[SPEAKER_02]: Hey everybody, welcome to another Baseball America hot sheet.
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm JJ Cooper joined by Binbabler and Jeff Pond to the BA staff.
[SPEAKER_02]: And today we are talking all about the top 100, because we rolled out the top 100 prospects list.
[SPEAKER_02]: We're going to dive into that today.
[SPEAKER_02]: But before we do that, we have a little bit of a programming note.
[SPEAKER_02]: This next week, we are switching times.
[SPEAKER_02]: We will be going live Tuesday, three PM Eastern going forward.
[SPEAKER_02]: So you will see a little bit of a time change.
[SPEAKER_02]: 3 p.m. Eastern you can see us on the baseball America YouTube page as usual, same content.
[SPEAKER_02]: We still love to take your questions, but we're going to do it a little bit of a different time.
[SPEAKER_02]: And with that out of the way, let's go to the first move.
[SPEAKER_02]: So we have the top 100 prospects.
[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, Connor Griffith, number one, as you would expect.
[SPEAKER_02]: Kevin McGonagall, JJ, whether he'll lead the way, but today we want to also talk about some of the guys who are on the rise in the top 100.
[SPEAKER_02]: Some of the guys who we think while they're already there could even keep moving up a little bit more.
[SPEAKER_02]: Ben?
[SPEAKER_02]: You wanted to talk about Dodgers out that are Mike Seroda, who had, was Red's drafty traded to the Dodgers and then had a breakout first half of the season, had a knee injury missed some time, but what about Mike Seroda has you excited about his future?
[SPEAKER_00]: How what's not to be excited about is kind of the better question maybe with him because he just seems like such a well rounded blend of tools skills and athleticism at a premium position, you know, the one
[SPEAKER_00]: knock if you want to put it is what you said.
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he got injured so we didn't really see him much toward the end of this or at all at the end of the season.
[SPEAKER_00]: So we only got to see him, you know, as obviously a college guy facing low A and high competition, he was great there.
[SPEAKER_00]: But on an ideal world, we would like to see him in double A, but I don't see what about his skill set is not going to continue to translate at higher levels.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's the swing works well.
[SPEAKER_00]: We saw an uptick in power last year.
[SPEAKER_00]: So he has plus rom power.
[SPEAKER_00]: He's able to get the head out front when he wants to turn on balls for power.
[SPEAKER_00]: And he's also comfortable letting the ball travel deeper and driving the ball out to.
[SPEAKER_00]: to the middle of the field and right center field to good defender, good runner, premium position, center field like there's just so many different ways that that Mike Sorota adds value both offensively and defensively.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think as soon as he comes back, starts performing in double way and I imagine he's probably going to need a ton of time in double way.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think he's a guy who's
[SPEAKER_02]: We'll see if it's with the Dodgers because the Dodgers, as we know, don't exactly have a whole lot of room for prospects to move in, but whether it's with the Dodgers or being packaged in a trade, there are a lot of different ways to the big leagues.
[SPEAKER_02]: Jeff, when we went into last season, coming out of the draft, let's just say that, coming out of the draft a couple of years ago, it was Connor Griffin and Bryce Rainer were the top prep short stops in that class.
[SPEAKER_02]: I would say that since Connor Griffin is our number one prospect in the game, that Connor Griffin has really kind of emerged.
[SPEAKER_02]: But Bryce Rainer, who was in the FSL with him, until he had a shoulder injury, was showing kind of similar type of power.
[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe a little bit less athleticism, maybe a little bit less, you know, as far as the just absurdly allowed tools that Connor Griffin has.
[SPEAKER_02]: But Bryce Rainer is someone who really could
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think, you know.
[SPEAKER_01]: might even have been ranked higher than he's ranked in the top 100 had he played 80 or 90 games last year was limited to just 35 in the Florida State League, which, you know, I think, you know, whether it's the Carolina League or the Florida State League both flow a leagues obviously, it always should be mentioned how difficult it is to hit four power in those leagues and that's something that Rainer in those 35 games did show and he showed it throughout his time in the
[SPEAKER_01]: a good look at that clear water pod.
[SPEAKER_01]: So I solved quite a few Bryce Rainer games.
[SPEAKER_01]: I saw Connor Griffin.
[SPEAKER_01]: While the tools aren't as loud as Griffin, I think the power might actually be equal.
[SPEAKER_01]: He hits the ball equally as hard to Griffin.
[SPEAKER_01]: The performance in games is there.
[SPEAKER_01]: 288 383 448 over those 35 games in Lakeland.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's a 134 WRC plus.
[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you see this swing as well.
[SPEAKER_01]: He's not a guy that necessarily sells out for power.
[SPEAKER_01]: It comes naturally.
[SPEAKER_01]: I would describe him as a hit-o-with-power.
[SPEAKER_01]: He's a guy that makes contact with breaking balls and good-rake and catch-up to velocity.
[SPEAKER_01]: He can hit balls high in the zone.
[SPEAKER_01]: He can adjust for balls lower in the zone.
[SPEAKER_01]: And can hit balls hard in the air to his pull side, which is not something that
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, a lot of guys right out of the draft can do.
[SPEAKER_01]: It is a bigger body.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's probably more of like your Marcelo Meyer, or your, you know, Cory Seagre type of a short stop build.
[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe that moves him over to third base.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think guys that have this build in profile always a little risky to move that direction.
[SPEAKER_01]: But, you know, good enough bats of ball skills, which I think can improve excellent swing decisions.
[SPEAKER_01]: He did run a little bit.
[SPEAKER_01]: He's a better runner.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think underway than people probably expect, just based on the build in the size.
[SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, 108, nine, he had per centile EV put him in the top 1% of minor leagueers in the higher.
[SPEAKER_02]: Jeff, when I come back to you on one other guy, we're a quick on a pitcher who was kind of further back on the list, but maybe some people would be surprised to see Tanner McDougle on the baseball market top 100, the White Satch right hander.
[SPEAKER_02]: What is about it, McDougle, that's kind of climbed him onto the 100.
[SPEAKER_02]: And is this kind of the the ceiling for him or is there a possibility of him moving up further in 26?
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think it's reasonable to think that, you know, there's more to come with McDougal.
[SPEAKER_01]: So guy that dealt with some injuries was, you know, a high school prospect back in in 2021 if I'm not mistaken.
[SPEAKER_01]: Took a couple years for it to gel, but it's big power.
[SPEAKER_01]: One of the hardest throwing right handed pictures in our list.
[SPEAKER_01]: One of the hardest throwing pictures on our top 100 list, 97.5 was his average, excuse me, average velocity on the forcing fastball last year.
[SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't ride it at a ton, but he is a guy that generates a ton of raw spin.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's 2500 to 2600 rpm on that forcing fastball, which tells me you could probably add a sinker or cutter variation to that.
[SPEAKER_01]: be a guy that, you know, kind of expands the arsenal and gets even better as time goes on.
[SPEAKER_01]: He could spin a variety of breaking ball shapes and a curve ball on the slider, the change up isn't bad as well, though it does need more development.
[SPEAKER_01]: We saw a big step forward in terms of strife throwing and the performance followed.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, think you look at the build, you look at the body, you look at the power, the spin trades, the fact that
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, he has been a successful starter, at least last year in particular, could be a guy that maybe takes another step forward as he gets more experience in the upper levels.
[SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, for all the things that we can knock the white socks for Brian Bannister and that white socks pitching development is done a really good job of the last couple years.
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to also highlight another prospect on the top 100 who probably came one of the most least likely top 100 prospects.
[SPEAKER_02]: Let's say that because.
[SPEAKER_02]: There's a lot of teams that don't really scout junior college hitters these days.
[SPEAKER_02]: Bo Davidson, called well county jc out of North Carolina, was at a junior college.
[SPEAKER_02]: Signed as an undrafted free agent, 2023.
[SPEAKER_02]: Here we are.
[SPEAKER_02]: He is a top 100 prospect just a couple years later.
[SPEAKER_02]: There's real tools here.
[SPEAKER_02]: There's real hitting ability power, athleticism, a chance to kind of
[SPEAKER_02]: And I just kind of want to highlight him though because he really is someone who we're talking about guy who really in the span of just a couple of years has gone from who's that to a guy who now is a top 100 prospect in an improving giants organization.
[SPEAKER_02]: But when we're looking at the top 100, we can never stop with, okay, here's our top 100.
[SPEAKER_02]: We always are looking ahead.
[SPEAKER_02]: We always want to tell you about the stars of tomorrow today.
[SPEAKER_02]: And so let's jump into also the possibilities for who could be number one in 2027.
[SPEAKER_02]: As you see Hazus Made on the screen right there, I would tell you that Hazus Made is probably in the pole position to be number one because he is the highest rank prospect on our top 100 who realistically would not expect to graduate this year.
[SPEAKER_02]: He could reach the major this year.
[SPEAKER_02]: but it's hard to believe a hitter who has five games of double a time is going to get enough playing time in the big leagues to graduate also he's still a teenager as well.
[SPEAKER_02]: So Haisu's motto obviously stands out, but Ben, what about you help our draft coverage?
[SPEAKER_02]: Is it crazy to think that Rock Chalaski, the UCLA shortstop, who is number one on the baseball America draft prospect rankings?
[SPEAKER_02]: Is it crazy to think that he could be that incredibly rare?
[SPEAKER_02]: We've seen it with Bryce Harper, but we do not see prospects to normally jump straight from the draft to the number one spot on our top 100.
[SPEAKER_02]: Is it something where Rock could be the exception that that manages to pull that off?
[SPEAKER_00]: maybe I don't think he will be though.
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I think he's very strong favorite to go number one overall in the draft, but just realistically how much confidence are you going to have in him
[SPEAKER_00]: just coming out of a season at UCLA and college compared to other guys.
[SPEAKER_00]: So I think are just going to separate themselves some more with upper level performance, whether it is somebody like Hazoo's mod day or somebody else coming up.
[SPEAKER_00]: So I think Rochilowski, look, if he were a prospect right now,
[SPEAKER_00]: conservatively he'd be a top 20 prospect in baseball.
[SPEAKER_00]: We probably have him top 15.
[SPEAKER_00]: Some people would probably have him top 10 overall.
[SPEAKER_00]: But it'd be hard to put a college player.
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, again, unless it was somebody like a Steven Straussburg level talent was just like, oh, my goodness, this guy is so much better than everybody else to put somebody like that.
[SPEAKER_02]: I kind of agree with you Ben, I just don't see it.
[SPEAKER_02]: I see him being very ranked highly.
[SPEAKER_02]: We don't even know obviously we have a full season to go.
[SPEAKER_02]: There's always the chance that he could end up sliding off of that number one spot in the draft.
[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe he does go number one.
[SPEAKER_02]: But even if he does go number one, it is something where we will see that guy usually go somewhere in the 10, 15, 20 range until they've kind of shown that they've made that jump to pro ball.
[SPEAKER_02]: We don't really see players go number one.
[SPEAKER_02]: But okay, so Jeff, if we take, say that we don't think rocking necessarily will mod a obviously is a good candidate.
[SPEAKER_02]: Who's another candidate to you who we should be keeping an eye on as potentially a number one prospect in the game a year from now once the Conagrethens and Kevin McGonagls have graduated.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think one for me is Caleb Bonnermer.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think you sort of look at this profile and it's very reminiscent of Gunner Henderson in terms of like size of the two athletes and the athletic testing, it was nearly one for one and that's across multiple teams that I've confirmed this with.
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, teams do their own sort of athletic testing data and use sort of different points, you know, of emphasis within their testing.
[SPEAKER_01]: you know, there's a similarity there just in terms of like the chassis of the two players.
[SPEAKER_01]: And then I think you see the two guys, there might be maybe a little bit more power with Garner at this point.
[SPEAKER_01]: He's a little bit better of a defender, I think than Bonham or Ed's, or or will ever be.
[SPEAKER_01]: But I think the hit tool might be a little bit better on Bonham or between the two of them.
[SPEAKER_01]: with comparable power and angles and could kind of be that guy that is maybe a short stop and until there's a better short stop at the major league level and he moves over to third base or maybe even the second base.
[SPEAKER_01]: But someone I do think will stick in the end field.
[SPEAKER_01]: But there's bats and ball skills here, you know, right out of the draft this year, you know, 15.1, excuse me, last year, first
[SPEAKER_01]: If it hits well against breaking balls, hits well against the off speed, murders fastballs, doesn't have any issues with velocity.
[SPEAKER_01]: The EVs are well above average for age and level.
[SPEAKER_01]: The angles are really good.
[SPEAKER_01]: He's a guy that knows how to backspin a ball to his pull side, which is not something guys typically have with no pro experience heading into a season.
[SPEAKER_01]: Would have been nice to see him at high A for a little longer period of time, but I think
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, some of that was just a backfill within the organization and not being able to sort of push him up.
[SPEAKER_01]: And once again, as we said, you know, the top of the show we've said this other times, Carolina League is not the easiest place to put up really good numbers.
[SPEAKER_01]: And he really performed it was one of the better hitters and finally baseball this year.
[SPEAKER_02]: So Ben, we've said that when we expect Kevin and I go to graduate this year.
[SPEAKER_02]: But there's another tiger's prospect that stands out to you that might be able to be kind of a sneaky don't forget about him for next year's number one.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think Max Clark probably doesn't end up graduating and if he doesn't end up graduating, I think you're going to be looking at somebody who is going to continue to perform at a high level and will probably at this time next year have really strong double A and really strong triple A level performance from a player who is a great athlete and a very well-rounded player.
[SPEAKER_00]: I has an extremely accurate barrel.
[SPEAKER_00]: He even swings and misses a little bit less than Kevin McGonagle.
[SPEAKER_00]: He's always had excellent hand eye coordination.
[SPEAKER_00]: He draws a ton of walks.
[SPEAKER_00]: So I think the components are there for him to be a high on base percentage guy.
[SPEAKER_00]: the swing path is a little bit flatter so you don't see like huge power numbers right now but I think that's gonna come for him just as he continues to mature and evolve as a hitter learned which pitches to try to take more chances on to try to drive for power and advantage counts and I think most likely he'll help settle in in a lot of years as a 15, 20 home run type guy but he's also somebody where
[SPEAKER_00]: I could see some, you know, like Jacobi L's very type 30 plus home run season in there when he gets in his prime, gets in his peak, so I don't think that's going to be a consistent thing for him, but just a really well rounded players and again on base at a high clip, hit for some power and play defense at a premium position in center field.
[SPEAKER_02]: So that's our looks at the top 100 prospects, which you can see the fullest over at baseballamerica.com.
[SPEAKER_02]: but we also had trade recently that involved top 100 prospects.
[SPEAKER_02]: We actually, once we rolled out the top 100, we had to go in there and change the names of the team names of a couple of players, because they were in there as Metz, and now they're brewers, and we'll talk about that on the final sprint.
[SPEAKER_02]: So we wanted to look at a pair.
[SPEAKER_02]: We had a pair of very interesting pitching trades recently.
[SPEAKER_02]: We're going to start with, we got the Freddy Paraltitrade as Freddy Paraltit goes from the brewers to the mats.
[SPEAKER_02]: And then we had the Mackenzie Gore trade as Mackenzie Gore from Ghost from the Nationals to the Rangers.
[SPEAKER_02]: But starting off with that Paraltitrade bin,
[SPEAKER_02]: two prospects in return, Brandon Sprote, Jet Williams.
[SPEAKER_02]: We know that the brewers have a type.
[SPEAKER_02]: They love their versatile, well, I would describe them as infielders, right?
[SPEAKER_02]: They can play infielders.
[SPEAKER_02]: They've turned Southfrileic into a guy who can play kind of infielding an outfield, even a little bit, because he was an outther and moved to the infield.
[SPEAKER_02]: They turned before trading in a way.
[SPEAKER_02]: They've had players that they take it from the infield in his Isaac Collins and moved to the outfield.
[SPEAKER_02]: Jet Williams is someone who kind of comes in pre-made.
[SPEAKER_02]: He's able to play in the infield as a short stop
[SPEAKER_02]: and he can play in the outfield as a center field or two top one here across both him and brainless brother, top one under prospects.
[SPEAKER_02]: How do you see Jet Williams fitting and kind of what do you think of this return that the brewer's got for Freddie Perlta?
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'm not sure exactly where he's going to fit into the brewers because I don't know that he's going to play shortstop for them on a regular basis, second base, that's pretty well covered for them right now and they already have a bunch of different centerfielders weren't around their outfields.
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know the exact best fit for jet Williams.
[SPEAKER_00]: Although I imagine he's going to start the year and in triple A. I do like this trade for the Met's though.
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you're getting Freddie Pearl to who.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's only one season of team control, but you're getting a front end starter.
[SPEAKER_00]: Guys been going three straight years, striking out 200 plus batteries a five and a half war guy the year before.
[SPEAKER_00]: And like jet Williams, Brandon Sprout, those are obviously good prospects.
[SPEAKER_00]: They're both in our top 100 right now.
[SPEAKER_00]: But you're not giving up anybody if you're the meds where, you know, you're counting on them to be a core part of like your next big championship.
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, like Brandon Sprout is a very good prospect, but he's a very good prospect because he's somebody who is
[SPEAKER_00]: Basically, ready right now to step in and come into that, you know, back in number four type starter.
[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe you like him a little bit more.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think he's going to be a number three.
[SPEAKER_00]: But a lot of the value is him being ready right now.
[SPEAKER_00]: And jet Williams again, another good prospect.
[SPEAKER_00]: But if you're the Metz.
[SPEAKER_00]: like I don't I don't know where he fits in for the brewers.
[SPEAKER_00]: I wasn't sure what he's going to fit in for the Matt's either because he got Windor and now you just signed Bashetting.
[SPEAKER_00]: You're just traded for Marcus Simeon and you got some guys already out there in the outfield.
[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously Soto Carson Benja I think is a better prospect.
[SPEAKER_00]: I like AJ Ewing also a little bit more.
[SPEAKER_00]: Then jet Williams.
[SPEAKER_00]: So these are the kind of trades where you want to make if you're the match.
[SPEAKER_00]: Do you want to build up that really strong farm system that they had and I think still have even after trading those guys to try to leverage them so that you can have a Freddie Pearl to at the top of your rotation.
[SPEAKER_02]: Jeff, I'll let you take this question from NastyWig who asks, how does Broat compare to what priest are turned into?
[SPEAKER_02]: And I will just note with that.
[SPEAKER_02]: One of the reasons that the brewers were able to make this trade is kind of the highway robbery of getting Quinn Priester and then developing him into the guy that the pirate thought they were drafting a few years ago.
[SPEAKER_02]: Quinn Priester kind of bounced around a lot and then comes to the brewers and really kind of took off.
[SPEAKER_02]: is a higher regarded prospect than prester was at this time last year, but then obviously when prester took a step forward.
[SPEAKER_02]: But do you think that they can get a similar level of impact on a sprote or is that asking too much?
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, priesthood wasn't even a prospect actually last year.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'd already graduated and gotten gotten as teeth kicked around with a few different organizations by that point.
[SPEAKER_01]: Different, I mean, it's a different type of player.
[SPEAKER_01]: Priesthood, you're kind of betting on some of those spin traits and getting more command that was there.
[SPEAKER_01]: There was obviously some power to go along with that.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think you look at somebody like Sprote and it's six different pitch shapes, maybe seven.
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, really knows how to sort of, he's never really going to ride his foreseen fastball, but it's effective enough based on his locations.
[SPEAKER_01]: Mix it in the sink or more.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think generally allowed him to get deeper into starts, navigate, lineups a little bit better at the triple A level, which is not easy to do.
[SPEAKER_01]: He's got three different breaking ball shapes between the sweeper, more of a kind of cutterish slider, and then a true two-plane downer sort of curveball,
[SPEAKER_01]: Everything has power on it across is our sonal, both of his fast balls will touch a hundred miles or up as a starter.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think you look at this trade and you have to trust the brewers finishing school.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is one of the smarter organizations in baseball and they continually get pitchers to the major league level, figure out sort of
[SPEAKER_01]: how to ease them into a role, and then watch these guys take off.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I mean, we're a decade into them doing this now.
[SPEAKER_01]: They've produced Saigon award winners.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I think you look at Perralta.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sure they were sad to see the guy go.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think one of the reasons he was attractive and able to net two top 100 prospects
[SPEAKER_01]: a single year of control was because he's getting paid eight million dollars and you know I think for the mats potentially is a guy that they could extend before you know even before the season.
[SPEAKER_01]: So you know I think it's a good trade for both teams.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think it fits for both teams and I certainly think Sprot is a guy that we could look back on in a year and be like oh he's a number two or number three.
[SPEAKER_02]: So that's not the only significant pitching deal that we saw.
[SPEAKER_02]: We also saw the National Sin McKenzie Gore to the Rangers.
[SPEAKER_02]: Got a package of five prospects in return.
[SPEAKER_02]: No one who ranks in our top hundred, but Jeff, I thought you'd have a good point here to make, which is I always love to emphasize the fact that you get
[SPEAKER_02]: to 75, 80 on this list and the difference between that prospect and someone who's even 1-21-25 is much different than the difference between the prospect who's number 2 and the prospect who's number 10, even though there could be 50-spost different versus 8.
[SPEAKER_02]: Gavin Feene is kind of the key to this deal, isn't he in your mind?
[SPEAKER_02]: And we also, I would just kind of lay it out like how kind of different do different organizations value prospects kind of at that level of the rankings?
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and you know, we knew that the Red Sox amateur department was heavily connected to Gavin Fiend throughout the process last year, obviously didn't have an opportunity to draft him.
[SPEAKER_01]: But you know, it's not a shock that they went out and acquired this guy and that he was sort of a key piece of one of the major trades that they're going to make here with some of the veterans on the roster, CJ Abrams obviously.
[SPEAKER_01]: you know, to be determined.
[SPEAKER_01]: But you know, in the Gore trade, they get him back, they get a handful of other players back.
[SPEAKER_01]: But I, you know, I think if we talk to some folks in the, the, the national's front office, I haven't done this.
[SPEAKER_01]: But it wouldn't shock me if, you know, the question was posed as Gavin Feean at top and on a prospect, and they, in fact, like we said, yes.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, I think that's where a lot of these lists, there are always guys if you talk to folks throughout the game, if you went in and hacked into the 30 organizations personal top 100 type lists or prospect rankings or models that they keep track of prospects in.
[SPEAKER_01]: You would probably see a variety of opinions that might even span.
[SPEAKER_01]: 170 players or more.
[SPEAKER_01]: So I think it's something to keep in mind that, you know, not every or organization sees eye to eye on who the top 100 is.
[SPEAKER_02]: I will note of Stader Disclaimer here, please do not hack into any of all third-door decisions.
[SPEAKER_02]: We've seen someone do that, and many draft picks were penalized in return as the Cardinals know from years ago, but Ben, the other thing though about this is, is
[SPEAKER_02]: If the brewers met straight, obviously, Freddie Perlte has been a more accomplished pitcher so far, the McKinsey Corps, but there's also multiple years of control with McKinsey Corps versus one with Perlte.
[SPEAKER_02]: But this is seems like it's a quantity.
[SPEAKER_02]: You have two different ways you can do this, right?
[SPEAKER_02]: The national's approach here, prospects are a little further away in a couple of cases, but also more chances where the brewers went for
[SPEAKER_02]: kind of close to the big league and kind of, hey, we're going to we'd rather get a lead level or a little bit higher level prospects and get fewer of them.
[SPEAKER_02]: What do you kind of see the quantity versus quality argument when you're making a trade like this?
[SPEAKER_00]: I like this trade much better for the Rangers than I do for the Nationals.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think you've got to get better quality at the top than what the Nationals did.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think yeah, Gavin Feean first round pick.
[SPEAKER_00]: Not in our top 100.
[SPEAKER_00]: If you want to argue on being the top 100, the back of it.
[SPEAKER_00]: Fine, even then I think you got to get a little bit more to not get a guy, you know, I don't expect the Rangers to give up Sebastian Walcott in this deal, but, you know, somebody like Kate and Scarborough, so to get, you know,
[SPEAKER_00]: to have in Fitzgerald, nice player, but mostly he was in rookie ball last year as a 19, just about to turn 20 year old, Alejandro Rosario.
[SPEAKER_00]: As good as he looked before, he's going to miss two years now.
[SPEAKER_00]: So you're really banking on what you saw a couple of years ago now from him.
[SPEAKER_00]: So I just really would like to see the nationals get more.
[SPEAKER_00]: In that deal, but I really like it from the Rangers side because you're not giving up.
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think anybody who's going to be in a girl to your franchise future and you're getting a really good starter under multiple years of team control in return.
[SPEAKER_02]: a couple of fascinating trades, I'm sure we'll see some more moves as we get ready for spring training.
[SPEAKER_02]: We hope you've enjoyed another edition of the Baseball America Hot Sheet and we do want to remind you, please like and if you haven't subscribed, subscribe.
