, all right.
So yes, yes, y'all, a very great, excellent reading. And
I pray that you all read the Word for yourselves and be doers of the
Word, and you apply to your life and practice these things and what have
you. Okay. So let us always through the Lord's will that's within his
working in his word, and always praise him for it. All right.
So there you have it, all right. What I'll love to do is
our close out is give all the praise, honor glory to the most High
God of Abraham, mysc and Jacob, and praise only be God, so
