we'll close out with prayer. We'll close out with the priestly bless him,
and we'll also close out we're giving all the prayers honor glory to the most
High God of Abraham isasc and Jacob and praise his only big guy and son
who died for our sins. Amen, hallelujah. All right, y'all,
So let us stay strong, y'all, be safe out there, y'all take
it one day at a time, okay. Alright, alright, so let
us go to the Book of John chapter four. All right, the Book
of John chapter four. Here we go. Jesus talks with the Samaritan woman.
The Pharisees heard that Jesus was gaining and baptizing more disciples than John,
although in fact it was not Jesus who baptized but his disciples. When the
Lord learned of this, he left Judea and went back once more to Galilee.
Now he had to go through Samaria, so he came to a town
in Samaria called Seshar Saieshar Nearer the plot of ground Jacob had given to a
son, Joseph. Jacob's well was there and Jesus. Jesus was tired as
he was from the journey. He sat down by the well. It was
about the sixth hour when a Samaritan woman came to draw water. Jesus said
to her, will give me a drink. His disciples had gone into the
town to buy food. Excuse me, the Samaritan woman said to him,
you are a Jew and I am a Samaritan woman. How can you ask
me for a drink? For Jews do not associate with Samaritans. Jesus answered
her, if you knew the gift of God and who it is that ask
you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have gave
had given you living water, sir. The woman said, you have nothing
to draw with, and the well is deep. Where can you get this
living water? Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the
well and drank from it himself, as did also his sons and his flocking
herds. Jesus answered, everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again.
But whoever drinks the water I give, he will never thirst again. Indeed,
the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling
up to eternal life. The woman said to him, Sir, give me
this water so that I won't get thirsty and have to keep coming here to
draw water. He told her, go call your husband and come back.
I have no husband, she replied. Jesus said to her, you are
right when you say you have no husband. The fact is you have had
five husbands, and the man you now have is not your husband. What
you have just said is quite true, sir. The woman said, I
can see that you are a prophet. Our fathers worshiped on this mountain,
but you Jews claim that the place where we must worship is in Jerusalem.
Jesus declared, believe me, woman, A time is coming when you will
worship the Father. Neither on this mountain nor Jerusalem. Samaritans worship what you
do not know. We worship what we do know, for salvation is from
the Jews. Yet a time is coming and has now come, when the
true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth. For they are the
kind of worshippers. The Father seeks God his spirit, and his worshippers must
worship in spirit and in truth. The woman said, I know that Messiah
called Christ is coming. When he comes, he will explain everything to us.
Jesus declared, I speak to you am he The disciples rejoined Jesus.
Just then his disciples returned and were surprised to find him talking with a woman.
But no one asked what do you want or why are you talking with
her? Then leaving her water jar, the woman went back to the town
and said to the people, come see a man who told me everything I
ever did. Could this be the Christ? They came out of the town
and made their way toward him. Meanwhile, his disciples urged him rabbiat something,
but he said to them I have food to eat that you know nothing
about. Then his disciples said to each other, could someone have brought him
food? My food, said Jesus, is to do the will of him
who sent me, and to finish his work. Do you not say four
months more and then the harvest. I tell you. Open your eyes and
look at the fields. They are ripe for harvests. Even now the reaper
draws his wages. Even now he harvests the crop for eternal life, so
that the sower and the reaper may be glad together. Thus the saying one
souls and another reaps is true. I sent you to reap what you have
not worked for. Others have done the hard work, and you have reaped
the benefits of their labor. Many Samaritans believe. Many of the Samaritans from
that town believed in him because of the woman's testimony. He told me everything
I ever did. So when the Samaritans came to him, they urged him
to stay with them. He stayed two days, and because of his words,
many more became believers. They said to the woman, we no longer
believe just because of what you said. Now we have heard for ourselves,
and we know that this man really is the savior of the world. Jesus
heals the official son the official's son. After the two days, he left
for Galilei. Now Jesus himself had pointed out that a prophet has no honor
in his home in his own country. When he arrived in Galilei, the
Galileians welcomed him. They had seen all that he had done in Jerusalem at
the Passover feast, for they also had been there. Excuse me once more.
He visited Kanna in Galilei, where he had turned the water into wine.
And there was a certain royal official whose son lay sick at Capernam Capernaum.
When this man heard that Jesus arrived in Galilei from Judea, he went
to him and begged him to come and heal his son, who was close
to death. Unless you people seem miraculous signs and wonders, Jesus told him,
you will never believe. The royal officials said, sir, come down
before my child dies. Jesus replied, you may go, Your son will
live. The man took Jesus at his word and departed. While he was
still on the way, his servants met him with the news that his boy
was living. When he inquired as to the time when his son got better,
they said to him, the fever left him yesterday at the seventh hour.
Then the father realized that this was the exact time at which Jesus has
said to him, your son will live. So he and all his household
believed this was the second miraculous sign that Jesus performed, having come from Judea
to Galilee. All right, all right, So that's the Book of John
chapter four reading, A very beautiful reading. As we review the Book of
John chapter four, it goes into detail about Jesus having the discussion with the
Samaritan woman. And this is a story that many people love to discuss,
interpret and break down and explain. It's a very beautiful story because you know,
they all are by the water well, getting water, what have you,
and a Samaritan woman, you know she's a bit hostile towards him,
but what have you just and have a conversation or whatnot. And then you
know, Jesus just lets her know, like, hey, you drink any
type of water, you're gonna always be thirst again. You drink my water,
the true living water, You'll never thirst again. And I just think
that's a very beautiful saying. That's very awesome to hear, because you know,
Jesus is the true living waters Man, and once you really have a
close relationship with Jesus, the things of the world don't even get to you
no more. You don't have a crave or urge for the things of earth
anymore, because once you have Jesus, that's like really your everything. You
know, he fulfills the love, your needs, your thirst, your hunger,
your needs. He fulfills everything, you know what I mean. He
could really heal you, He could do all these amazing things for you in
your life. So once you have Jesus in your life, it's the best
moment, best experience ever. That's the best person you could ever have a
relationship with. So that's basically what Jesus was, you know, breaking down
to the Samaritan woman. He also let her know about her martial status,
of her having multiple husbands and things of that nature. So Jesus read right
through her. And that's the powerful discernment right there, where you could just
meet someone on the spot and just you know them. You know, true
discernment comes from the most high. Those are heavily gifts, you know,
that discernment, wisdom, knowledge, understanding, seeing through things that people don't
see or what have you. Very powerful discernment, and she went back to
gather more people, more Samaritan people to him, and you know, they
all believed and what have you. All right, so that's very beautiful as
well. And there's also more baptism around that time partent as well within that
area also. And then you know, and her being a Samaritan, you
know, Jesus told her like, hey, you Samaritans, worship what you
do not know. We worship what we do know. And Jesus declaring that
for salvation is from the Jews, all right, so salveash is from the
Jews. And what I also love what Jesus said is that he says,
yet a time is coming and has now come, when the true worshipers will
worship the Father and Spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshippers
The Father seeks God is spirit, and his worshippers must worship in spirit and
in truth. That's very powerful words. Right. There are people, you
know, a lot of people, their worship is kind of vain and there's
no truth in spirit to the way people kind of go about things today.
When you see the world as it is. But Jesus declares, he tells
us about worship and truth and spirit and the apportance of it. You know
how God seeks true worshippers are right, So let us always worship in truth
and spirit. Let us not be vain or seeking male validation and doing things
for extra touction. We should always be worshiping the most High and truth in
spirit. All right. And in the disciples. They came back from getting
food from the town and rejoined with Jesus and just gathered around with the Sumaritans
as well. As Jesus was talking with the woman. Also a review of
the Book of John chapter four. Jesus also heals a sick boy who was
a royal official son. All right, So Jesus healed that man son right
within the moment. Jesus told the man that your son will live. That's
the same time he got healed instantly. Amen. So that's just very beautiful.
That's very very beautiful to signs and the miracles and wonders that Jesus did.
Did you know today's world, with everything going on this climate, people
need instant healing, instant deliverance, instant repentance, instant baptism, and people
just need it instantly, like we need the Lord more than ever, you
know what I mean. And great things take time. You know, there's
certain things that you have to be patient about with your life when it comes
to waiting on the Lord for things, because the Bible does talk about waiting
on the Lord, trusting the Lord, and due timing things of that nature,
of course. But when it comes to like healing and all those different
things, some people have different ways of process of it. But with Jesus
and they were healing on the spot, they were healing instantly, you know
what I mean. So people really need instant healing from from the Lord in
his Son's name, by the finger of God, by the power of God
in Jesus name, by the Blood, by his power. People need instant
healing, man, People really need it, you know so much. People
with so much different health conditions going on today's world. So people really need
the finger of God in their lives, ain't man, all right? So
what I love to do is just read this in commentary scripture within the Book
of John, chapter four titled God Seeks Worshippers the Book of John, chapter
four, Verse twenty three. Yet a time is coming and has now come,
when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit of truth, for
they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks beautiful all right. So that's
the incommentary scripture. Now, before I get into the Book of John chapter
five, I want to read this commentary thousand John four. Okay, So
here we go. Today's Bible reading the Book of John chapter four, verses
one through twenty six. Recommended reading Psalm two, verses one through twelve,
the Book of Isaiah chapter forty two, verses one through twenty five, the
Book of Philippians Philippians, chapter two, verses one through eighteen. And the
title of this commentary is called the one We all know the excitement of discovery
that makes her shout. This is the one we search for, the right
college, career, opportunity, house of wife. When we find it or
her, we know this is the one. The woman at the well must
have felt rightly that she had found the one. She seemed to be searching
for something and said to Jesus, I know that Messiah's coming verse twenty five.
Imagine her thrill when Jesus responded, I am he verse twenty six and
her excitement, she left her water jar and ran to bring others to see
the One. An important difference distinguishes the discovery of Jesus from all other discoveries.
You choose a college, or a home, or a new car.
While your decision brings a feeling of excitement, another choice probably would have served
you just as well. However, in the case of Jesus, no other
choice could have served as well. If Jesus is the one, then nothing
else and no one else can ever be the one. Only Jesus can offer
our highest good or claim our highest allegiance. If Jesus is the one,
Corporate America can't make that claim. We might be grateful for opportunities for a
meaningful work and the means of providing for our families, but we can't trust
our ultimate security and well being to a company or career. If Jesus is
the one. Political institutions can't feel that role. They provide stability and order,
but we can't pledge our ultimate fidelity to governments or political parties. No
other person can be the one. Godly leaders inspire us with vision and courage.
Our fathers offer us a heritage and send us forth to become men friends,
tell us the truth, and stand by us in tough times. But
none of them can offer the life that only God can give. Of course,
we commit ourselves to these other allegiances. We act in faithfulness to our
wives and friends, But our ultimate allegiance must belong to Jesus alone. After
all, he is the one and only one. Amen. Beautiful commentary.
Things to take away from the commentary review the important relationships in your life with
your company, your friends, your church. Have you surrendered allegiance to any
of them above your allegiance to Jesus Christ? What steps can you take to
return your ultimate allegiance to Jesus alone? Why must your ultimate allegiance be to
Jesus? Very great read, very great commentary, very reflective. Amen.
Yes, yes, he is the one, aim and the only one.
Hallelujah. All right. So that's the Book of John chapter four reading.
Now let us get into the Book of John chapter five. All right,
the Book of John chapter five. Here we go, the healing at the
pool. Sometime later, Jesus went up to Jerusalem for a feast of the
Jews. Now there is in Jerusalem, near the Sheet Gate a pool which,
in a remake Aramaic is called Beth Beth d. Sorry for that,
y'all. Beth Beth is d and which is surrounded by five covered colonnades.
Here a great number of disabled people used to lie, the blind, the
lame, the paralyzed. One who was there had been an invalid for thirty
eight years. When Jesus saw him lying there and learned that he had been
in this condition for a long time, he asked him, do you want
to get well? Sir the valid? I have no one to help me
into the pool. When the water is thirred. While I am trying to
get in, someone else goes in, goes down ahead of me. Then
Jesus said to him, get up, pick up your mat, and walk.
At once the man was cured, He picked up his mat and walked.
The day on which this took place was a sabbath, and so the
Jews said to the man who had been healed, it is the sabbath.
The law forbids you to carry your mat. But he replied, the man
who made me well said to me, pick up your mat and walk.
So they asked him, who is this fellow who told you to pick it
up and walk. The man who was healed had no idea who it was,
for Jesus had slipped away into the crowd that was there. Later,
Jesus found him at the temple and said to him, see you are well
again. Stop sinning, or something worse may happen to you. The man
went away and told the Jews that it was Jesus who made him well again
life through the son. So, because Jesus was doing these things on the
Sabbath, the Jews persecuted him. Jesus said to them, my father is
always at his work to this very day, and I too am working.
For this reason, the Jews tried all the harder to kill him. Not
only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God his own
father, making himself equal with God. Jesus gave them this answer. I
tell you the truth. The son can do nothing by himself. He can
do only what he sees his father doing. Because whatever the father does,
the son also does. For the father loves the son and shows him all
he does. Yes to your amazement, he will show him even greater things
than these. For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life,
even so the son gives life to whom he is pleased to give it.
Moreover, the Father judges no one, but has entrusted all judgment to
the Son, that all may honor the son, just as they honor the
father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who
sent him. I tell you the truth. Whoever hears my word and believes
him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned. He has
crossed over from death to life. I tell you the truth. A time
is coming. It has now come when the dead will hear the voice of
the Son of God, and those who hear will live. For as the
Father has life in himself, so he has granted the Son to have life
in himself, and he has given him authority to judge, because he is
the son of man. Do not be amazed at this, for a time
is coming when all who are in their graves will hear his voice and come
out. Those who have done good will rise to live, and those who
have done evil will rise to be condemned. By myself, I can do
nothing. I judge only as I hear, and my judgment is just,
for I seek not to please myself, but him who sent me testimonies about
Jesus. If I testify about myself, my testimony is not valid. There
is another who testifies in my favor, and I know that his testimony about
me is valid. You have sent to John, and he has testified to
the truth. Not that I accept human testimony, but I mentioned it that
you may be saved. John was a lamp that burned and gave light,
and you chose for a time to enjoy his life. I have testimony weightier
than that of John, for the very work that the Father has given me
to finish at which I am doing, testifies that the Father has sent me.
And the Father who sent me has himself testified concerning me. You have
never heard his voice, nor seen his form, nor does his word dwell
in you, for you do not believe the one he sent. You diligently
study the scriptures because you think that by them you possess eternal life. These
are the scriptures that testify about me. Yet you refuse to come to me
to have life. I do not accept praise from men. I know you.
I know that you do not have the love of God in your hearts.
I have come in my Father's name, and you do not accept me.
But if someone else comes in his own name, you will accept him.
How can you believe if you accept praise from one another, yet make
no effort to obtain the praise that comes from the only God. But do
not think I will accuse you before the Father. Your accuser is Moses,
on whom your hopes are set. If you believe Moses, you would believe
me, for he wrote about me. But since you do not believe what
he wrote, how are you going to believe what I say? There you
go. That is the Book of John chapter five readings. Jesus letting them
Pharisees know what time it is, letting them Jews know what time it is.
Actually, all time people kept confronting Jesus and whatnot. Jesus always had
a way to counter what they were saying with the word and witnesses and truthful
testimonies. Don't have you all right? So as we go through the Book
of John chapter five, as we review it, it goes further into detail
about the healing at the pool, how Jesus helped the man and told him
to get up, take up his mat, and walk, and he was
well. It was a sabbath as well, and what have you. And
then you know, the Jews kept confronting him about that, about doing stuff
on the Sabbath. And what's interesting about Jesus healing this man too by the
pool is that, you know when when Jesus found him at the temple,
he said to him, see you are well again, Stop sinning or something
worse may happen to you. You know, that's a very powerful thing.
He says, stop sinning or something worse may happen to you. Because the
thing about being set free or delivered, you know, it goes back to
that scripture of Jesus describing the signs of Jonah, and he talked about how
if one person is delivered set free, and demons and what not are cast
off from a person's body. The one demon that comes out, they come
back seven times more, trying to go back into the swept clean house of
the temple. Right, so Jesus telling us delivered person, like, when
you're delivered and you got those demons cast it out, you're healed or what
have you. If you go back to backsliding or sending, it gets worse
for you because the seven the demons that was cast it out of you,
they're gonna come back with seven more. So that's why Jesus told him to,
you know, stop stop sending, all right, or something worse may
happen to you. So gotta be firm. People, gotta be firm,
Okay, Gotta be firm about this, all right. The spiritual warfare is
intense. Satan does not like to see God's people are free. You gotta
understand, So you gotta resist send people. You gotta resist them, temptations,
backsliding, things of that nature. Okay. There's freedom and liberty in
Christ, y'all. So Jesus told him to stop sinning or gets worse,
okay. And also, as we reviewed the Book of John chapter five,
Jesus just describing more how this life through the son and how he's also honoring
the Father in the process of that as well, and saying, if you
honor me, you out of the one who sent me, and expressing that
how the Father gave Jesus his son the power and authority of judgment and judge
of people, all right. And yes, yes, he also just goes
more into detail about how John testified about him, but he was saying he
doesn't really want testimony of man. He just wants to bear a testimony witness
of the Father as Jesus saying that, all right, so let's see what
we have here, because Jesus holds testimonies about how the Father sent him to
give him work to finish. All right, that's jesus testimony standing on,
you know. And it's interesting because what Jesus also says in the Book of
John chapter five, he says, he legently study the scriptures because you think
that by them you possess eternal life. These are the scriptures that testify about
me. Yet you refuse to come to me to have life. So he
was basically getting that people who just like to read the Bible just for the
sake of it, but they're not willing to still accept him as who he
ask who ask who he is? As the One, as the Son,
as the Savior, things of that nature. Because there's people like that.
There's people who will like read scripture or do all types of different things,
but they still won't accept Jesus wholeheartedly. They won't accept that or the one
that sent them to wholeheartedly. That was the problem with the Jews, the
Pharisees, the law debaters, the scribes. They were so like religious and
so upede and about traditions, that they weren't willing to accept Jesus and the
things he did, how he went about things, and the one who sent
them. All right, son, till this day people still like that.
People still have that Pharisee spirit, They still have that law debating spirit,
all right. So, so as important to accept Jesus and your heart man,
except the love of God in your heart. People, It's very important,
all right. And with chapter five of John, Jesus also goes into
detail. He's basically saying, like, hey, you know, Moses was
the accuser and not him. And Moses even wrote about Jesus, and he
said, if you know Jesus said, if you believe Moses, you would
believe me for what he wrote about me. But since you do not believe
what he wrote, how are you going to believe what I say? Because
they were so stuck on listens to things of Moses that they've even forgot that
most even wrote about Jesus. And that's a thing. So they were willing
to accept moses words of how you want to buy everything in the law,
but they weren't willing to accept Jesus and how to go about the salvation or
what have you. Okay, So that's the Book of John chapter five.
Reading. I would like to read this in commentary scripture, whereas titled God
is Life the Book of John cha chapter five, verse twenty six. For
as the Father has life in himself, so he has granted the son to
have life in himself. All right. So that's the commentary scripture in the
Book of John chapter five. All right. Now let us go into the
Book of John chapter six. All right, the Book of John chapter six.
Here we go. Jesus feeds to five thousand. Sometime after this,
Jesus crossed to the far shore of the Sea of Galilee, that is,
the Sea of Tiberius, and a great and a great crowd of people followed
him because they saw the miraculous signs he had performed on the sick that Jesus
went up on the mountain side and sat down with his disciples, the jew
The passover feast was near. When Jesus looked up and saw a great crowd
coming toward him. He said to Philip, where shall we buy bread for
these people to eat? He asked us only to test them, for he
already had in mind what he was going to do. Philip answered, eight
months wages would not buy enough bread for each one to have a bite.
Excuse me. Another of his disciples, Andrew Simon, Peter's brother, spoke
up, here's a boy with five small barley loaves and two small fish.
But how far will they go among so many? Jesus said, have the
people sit down. There was plenty of grass in that place, and the
men sat down, about five thousand of them. Jesus then took the loaves,
gave thanks, and distributed to those who were seated as much as they
wanted. He did the same with the fish when they had all. When
they had all, when they all had enough to eat, he said to
disciples, gathered the pieces that are left over. Let nothing be wasted.
So they gathered them and filled twelve baskets with the pieces of the five barley
loaves left over by those who had eaten. After the people saw the miraculous
sign that Jesus did, they began to say, surely this is the prophet
who was to come into the world. Jesus, knowing that they intended to
come and make him king by force, withdrew again to a mountain by himself.
Jesus walks on water, walks on the water. When even it came,
his disciples went down to the lake, where they got into a boat
and set off across the lake for Capernaum Capernaum. By now it was dark
and Jesus had not yet joined them. A strong wind was blowing and the
waters grew rough. When they had rowed three or three and a half miles,
they saw Jesus approaching a boat, walking on the water, and they
were terrified, but he said to them it is I, don't be afraid.
Then they were willing to take him into the boat, and immediately the
boat reached the shore where they were heading. The next day, the crowd
that had stayed on the opposite shore of the lake realized that only one boat
had been there, and that Jesus had not entered it with his disciples,
but that they had gone away alone, that some boats from Tiberius, landing
near the place where the people had eaten the bread after the Lord had given
thanks. Once the crowd realized that neither Jesus nor disciples were there, they
got it to the boats and went to Capernaum Capernaum in search of Jesus.
Jesus the Bread of life. When they found him on the other side of
the lake, they asked him, Rabbi, when did you get here.
Jesus answered, I tell you the truth. You are looking from me,
not because you saw miraculous signs, but because you ate the loaves and had
your fill. Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that
endures to eternal life, which the son of Man will give you. On
him God, the Father has placed his seal of approval. Then they asked
him what must we do to do the works God requires? Jesus answered,
the work of God is this to believe in the one he has sent.
So they asked him what miraculous sign then will you give that we may see
it and believe you. What will you do? Our forefathers ate the man
in the desert. As it is written, he gave them bread from heaven
to eat. Jesus said to them, I tell you the truth. It
is not Moses who has given you the bread from heaven, but it is
my Father who gives you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of
God is he who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.
Sir, they said, from now one give us this bread that Jesus declared,
I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never
go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty. But
as I told you, you have seen me, and still you do not
believe. All that the Father gives me will come to me. And whoever
comes to me, I will never drive away. For I have come down
from heaven not to do my will, but to do the will of him
who sent me. And this is the will of him who sent me,
that I shall lose none of all that he has given me, but raise
them up at the last day, at the last day. From my father's
will is that everyone who looks to the sun and believes in him shall have
eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. At
this the Jews began to grumble about him, because he said, I am
the bread that came down from heaven. They said, is this not Jesus,
the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we knew, we know?
How can he now say I came down from heaven. Stop grumbling among
yourselves. Jesus answered, no one can come to me unless the father who
sent me draws him, and I will raise him up at the last day.
It is written in the prophets they will all be taught by God.
Everyone who listens to the Father and learns from him comes to me. No
one has seen the Father except us, except the one who is from God.
Only he has seen the Father. I tell you the truth. He
who believes has everlasting life. I am the bread of life. Your forefathers
ate the manna in the desert. Yet they died. But here is the
bread that comes down from heaven, which a man may eat and not die.
I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats
to this bread, he will live forever. This bread is my flesh,
which I will give for the life of the world. Then the Jews begin
to argue sharply among themselves. How can this man give us flesh to eat.
Jesus said to them, I tell you the truth. Unless you eat
the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no
life in you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life.
And I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh
is real food, and my blood is real drink. Whoever eats my flesh
and drinks my blood remains in me and eyeing him, just as the Living
Father has sent me, just as the Living Father sent me. And I
live because of the Father. So the one who feeds on me will live
because of me. This is the bread that came down from heaven. Your
forefathers ate manner and died. But he who feeds on this bread will live
forever. He said this while teaching in the synagogue in Capernaum, Caprinum,
Capernaum. Any disciples desert Jesus, desert Jesus, desert Jesus. On hearing
it, many of his disciples said, this is a hard teaching. Who
can accept it. Aware that his disciples were grumbling about this, Jesus said
to them, does this offend you? What if you see the Son of
Man ascend to where he was before. The spirit gives life. The flesh
counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you are spirit, and
they are life. Yet there are some of you who do not believe.
For Jesus had known from the beginning which of them did not believe, and
who would betray him. He went on to say, this is why I
told you that no one could come to me unless the Father has enabled him.
From this time many of his disciples turned back and no longer followed him.
You do not want to leave too, do you? Jesus asked the
twelve. Simon Peter answered, Lord, to whom shall we go? You
have the words of return of life. We believe and know that you are
the Holy One of God. Then, Jesus reply, have I not chosen
you the twelve? Yet one of you is a devil? He meant Judas,
the son of Simon Iscariot, who, though one of the twelve,
was later to betray him. All right, y'all, So that is the
Book of John chapter six reading. All right, So as we review the
Book of John chapter six reading, it goes into detail about Jesus feeing the
five thousand, how he broke the bread and the fish, blessed it and
gave all of them, and had leftover baskets of it as well. Also,
when we go further, it goes into detail about Jesus walking on water,
and how they traveled across on their boats and what have you, and
going to different regions different places. It also describes Jesus being the bread of
life. And that's very amazing how he describes himself in that manner. That's
very awesome because what he says is he is the living Bread, and that
if you eat him, you shall not die. And he brought them to
saying, Moses gave y'all manner, and y'all died, you know, So
Jesus just putting a stamp on it, putting a signature on it, like,
Hey, I'm the living Bread, you know what I mean. That's
very powerful words right there. And then also in the Book of John chapter
six reading it goes much to detail about his disciples asking him more questions and
things of that nature, and Jesus just saying that you guys are hearing and
seeing these things, but you guys yet don't believe. And he also just
says, out of the disciples, he says, one of you is the
devil. You know. He's talking about Judas obviously, So hey, you
know that's some serious stuff right there, you know what I mean. And
you know, Simon Peter just says, well, Lord, to whom shall
we go, you have the words to return to life. We believe and
know that you are the Holy One of God. You know, So Simon
Peter just wanted to put his input on that regarding to belief or have you?
Okay? And the Jews kept arguing among themselves about the things that Jesus
was saying. So Jesus always had the people trigg with the truth in the
gospel. Okay. So before I go into the Book of John chapter seven
reading, I would like to read the commentary that is within the Book of
John chapter six. All right, the Book of John chapter six commentary.
Here we go today's Bible reading John chapter six, verses twenty five through seventy
one. Recommended reading the Book of Jeremiah chapter twenty three, verses nine through
forty. The Book of First Corinthians chapter one, verses eighteen through twenty five.
The book is Second Timothy chapter four, verses one through eight. The
title of this commentary is on the campaign trail. Jesus never ran for public
office. Good thing is, as he often violated the hidden rules for smooth
talking, get along with everyone slick politicians. In fact, some of the
statements Jesus made would cause a campaign manager to pull out his hair and frustration.
Just imagine Jesus speaking on the campaign trail. You have seen me and
you still do not believe verse thirty six. This is why I told you
that no one can come to me unless the Father has enabled him verse sixty
five. I tell you the truth. Only you eat the flesh of the
Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you verse
fifty three. None of these statements seem politically correct, do they? Certainly
none could serve as a catchy campaign slogan. So why did Jesus say these
things? Didn't he want people to follow him? Why would he deliberately say
things to offend people and turn them away. The supple conclusion seems to be
that Jesus cared far more about the quality of his disciples than about their quantity.
If he cared only about increasing the size of the crowds of following him,
he could easily have fed them more bread or perform more miracles, or
he could have toned down some of his hard teaching verse sixty. But Jesus
already knew who didn't believe verse sixty four. He knew that some of the
people following him wanted only free food verse twenty six or a flashy sign from
God verse thirty Jesus didn't want preoccupied followers. He wanted disciples who would proclaim
Lord to whom shall we go? You have the words of Eternal Life verse
sixty eight. The same holds true today. Jesus wants us to follow him,
but he still desires quality disciples. That level of commitment might mean living,
saying, and doing things that ruffles some feathers, As evangelists Billy Graham
notes, it is unnatural for Christianity to be popular. Things to take away
from this commentary, do you think of yourself as a quality follower of Jesus?
Why or why not? What hard teachings cause you to struggle with following
Jesus? What steps can you take to become a more devoted follower of Jesus?
In other words, quote unquote, Christianity, with his doctor of humility,
of forgiveness, of love, is incompatible with the state, with its
haughtiness, it's violence, its punishments, its wars quote Leo tile Story.
Very interesting commentary, right there. Okay, so that's a very beautiful read
regarding the Book of John chapter six. All right, quality disciples, quality
followers. Okay, along this journey will we will offend people rough with some
feathers and things of that nature. Jesus with kind of confrontation his whole life,
so we would deal with it as well, or affirming our beliefs in
our word and who he is, and doing the will. Amen. So
these things that she's experienced with people and confrontations or what have you. We're
going to continually deal with this as well for the rest of our lives,
are right. So doing Father's business and Father's will. There's a lot that
comes along with it, all right. We have to be strong and mature
about this journey in this walk, gamen and bolder, courageous. All right.
So that's the Book of John chapter six. Reading. Now let us
go into the Book of John chapter seven. All right, the Book of
John chapter seven. Here we go, all right. John chapter seven,
Jesus goes to the Feast of Tabernacles. After this, Jesus went around and
glily, purposely staying away from Judea because the Jews there were waiting to take
his life. But when the Feast of Tabernacles was near, jesus brother said
to him, you ought to leave here and go to Judea so that your
disciples may see the miracles you do. No one who wants to become a
public figure, acts in secret. Since you're doing these things, show yourself
to the world. For even his own brothers did not believe in him.
Therefore, Jesus told them, the right time for me has not yet come.
For you, any time is right. The world cannot hate you,
but it hates me because I testify that what it does is evil. You
go to the feast. I am not yet going up to this feast because
for me, the right time has not yet come. Having said this,
he stayed in glilely. However, after his brothers had left for the feast,
he went also, not publicly, but in secret. Not at the
feast. The Jews were watching for him and asking where is that man.
Among the crowds. There was widespread whispering about him. Some said he is
a good man. Others reply, no, he deceives the people. But
no one would say anything publicly about him, for the fear of the Jews.
Jesus teaches at the feast. Not until halfway through the feast did Jesus
go up to the temple courts and begin to teach. The Jews were amazed
and asked how did this man get such learning without having studied Jesus answered,
my teaching is not my own. It comes from Him who sent me.
If anyone chooses to do God's will, he will find out whether my teaching
comes from God or whether I speak on my own. He who speaks on
his own does thus so to gain honor for himself. But he who works
for the honor of the one who sent him is a man of truth.
There is nothing false about him. Has not Moses given you, giving you
the law? Yet not one of you keeps the law. Why are you
trying to kill me? You are demon possessed. The crowd answered, who's
trying to kill you? Jesus said to them, I did one miracle in
you all, and you are all astonished. Yet, because Most gave you
circumcision, circumcision, though actually it did not come from Moses, but from
the patriarchs, you circumcise a child on the sabbath. Now, if a
child can become circumcised on the sabbath, so that the law of Most may
not be broken, why are you angry with me for healing the whole man
on the sabbath. Stop judging by mere appearances and make a right judgment,
as Jesus the Christ at that point, some of the people of Jerusalem began
to ask, isn't this the man they are trying to kill? Here?
He is speaking publicly, and they are not saying a word to him.
Have the authorities really concluded that he is the Christ? But we know where
this man is from. When the Christ comes, no one will know where
he is from. Then Jesus, still teaching in the temper, of course,
cried out, yes, you know me, and you know where I
am from. I am not here on my own, but he who sent
me is true. You do not know him, but I know him because
I am from him and he sent me. At this they tried to seize
him, but no one laid a hand on him, because his time had
not yet come. Still, many in the crowd put their faith in him.
They said, when the Christ comes, will he do more miraculous signs
than this man. The Pharisees heard the crowd whispering such things about him.
Then the chief priest and the Pharisees sent people they sent timp regards to arrest
him. Jesus said, I am with you for only a short time,
and then I go to the one who sent me. You will look from
me, But you will not find me, and where I am you cannot
come. The jew said to one another, where does this man intend to
go that we cannot find him? Will he go where our people live scattered
among the Greeks and teach the Greeks? What did he mean when he said,
you will look for me, but you will not find me, and
where I am cannot come. On the last and greatest day of the feast,
Jesus stood and said, in a loud voice, in a loud voice,
if anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. Whoever
believes in me, As the scripture has said, streams of living waters will
flow from within him. By this, he meant the spirit whom those who
believed in him were related to receive. Up to that time, the spirit
had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified. On hearing
his words, some of the people said, surely this man is the prophet.
Others said he is the Christ. Still others asked, how can the
Christ come from Galilee? Does not the scriptures say that the Christ will come
from David's family and from Bethlehem, the town where David lived. Does The
people were divided because of Jesus. Some wanted to seize him, but no
one laid in hand on him, unbelief of the Jewish leaders. The jew
leaders. Finally, the temple guards went back to the chief priest and pies,
who asked them, why didn't you bring him in? No one ever
spoke the way this man does. The guards declared, you mean he has
deceived you. Also, the Pharisees restored, Has any of the rulers or
of the Pharisees believed in him? No? But this mob that knows nothing
of the law, there is a curse on them. Nicodemons who had gone
to Jesus earlier, and who was one of their own number, asked,
does our law condemn anyone without first hearing him to find out what he is
doing? They replied, are you from Galilei too? Look into it and
you will find out a prophet does not come out of Galily Galilei the earliest
manuscripts and many other ancient witnesses do not have John chap At seven, verse
fifty three through eight, verse eleven. All right, So there you have
it. That is the Book of John chapter seven. Reading right, And
as we review the Book of John chapter seven, reading, it goes further
into Jesus going into the feast of tabern Knuckles and how he went secretly and
kind of went discreetly. He didn't want to be out there too much in
public or what have you. He's being circumspect about it. Excuse me.
The also Jesus teaches at the feast as well, and he's just discussing how
his teaching is not his own, but it comes from the Father who sent
him, And he said, if anyone choose to do God's will, he
will find out whether my teaching comes from God or whether I speak on my
own. And he says that whoever speaks on his own does so to gain
honor for himself, But he who works for the honor of the one who
sent him as a man of truth, there's nothing false about him, now,
I saying. He goes more further into detail about describing Moses as well,
and he says that has not Moses given you the law? Yet not
one of you keeps the law? He says, why are you trying to
kill me? And he goes further to detail about how Moses gave them circumcision,
which actually didn't come from Mose but from the hatriarchs, and they used
to circumcise a child on a Sabbath day, and that he said, now
if a child he can be circumcised on the Sabbath, so that the law
most may not be broken. Why are you angry with me for healing the
whole man on the Sabbath? Stop judging by mere appearances and make a right
judgment. Jesus just saying to have a better view, have a more two
way straight approach about their judgment, and not having one side of the judgment
bias judgment, because that's where that's what they were doing, you know.
And Jesus always correcting them and giving them edification about that. You know,
people hate correction, people hate edification. You know, people always gonna be
right all the time instead of really digging for the truth and what's actually right.
And let's see what we have here, and Jesus goes more to detail
about let's see, goes more to detail just about he's gonna go back to
heaven and he's going to a place that neither of them can go and to
be with his father, and they all can't really under standard or what have
you. So that doubt and the skepticism that they had was a very hard
on them. You know, they do not really want to accept Christ for
who he was and who sent him. Hey man, or as words are
right? So what I would love to do before I go into the Book
of John chapter eight, I would like to read the incommentary scripture all right,
that is titled God offers Spiritual Fulfillment the Book of John chapter seven,
verse thirty seven. On the last and greatest day of the feast, Jesus
stood and said in a loud voice, if anyone is thirsty, let them
come and drink to me. Let them come to me and drink all right.
And also to add in the Book of John chapter seven, as Jesus
kept doing the things he was doing, people kept trying to plot against them,
how to hurt them or what have you. But it's time didn't have
come at that time yet. So that's what doing the will of God will
cost you. It will put you in a lot of near death experiences,
a lot of hostile, violent environments. Okay, So that's what comes with
doing the will of God and spreading the truth in the gospel. Okay,
to us a Book of John chapter seven reading. Now, let us go
into the Book of John chapter eight. Oh yeah, and also John chapter
seven fifty three says, then each went to his home and went from there.
Okay, so now let us go into the Book of John chapter eight.
But Jesus went to the mouth of Olives. At dawn, he appeared
again in the temple courts, where all the people gathered around him, and
he sat down to teach them. The teachers of the law and the Pharisees
brought in a woman caught an adultery. They made her stand before the group
and said to Jesus, teacher, this woman was caught in the act of
adultery, and the law of Moses, and the Law of Moses commanded us
to stone such women. Now what do you say. They were using this
question as a trap in order to have a basis for accusing him. But
Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger. When
they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, if
any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw
a stone at her. Again, he stooped down the road on the ground.
At this those who heard began to go away, one at a time,
the older ones first, until only Jesus was left with the woman standing
there. Jesus straightened up and asked her, woman, where are they?
Has no one condemned you? No one, sir, she said, Then
neither do I condemn you. Jesus declared, go now and leave your life
of sin. The validity of jesus testimony. When Jesus spoke again to the
people, he said, I am the lie of the world. Whoever follows
me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.
The pharisees challenged him, here you are appearing as your own witness. Your
testimony is not valid. Jesus answered, even if I testify all my own
behalf, my testimony is valid, for I know where I come from,
it where I am going. But you have no idea where I come from
where I'm going. You have judged by human standards. I pass judgment on
no one. But if I do judge, my decisions are right because I
am not alone. I stand with the Father who sent me. In your
own law, it is written that the testimony of two men is valid.
I'm the one who testifies for myself. My other witness is the father who
sent me. Then they asked him where is your father? You do not
know me or my father. Jesus replied, if you knew me, you
would know my father. Also. He spoke these words while teaching in the
temple area near the place where the offerings were put. Yet no one seized
him because his time had not yet come. Once more, Jesus said to
them, I am going away, and you will look for me, and
you will die in your sin. Where I go, you cannot come.
This made the Jews ask will he kill himself? As that why he says,
where I go, you cannot come. But he continued, you are
from below. I am from above. You are of this world. I
am not of this world. Told you that you would die in your sins.
If you do not believe that I am the one I claim to be,
you will indeed die in your sins. Who are you? They asked,
just why I've been claiming all along? Jesus replied, I have much
to say in judgment of you. But he who sent me is reliable,
and what I have heard from him, I'll tell the world. I tell
the world. They did not understand that he was telling them about his father.
So Jesus said, when you have lifted up the son of Man.
Then you will know that I am the one I claim to be, and
that I do nothing on my own. But I speak, but speak just
what the Father has taught me. The one who sent me is with me.
He has not left me alone, for I always do what pleases him.
Even as he spoke, many put their faith in him, the children
of Abraham. To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, if
you told, if you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples,
then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.
They are to him. We are Abraham's descendants and have never been slaves
of anyone. How can you say that we shall be set free? Jesus
replied, I'll tell you the truth. Everyone who sins is a slave descend.
Now, a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a
son belongs to it forever. So if the Son sets you free, you
will be freed. Indeed, I know you were Abraham's descendants, yet you
are ready to kill me because you have no room for my word. I
am telling you I have seen end the Father's presence, and you do not.
And you do what you have heard from your father Abraham is our father,
they've answered. If you were Abraham's children, said Jesus, then you
would do the things Abraham did. As it is, you are determined to
kill me, a man who has told you the truth that I heard from
God. Abraham did not do such things. You are doing the things your
own father does. We are not illegitimate children, they protested. The only
father we have is God himself, the children of the devil. Jesus said
to them, if God were your father, you would love me. For
I came from God and now am here. I have not come on my
own, but He sent me. Why is my language not clear to you?
Because you are unable to hear what I say. You belong to your
father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desire.
M He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth,
for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his
native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. Yet,
because I tell the truth, you do not believe me. Can any
of you prove me guilty of sin? If I am telling the truth,
why don't you believe me? He who belongs to God? Here's what God
says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to
God. M the claims of Jesus about himself, the Jews answered him,
aren't we right? And saying that you are a Samaritan and demon possessed.
I am not possessed by a demon, said Jesus. But I honor my
father, and you dishonor me. I am not seeking glory for myself,
but there is one who seeks it, and he is the judge. I
tell you the truth. If anyone keeps my word, he would never see
death. At this, the Jews exclaimed, now we know that you are
demon possessed. Abraham died and so did the prophets. Yet you say that
if anyone keeps your word, he would never taste death. Are you greater
than our father Abraham? He died and so did the prophets. Who do
you think you are? Jesus replied, If I glorify myself, my glory
means nothing. My father, whom you claim as your God, is the
one who glorifies me. Though you do not know him, I know him.
If I said I did not, I would be a liar like you.
But I do know him. And keep his word. Your father Abraham
rejoiced at the thought of seeing my day. He saw it and was glad
you were not yet fifty years old, the Jews said to him, And
you have seen Abraham, I'll tell you the truth. Jesus answered, before
Abraham was born, I am at this. They picked up stones to stone
him, but Jesus hid himself, slipping away from the temple grounds. All
right, So that's the Book of John, chapter eight reading. So this
gets really interested. Look, that's a little bit humorous the way they reacted,
how triggered they were. I kind of find that funny, you know,
But that's the Book of John chapter eight reading. Right, So as
you review, as we review the Book of John, chapter eight reading,
it starts off with Jesus not condemned the woman who did adultery, and you
know the you know, he says, whoever is without sin, you know,
he says, if any one of you is without sin, let him
be the first to throw a stone at her. And then they all walked
away and left her alone. You know. So remember in the Law of
Moses, remember the Last Commandments, it was a commandment that if a woman
come as adultery was to be stoned to death, and with other cultures,
like other parts of the Middle East in the world, in the modern world
today are certain cultures and different people still practice that, like women in the
Middle East and in those countries in that region, they get stoned to death
for cheating on their husbands and all the different stuff. So that's how harsh
it was. But Jesus had grace and mercy on this woman, and they
all left her alone, and Jesus said to her, than neither do I
condemn you. Jesus declared, go now and leave your life of sin.
So that's same mercy Jesus had for the woman who commit adultery. That's the
same type of mercy he has for us. So we have to leave sin
behind, people, We have to leave it behind. Okay, we have
to leave it behind, all right. We have to stop being so sinful
in the flesh and being so filthy with our choices and pleasures and things of
that nature, because it just leads to much more trouble, the wages of
sin, our death, you know, but it just always complicates things.
You get what I'm say. And Jesus wants to be free, delivered,
mary hearted, joyful, glad, you know, just in the truth and
his love and his presence. You know, sin, it gets in the
way of a lot of things. Okay, So let us leave our life
of sin behind people or others better ourselves. Every day as we go through
the Book of John chapter eight, it goes more further into detail about how
valid jesus testimony is a regard with him and the Father, and it thinks
he witnessed and his connection to the Father, and he's just going back and
forth with them because they kept questioning him down with him skepticism. They kept
just like you know, opposing their views on him or what have you.
They just didn't want to accept the truth, you know what I mean.
Jess just kept hitting him with the truth or what have you. And he's
just constantly claiming how the Father sent him, how the Father sent him.
You know, it's not about it's not even all about himself. It's all
about the Father. That's what Jess always based everything around, you know,
excuse me. And that's the type of lifestyle we have to live. We
have to base everything around the Father the rest of our lives. Him saying
everything got to be based around the Father, Son, the Holy spirit,
all right, got to center everything around the Father. Man, we have
to, okay. And as we go further into the book of John chapter
eight even goes into what Jesus calls them children of the Devil. Okay,
even called them devils. He said, you belong to your father, the
devil, and you wanted to carry out your father's desire. He was a
murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth. For there's no truth
in him. When he lies, he speaks from he speaks his native language,
for he is a liar and the father of lies. So always remember
that the devil, he's the father of lies, people, the father of
lies, deception, trickery. All right, it's no truth in him.
He's a murderer from the beginning, all right. He comes and kills the
understroy Always remember that the spiritual warfare is intents people at Satan is sending out
his agents and the fallen, and all these different principalities of the air and
weakness a high places. So when you're really go into Ephesians chapter six,
Man, you gotta keep on the armor of God. People, you gotta
keep on the armor of God. You have to, okay, you have
to you have to, okay, And then when it comes to the Book
of John chapter eight, reading, as we go further, you know,
Jesus is just going more into detail about Abraham and the Father and things of
that nature and glory as well, all right. And the Jews they just
kept accusing him of saying he's a Samaritan, he's demon possessed. They just
really went with the ridicule and the mockery and the name calling. So that's
what that's what immature people do, That's what narcissist, immature, insecure people
do. They get the name calling and calling you out and disrespect you and
all that. But Jesus handled that with love and grace, you know what
I mean. And we remember we're following Christ. We have to go through
persecution, mockery, name calling, the belittling, all that. We have
to go through all that as well, all right, because if the prophets
and Christ went through it, we're gonna go through it too, especially these
last days that we are in. How wicked this generation is, how evil
people are, how messed up people are today with their words and how they
talk. The communication. Communication today is just at an all time low.
So when you firm in your beliefs. You're doing the will of God.
When you're really walking in the spirit, walking in that power of God,
and you really doing it. Being a dude of the word, you're gonna
hear all types of names. Man, you're gonna hear it all all right.
You gotta be strong minded, gotta be have thick skin. You know
what I'm saying, and and be doing. You gotta handle with loving grace,
just as Jesus did, or the example Christ set for us. We
have to follow that example. Amen. Amen. So that's the Book of
John chapter eight reading. All right. Now, let us go into the
Book of John chapter nine. All right, the Book of John chapter nine.
Here we go. Jesus heals a man born blind John chapter nine.
As he went along, he saw a man blind from birth. His disciples
asked him, Rabbi, who sinned this man or his parents that he was
born blind. Neither this man nor his parents sinned, said Jesus. But
this happened so that the work of God might be displayed in his life.
As long as it is this day, as long as it is day,
we must do the work of Him who sent me. Night is coming when
no one can work while I am in the world, I am the light
of the world. Having said this, he spit on the ground and made
mud with his saliva and put it on the man's eyes. Go, he
told him, washing the pool of Siloam. This word means sent. So
the man went and washed, and came home. Seeing his neighbors and those
who had formerly seen him, beg and asked, isn't this the same man
who used to sit and beg? Some claimed that he was, other said
no, he only looks like him. But he himself insisted, I am
the man. How then were your eyes opened? They demanded, He replied,
the man they called Jesus made some mud and put it on my eyes.
He told me to go to saloon and wash. So I went and
washed, and then I could see. Where is this man? They asked
him. I don't know, he said. The Pharisees investigate the healing.
They brought to the Pharisees the man who had been blind. Now, the
day on which Jesus had made the mud and opened the man's eyes was a
sabbath. Therefore the Pharisees also asked him how he had received his sight.
He put mud on my eyes. The man replied, and I washed,
and now I see. Some of the Pharisees said this man is not from
God, for he does not keep the Sabbath. But others asked, how
can a sinner do such miracles miraculous signs? Excuse me? So they were
divided. Finally they turned again to the blind man. What have you?
What have you to say about him? It was your eyes he opened.
The man replied, he is a prophet. The Jews still did not believe
that he had been blind and had received his sight, until they sent for
the man's parents. Is this your son, they asked, Is this the
one who? This is the one, you say, who was born blind?
How is it that now he can see? We know he is our
son, the parents answered, and we knew, and we know he was
born blind. But how can he see now? Or who opened his eyes?
We don't know. Ask him he is of age, He will speak
for himself. His parents said this because they were afraid of the Jews,
for already the Jews had decide that anyone who acknowledged that Jesus was the Christ
will be put out of the synagogue. That was why his parents said he
is of age. Asked him a second time, they summoned the man who
had been blind. Give glory to God. They said, we know this
man is a sinner. He replied, whether he is a sinner or not,
I don't know thing. I do know. I was blind, but
now I see. Then they asked him, what did he do to you?
How did he open your eyes? He answered, I have told you
already and you did not listen. Why do you want to hear it again?
Do you want to become his disciples too? Then they held insults at
him and said, you are this fellow's disciple. We are disciples of Moses.
We know that God spoke to Moses. But as for this fellow,
we don't even know where he comes from. The man answered, now that
is remarkable. You do not know where he comes from. Yet he opened
my eyes. We know that God does not listen to sinners. He listened
to the godly man who does his will. Nobody has ever heard of opening
the eyes of a man born blind. If this man were not from God,
he could do nothing to this. They replied, you were steeped in
sign at birth. How dare you lecture us? And they threw him out
Spiritual blindness Jesus heard that they had thrown him out, and when he found
him, he said, do you believe in the son of Man? Who
is he? Sir? The man asked, tell me so that I may
believe in him. Jesus said, you have now seen him. In fact,
he is the one speaking with you. Then the man said, Lord,
I believe, and he worshiped him. Jesus said, for judgment,
I have come into this world so that the blind will see, and those
who see will become blind. Some Pharisees who were with him heard him say
this and asked, what are we blind to. Jesus said, if you
were blind, you would not be guilty to sin. But now that you
claim you can see, your guilt remains that right there. That's the Book
of John chapter nine reading right there, just a very powerful reading right there.
You know, Jesus healed a man born blind, you know, as
if you chapter nine of John. You know the disciples, you know they
asked him, like rabbi who sinned this man or his parents that he was
born blind. The thing about people who are born the reason why they asked
that is because sometimes when people are born with certain health conditions or certain problems,
right or disabilities, what have you. A lot of times that can't
come from the parents, that can't be passed down, like generational curses disabilities,
certain things with your health and your body condition can be passed down genetically.
So that's why the disciples asked that. But Jesus was just saying,
like, hey, you know, neither this man nor his parents send so
it wasn't even a generational thing. Or at that moment, Jesus said,
but this happens so that the work of God might be displayed in his life.
As long as it is day, we must do the work of him
who sent me. It's coming when no one can work. While I am
in the world, I am the light of the world. And then he
you know, he spits on the ground, makes mud, puts it on
his eyes, and then you know, he told him to go wash by
the sea and washed by the Saloum, which means sent the pool of Saloni.
And he went home and was able to see. So as you can
see, some people are born with disabis or have you, so that the
glory of God can be shown through that. All right, So there's many
people out here who need that healing, that life changing encounter with God,
that life changing encounter with Jesus. They need the power of God, they
need that deliverance, They need that moment in their lives, you know what
I'm saying. You know, because that there's there's there's the physical blindness,
and there's also spiritual blindness. All right, many people on earth are very
spiritual blinded, very spiritually blind, you know. So but that physical blindness,
Jesus had no problem healing it with no problem, like it was nothing,
you know. And as we go more detail into the Book of John
chapter nine, the Pharisees even investigated this whole thing. So they made they
made a whole scene of fuss about it in the temple and the sen of
God. They made a whole fuss about this, and they brought him in
and investigate his parents and ask him a million questions, and you know,
and then they ended up throwing them out at the temple. So that just
shows you how control of the Pharisees were they would control of They were narcissists.
They man that I'm telling you, man, that people got that Pharisee
spirit to this day, to this day, they you know what I mean.
And the man just kept kept giving glory to God and what have you.
And they threw him out for that. They hated Jesus so much.
They didn't want to accept the power of God. They didn't want to accept
who he was, or what he said or what he did for others.
So they tried so much to counter it and knock it. You know,
the Book of Proverbs, it says, no wisdom of council is against the
Lord. Amen. So you know, and what I love to do.
Within the Book of John chapter nine, has read the incommentary scripture all right,
titled God is the Good Shepherd the Book of John chapter ten, verse
eleven. Actually it says I am the good Shepherd, the good shepherds lays
down his life for the sheep. I don't know, we didn't get the
Book of John Schapportania bus right there. So I just wanted to read that.
And then with the Book of John chapter nine, you know, they
were talking to Pharis He talking about how they were disciples of Moses, you
know, so that's just how they were just narcissists. Man, they were
just narcissists. Okay, now let's see what we have here. And in
the blind Man, he just kept saying like hey, you know, he
said that we know that God does not listening to sinners. He listened to
the godly man who does his will. And he said, nobody has ever
heard of opening the eyes of a man born blind. If this man were
not from God, he could do nothing. You know. To this reply,
they steeped it. And then they said, you were steeped in the
sin at birth. Out, dare you lecture us? And they throw them
out. So they got really mad at the man for glorifying God and his
son for that miracle and that thing happened in his life. So when you
really have a powerful encounter or tested simony people, there'll be some evil people
that hate it and don't want to accept that. They don't want to accept
how God changed your life return through your life around. They don't want to
accept how the power of God was working through you in your situation. You
know. So the Pharisees they were a real trip, okay, and Jesus
just you know, really puts them Pharisees in them in their places as well,
with that spiritual blindness that they kept having, all right, And Jesus
said, if you were blind, you would not be guilty of sin.
But now that you claim you can see, your guilt remains. So Jesus
put him in this place. Put them in their place, ain't man?
Yes, yes, y'all. So that is the book of John chapter nine.
Reading. What I also love about is when Jesus heard about how they
thrown them out, he found him. He said, do you believe in
this other man? And then he said who is he served? The man
asked, temmy, who tell me saw that I may believe in him?
Jesus said, you have now seen him. In fact, he is the
one speaking with you. Man said, Lord, I believe. And he
worshiped him, and Jesus said, for judgment, I have come into this
world so that the blind will see, and those who will see those who
see will become blind. You know. So some very powerful stuff right there,
you know. So that is the book of John chapter nine. All
right, Now let us go into the book of John chapter ten. All
right, the Book of John chapter ten. Here we go. The shepherd
and his flock. I tell you the truth. The man who does not
enter the sheep penned by the gate, but climbs in by some other way
is a thief and a robber. The man who enters by the gate is
the shepherd of the sheep. The watchman opens the gate for him, and
the sheep listened to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and
leads them out. When he has brought out all his own, he goes
on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice.
But they will never follow stranger. In fact, they will run away
from him because they do not recognize the stranger's voice. Jesus used this figure
of speech, but they did not understand what he was telling them. Therefore,
Jesus said again, I tell you the truth. I am the gate
for the sheep. All who ever come before me were thieves and robbers,
but the sheep did not listen to them. I am the gate. Whoever
enters through me will be saved. He would come in and go out and
find pasture. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I
have come that they may have life, and have it to the fool.
I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the
sheep. The hired hand is not the shepherd who owns the sheep, So
when he sees the wolf coming, he had bandons the sheep and runs away.
Then the wolf attacks the flock and scatters it. The man runs away
because he is a hired hand and cares nothing for the sheep. I am
the good shepherd. I know my sheep, and my sheep know me,
just as the father knows me, and I know the Father. And I
laid down my life for the sheep. I have other sheep that are not
of this sheep, and I must bring them also. They too will listen
to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd. The
reason my father loves me is that I laid down my life, only to
take it up again. No one takes it from me, but I lay
it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down,
an authority to take it up again. This command I received from my father.
At these words, the Jews were again divided. Many of them said,
he is demon possessed and raving mad. Why I listen to him?
But others said, there are these are not the sayings of a man possessed
by a demon? Can a demon open the eyes of the blind? The
unbelief of the Jews then came the feast of Dedication at Jerusalem. It was
winter at Jesus was in the temple area, walking in Solomon's colonnade. The
Jews gathered around him, saying, and how long will you keep us in
suspense? If you are the Christ? Tell us plainly, Jesus answered,
I did tell you, but you do not believe the miracles I do,
and my father's name speak for me. But you do not believe because you
are not my sheep. My sheep listened to my voice. I know them,
and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall
never perish. No one can snatch them out of my hand. My Father,
who has given them to me, is greater than all. No one
can snatch them out of my father's hand. I and the Father are one
again. The Jews picked up stones to stone him, but Jesus said to
them, I have shown you many great miracles from the Father. For which
of these do you stone me. We are not stoning you for any of
these, replied the Jews. But for blasphemy, because you, a mere
man, claim to be God. Jesus answered them, is it not written
in your law? I have said you are gods? If he called them
gods to whom the word of God came and the scripture cannot be broken.
What about the one whom the Father set apart as his very own and sent
it into the world. Why then, do you accuse me of blasphemy because
I said, I am God's son. Do not believe me unless I do
what my father does. But if I do it, even though you do
not believe me, believe the miracles that you may know and understand that the
Father is in me and I and the Father. Again, they tried to
seize him, but he escaped their grasp. Then Jesus went back across the
Jordan to the place where John had been baptizing in the early days. Here
he stayed, and many people came to him. They said, though John
never performed a miraculous sign, all that John said about this man was true,
and in that place many believed in Jesus. All right. So that
is the Book of John chapter ten reading, Yes, yes, a very
excellent read. As we review the Book of John chapter ten, it goes
more further into Jesus describing the shepherd and his flock, all right. And
he's also describing how he says, how my sheep know me, and I
know my sheep. And he's basically saying like he is the gate and you
know, and he's truly the gay and whoever enters through me will be saved,
all right. He's also saying that if a person you know who comes
in another way is a thief and a robber, you know what I'm saying.
So I got to have some honest and straightforwardness. So when you're entering
this relationship with Jesus saying, man, people who try to cut corners or
shortcut it, they're thieves and robberts, okay. And also, as we
review the book of John shot to pretend reading, it goes further into detailing
how he is the good shepherd and how he lays down his life for a
sheep for the sheep. You know, he said, the hired hand is
not the shepherd who owns the sheep. So when he sees the wolf coming,
he abandons his sheep and runs away, and the wolf attacks the flocks
and scatters it. The man who the man runs away because he is a
hired hand, it cares nothing for the sheep. And as we go further
than a John chapter ten, verse fourteen through sixteen is very important, you
know it says, I am the good shepherd. I know my sheep,
and my sheep know me, just as the Father knows me. And I
know the Father, and I laid down my life for the sheep. I
have other sheep that are not other the sheep pen. I must bring them
also, They too will listen to my voice. And there shot be one
flock and one shepherd. So when you read John chapter ten, verse fourteen
through sixteen, he's of course describing Israel, and then he's also describing those
outside of Israel's gonna come in. So Jesus he's helping Israel, of course,
and others outside of it, because you get these camps, these dudes
on the corners always talking about just strictly Israel and strictly Israelites, and Jesus
came for those outside of Israel as well. He's including them as well.
Okay, So let us not have no prejudice spirits and the spirit of division
or you know, you know, the spirit of division, prejudice, spirits,
hate, racism, bias. Let us not have that in the Kingdom
of Heaven. Okay, let us there's no place for that, all right.
And then as we go further to the Book of John chapter ten,
reading it goes more further and to how much they had no belief in him,
And Jesus goes further into saying, how you know. He says,
my sheep listen to my voice. I know them, and they follow me.
And he says, I give them eternal life, and they shall never
perish. No one can snatch him out of my hand. My father,
who has given them to me, is greater than all. No one can
snatch him out of my father's hand. I and the Father are one.
That's beautiful right there, to be in Jesus hands. That's amazing to stay
in his hands. And a man, very very amazing, all right.
And they were gonna, the Jews were gonna stone him for saying those things,
and he had to get up out of dodge. You're speaking the truth
and correcting people atification, you prove them wrong and making them look dumb.
They're gonna get angry and violent, you get what I'm saying. So we
have to get up out of her, right. So I always remember that,
you know. And then with John chapter ten, furthermore, they kept
wanting to stone him and keep wanting to hurt them and do as different things,
and Jesus says, well, you know, yeah, Jesus answered,
I'm saying, is it not written in your law? I have said you
were gods? If he called them gods to whom the word of God came
and the scriptures cannot be broken? What about the one whom the Father said
apart as his very own and sent to the world. Why then, do
you accuse me of blasphemy because I said, I am God's son. Do
not believe me unless I do what my father does. But if I do
it, even though you do not believe me, we believe the miracles that
you may know and understand that the fathers in me and I am the Father.
All right, So they try to attack him for saying that he had
to get up out of dodge. Right. So that is the Book of
John chapter ten reading. What I would love to do before I get into
the Book of John chapter eleven, is I would like to read the commentary
that's within John ten. All right, so let us go to the commentary.
Today's Bible reading the Book of John chapter ten, verses one through eighteen.
Recommended reading song two, verses one through twelve. Excuse me, sorry.
The recommended reading Psalm two, verses one through twelve. The Book of
Isaiah, chapter forty two, verses one through twenty five. The Book of
Philippines Philippians, chapter two, verses one through eighteen. Okay, the title
of this commentary is turned to the Shepherd. Have you forgotten what wonders about?
Have you been sidetracked into seeking it? Seeking it in all the wrong
places? Have you even blamed God that you have lost it or can't find
it? Perhaps the apostle Paul said, I know whom I have believed,
and am convinced that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him
for that day. Book of Psycho Timothy, chapter one, verse twelve.
Emphasis added. When you entrust in him with your life, he generates to
wonder. Maybe you did not commit yourself and you're longing for wondering to his
keeping. Perhaps you lost your sense of wonder by trying to secure it in
places where it was actually stolen from you. This may be the moment to
pause and ask God for forgiveness for having gone after things that were not in
his plan. For you to ask for ask his forgiveness for a misplaced search
may be the first step in turning around in the right direction. When we
lived in Cambridge, England, there was a picture in the newspaper one day
that caught my attention. It was of a woman in her senior years.
She was kneeling beside a flower bed and facing the camera with one hand raised
high and a smile that was as the golden dawn of a wrinkled landscape.
You cannot help but read the article. The story was that this woman had
been widowed for over a decade and a half. Shortly after her husband died,
she lost her wedding ring. She searched her house high and low,
but never found it. On this particular day, particular day, as she
was gardening and dig up the soil to plant some flowers, she struck something.
She dug her hand into the dirt, thinking it was a small stone,
but saw something listening to her incredulous surprise, it was her wedding ring,
lost to her, lost to her for fifteen years. She grabbed it,
held it high, and led out such a scream of utter delight that
it brought out all her neighbors out of their homes to see what had happened.
A flood of memories bathed her soul. The ring brought back the feeling
of decades of happiness spent with the one to whom she had committed her life,
as she was filled with a joy that she could not contain. If
one ring a symbol can stir the heart to such bounds of delight, how
much more when we turned in reality to the Shepherd of our souls and recover
the wonder loss in our passionate pursuits and misdirected searches. Vee Za Zacharias Zacharias.
Things to take away from the commentary, What does it mean to seek
our wonder in God alone? What temptations in your life do you allow to
sidetrack you from seeking your joy and wonder in God? How can you begin
to turn back to Christ in order to recover you're wondering Him in the Gospel?
Very great read, very excellent commentary. Right there, you know,
turning to the Shepherd. You've been wondering and loss and been finding things in
the wrong place, to looking for the wrong stuff, and you know you
find the Lord. You find Christ just standing there welcoming you with open arms.
Amen, Jesus is just too awesome what we really reflect, you know,
it's too awesome. You know, you gotta find got to find the
Lord in your situations. People got to find him. Amen, you have
to. We always keep looking for the wrong things, the wrong places,
wrong people's but we have to always look to Christ. Amen. Always always
have to look to the Lord. Always have to look to the file though.
Okay, So that as a commentary in a Book of John chapter ten.
All right, Now, let us go into the Book of John chapter
eleven. All right, the Book of John chapter eleven. Here we go
the death of Lazarus. Now, a man named Lazarus was sick. He
was from Bethany, the village of Mary and her sisters, and her sister
Martha. This Mary, whose brother Lazarus now lay sick, was the same
one who poured perfume on the Lord and wiped his feet with her hair.
So the sisters sent word to Jesus, Lord, the one you love is
sick. When he heard this, When he heard this, Jesus said,
this sickness will not end in death. No, it is for God's glory,
so that God's son may be glorified through it. Jesus loved Martha and
her sister and Lazarus. Yet, when he heard that Lazarus was sick.
He stayed where he was two more days. Then he said to his disciples,
let us go back to Judea. But Rabbi, they said, a
short while ago the Jews tried to stone you, and yet you were going
back there. Jesus answered, are there not twelve hours of daylight? A
man who walked by day will not stumble, for he sees by this world's
life. It is when he walks by night that he stumbles, for he
has no light. After he had said this, he went on to tell
them our friend Lazar. Lazarus has fallen asleep, but I'm going there to
wake him up. His disciples replied, Lord, if he sleeps, he
will get better. Jesus had been speaking of his death, but his disciples
thought he meant natural sleep. So then he told them plainly, Lazarus is
dead, and for your sake, I am glad I was not there so
that you may believe. But let us go to him. Then Thomas called
Didimus. The Daimus, said to the rest of the disciples, let us
also go, that we may die with him. Jesus comforts the sisters.
Remember Thomas was a daughter. Remember that On his arrival, Jesus found that
Lazarus already had been dead, had been in the tomb for four days.
Bethany was less than two miles from Jerusalem, and many Jews had come to
Martha and Mary to comfort them in the loss of her brother. When Martha
heard that Jesus was coming, she went out to meet him, but Mary
stayed at home. Lord, Martha said to Jesus, if you had been
here, my brother would not have died. But I know that even now
God will give you whatever you ask. Jesus said to her, your brother
will rise again. Martha answered, I know he would rise again in the
resurrection. At the last day. Jesus said to her, I am the
Resurrection in the life. He who believes in me will live even though he
dies, and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you
believe this, yes, Lord, She told him, I believe that you
are the Christ, the Son of God who was to come into the world.
And after she said After she had said this, she went back and
called her sister Mary aside. The teacher is here, she said, and
is asking for you. When Mary heard this, she got up quickly and
went to him. Now, Jesus had not yet entered the village, but
was still at the place where Martha had met him. When the Jews who
had been with Mary in the house comforting her, notice how quickly she got
up and went out. They followed her. Supposed she was going to the
tomb to mourn there. When Mary reached the place where Jesus was and saw
him, she fell at his feet and said, Lord, if you had
been here, my brother would not have died. When Jesus saw her weeping,
and the Jews who had come along with her, also weeping, he
was deeply moved his spirit and troubled. Where have you laid him? He
asked, Come and see, Lord, they replied. Jesus wept. Then
the Jews said, see how he loved him. But some of them said,
could not he who opened the eyes of the blind man have kept this
man from dying. Jesus raises Lazareth from the dead. Jesus, once more
deeply moved, came to the tomb. It was a cave with a stone
laid across the entrance. Take away the stone, he said, But Lord,
said Martha, the sister of the dead man. By this time,
there is a bad odor, for he has been there four days. Then
Jesus said, did I not tell you that if you believed, you would
see the glory of God? So they took away the stone. Then Jesus
looked up and said, Father, I thank you that you have heard me.
I knew that you always hear me, But I said, this is
for the benefit of the people standing here, that they may believe what you
sent me, that they may believe that you sent me. When he had
said this, Jesus called in a loud voice, Lazarus come out. The
dead man came out, his hands and feet wrapped with strips of linen and
a cloth around his face. Jesus said to them, take off the grave
clothes and let them go the plot to kill Jesus. Therefore, many of
the Jews, who had come to visit Mary and has seen what Jesus did,
put their faith in him. But some of them went to the Pharisees
and told them what Jesus had done. Then the chief priests and the Pharisees
called a meeting of the seth Hedren. What are we accomplishing? They asked,
Here is this man performing many miraculous signs. If we let him go
on like this, everyone will believe in him, and then the Romans will
come and take away both our place and our nation. That one of them
named Seth Kafia, hold on, hold on. Then one of them named
Caiaphas, who was high priest that year, spoke up, You know nothing
at all. You do not realize that it is better for you that one
man died for the people than the whole nation parish. He did not say
this on his own, but as high priest that year, he prophesied that
Jesus would die for the Jewish nation, for the Jews, and not only
for that nation, but also for the scattered children of God, to bring
them together and make them one. So from that day on they plot to
take his life. Therefore, Jesus no longer moved about publicly among the Jews.
Instead, he withdrew to a region near the desert, to a village
called Ephraim, where he stayed with his disciples. When it was almost time
for the Passover, many went up from the country to Jerusalem for their ceremonial
cleansing. Before the passover, they kept looking for Jesus, and as they
stood in the temple area, they asked one another what do you think,
isn't he coming to the feast at all? But the chief priests and Pharisees
had given orders that if anyone found out where Jesus was, he should report
it so that they might arrest him. All right, y'all, So that
is the Book of John chapter eleven reading right there. So as we read
the Book of John chapter eleven reading, it goes further detail about the death
of Lazarus and Jesus healing him and bringing him back to life, and also
goes more further into Jesus, you know, dealing with the Romans and dealing
with more confrontation, dealing with the Jews and all those different things. And
that really sums up also with John eleven. Jesus also come from the sisters
as well, because Martha, Mary, and Lazarus they were all siblings and
Jesus had to comfort them in that trying time. And I love how it
says how Jesus wept, you know, it's a very powerful just two words,
but it's powerful. It just shows that how much compassion he had in
kindness and courtesy, and how much he felt for people's situations. Amen,
Jesus cares about our situation. He cares about what we're going through people,
Okay, always remember that, all right. So let's always keep our eyes
fixed on Jesus forever, amen, and always cry out to the Lord.
We have to always cry out to the Lord amen, always. All right.
So that's the Book of John chapter eleven reading, all right, So
