of Second Samuel chapter thirteen and so forth. That we're gonna close out with
prayer, giving God all the glory and the priestly blessing as well. Amen.
All right, y'all, So here we go, let book a second
Samuel, chapter thirteen. And it came to pass after this that Absalom,
the son of David, had a fair sister whose name was Tamar. And
Aman, the son of David, loved her. And Aman was so vexed
that he fell sick for his sister Tamorrow, for she was a virgin.
And Aman thought it hard for him to do anything to her. But Aman
had a friend whose name was Jonadab, the son of Shamiyah, David's brother.
And jona Dad was a very subtle man. And he has said to
him, why art thou, being the king's son, leaned from day to
day? Wilt thou not tell me? And Aman said unto him, I
love Tamarrow, my brother absalom sister. And Jonadab said unto him, lay
thee down on thy bed and make thyself sick. And when thy father come
to see thee, saying to him, I pray thee, let my sister
mark come and give me meat and drusted meat in my sight, that I
may see it and eat it at her hand. So Aman laid down and
made himself sick, and when the king was to When the king was come
to see him, Aman said, un to the King, I pray he
let tomorrow my sister come and make me a couple of cakes in my sight,
that I may eat at her hand. At her hand. Then David
sent home Tamar, saying, go now to thy brother Aman's house and dress
him meat. So Tamarrow went to her brother Alman's house, and he was
laid down as she took flour and needed it, and made of cakes in
his sight. And did bake the cakes. And she took a pan and
poured them out before him, but he refused to eat. And Aman said,
have out all men from me, and they went out every man from
him. And Aman said to Tamarrow, bring the meat into the chamber,
that I may eat of thy hand. And Tamar took the case which she
had made and brought them into the chamber to Aman, her brother. And
when she had brought them into him to eat, he took hold of her
and said to her, come lay with me, my sister. As she
answered, nay, my brother, do not force me, for no such
thing ought to be done in Israel. Do not thou this folly? And
I wither I shall I cause my shame to go? And as for THEE,
thou shalt be as one of the fools of Israe. Now therefore I
pray THEE speak it to the king, for he would not withhold me from
thee. How about, howbeit he would not harken it to her voice,
But being stronger than she, forced her and lay with her. That Aman
hated her exceedingly, so that hatred wherewith he hated her was greater than the
love wherewith he had her he had loved her. And a man said to
her, arrives be gone. As she said it to him, there is
no cause this evil, in sending me away, is greater than the other
that did us unto me. But he would not hearken unto her. Then
he called his servant that ministered to him, and said, putting out this
woman up for me, and bolt the door after her, as she had
a garment of divers colors upon her, for which such robes were the king's
daughters that were virgins. Appareled that his servant brought her out and bolted the
door after her, and Tomar put ashes on her head and rent her garment
of divers colors that was on her, and laid her hand on her head,
and went on crying. And abs On her brother said to her,
hath amand thy brother been with thee. But hold now thy peace, my
sister, he is thy brother, regard not this thing. So tomorrow remained
desolate in her brother's Absalom's house. But when the king went. But when
King David heard all these things, he was very wroth. And Absalom spoken
to us, brother Aman neither good nor bad. For Absalom hated Aman because
he had forced his sister tamarrow. And it came to pass after two full
years that Absalom had sheep shares and bail hus Hazer, which is beside Ephraim.
Absalom invited all the king's sons. And Absalom came to the king and
said, behold now, thy servant hath sheep shares. Let the king I
beseech THEE and his servants go with thy servant. And the king said to
Absalom, nay, my son, let us not, I'll go, lest
we be chargeable unto THEE. And he pressed him, howbeit he would not
go, but blessed him. Then Absalom then said Absalom, if not I
pray THEE, let my brother Aman go with us. And the king said
unto him, why should he go with thee? But Absalom pressed him that
he let Aman and all the king's sons go with him. Now, Absalom
had had commanded his servant, saying, marquis, now when Aman's heart is
married with wine, and when I say until you smite Ahman, then kill
him fear and not have not I commanded you be courageous and be valiant,
And the servants of Absalom did unto Amant as Absalom had commanded. Then all
the king's sons arose, and every man got up and took upon gat,
up upon his mule, and fled, and the cannon passed. While they
were in a way, that Tidings came to David, saying, Absalom hath
slain all the king's sons, and there is not one of them left.
Then the king arose and tear his garments and lay on the earth, and
all his services stood by with their clothes. Rent And Jonadab, the son
of Shamiah, David's brother, answered and said, let not my lord suppose
that they have slain all the young men and the king's sons. For Aman
only is dead, for by the appointment of Absalom. Thus this has been
determined from the day that he forced his sister Tamar. Now therefore, let
not my lord the king take the thing to his heart to think that all
the king's sons are dead, for Aman only is dead. But Absalom fled
and the young men and the young men that kept the watch lifted up his
eyes and looked, and behold, there came much people by the way of
the hill side beside behind him. And Johonadab said, until the king behold
the king's sons, as thy servants said, so it is. And it
came to pass as soon as he had made an end of speaking that behold,
the king's sons came and lifted up their voice and webb, and the
king also and all his servants wept very sore. But Absalom fled and went
to Tamai. Tamai the son of Amhood, king of Gashir, and David
mourned for his son every day. So Absalom fled and went to Gasher and
was there three years. And the soul of King David longed to go forth
to Absalom, for he was comforted concerning Aman, seeing he was dead.
All right, So that's the book of Second Samuel, chapter thirteen, reading,
you know, a bit of some crazy, weird family issues there will
happen. And so that was Second Samuel chapter thirteen reading. Now we're gonna
go to Second sam chapter fourteen. Reading. All right, Second Samuel chapter
fourteen, here we go. Now, Joab, the son of Zaia,
perceived that the king's heart was toward Absalom. And joe Ab sent to Ticoa
and fetched dns a wise woman and said unto her, I pray thee,
feed thyself to be a mourner, and put on a mourning apparel, and
anointing not thyself with oil, but be as a woman that had a long
time mourn for the dead, and come to the king and speak on this
matter to him. So Joab put the words in her mouth. And when
the woman Thicoa spoke to the king, she fell on her face to the
ground and did obscene abience. Aba sensor said, help o King. And
the king said, unto her, what ilieth thee? What aileth thee?
As she answered, I am indeed a widow woman and my husband is dead.
And my handmaid had two sons, and they two strove together in the
field, and there was one none to part them, but the one smote
the other and slew him. And behold, the whole family has risen against
thine handmaid. And they said, deliver him that smote his brother, that
we may kill him for the life of his brother whom he slew. And
we will destroy the hair also their hair also, And so they shall quench
my coal which is left, and shall not leave to my husband neither name
nor remember, nor remainder upon the earth. And the king said, unto
the woman, go to thine house, and I will give charge concerning thee.
And the woman of Ticco said, unto the King, my lord,
O King, Then nigulity be on me and on my father's house, and
the king in his throne be guiltless. And the King said, whosoever saith
thee, bring him to me, and he shall not touch thee anymore.
Then said she I pray thee. Let the king remember the Lord, thy
God, that wouldest not suffer the revengers of blood to destroy anymore less they
destroy my son. And he said, as the Lord liveth there shall not
one hair of thy son fall to the earth. Then the woman said,
let thine handmaid, I pray thee speak one word to tell my lord the
King. And he said, say on. And the woman said, wherefore
then hast thou thought such a thing against the people of God? For the
king doth speak this thing as one which is faulty, and that the king
doth not fetch home again has banished, for we must needs die, and
are as water split on the ground, which cannot be gathered up again.
Neither doth doth God respect is respect of any persons. Yet does he devise
means that has banished be not expelled from him? Now therefore that I might
come that I now therefore that I am come to speak of this thing unto
my lord the King. It is because the people have made me afraid.
And thy handmaid said, I will now speak it to the King. It
may be that the King will perform the request of his handmaid, For the
King will here to deliver his handmaid out of the hand of the man that
would destroy me and my son together, out of the inheritance of God.
Then thine handmaid said, the word of my lord the King shall now be
comfortable. For as the Angel of God, so as my Lord the King
to discern good and bad. Therefore the Lord thy God will be with thee.
Then the king answered the son to the man, hide not from me.
I pray thee the thing that I shall ask thee. And the woman
said, let my lord the new Let my lord the King now speak.
And the King said, is not the hand of joe Ab with thee and
all this? And the woman answered the said, as thy soul liveth my
Lord the King. None can return, none can turn to the right hand
or to the left hand. From out that my Lord the King hath spoken
for thy servant joe Ab. He bade me, and he put all these
words in the mouth of thy handmaid to fetch about this form of speech.
Hath thy servant joe Abb done this thing, and my Lord's wives according to
the wisdom of an angel of God to know all things that are in the
earth. And the King said, unto joe Abb, behold, now I
have done this thing. Go there for bring the young man Absalom again.
And joe Ab fell to the ground his face and bowed himself and thanked the
king. And joe Ab said, today, thy servant knoweth that I have
found grace in thy sight, my Lord, O King, and that the
king hath fulfilled the request of his servant. So joe Ab arose and went
to Gasher and brought Absalom to Jerusalem. And the king said, let him
turn to his own house, and let him not see my face. So
Absalom returned to his own house and saw not the king's face. But in
all Israel there was none to be so much praise as Absalom for his beauty.
From the whole soul of his feet into the crown of his head,
there was no blemish in him. And when he pulled his head, for
it was at every years, and that he pauled it because the hair was
heavy on him. Therefore he paulled it. He weighed the hair of his
head at two hundred shekels. After the king's wait, and to Absalom there
were born three sons and one daughter, whose name was Tamar. She was
a woman of a fair countenance. So Absalom dwelt two full years in Jerusalem
and saw not the king's face. Therefore Absalom sent for joe Ab to have
sent him to the king, But he would not come to him, And
then when he sent again the second time, he would not come. Therefore
he said it to his servants, See, Joe absfield is near mind and
be half barley there go and set it on fire. And absalom servants set
the field on fire. Then Joe abb arose and came to Absalom at his
house and said it to him, wherefore have thy servants set my field on
fire? At Absalom answer Joe Ab, behold, I sent unto thee saying
come hither, that I may send thee to the king to say wherefore I
might come from Gasher. It had been good for me to have been there.
Still, Now for let me see the king's face, and if there
be any iniquity in me, let him kill me. So joe Ab came
to the king and told him. And when he had called for Absalom,
he came to the king and bowed himself on his face to the ground before
the king, and the king kissed Absalom. So that's a Book of Second
Samuel, chapter fourteen, reading. Now we're gonna go to the Book of
Second Samuel, chapter fifteen, reading All right, So here we go.
And it came to pass. After this that Absalom prepared him chariots and horses
and fifty men to run before him. And Absalom rose up early and stood
beside the way of the gate. And it was so that when any man
that had in controversy came to the King of for judgment, came to the
king for judgment, that Absalom called unto him and said, of what city
art thou? And he said, thy servant is of one of the tribes
of Israel. Absalom said, untell him, see thy matters are good and
right, but there is no man deputed of the king to hear thee.
Absalom said, moreover, oh, that I were made judge in the land,
that every man which hath any suit or kate or cause, might come
into me, and I would do him justice. And it was so that
when any man came nigh to him to do him a bee since Abu since
he put forth his hand and took him, and it kissed him. And
on the manner did Absalom to all Israel that came to the king for judgment.
So Absalom stole the hearts of the men of Israel. And it came
to pass after forty years that Absalom said, unto the King, I pray
thee let me go and pay my vow, which I have vowed to to
the Lord in Hebron, for thy servant vowed to vow while I abode at
Gashir and Syria, saying, if the Lord shall bring me again, indeed
to Jerusalem, then I will serve the Lord excuse me. And the king
said, unto him, go in peace. So he arose and went to
Hebron. But Absalom sent spies throughout all the tribes of Israel, saying,
as soon as ye hear the sound of the trumpet, then ye shall say
Absalom reigneth in Hebron. And with Absalom went two hundred men out of Jerusalem
that were called, and they went in their simplicity, and they knew not
anything. And Absalom sent forth a Hithiphel, the gilon Kite, David's counselor,
from his city, even from Galore, while he offered sacrifices, and
the conspiracy was strong, for the people increased continually with Absalom. And there
came a messenger to David, saying, the hearts of the men of Israel
are after Absalom, and David said, unto all his servants that were with
him at Jerusalem, arrives, and let us flee, for we shall not
also escape from Absalom. Makes me to depart, lest he overtake us suddenly
and bring evil upon us and smite the city with the edge of the sword.
And the king's servants sent unto the king, behold, our servant are
ready to do whatsoever my lord the king shall appoint. And the king went
forth at all and all his household after him. Oh, let me repeat
that again. And David said, unto all his servants that are with him
at Jerusalem, arise and let us flee, for we shall not also escape
from Absalom. Make speed to depart, lest he overtake us suddenly and bring
evil upon us and smite the city with the edge of the sword. And
the king's servant said, unto the king, behold, thy servants are ready
to do whatsoever my lord the king shall appoint. And the king went forth,
and all his household after him. And the king left ten women,
which were concubines, to keep the house. And the king went forth and
all the people after him, and tarried into place that was far off,
and all his servants passed on beside him, and all the Cherethites, and
all the Pelothites, and all the Goodteites. Six hundred men which came after
him from Gath passed on before the King. Then said the King to tie
the Goodteite. Wherefore goest thou also with us returned to thy place, and
abide with the king. For thou art a stranger and also in exile,
where as thou camest by yesterday, but yesterday should either day make thee go
up and down with us. Seeing I go with it, I may return
thou and take back thy brethren. Mercy and truth be with thee. And
then tie answered the King has said, as the Lord liveth, and as
my lord the King liveth Shirley, shirley, in what place, my Lord
the King shall be, whether in death or life, even there also will
thy servant be. And David said it to a tie, go and pass
over, and attie. The good type passed over, and all his men
and all the little ones that were with him, and all the country wept
with a loud voice, and all the people passed over. The King also
himself passed over the brook Caudron, and all the people passed over toward the
way of the wilderness and lows. The Doc also and all the levites were
with him, bearing the ark of the Covenant of God. And they set
down the Ark of God, and Abby Abiathar went up until all the people
had done passing out of the city. And the king said to the king
sentence, as a doc carried back the Ark of God into the city.
If I shall find favor in the eyes of the Lord, he will bring
me again and show me both it and his habitation. But if he thus
say I have no delight in thee behold there am I here hear my Let
him do to me as seemeth good unto him, the king said it also
unto the doctor priest, art not thou, Assir, return into the city
in peace, and your two sons with you, Ahims thy Son, I
hammaged thy son, and Jonathan, the son of Abiathar. See, I
will tarry in the plane of the wilderness, until there come word from you
to certify me so. Doc. Therefore Abiathar carried the Ark of God again
to Jerusalem, and they tarried there, and David went up by the ascent
of mount Olivet, and wept as he went up and had his head covered,
and he went barefoot, and all the people that was with him covered
every man his head, and they went up, weeping as they went up,
And every and one told David, saying, a Hittophel is among the
conspirators with Absalom. And David said, oh, Lord, I pray thee
turned to counsel of the fell into foolishness. And it came to pass that
when David was come to the top of the mountain where he worshiped God,
behold hush Hushai the Archid. The archid came to meet with him, that
came to meet him with his coat rent and earth upon his head, to
whom David said, if thou passest on with me, then thou shalt be
a burden and timmy. But if thou returned to the city, and saying
to Absalom, I will be thy servant, O King, as I have
been thy father's servant hitherto, so will I now also be thy servant.
Then mayest thou for meet defeat the counsel of a hithephil And hast thou not
there with thee Sadak and Abiathar the priest. Therefore it shall be that what
things soever thou shalt hear out of the King's house, thou shalt tell it
to Zadok and Abiathar the priest. Behold, they have there with them their
two sons, Ahamaz, Zadok's son, and Jonathan, Abiathar's son. And
by them ye shall send it to me everything that ye can hear. So
Hashai, David's friend, came into the city, and Absalom came into Jerusalem.
As a book of Second Reader, chapter fifteen, Second Samuel, chapter
fifteen, reading, Now we're gonna go to a book of Second Samuel,
chapter sixteen, reading, all right, Second Samuel, chapter sixteen, Here
we go, All right, Second Samuel, chapter sixteen. Here we go.
And when David was a little past the top of the hill, behold
Zibba, the servant of Mephish mefi Boschef, met him with a couple of
asses saddled, and upon them two hundred loaves of bread, and one hundred
bunches of raisins, and a hundred of summer fruits, and a bottle of
wine. And the king said to Ziba, what meanest thou by these?
And Ziba said, the asses be for the king's household to ride on,
and the bread and the summer fruit for the young men to eat, and
the wine that such as be faint in the wilderness may drink. Excuse me,
And the king said, and where is thy masters son? And Ziba
said, unto the king, behold he abideth at Jerusalem. For he said,
today shall the house of Israel restored me the kingdom of my father.
Then said the King to Ziba, Behold, thine are all that pertain to
Methabo Chef. And Zibba said, I humbly beseech thee that I may find
grace in thy sight, my lord, O King. And when King David
came to baharam Bahoum, behold, thence came out a man of the family
of the House of Saul, whose name was SHAMAI. Excuse me, SHAMAI,
the son of Gara. He came forth and cursed ill as he came,
and he castones at David and at all the servants of King David,
and all the people, and all the mighty men were on his right hand
and on his left. And thus said sham I, when he cursed,
come out, come out thy bloody man, and thou thou man of Belial.
The Lord Hath returned upon thee all the blood of the house of Saul,
and who stead thou hast reigned? And the Lord Hath delivered the kingdom
into the hand of Absalom, thy son. And behold thou art taken in
thy mischief, because thou art a bloody man. Then said Abishai, the
son of Zarea, to the king, why should this dead dog curse my
lord? The king? Let me go over, I pray thee and take
off his head. And the king said, what have I done? What
have I do too? With you, ye sons of Zaria. So let
him curse, because the Lord Hath said, unto him, curse David.
Who shall then say, wherefore hast thou done so? And David said to
Abershai and to all his servants, behold, my son was came forth of
my bow, seeketh my life. How much more may this beja might do
it? Let him alone and let him a curse, for the Lord Hath
hidden hath bidden him. It may be that the Lord will look on my
affliction, and that the Lord will require me good for his cursing. This
day and as David and his men went by the way, Shemai went along
on the hillside over against him and cursed as he went, and threw stones
at him and cast dust. And the king and all the people that were
with him came weary and refreshed themselves there. And Absalom and all the people
the men of Israel came to Jerusalem, and a hythe fell with him.
And it came to pass when Hashai, the archids David's, the Archid David's
friend, was come to Absalom. That Hashai said up to Absalom, God
save the king, God save the King. And Absalom said to Hashai,
is thy kindness to thy friend? Why wouldest thou not with thy friend?
And Hashai said, unto Absalom, nay. But whom the Lord and this
people and all the men of Israel choose his will I be and with him
I abide? And again, whom should I serve? Should I not serve
in the presence of his son? As I have served in thy father's presence,
So will I be in thy presence? Then said Absalom to a Hithiphil
give counsel among you what we shall do. And a Hithiphil said, unto
Absalom, go into my father's concubines, which he hath left to keep the
house. And all Israel shall hear that thou art abhorred of thy father.
Then shall the hands of all that are with thee be strong. So they
spread absalom attempt upon the top of the house, and Absalom went unto his
father's concubines in the sight of all Israel. And the counsel of a Hithiphol,
a hithephile, which he counseled in all those days, was as if
a man had inquired at the oracle of God. So was all the hussel
of a Hitherophil, both with David and with Absalom. So that's the book
of Second Samuel, chapter sixteen. Reading. Now we're gonna get to a
book of Second Samuel, chapter seventeen. Reading all right, Second Samuel,
chapter seventeen. Here we go. Moreover, a Hithophel set up to Absolom.
Let me now choose out twelve thousand men, and I will rise and
pursue after David this night, and I will come upon him while he is
weary and weakended, and will make him afraid and all the people that are
with him shall fleet, and I will smite the king only, and I
will bring back all the people's, all the people to thee the man whom
thou seekust is as if all returned, so all the people shall be in
peace. And the saying pleased Absolom. Well, and all the elders of
Israel. Then said Absolom, calling now Hashai the archide also, and let
us hear likewise what he said. And when Hashai was come to Absolom,
Absolom spoken to him, saying, a hithefel hath spoken after this manner,
shall we go after? Shall we do after? Is saying, if not
speak thou. And Hashai said to Absalom the counsel that a hiffl hath given
us not a good? Is not good? At this time? First said
Hashai, thou knowest thy father and his men, that they be mighty men,
and they be chaffed, chafed in their minds, as as a bear
robbed of her whelps in the field. And thy father is a man of
war and will not lodge with the people. Behold, he is hidden now
in some pit or in some other place, and it will come to pass
when some of them be overthrown at the first, that whosoever heareth it will
say there is a slaughter among the people that follow Absalom. And he also
that is valiant, whose heart is at the heart of a lion, shall
utterly melt. For all Israel knows that thy father is a mighty man,
and they which and they which be with him are valiant men. Therefore I
counsel that all Israel be generally gathered un to thee from dawn, even to
Beersheba as the sam that is by the sea for multitude, and that thou
go to battle and thy own person. So shall we come upon him in
some place where he shall be found, and we will light upon him as
the dow falleth on the ground, and of him, of all the men
that are with him, there shall not be left so much as one.
Moreover, if he if he be gotten into a city, then shall Israel
bring ropes to that city, and we will draw it into the river until
there be not one small stone found there. And Absalom and all the men
of Israel, said the council of Hashai, the Archid, is better than
the council of a Hithiphel, for the Lord had appointed to defeat the good
council of a Hitheriphel, to the intent that the Lord might bring upon me,
might bring evil upon Absalom. Then said Hashi unto Zadok and to Abiathar
the priest. Thus and thus did a Hithiphel council Absalom and the elders of
Israel. And thus and thus have I counseled. Now therefore said quickly and
tell David, saying lodge not this night and the plans of the wilderness,
but speedily passed over, lest the king be swallowed up, and all the
people that are with him. Now Jonathan and Ahamas Ahama stayed by en rogel
and rogel, for they might not be seen to come into the city.
And a wench went and told them, and they went and told King David.
Nevertheless, a lad saw them and told Absalom. But they went both
of them away quickly, and came to a man's house in Baharum Baharum,
which had a well in his court. With her, they went down,
and the woman took and spread a covering over the well's mouth, and spread
ground corn there arm And the thing was not known And when Absalom servants came
to the woman to the house, they said, where is Ahamas and Jonathan?
And the woman said it to them. They be gone over the brook
of water. And when they had sought and could not find them, they
returned to Jerusalem. And it came to pass after they were departed, that
they came up out of the well and went and told King David instead of
to David arrive and passed quickly over the water. For thus hath Hitherapel counseled
against you. Then David arose and all the people that were with him,
and they passed over Jordan by the morning light their lack. Not one of
them that was not gone over Jordan. And when a Hitherfel saw that his
counsel was not followed, he saddled, He saddled his ass arose and got
and got home, got him home to his house, to his city,
and put his household in order, and hanged himself and died and was buried
in his suppulture supportray of his father. Then David came to Maha Mahanaim,
and Absolom passed over Jordan. He and all the men of Israel with him,
and Absolom made amassa captain of the host instead of joe Ab, which
Amasa was a man's son whose name was Ithra, and Israelite that went into
Abigail, the daughter of Naha, sister to Zariah, joe AB's mother.
So Israel and Absalon pitched in the land of Galid, and it came to
pass when David was come to Mahanium. Shabbai Shobi the son of Nahash of
Rabba, Rabbah of the children of Amman, and Masure, the son of
Amiel of Labite Ladebar and Barzilay Barzilai, the Galdite of Rogalim Rojalem brought beds
and basins and earthen vessels, and wheat and barley and flour, and parched
corn and beans and lentiles, and parched pulse and honey and butter and sheep
and cheese of kind for David and for the people that were with him to
eat, for they said, the people is hungry and weary and thirsty in
the wilderness. All right, So sorry, if I missed pronounced one of
those names, I'll correct me. It's all love. So there you have
it. That's the book of Second Samuel, chapter seventeen, reading all right,
Now we're gonna go to the book of second chapter eighteen, reading all
right, the Book of Second Samuel, chapter eighteen. Here we go.
And David numbered the people that were with him, and said, captains of
thousands and captains of hundreds over them. And David sent forth the third part
of the people under the head under the hand of joe Abb, and the
third part under the hand of Abushei, the son of Zaria, joe AB's
brother, and a third part under the hand of Attie, the good Tights.
And the King said, until the people, I will surely go forth
with you myself also. But the people answered, thou shalt not go forth,
for if we flee away, they will not care for us. Neither
if half of us die, will they care for us. But now thou
art, But now thou art worth ten thousand of us. Therefore, now
it is better that thou support us out of the city. And the King
said, unto them, what seemeth you best, I will do. And
the king stood by the gate side, and all the people came out,
by hundreds and by thousands. And the king commanded joe Abb and Abashai and
at Taie, saying, deal gently for my sake with the young man,
even with Absalom. And all the people heard when the king gave all the
captives charge concerning Absalom. So the people went out into the field against Israel.
And the battle was in the wood of Ephraim, where the people of
Israel who were slain before the servants of David. And there was there a
great slaughter that day of twenty thousand men. For the battle was there scattered
over the face of all the country. And the wood devoured more people that
day than the sword devoured. And Absalom at the servants of David. Absolom
rode upon a mule, and the mule went under the thick bows of a
great oak, and his head caught hold of the oak, hold of the
oak, and he was taken up between the heaven and the earth. And
the mule that was under him went away. And a certain man saw it
and told Joe Abbat said, behold, I saw Absalom hanged in an oak.
And Joe absided to the men that hold him, and behold thou sawest
him, And why didst thou not smite him there to the ground? And
I would have given the ten shekels of silver and a girdle and the master
hunt to joe Ab, though I should receive a thousand shukeles of silver in
my hand, Yet would I not put forth my hand against the King's son?
For an hour hearing the king charged thee and Abushei and Attai, saying,
beware that none touched the young man Absalom. Otherwise I should have route
falsehood against my own life, for there is no matter hid from the king,
and dow thyself. Wouldst have set thyself against me? Then said joe
Abb, I may not tearry thus with thee. And he took three darts
in his hand and thrust them through the heart of Absalom while he was yet
alive in the midst of the oak, and ten young men that bear joe
AB's armor compassed about and smote Absalom and slew him, and joe Ab blew
the trumpet, and the people returned from pursuing after Israel. For Joab held
back the people, and they took Absalom accostment to a great pit in the
wood, and laid a very great heap of owns upon him, and all
Israel fled. Everyone to his tent. Now Absalom in his lifetime, had
taken and reared up for himself a pillar which is in the kingsdale. For
he said, I have no son to keep my name. And remember say
he called the pillar after his own name, and it is called until this
day Absalom's place. Then said Ahamas, Ahmas, the son of Zadok,
Let me now run and bear the king titans. How that the Lord hath
avenged him of his enemies. And joe Ab said, unto him, thou
shalt not bear tidis this day, but thou shalt bear tidies another day.
But this day thou shalt bear no titans, because the King's son is dead.
Then said joe Ab to Kashai, to Kushi, to Kashi, Kaushi,
go tell the king what thou hast seen. And Kaushi bowed himself to
joe Ab and ran. Then said Ahmas, the son of Zadak, Yet
again to Joab, but howsoever, let me I pray. Thee also run
after Kaushi, And joe Ab said, wherefore with thou run my son,
seeing that thou hast no tidings ready. But howsoever, said he let me
run, And he said it to him run. Then Ahamas ran by the
way of the plane and overran Kashi, and David sat between the two gates,
and the watchman went up to the roof over the gate and to the
wall, and lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold a man running
alone. And the watchman cried and told the king, and the king said,
if he'd be alone, there is tidings in his mouth. And he
came a pace and drew near, and the watchman saw another man running,
And the watchman called it to the porter and said, behold another man running
alone. And the king said, he also bring the tidings. And the
watchman said, me think it the running of Foremost is like the running of
Ahamas, the son of Zadok. And the king said, he is a
good man and cometh with good tidings. And Ahamas called and said it to
the king all as well, and he fell down to the earth upon his
face before the king had said, blessed be the Lord, thy God,
which had delivered up the men that lifted up their hand against my lord the
king. And the king said, is the young man Absolom safe? And
Ahamas answered, when joe Ab sent the king's servant, and me, thy
servant, I saw a great tumult, but I knew not what it was.
And the King said, unto him, turn aside and stand here.
And he turned aside and stood still. And behold, because she came and
cush said, tidings, my Lord the King, for the Lord hath avenged
THEE this day, of all them that rose up against THEE. And the
King said it to Kaushi, as the young man Absolum safe. And because
she answered, the enemies of my lord the King, and all that rise
against THEE, to do THEE hurt be as that young man is. And
the King was much moved, and went up to the chamber over the gate
and wept. And as he went thus he said, oh, my son,
Absolom, my son, my son, Absalom, would God I had
died for THEE, Oh, Absolom, my son, my son. So
that's the Book of Second Samuel, chapter eighteen, reading all right this way,
David this morning, and weeping all right over Absalom. So now we're
going to go into the book of second Second Samuel, chapter nineteen. All
right, the Book of Second Samuel, chapter nineteen, here we go.
And it was told Joe ab behold, the king weepeth and mourneth for Absalom,
and the victory that day was turned into mourning until all the people.
For the people heard say that day how the king was greed for a son,
and the people got them by stealth that day into the city, as
people being ashamed still away when they flee in battle, But the king covered
his face, and the king cried with a loud voice, Oh, my
son, Absalom, O Absalom, my son, my son. And Joab
came into the house of the king and said, thou hast shamed has shamed
this day the faces of all thy servants, which this day hath saved thy
life, and the lives of thy sons and of thy daughters, and the
lives of thy wives, and the lives of thy concubines. And that thou
lovest thine enemy and hatest thy friends. For thou hast declared this day that
thou regardest neither princess nor servants. For this day I perceived that if Absalom
had lived, and all we had died this day, then it had pleased
thee. Well. Now therefore arrives, go forth and speak comfortably until thy
servants for I swear by the Lord. If thou go not forth, there
will not tarry one with thee this night, And that would be worse until
THEE than all the evil that befell THEE from thy youth. Until now then
the King of rose and sat in the gate, and they told until all
the people, saying, behold, the king doth sit in the gate.
And all the people came before the king, for Israel had fled, every
man to his tent, and all the people were at strife throughout all the
tribes of Israel, saying, the King saved us out of the land,
out of the hand of our enemies, and he deliveredest out of the hand
of the Philistines. And now he has fled out of the land for Absalom,
Absalom, whom we appointed over us, is dead in battle. Now,
therefore, why speak ye not a word of bringing the king back?
And King David sent to Zadok and to Abiathar. Excuse me, the priest,
saying, speaker to the eldest of Judah, saying, why are ye
the last to bring the king back to his house? Seeing the speech of
all Israel is coming to the king, even to his house. Ye are
my brethren, Ye are my bones and my flesh. Wherefore then are ye
the last to bring back the king at say ye to a massa, art
thou not of my bone and of my flesh? God, do so to
me? And more also, if thou be not captain of the host before
me continually in the room of Joab, and he bowed the heart of all
the men of Judah, even as a heart of one man, so that
they sent this word unto the king, or turned thou and all thy servants.
So the king returned and king to Jordan at Judah came to de Gal
to go to meet the king to conduct the king over Jordan. As shamai
shami Ya Shami the son of Ghara, a Benjamite which was of Bhurum,
hasted and came down with the men of Judah to meet King David. And
there were a thousand men of Benjamin with him, and Zebra, the servant
of the House of Saul, and his fifteen sons and his twenty servants with
him, and they went over Jordan before the king. And there went over
a ferry boat to carry over the king's household, as to do what he
thought good and Shami, the son of Ghara, fell down before the King
as he was come over Jordan, and said it to the King, let
not my lord impute iniquity unto me. Neither do thou remember that which thy
servant did. Perversely the day that my lord the King went out of Jerusalem,
that the King should take it to his heart, for thy servant doth
know that I have ended send. Therefore behold, I am come first.
I am come the first this day of all the house of Joseph, to
go down to meet my lord and king meet the door to meet my lord
the King. But Abishai, the son of Zariah, answered and said,
shall not Shami be put to death for this? Because he cursed the Lord's
anointed? And David said, what have I to do with you, ye
sons of Zaria Zaria, that ye should this day be adversaries? And to
me? Shall there any man be put to death this day in Israel?
For do not I know that I am this day king over Israel. Therefore
the King said, um to Shimi, thou shalt not die, And the
king swore to him, and Mafi Bullshef, the son of Saul, came
down to meet the king. And had neither dressed his feet, nor trimmed
his beard, nor washed his close from the day the King departed until the
day he came again at peace. And it came to pass when he was
come to Jerusalem to meet with the King, to meet the King, that
the King said to him, wherefore whennest not thou with me, MEFI bushev
And he answered, my lord, O King, my servant deceived me for
thy service, said I will saddle me, and asked that I may ride
thereon and go to the king, because thy servant is lame. And he
hath slandered thy servant unto my lord the King. But my Lord the King
is an angel of God. Do therefore what is good in thy eyes?
Let me just repeat that again. And he hath slandered thy servant until my
Lord the King, But my Lord the King is an angel of God,
Do therefore what is good in thine eyes? For all of my father's house
were but dead men before my lord the King. Yet didst thou set thy
servant among them that did eat at thy own table? What right therefore have
I yet to cry? And more unto the king. And the king said
unto him, why speakest thou anymore of thy matters. I have said,
thou Ziba, divide the land and meThe Bolshet said, unto the king,
yet let him take awe, for as much as my lord the king is
come again in peace unto his own house. And Barzilai, Barzil Barzilai,
the Gileadite, the Giludite, came down from Rogelim and went over Jordan with
the King to conduct him over Jordan. Now Barzilai was a very aged man,
even fourscore years old, and he had provided the king of sustenance while
he lay at Mahanium, for he was a very great man. And the
King said, unto Barzilai, come thou over with me, and I will
feed thee with me and Jerusalem. And Barzilie said, unto the King,
how long have I to live that I should go up with the King into
Jerusalem? I am to stay fourscore years old? And can I discern between
good and evil? Can thy servant taste what I eat or what I drink?
Can I hear any more the voice of singing men and singing women?
Wherefore then should my thy servant be yet a burden unto my Lord the King,
thy servant will go a little away over Jordan with the King. And
why should the king recompense it me with such to reward. Let thy servant,
I pray thee turn back again, that I may die in my own
city and be buried by the grave of my father and of my mother.
But behold, thy servant, Shesham, Shimham, let him go over with
my lord the King, and do to him what shall seem good unto thee.
Excuse me, And the King answered, Simham, shall go over with
me, and I will do to him that which shall seem good unto THEE.
And whatsoever thou shalt require of me, that I will do for thee.
And all the people went over Jordan. And when the king was come
over, the King kissed Barzilai and blessed him, and he returned unto his
own place. Then the king went on to Gilgal, and Shimham went on
with him, and all the people of Judah conducted the king, and also
half the people of Israel. And behold, all the men of Israel came
to the king and said it to the King, why have our brethren,
the men of Judah, stolen thee away? And have brought the king and
his household and all the day and all David's men with him over Jordan.
And all the men of Judah answered the men of Israel, because the king
is near of kin to us. Wherefore then be ye angry for this matter?
Have we eaten at all of the King's cost? Or hath he given
us any gift? And the men of Israel answered the men of Judah and
said, we have ten parts in the king, and we have also more
right in David than ye. Why than did ye despise us that our advice
should not be first had in bringing back our king. And the words of
the men of Judah were fiercer than the words of the men of Israel.
So that's the Book of Second sau chapter nineteen, reading. Now we're gonna
get to the Book of Second Samuel, chapter twenty reading. All right,
the Book of Second Samuel, chapter twenty. Here we go, And there
happened to be there a man of Beliel whose name was Sheba, the son
of Bishri, a Benjamite. And he blew a trumpet and said, we
have no part in David, neither have we inheritance in the son of Jesse.
Every man to his tends, oh Israel. So every man of Israel
went up from after David, and followed Sheba, the son of Bashri,
of Beatri Bitri Bhri. But the men of Judah clave until their king from
Jordan, even to Jerusalem. And David came to his house at Jerusalem,
and and the king took the ten women his concubines, to whom he had
left to keep the house, and put them in ward in word, and
fed them, but went not into them. So they were so they were
shut up until the day of their death, living in the widowhood. That
said the king to Amassa, assembled me the men of Judah within three days,
and be thou here at present. So Amasa went to assemble the men
of Judah. But he carried longer than the said time when he had appointed
him. And David said to Abashei, now Shashiba, the son of Batri
Bish, do us more harm than did Absalom. Take thou thy lord's servants,
and pursue after him, lest he get him fenced cities and escape us.
And there went out after him Joe Absmen, and the Chirethites, and
the Pilothites, and all the mighty men, and they went out of Jerusalem
to pursue after Sheba, the son of but Shrib. When they were at
the Great Stone, which is in Gibbeon, Amasa went before them, and
joe AB's garment that he had put on was girded unto him, and upon
it a girdle with a sword fastened upon his loins, and the sheath thereof,
And as he went forth it fell out, and joe Ab said to
Amasa, art thou in health, my brother. And joe Ab took a
Massa by the beard with the right hand to kiss him, and Amassa took
no heed to the sword that was in joe AB's hand, so he smote
him therewith in the fifth rib, and shut out his bows to the ground,
and struck him not again, and he died. So joe Abbasha his
brother, pursued after Sheba, the son of Bashrid. And one of joe
AB's men stood by him and said, he that favored joe Ab, and
he that is for David, let him go after joe Ab. And Amasa
wallowed in blood in the midst of all of the highway. And when the
man saw that, all the people stood still he removed Amassa out of the
highway into the field and cast a cloth upon him. When he saw that
everyone came by. Everyone that came by him stood still. When he was
removed out of the highway, all the people went on after joe Ab to
pursue after Shiba, the son of Bashi. And he went through all the
tribes of Israel, to Abel and to Beth Mayaka Mayacha, and all the
Brits, and they were gathered together and went also after him. And they
came and besieged him in a belle of Beth Mayaka Mayacha Mayaka. And they
cast up a bank against the city, and it stood in the trench,
and all the people that were with joe Ab batted the wall to throw it
down. Then cried a wise woman out of the city. Here's here say.
I prayed to joe Ab, come near hither, that I may speak
with thee. And when he was come near to unto her, the woman
said, art thou joe Ab, And he answered, I am he And
she said, unto him, hear the words of thy handmaid. And he
answered, I do hear that she spake, saying they were they were wont
to speak in old time, saying, they shall surely ask counsel at Abell.
And so they endured. They ended the matter, I am one of
them that are peaceable and faithful in Israel. Thou seekest to destroy a city
and a mother in Israel, Why wilt thou swallow up the inheritance of the
Lord? And joe Ab answered and said, far be it, far beef,
Far be it from me that I should swallow up or destroy. The
matter is not so, but a man out of Mount Ephraim, the son
of a tree, buta shri by name Hath lifted up his hand against the
king, even against David, delivered him only, and I would depart from
the city. And the woman said it to Joab, behold, his head
shall be thrown to over the wall. His head shall be thrown to thee
over the wall. Then the woman went unto all the people in her wisdom,
and they cut off the head of Sheba, the son of Bashrib,
and cast it out to Joab. And he blew a trumpet, and they
and they retired from the city. Every man to his tent retreat from the
city. And Joab returned to Jerusalem to the king. Now Joab now Joab
was over all the hosts of Israel, and Baniya Banaya, the son of
Johaidia Joe my bad, bear with me, all the son of jehol Jehoaida
was over the Jarothites and over the Pilothites. And ad Aram was over the
tribute. And Jehoshaphat the son of Hilud was recorder, as Shiva was scribe,
and Zadok and Abiathar where the priest at Ira also the jar right was
a chief ruler about David. All right, So that's the book of Second
Samuel, chapter twenty reading. Bear with me if I don't pronounce those names
right, all right, got to get it together with the pronunciation. We'll
have you in the correction and edification. But I'll take it, all right.
So that is the book of Second Samuel, chapter twenty reading. All
right. Now we're gonna get to the Book of Second Samuel, chapter twenty
one reading. All right, Second Samuel, chapter twenty one, Here we
go. Then there was a famine in the days of David, three years
year after year, and David acquired the lord, and the Lord answered,
it is for Saul and for his bloody house, because he slew the Gibbeon
knights, and the king called the Gibbeon knights and sent it to them.
Now, the gibbey knights were not of the children of Israel, but of
the remnant of the emir rights, and the children of Israel had sworn it
of them in Saul sought to slay them in his zeal to the children of
Israel and Judah. Wherefore David said, up to the Gibeon knights, what
shall I do for you? And wherewire shall I make the atonement that ye
may bless the inheritance of the Lord. And the gibbeon a knight said unto
him, we will have no silver nor gold of Saul nor of his house,
neither for us shalt thou kill any man in Israel. And he said,
what ye shall say that I will do for you? And they answered
the King, the man that consumed us and that devised against us, that
we should be destroyed from remaining in any of the coast of Israel. Let
seven men of his sons be delivered to us, and we will hang them
up until the Lord and gibbea of Saul, whom the Lord did choose.
And the King said, I will give them but the King spared Methidbuschef,
the son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, because of the Lord's oath
that was between them between David and Jonathan the son of Saul. But the
King took the two sons of Rispa, the daughter of a Lot of Aya,
Aya, whom she bared to Saul Harmony and Metha Buschef, and the
five sons of McCall, the daughter of Saul, whom she brought up after
Adriel, the son of Barzilai, the Mahilathite. And he delivered them into
the hands of the gibbeon knights, and they hanged them in the hill before
the Lord, and they fell, all seven together and were put to death
in the days of harvest in the first days in the beginning of barley harvest,
and Rispa, the daughter of Aiah, took sat cloth sat cloth and
spread it for her upon the rock from the beginning of harvest until water dropped
upon them out of heaven, and suffered neither the birds of the air to
rest on them by day, nor the beasts of the field by night.
And it was told David what Rispa, the daughter of Aya, the concubine
of Saul had done. And David went and took the bones of Saul and
the bones of Jonathan his son from the men of Jabish Gold, which had
stolen them from the street of beth Shan, where the Philistines had hanged them
when the Philistines had slain Salt and Gilboa. And he brought up from thence
the bones of Salt and the bones of Jonathan his son. And they gathered
the bones of them that were hanged, and the bones of Salt, and
Jonathan his son buried day in the country of Benjamin and Zilah and the suppultry
of Kirsha's father, and they performed all that the king commanded. And after
that God was entreated for the land, entreated for the land. Moreover,
the Philistines had yet wore again with Israel, and David went down and his
servants with him and fought against the Philistines. And David waxed faint and ishbi
Banab, which was which was of the sons of the Giant, the weight
of whose spear weighed three hundred shukeles of brass. And wait he being girded
with a new sword, thought to have slain David. But Abashaila, son
of Zarias, support him and smoked the Philistine and killed him. Then the
men of Davis swarren to him, saying, thou shalt go no more out
without us, without us to battle. That thou quenched out the light of
Israel. And it canter passed after this that there was again a battle with
the Philistines at gob at gob. Then sab Sabikai the Hushathite slew saf which
was of the sons of the Giant. And there was again a battle in
Gobe with the Philistines, where el Hanan, the son of gyre oregem Bethlamite,
slew the brother of Goliath the Getite, the staff of whose spear was
like a weaver's beam. And and there was yet a battle in Gath,
where it was a man of gray stature. And there was yet a battle
in Gath, where it was a man of great sta that stood, that
had on every hand end every hand six fingers and every foot six toes four
and twenty four in number. And he also was born to the Giant.
And when he defied, when he defied Israel, Jonathan the son of shim
Shamia the brother of David slew him. These four were born to the Giant
and gath Nfel by the hand of David and by the hand of his servants.
All right. So that's the Book of Second Samuel, chapter twenty one.
Reading. So this discuss is more a war, and how David kind
of went out a war by himself and he fainted. So the Israeites was
charging him, telling him to not go out to war by yourself. All
right, unique soldiers, you need people to go to war with you,
all right. So that's the book of Second Samud, chapter twenty one.
Now we're gonna get to the book of Second Samuel, chapter twenty two.
All right, the Book of Second Samue, chapter twenty two. Here we
go, all right, Second Samuel, chapter twenty two. Here we go.
And David spoken to the Lord the words of this song in the day
that the Lord had delivered him out of the hand of all his enemies and
out of the hand of Saul. And he said, the Lord is my
rock and my fortress, and my deliverer, the God of my rock,
and him I will trust. He is my shield and the horn of my
salvation, my high tower, and my refuge. My Savior, Thou savest
me from violence. I will call him the Lord who is worthy to be
praised. So shall I be saved from my enemies. When the waves of
deathcompassed me, the floods of ungodly men made me afraid. The sorrows of
hell come past me, But the snares of death prevented me. Hey,
Hey, Now, in my distress, I called upon the Lord and cried
to my God. And he did hear my voice out of his temple,
and my cry did enter into his ears. Then the earth shook and trembled,
the foundations of heaven moved and shook. Because he was wroth. There
went up a smoke out of his nostrils, and fire out of his mouth.
Devoured coals were kindled by it. He bowed the heavens also and came
down, and darkness was under his feet, and he rode upon a cherub
and did fly, and he was seen upon the wings of the wind.
And he made darkness pap pavilions round about him, dark waters and thick clouds
of the skies. Through the brightness before him were coals of fire kindled.
The Lord thundered from heaven, and the most high uttered his voice, and
he sent out arrows and scattered them, lightning and discomfort at them, and
the channels of the sea appeared. The foundation of the world were discovered at
the rebuking of the Lord, at the blast of the breath of his nostrils.
I just want to repeat that so beautiful. The Lord thundered from heaven,
and the most High uttered his voice, and he sent out arrows and
scattered them, lightning and discomforted them, and the channels of the sea appeared.
The found dations of the world were discovered at the rebuking of the Lord,
at the blast of the breath of his nostrils, he sent from above.
He took me. He drew me out of many waters. He delivered
me from my strong enemy and from them that hated me, for they were
too strong for me. They prevented me in the day of my calamity.
But the Lord was my stay. He brought me forth also into a large
place. He delivered me because he delighted in me. The Lord rewarded me
according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands. Hath he
recompensed me, for I have kept the ways of the Lord, and have
not wickedly departed from my God. For all his judgments were before me,
and as for his statues, I did not depart from them. I was
also upright before him, and have kept myself from iniquity, from my iniquity.
Therefore the Lord hath recompensed me according to my righteousness, according to my
cleanness, and his eyesight. With the merciful, thou wilt show thyself merciful,
and what the upright man, thou will show thyself upright. With the
pure, thou wilt show thyself pure, And with the forward Thou will show
thyself a savory And the afflicted people thou will save. But thy eyes are
upon the haughty, that thou mayest bring them down. For thou art my
lamp, o Lord, and the Lord will lighten my darkness. For by
thee I have run through a troop. By my God have I leaped over
a wall. As for God, his way is perfect. The word of
the Lord has tried. He is a buckler to all them that trust in
him. For who is God? Save the Lord, who is a rock?
Save our God. For God is my strength and power. And he
maketh my way perfect. He maketh my feet like hen's feet, and setteth
me upon high places. He teacheth my hands to war, so that a
bow of still is broken by my arms. Thou hast also given me the
shield of thy salvation and thy gentleness. Hath met man, hath made me
great. Thou has enlarged my steps under me, so that my feet and
I slip. I have pursued my enemies and destroyed them, and turned not
again until I had consumed them. And I have consumed them and wounded them,
that they could not arise. Yeah, they are fallen under my feet.
For thou hast girded me with strength to battle them that rose up against
me. Hast thou subdued under me. Thou hast also given me the necks
of my enemies, that I might destroy them that hate me. They looked,
but there was none to save, even unto the Lord. But he
answered them. Not then did I beat them as small as the dust of
the earth. I didstamped them as amyer of the street, and did spread
them abroad. Thou also has delivered me from the strivings of my people.
Thou hast kept me to behead of the heathen of people which I knew,
which I knew not shall serve me. Strangers shall submit themselves and to me.
As soon as they hear they shall be obedient to me. Strangers shall
fade away, and they shall be afraid out of the closed places. The
Lord liveth and blessed be my rock, and exalted be the God of the
rock of my salvation. It is God that avengeth me, and that bringeth
down the people under me, and that bringeth me forth from my enemies.
Thou also has lifted me up on a high above them that rose up against
me. Thou hast delivered me from the violent man. Therefore I will give
thanks to the old Lord among the heathen, and I will sing praises to
thy name. He is a tower of salvation for his king, and showeth
mercy to his anointed, to David and to the sea forevermore. Yes,
a man, that's beautiful. It's a beautiful song right there from David or
David could go many David, David could sing, dance, got bars,
could praise poet all that that was Second Samuel twenty two. And I was
very beautiful, you know, Davis. You know David made a song to
the Lord. You know that's very beautiful Second Salmon twenty two. Y'all should
reread that. I'm gonna start reading that from nine on. All right,
So that's the song. David had a song after the Lord had to live
him out of the hand of all his enemies, you know, out of
the hand of Saul. So David had a song to sing. Amen.
When God delivers us from something, God brought us out through something, all
we could do is rejoice, give him glory, and sing a song to
him. Amen. Yes, yes, we all have a testimony. We
all have a song to sing. Amen. So the Lord is definitely a
deliverer. Amen. Now we're gonna go into a book of Second Samuel,
chapter twenty three. All right, Second Samuel twenty three. Here we go.
Now these be the last words of David. David, the son of
Jesse, said, and the man who was raised up on high, the
anointed of the God of Jacob, and the sweet songist of Israel, said,
the spirit of the Lord spoke by me, and his word was in
my tongue. The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spoke to
me. He that ruleth overmen must be just, ruling in the fear of
God. And he shall be as the light of the morning when the sun
riseth, even the morning without clouds, as to tend the grass springing out
of the earth by clear shining after rain. Although my house being not so
with God, yet he hath made me with an everlasting covenant, ordered in
all things and sure. For this is all my salvation and all my desire.
Although he make it not grow. Hold on, I want to read.
I want to repeat that, although my house being not so with God,
yet he hath made me with an everlasting covenant, ordered in all things
and sure, for this is all my salvation and all my desire, although
he make it not to grow. But the suns of belial shall be,
all of them as thorn starts away, because they cannot be taken with hands.
But the man that shall touch them must be fenced with iron and the
staff of a spirit, and they shall be utterly burned with fire. In
the same place, these be the names of the mighty men whom David had
the Tashman knight that sat in the seat chief among the captains. The same
was Adino, that as knight he lift up his spear against eight hundred whom
he slew at one time and after him was Elizar Elazar, the son of
Da do Dud the aha Heit, one of the three Mighty men with David
when they defied the Philistines that were gathered together the battle and the men of
Israel were gone away, he arose and smoked the Philistines until his hand was
weary. Excuse me, all my bat, Let me read that he arose
and smoked the Philistines until his hand was weary, and his hand clave until
the sword, and the Lord wrought a great victory that day, and the
people returned after him only to spoil. And after him was Shamah, the
son of Aghi the how Right, and the Philistines were gathered together into a
troop where it was a piece of ground full of lentiles, and the people
fled from the Philistines. But he stood in the midst of the ground and
defended it and slew the Philistines, and the Lord wrought a great victory,
and three of the thirty chief went down and came to David. In the
harvest time unto the cave of Adelum Adelamb and a troop of the Philistines pitched
in the valley of raythem Raphaim and David was then in a hold, and
the garrison of the Philistines was then in Bethlehem. And David longed and said,
oh, that one would give me drink of the water of the well
of Bethlehem, which is by the gate. And the three mighty men broke
through the host of the Philistines and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem
that was by the gate, and took it and brought it to David.
Nevertheless, he would not drink thereof, but poured it out unto the Lord,
and he said, be it far from me, oh Lord, that
I should do the is not this the blood of the men that went into
jeopardy of their lives? Therefore he would not drink it. These things,
these things did these three mighty men. And Abishai, the brother of joe
Ab the son of Zaria, was chief among three. And he lifted up
his spirit against three hundred and slew them, and had the name among three?
Was he not most honorable of three? Therefore he was their captain.
How Bit he attained not unto the first three. And Benaya, the son
of Johiada, the son of valiant Man, the son of a valiant man
of Kabzil, who had done many acts. He slewed two lion like men
of Moab. He went down also and slew a line in the midst of
a pit in time of snow. And he slew an Egyptian, a goodly
man. And Egyptian had a spear in his hand. But he went down
to him with the staff and plucked the spirit out of the Egyptian's hand and
slewed him with his own spear. These things did Baniyah Banaya, the son
of Johaida and the had and had the name among three mighty men. He
was more honorable than the thirty. But he attained not to the first three,
and David sent him over his guard. Asahel, the brother of Joab,
was one of thirty. One of the thirty. El Hanan, the
son of Dado of Bethlehem, Shamah, the Harodite Elika, the Horodite Alez,
the Paltite Ira, the son of Akish, the ti Koite, Abazar,
Abezer, the Anethite, Anethanite, Aneite, mebanal Mebani, the Hushathite
Zalman, the Ahathite Maharai, the Natsa Pitea, the Natsa Phathite Halib,
the son of Bayina Bayana Anata Phathite attire, the son of Rabbai out of
Gabia, of the children of Benjamin Benaya, the Perithanite Hadai, the brooks
of Gosh Geyash gosh Abai Alban, the Arbathite Asma viv Asthma Vev, the
Barhamite Eliabah, the shah Lahite of the sons of Joshin Jonathan, Shahmah the

Ali Filet, the son of a Hashabai, Ahasbai, the son of the
Maya Chathite Eliam, the son of Ahita, the a Hithaphel, the Gilonite
has Rai, the Carmelite, the Carmelite Parasai, the arbite A Gall,
the son of Nathan of Zoba, Bonnie Banaigh, Bonnie, the Goodite.
Oh, let me repeat that his Rai, the Carmelite pr Rai, the
arbite A Gall, the son of Nathan of Zoba Zaba Bani Banaig, the
Gooddite select the Ammonite Nahari, the Berethite armor bearer to joeab the son of
zaia Ira, and I right, Garab, and if right you're Ray of
the Hittite thirty and seven in all right, So that's the book of Second
Samuel twenty three reading, all right, just listing all of the people around
David, all the warriors, all the different peoples and tribes and backgrounds or
what have you. All right, So now we're gonna get into the book
of Second Samuel. Chapter twenty four, Second Samuel, twenty four. This
is the last chapter of Second Samuel, all right, So after this we
would start diving into the book of first Kings. All right, So definite
looking forward to that, the book of first Samuel, Second Samul, of
very good books. And this is the completion of it today, all right,
tonight. So here we are, y'all, Second Samuel twenty four.
Here we go, last chapter, and again the anger of the Lord was
kindled against Israel, and he moved David against them to say, go number
Israel and Judah. For the King said to joe Ab, the captain of
the host which was with him, go now through all the tribes of Israel,
from Dan even to Beersheba, and number ye the people that I may
know the number of the people. And joe Ab said, unto the King.
Now the Lord that God add unto the people, how manysoever they be,
and hundredfold, and that the eyes of my lord, the King may
see it. But why doth my Lord, the King delight in this king
and this thing? Notwithstanding, the King's word prevailed against Joab and against the
captors of the Host. And Joab and the captors of the Host went out
from the presence of the king to number the people of Israel. And they
passed over Judah. They passed over Jordan, and pitched in Aurora, on
the right side of the city that lie in the midst of the River of
God, and towards Jazur Jazer. Then they came to Glead and to the
land of to Tim to tim Hashai. And they came to dan Jane,
Danjan, and about to Zadan, and came to the stronghold of Tyree,
and to all the cities of the Hivites and of the Canaanites. And they
went out to the south of Judah, even to Beersheba. So when they
had gone through all the land, they came to Jerusalem at the end of
nine months and twenty days, and Joab gave up the sum of the number
of the people and to the king, and there were in Israel eight hundred
thousand valiant men that drew the sword, and the men of Judah were five
hundred thousand men. And David's heart smote him that after that he had numbered
the people. And David sent er to the Lord. I have sent greatly
in that I have done, And now I beseech thee old Lord take away
the iniquity of thy si if I've done very foolishly. For when David was
up in the morning, the word of the Lord came into the prophet God
David's here, saying, go and send to David. Thus set the Lord.
I offer THEE three things. Choose three. Choose THEE one of them,
that I may do it unto THEE. So God came to David and
told him and said, unto him, shall seven years of family come into
THEE in thy land, or with thou flee three months before thy enemies while
they pursue THEE, or that there be three days pestilence in thy land.
Now advisers, see what answer I shall return to him that sent me.
And David said it to God. I am in a great strait. Let
us fall now to the hand of the Lord, for his mercies are great,
and let me not fall into the hand of man. So the Lord
sent a pestilence upon Israel from the morning even till the time appointed, and
there died of the people from Dan even to Beersheba, seventy thousand men.
And when the Angel stretched out his hand upon Jerusalem to destroy it, the
Lord repented him of the evil and said to the Angel that destroyed any people,
it is enough, staying now to thy hand. And the Angel of
the Lord was by the thrushing place of a rah Aruna the Jebusite, and
David spoken to the Lord when he saw the angel that smote the people,
and said, lo, I have sinned, and I have done wickedly.
But these sheep, what have they done? Let thy hand I pray thee
be against me and against my father's house. And God came that day to
David and said to him, go up, we're and all turn to the
Lord. In the threshing floor of Aruna, the Jebusite and David, according
to the saying of God, went up as the Lord commanded, and Aruna
looked and saw the King and his servants coming on toward him, and Aruna
went out and bowed himself before the King on his face upon the ground.
And Aruna said, wherefore is my lord? The king come to a servant,
and David said, to buy the front the threshing floor of thee,
to build an altarn to the Lord, that the plague may be stayed from
the people. And a Runa said it to David, Let my lord the
King take an offer what seemeth good unto him. Behold beer, here be
oxen for burnt sacrifice, and threshing instruments and other instruments of the oxen for
wood. All these things did Aruna as a king give un to the King.
And Aruna said it to the King. The Lord thy God, accept
thee. And the King said it to Aruna, nay, but I will
surely buy it of thee at a price. Neither will I offer offerings or
to the Lord my God, of that which doth cost me nothing. So
David brought the flushing floor and the oxen for fifty shakes of silver, and
David built they're an altar into the Lord and offered offerings of peace offerings.
So the Lord wasn't treated for the land, and the plague was stayed from
Israel. Very interesting where they finished the book of Second Samuel. So here
you see God's anger very kindled towards Israel, you know, and he's punishing
Israel. He's punishing David and Israel altogether. And God is speak of David
through a prophet saying through through God and saying, hey, you have three
choices. Which one do you want to pick as far as your destruction or
being recompensed your chastisemith. So David just rolled with the pestilence one, you
know, because that one was just three days. It was the shortest one,
so David picked that one. He was also chosen with the option of
seven years of famine or three months before the enemy. So David of course
picked the shortest punishment, you know what I'm saying. So you see God's
anger to with him and chasting him and discipline him what have you. But
you know, David and Israel, they all did wicked before the Lord.
They all straight away from the commandment. So God had to punish them and
make a lesson out of it and make an example out of them, you
know what I mean. Like the God is no respective of persons as mighty
and King David was. He still was tripping and still disobeyed, So it
would be unfair if God punished all types of people except David, you get
what I'm saying. So that was a point of God punishing David to make
an example out of him too. You know, we serve a fair a
God, we serve a just God, you know. So, um yeah,
man, that's a very interesting way to end the book of Second samuel
A. Right, So you're seeing like the whole Israel and Judah kingdoms,
like you know, you see the division among it, you see the weakness
of it, you see the disobedience. Starting to see what started all this,
you get what I'm saying, the royalty, the kingship, how it's
passed down. You're starting to see how it was kind of all broken down
through disobedience, division, pride, disobeings to God, things of that nature.
So we're gonna get definitely gonna get more into that, all right,
Like these things that are going on within this scripture here and even before two
leads up to why we're all scattered off four coins of the earth. Right
now, you know what I'm saying, this is why we're all scattered and
not really in our power like that, you know what I'm saying as far
as like material status or whatnot, because of what our forefathers did, you
know. So we have to be obedient people and really follow Christ and follow
the Gospel. Amen. Because you saw the examples of what happened to those
before as you saw how God did them, all right, So we can't
repeat those patterns. We have to be the everlasting foundation that Daniel had a
dream belt. Amen. We have to really be obedient, faithful people,
all right, So that you have a child. That's the Book of Second
Samuel reading overall, all right. So after this Bible series, we're gonna
continue this Bible series on the Book of First Kings. Are gonna get into
the First Kings on the next episode and just go from there. Right,
So there you have a child. First Samuel, Second Samuel. Very beautiful
books, man. I enjoy reading them. I love reading about all the
stories of it. I love ring about the priest, the prophet of Samuel,
how blessed he was, and how obedient he was, and how he
handled God's service, and how he ministered and how he handled the priesthood and
his responsibility and duties. Amen. And I love the story of you know,
the story of sauls an interests of story too. You know, every
story is always the less you could get out of it, you know.
And I also like the story of David that just you know, David was
tripping when he was you know, while not being disobedient, you know,
but him killing Goliath and being king and all those things. It was nice,
but he saw the decisions he made Ladder, you know, he disobeyed.
So I got to learn from that, all right, So that you
have it, what I would love to do as I close out, is
give all the glory to the most High God of Abraham, Masac and Jacob,
and praise it's only begotten son who died for us ands. Amen.
