<v Speaker 1>Wednesday, January twenty eight, twenty twenty six, you are listening
<v Speaker 1>to the Daily Dose Sports podcast and I am your host,
<v Speaker 1>Clinton Daily, coming to you from my high city here
<v Speaker 1>in Denver, Colorado, and we are back for another week
<v Speaker 1>of talking sports with a dose of common sense. Hey,
<v Speaker 1>Happy Wednesday to you. Hope you had a good weekend.
<v Speaker 1>Hope that your week is going well and that you,
<v Speaker 1>your family, your friends, everyone in your world is staying
<v Speaker 1>strong and healthy right now. And yes, kids, super Bowl
<v Speaker 1>sixty is set. That's right, the Super Bowl that no
<v Speaker 1>one really wanted is now locked in as the New
<v Speaker 1>England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks will meet up in
<v Speaker 1>Santa Clara on February eighth to play a game between
<v Speaker 1>two teams. I might add that did meet once before,
<v Speaker 1>back in twenty fourteen in Super Bowl forty nine. And
<v Speaker 1>in that game, those two teams made every single person
<v Speaker 1>outside of the Greater Boston area just nauseous as our
<v Speaker 1>old buddy Pete Carroll crew to be the dumbest man
<v Speaker 1>in the world. But now we get a whole nualistic
<v Speaker 1>characters in this game coming up. So, first off, in
<v Speaker 1>that AFC Championship game, New England Patriots quarterback Drake May
<v Speaker 1>outdueled Jarrett Stidham and the Denver Broncos. And when I
<v Speaker 1>say outdueled, I mean that he went ten of twenty
<v Speaker 1>one for eighty six yards in a game that kind
<v Speaker 1>of set offensive football back to an era of like
<v Speaker 1>little white guys wearing leather helmets. The Patriots beat my
<v Speaker 1>Denver Broncos ten to seven in the snow in a
<v Speaker 1>game that left a number of Bronco fans angry at
<v Speaker 1>head coach Sean Payton because they kept telling themselves that
<v Speaker 1>if he had kicked a field goal in the first half,
<v Speaker 1>then the Broncos would have definitely one. They apparently do
<v Speaker 1>not realize that they still would have had to score
<v Speaker 1>some more points because New England also scored ten, and
<v Speaker 1>I think Jared Didham could have had another, I don't know,
<v Speaker 1>seventy five more drives and he couldn't have generated any
<v Speaker 1>more points on Sunday. So ease up on Sean Payton.
<v Speaker 1>Remember this Broncos country, you could still have Nathaniel Hackett.
<v Speaker 1>And I guarantee Nathaniel Hackett would have kicked it on
<v Speaker 1>Sunday because remembered he could get from Mike seventy yards
<v Speaker 1>away with the game on the line, so that wouldn't
<v Speaker 1>have been a problem.
<v Speaker 2>But be careful what you wish for.
<v Speaker 1>Meanwhile, Hey, the Patriots have beaten some pretty good defenses,
<v Speaker 1>but please be aware of who they have beaten to
<v Speaker 1>get to the Super Bowl. Because the New England Patriots
<v Speaker 1>have beaten the Los Angeles Chargers with a complete backup
<v Speaker 1>offensive line. They beat the Houston Texans with Coleridge Bernard
<v Speaker 1>Stroud at quarterback. I'm no longer calling him CJ on
<v Speaker 1>this show until he can prove he deserves that nickname.
<v Speaker 1>He will now be called his given name, Coleridge Bernard.
<v Speaker 1>His mama named Cleve, Almahault and Clee. So they beat
<v Speaker 1>Coleridge Bernard and then they beat Jarrett Stadham in the snow.
<v Speaker 1>I mean, just being objective, this might be the softest
<v Speaker 1>path to the Super Bowl ever. I don't meant recently,
<v Speaker 1>I mean ever, like going back to win. There were
<v Speaker 1>only like four teams getting into the playoffs. This has
<v Speaker 1>been a soft path for the New England Patrios. Next
<v Speaker 1>up over in the NFC, we had the Seattle Seahawks
<v Speaker 1>and quarterback Sam Donald actually did outduel Matt Stafford and
<v Speaker 1>the Los Angeles Rams. In that NFC title game, Donald
<v Speaker 1>threw for three hundred and forty six yards and three
<v Speaker 1>touchdowns and Stafford threw for three hundred and seventy four
<v Speaker 1>yards in three touchdowns. And this NFC Title game, honestly,
<v Speaker 1>it was like watching I don't know, say the French
<v Speaker 1>Open after watching the AFC game felt like it was
<v Speaker 1>watching like pickle ball at the local retirement home by
<v Speaker 1>a few players that honestly desperately needed to change their pants,
<v Speaker 1>if you know what I mean. By the way, based
<v Speaker 1>on what New England has done so far, I am
<v Speaker 1>fully expecting some news to come out at any moment
<v Speaker 1>that Sam Darnald has like I don't know, poked his
<v Speaker 1>own eye out trying to trim that red mustache of
<v Speaker 1>his or something over the next few days, and then
<v Speaker 1>the Pats will get a face his backup, Drew Lock
<v Speaker 1>because that is exactly the type of year it has
<v Speaker 1>been for the Patriots. Also, what if I had told
<v Speaker 1>you that Sam Darnald would make it to a Super
<v Speaker 1>Bowl before any other quarterback from that twenty eighteen NFL draft,
<v Speaker 1>Remember that draft, Baker Mayfield, Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, Sam
<v Speaker 1>Donald got to the Super Bowl before any of them.
<v Speaker 1>So are we excited for the Super Bowl?
<v Speaker 2>Once?
<v Speaker 3>I'm excited. I'm looking forward to it. My mother has
<v Speaker 3>said to me once a week, Larry, why can't you
<v Speaker 3>get excited about something?
<v Speaker 1>You never excited?
<v Speaker 3>Nothing excites you.
<v Speaker 1>I don't know if I'm excited or if we're being
<v Speaker 1>completely honest. Are we just happy that the Kansas City
<v Speaker 1>Chiefs aren't in it?
<v Speaker 2>Now?
<v Speaker 1>We will see how football fans kind of cheer, But
<v Speaker 1>I feel like most everyone is going to be cheering
<v Speaker 1>for the Seahawks except for Gino Smith and Pete Carroll obviously,
<v Speaker 1>And then the only people truly cheering for the Patriots
<v Speaker 1>will be obviously those obnoxious Boston people. Oh and also
<v Speaker 1>some of those Chiefs fans that are right now as
<v Speaker 1>we speak, pulling out that old Patriot fan gear that
<v Speaker 1>they had tucked away for the past three or four years.
<v Speaker 1>I don't know who to cheer for. Is there any
<v Speaker 1>way both teams can lose that I would be up for?
<v Speaker 1>Of course, Here at the Dose never fear. We will
<v Speaker 1>get you ready for this big game. Like no one
<v Speaker 1>else can trust me on that. I'll get to more
<v Speaker 1>on that in just a few minutes. But first today
<v Speaker 1>on the Dose, I've got something completely different for you.
<v Speaker 1>I told you about this last week. I was telling
<v Speaker 1>you you better tune in. I have a guest that
<v Speaker 1>has an absolutely amazing story. I really think you would
<v Speaker 1>benefit from hearing it. In fact, we have so much
<v Speaker 1>to get today, we need to jump into that right now.
<v Speaker 1>Joining us this week on the Daily Dos, I have
<v Speaker 1>a young man that I honestly I can't wait to
<v Speaker 1>talk to you because this guy is a story and
<v Speaker 1>I think it's a story that needs to be told.
<v Speaker 1>You may have seen him a few weeks ago in
<v Speaker 1>the broadcast booth has the Colorado Avalanche faced the New
<v Speaker 1>York Islanders. But I'm telling you this kid has an
<v Speaker 1>amazing story. You need to hear it. Please join me
<v Speaker 1>in welcoming Jackson Stroud to the Daily Dos. Jackson, Welcome
<v Speaker 1>to the Dose. We are so happy to have you
<v Speaker 1>here this week.
<v Speaker 2>How are you doing, brother?
<v Speaker 1>We're doing great, and I'm really really glad that you
<v Speaker 1>joined us. Jackson. You've got a unique story, and I
<v Speaker 1>know that it's not a story that you're always happy
<v Speaker 1>to tell, but I'm really glad that you joined us
<v Speaker 1>because it's a story that I think so many people
<v Speaker 1>need to hear. First and foremost, Jackson, where'd you grow up?
<v Speaker 1>Where you from?
<v Speaker 2>Bornham raised? Or Vada, Colorado?
<v Speaker 1>Okay, okay, I know I know our Vada. You're in
<v Speaker 1>that little landlocked area up up in Metro Denver area,
<v Speaker 1>up against those mountains a little bit, Jackson. Were you
<v Speaker 1>an athlete growing up?
<v Speaker 2>Yeah?
<v Speaker 4>Every just played about every sport, did you really? Football, baseball, hockey,
<v Speaker 4>just whatever My parents needed me away from from the house. Sure,
<v Speaker 4>just threw me in, told me to learn how to
<v Speaker 4>play it. But hockey was the one that I fell
<v Speaker 4>in love with. Hockey was the sport Jackson. You're a
<v Speaker 4>big guy.
<v Speaker 2>Oh yeah, How tall are you? Six'? Five IF i
<v Speaker 2>stand up with a posture six?
<v Speaker 1>Five and playing? Hockey? Yeah what position are you? Playing
<v Speaker 1>where are you? Playing as you're growing? Up are you
<v Speaker 1>kind of learning different positions or are you kind of
<v Speaker 1>settling into? One what are you? Doing?
<v Speaker 4>So started WHEN i was nine and you, know wanted to,
<v Speaker 4>score wanted to one of the big flashy.
<v Speaker 2>Goals started on.
<v Speaker 4>Offense we actually had a defenseman get hurt WHEN i
<v Speaker 4>was nine years old and coach was, like all, right
<v Speaker 4>you got, it you, know got a fill, in gotta
<v Speaker 4>take one for the, team and realized THAT i was
<v Speaker 4>pretty good at, it and it stuck me there for
<v Speaker 4>the rest of the. Year and THEN i actually fell
<v Speaker 4>in love with the spot left defenseman AND.
<v Speaker 2>I was, alrighty so it was. Perfect, Okay, yeah.
<v Speaker 1>So you stuck with defense once you went over to that.
<v Speaker 1>Side that's where you were.
<v Speaker 2>At, yep.
<v Speaker 1>Yep were you a Big were you big as a
<v Speaker 1>little kid or did you grow later like we as a?
<v Speaker 4>Teenager, NO i was always in the ninety nine. Percent oh, Real,
<v Speaker 4>YEAH i was always pretty. BIG i hit six foot
<v Speaker 4>in seventh, grade oh. Wow and, YEAH i always, had you,
<v Speaker 4>know a real long, reach and coaches always asked, me you,
<v Speaker 4>know got the typical.
<v Speaker 2>Hey do you play? Basketball?
<v Speaker 1>Sure?
<v Speaker 2>Nah it was always.
<v Speaker 1>Hockey it was always.
<v Speaker 2>Hockey.
<v Speaker 1>OKAY i gotta ask, this favorite teams growing? Up who
<v Speaker 1>are the teams that you looked, At who are the
<v Speaker 1>teams that you, watched and who are the athletes that
<v Speaker 1>you kind of modeled your game.
<v Speaker 2>After so OBVIOUSLY i gotta stick with the Diehard avalanche.
<v Speaker 2>Fan thank you for.
<v Speaker 4>SURE i appreciate that growing, UP i actually was the
<v Speaker 4>biggest fan Of Nicholas cronwell on The Red, Wings, okay
<v Speaker 4>WHICH i know is pretty it's. Rival yeah, yeah it's
<v Speaker 4>a little frowned, upon but uh, yeah He's he's kind
<v Speaker 4>of the one you know before a, game if you
<v Speaker 4>wanted some, motivation you always watched his big, hit his.
<v Speaker 2>Highlight, reels and, uh you, know he wasn't much of
<v Speaker 2>a score.
<v Speaker 4>More it's a, scrapper but, yeah, yeah, NO i based
<v Speaker 4>my skating style off of him and his crossover techniques
<v Speaker 4>and skating backwards actually helped me a lot learn how
<v Speaker 4>to skate. Backwards and there's, him there's, uh you, know
<v Speaker 4>not a lot of not a lot of defenceman. REALLY
<v Speaker 4>i feel, like you, know if you play, defense you
<v Speaker 4>obviously look at defenseman on the defensive, Aspect but if
<v Speaker 4>you want to learn how to, skate you always pick
<v Speaker 4>out the fastest.
<v Speaker 2>Pushers.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah so, yeah that makes a lot of. Them you,
<v Speaker 4>know you learn that they're not they're not real choppy.
<v Speaker 4>Skaters it's all about long strides and figuring out how
<v Speaker 4>to use your knees. Properly but you don't really base
<v Speaker 4>your your playing style so much off of singular. Players
<v Speaker 4>you kind of pick your favorite, players find little things
<v Speaker 4>that they do and add them to your skill.
<v Speaker 1>Set BUT i like, that, yeah BECAUSE i know as
<v Speaker 1>a basketball, player you did the same. Thing you're, Like,
<v Speaker 1>OH i like kind of the way he passes the.
<v Speaker 1>BALL i like kind of the way he shoots the.
<v Speaker 1>Ball but you take a little a little bit from different.
<v Speaker 1>Guys you began playing high school eventually at the high.
<v Speaker 2>School, level, yep, yeah For Rossa, Valley.
<v Speaker 1>Jackson i'm seeing some. Evidence AND i know, you, SO
<v Speaker 1>i know you might not want to agree With. Jackson
<v Speaker 1>i'm seeing some evidence you were pretty.
<v Speaker 2>Good.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, yeah traveled To minnesota for a little, bit and
<v Speaker 4>there's some camps up, there set some records as a
<v Speaker 4>fourteen year old and a sixteen you camp and, yeah you,
<v Speaker 4>know made my name loud them proud up.
<v Speaker 2>There.
<v Speaker 1>Jackson you're a big. Kid you're a fast. Skater you're
<v Speaker 1>a fast backwards. SKATER i gotta think like you're generating some.
<v Speaker 1>Interest forget the high school, Level like at the collegiate,
<v Speaker 1>level there's gotta be some some schools that are kind of,
<v Speaker 1>going this young guy can.
<v Speaker 2>Play yeah, yeah uh freshman.
<v Speaker 4>Year, actually our first game was Against Valor christian and
<v Speaker 4>after the, game me and my defensive, partner we were
<v Speaker 4>in the hallway and The Valor christian head coach came.
<v Speaker 2>Up it was, like hey, man great.
<v Speaker 4>Game if you guys are ever you know out and
<v Speaker 4>about during these certain, camps won't name.
<v Speaker 2>Him he was, like you, know stop by say. Hi of,
<v Speaker 2>course all, right.
<v Speaker 4>You, know it was definitely a. Hit he kind of
<v Speaker 4>wanted us on the. TEAM i can't, winn but, yeah
<v Speaker 4>you KNOW i. HAD i talked to Some Notre dame,
<v Speaker 4>SCOUTS i talked to H i talked to A du
<v Speaker 4>head coach at the, time and, yeah you, know you
<v Speaker 4>meet some some big, names but, yeah the biggest one
<v Speaker 4>Was Notre dame had a pretty good ask.
<v Speaker 2>There he wanted me to come to. Her the.
<v Speaker 1>School, well and you're not talking about small, Time you're
<v Speaker 1>not talking about, well here's a here's A d three
<v Speaker 1>school From. Connecticut you're talking about like a really really
<v Speaker 1>good hockey, programmer really really good, school really good. Academic,
<v Speaker 1>jackson you're pretty dang good at a really young. Age
<v Speaker 1>and what year are you in when you suffer pretty serious?
<v Speaker 1>Injury what? Happens walk me through?
<v Speaker 4>That so sophomore year of high. SCHOOL i was fourteen turning. Fifteen,
<v Speaker 4>Okay january, seventh remember the, date twenty. NINETEEN i got
<v Speaker 4>hit into the, boards AND i remember feeling a very
<v Speaker 4>sharp pain in my.
<v Speaker 2>Back legs went. NUMB i was on the ground and
<v Speaker 2>managed to push myself back to the.
<v Speaker 1>Bench the you went back to the, Bench you didn't stay.
<v Speaker 1>Down no hockey players are. Psychos, okay, Continue.
<v Speaker 4>So where the the boards kind of, Lip, yeah where
<v Speaker 4>the glass meets that's right up my. Hips and so
<v Speaker 4>WHEN i hit, that what it felt like is, that you,
<v Speaker 4>know your hips stay in, place but your spine just
<v Speaker 4>shifts over and so then sharp pain goes, down kind
<v Speaker 4>of feel off. CENTER i was losing feeling in my
<v Speaker 4>feet and like a little bit of my lower legs
<v Speaker 4>and was able to push myself back to the bench
<v Speaker 4>and looked at my coach and was just, like hey,
<v Speaker 4>man you know something's not.
<v Speaker 2>Right, yeah and, uh you know the typical coach. Question he's, like,
<v Speaker 2>well you, know how are you? Feeling you want to
<v Speaker 2>you want to wait it? Out you think you could? Play?
<v Speaker 2>SURE i just looked at it SAID i. CAN'T i can't.
<v Speaker 4>Play and, eventually you, know you you kind of go
<v Speaker 4>home and you got that mindset of, like, okay just you,
<v Speaker 4>know another. Injury yeah, right you, Know i'm gonna see
<v Speaker 4>how it. Feels next, day the pain started radiating towards my,
<v Speaker 4>hip the lower right side of my, hip and, eventually you,
<v Speaker 4>know just weeks went, by and uh chiropractors and acupuncture
<v Speaker 4>and needles and like, whatnot just trying anything to make
<v Speaker 4>this pain go, away but it's just getting. Worse eventually
<v Speaker 4>went to the hospital because you, know obviously there's some warriors,
<v Speaker 4>there and they said THAT i had what looks like
<v Speaker 4>stress fractures in my three of my.
<v Speaker 2>Vertebrates it was THE t, TWELVE t, ELEVEN t.
<v Speaker 4>Ten and you, know you're kind of sitting there and
<v Speaker 4>the doctor's explaining it to, you and he's, like from
<v Speaker 4>what it sounded, like from what they were talking, about.
<v Speaker 2>It's just from you growing so.
<v Speaker 4>Fast, Okay but this was two months after the, hit
<v Speaker 4>AND i, thought, maybe you, know like it could have
<v Speaker 4>been from the hit or.
<v Speaker 2>Whatnot AND i fully believe that it was from the.
<v Speaker 1>Hit, sure but.
<v Speaker 2>You, know they tell you take four to six weeks,
<v Speaker 2>off and OBVIOUSLY i didn't.
<v Speaker 1>Sore are you like still go to? School are? You
<v Speaker 1>are you involved still with a team or are you totally.
<v Speaker 4>Out i'm totally. Out it's kind of hard for me
<v Speaker 4>to be by the. Rink, sure, yeah.
<v Speaker 2>You, know once it's a game that you you, know
<v Speaker 2>it's your first. Love yeah with.
<v Speaker 4>Sports you, know sports can be romantic to some, people
<v Speaker 4>and you know it's what you want to do and
<v Speaker 4>get up every and do every. Day and yeah for
<v Speaker 4>me for the longest, time like just driving past my home,
<v Speaker 4>rink like you, know you get you get choked. Up but,
<v Speaker 4>uh you, know so the doctor tells, you like if
<v Speaker 4>the pain doesn't get, better obviously come. Back so pain's
<v Speaker 4>not getting any. Better REMEMBER i was at the store
<v Speaker 4>with my mom and took a step kind of weird
<v Speaker 4>and same. Pain that's WHEN i got, hit you, know
<v Speaker 4>sharp pain down the. Leg, okay vico Numb and so
<v Speaker 4>we go to the hospital and get AN mri. Done
<v Speaker 4>guy walks in and doesn't say anything, much just, hey
<v Speaker 4>you need to go to the main campus get some blood,
<v Speaker 4>drawn and you, know heart. Drops you're, like he's not
<v Speaker 4>telling us what he, sees what's, Wrong so you're thinking
<v Speaker 4>worse the. Worst went to the, hospital got emitted and
<v Speaker 4>they do a biopsy and there was a mass on
<v Speaker 4>MY t twelve. Vertebrae so the best WAY i can
<v Speaker 4>describe it is if you get your hand and if
<v Speaker 4>you put your forearm in the, middle if your forearms
<v Speaker 4>a spinal, cord, okay your your hands that. Vertebrae, okay
<v Speaker 4>the tumor was on the inside of the, vertebrae pushing
<v Speaker 4>on that spinal. Cord and you, know so they get the,
<v Speaker 4>biopsy come back about a couple days, later two days,
<v Speaker 4>later and you, know someone sits down with you and it's, like,
<v Speaker 4>hey you have you in.
<v Speaker 2>Sarcoma it's a bone in tissue. Cancer.
<v Speaker 1>Wow.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah so later found out that you, know IF, i
<v Speaker 4>IF i didn't have stress fractures or if that that
<v Speaker 4>shift in my spine didn't happen like, there there could
<v Speaker 4>have been a possibility that you, know it was never.
<v Speaker 4>Found and so it's blessing in disguise for. Sure, Sure
<v Speaker 4>but immediately you, know they say we have a. Plan you,
<v Speaker 4>know they ease your head and we have a. Plan
<v Speaker 4>this is what we, do this is our. PROTOCOL i
<v Speaker 4>went through seven months of inpatient, chemotherapy AND i had
<v Speaker 4>twenty five radiation, therapies and THEN i went through ten
<v Speaker 4>months of remission and it came back in the same.
<v Speaker 4>Area had started having that same. Pain AND i was
<v Speaker 4>actually on a camping trip AND i remember waking up
<v Speaker 4>one morning and rolling over and feeling AND i just
<v Speaker 4>kind of looked at my, friends, like, hey we got you,
<v Speaker 4>know got to go, home and LIKE i just don't
<v Speaker 4>want to be up here. Anymore AND i think they
<v Speaker 4>kind of. Knew but we get, back they do ANOTHER.
<v Speaker 4>Mri looks like it was coming back in the same.
<v Speaker 4>Spot and you, know at that, Point i'm seventeen years, old,
<v Speaker 4>okay and you and sarcoma is a pretty pretty aggressive
<v Speaker 4>cancer to say the. Least and at seventeen years, old
<v Speaker 4>you know that it's not about, hey what do you
<v Speaker 4>want to, Do, it's, uh this is what we're gonna. Do,
<v Speaker 4>yeah and you, know go through with. Surgery they took
<v Speaker 4>MY t twelve vertebrate out with the.
<v Speaker 2>Tumor. Okay they put a cage with bone.
<v Speaker 4>Graft from my hips and four, rods eighteen screws and,
<v Speaker 4>yeah that was that was the. Replacement went through nineteen
<v Speaker 4>days of sitting in the, hospital got spinal men and.
<v Speaker 4>Ingitis you, KNOW i had one hundred and four degree
<v Speaker 4>fever for eight days and uh induced. Coma woke up and,
<v Speaker 4>uh you, KNOW i was, like you, know when they
<v Speaker 4>tell you before, surgery, hey you're gonna have the, surgery
<v Speaker 4>you're gonna walk in the first twenty four hours after,
<v Speaker 4>surgery and so they're, like you're you, know your back's
<v Speaker 4>gonna be.
<v Speaker 2>Sore SO i wake up and my whole body, sore
<v Speaker 2>And i'm, like, hey, guys like, LIKE i was just
<v Speaker 2>told my back's gonna be, sorry, Right AND i was,
<v Speaker 2>like why DO i feel LIKE i haven't moved in? Forever,
<v Speaker 2>Yeah they're, like, well you, know surgery was a week.
<v Speaker 2>AGO i had no. CLUE i was delirious the whole.
<v Speaker 1>Time oh my.
<v Speaker 2>Goodness, yeah public or public uh medically induced. Coma and you,
<v Speaker 2>know once you wake up and just the realization starts,
<v Speaker 2>settling and it's, like all, right gotta you, know gotta,
<v Speaker 2>Go we gotta do, This gotta stand up and get.
<v Speaker 1>Recovering so when when you're going through all these, things
<v Speaker 1>are you still in? SCHOOL i mean you're you're a
<v Speaker 1>high school. Kid are you still in? School what are you?
<v Speaker 1>Doing what do you doing as far as, school what
<v Speaker 1>are you doing as far as? Interacting with with. Classmates
<v Speaker 1>are you doing any of that or are you just
<v Speaker 1>in the.
<v Speaker 4>Hospital so INITIALLY i, WELL covid actually it was happened
<v Speaker 4>at the same, time so everyone was kind of moving
<v Speaker 4>to online. School, Okay so INITIALLY i was doing online,
<v Speaker 4>school and my school thankfully was, like, hey you, know
<v Speaker 4>tune in when you, Can like we're gonna work with,
<v Speaker 4>you like we you, know we don't understand what you're going,
<v Speaker 4>through but like we're.
<v Speaker 2>Gonna try our best to help. You.
<v Speaker 4>Okay so eventually they told, me you, know, hey we're
<v Speaker 4>GONNA i actually got passed my soft or junior. Year
<v Speaker 4>they they eventually were just, like you, know focus on your. Health,
<v Speaker 4>well so my transcript just has A.
<v Speaker 2>P MY gpa IS p for. PAST i DON'T i
<v Speaker 2>don't have. It you don't have. It at, yeah, na
<v Speaker 2>it still made it to. College so.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah but, yeah you, know and you have your your
<v Speaker 4>close knit group of, friends the people that genuinely. Care you,
<v Speaker 4>know you get a lot of people who are, like you,
<v Speaker 4>know if you need, anything let me. Know, sure but
<v Speaker 4>you text and you don't hear, anything of. Course but,
<v Speaker 4>YEAH i had my you, know my five friends WHO
<v Speaker 4>i could really count on and you know every day
<v Speaker 4>they're just Hay, man you need, Anything, yeah like a
<v Speaker 4>genuine Hay, man you need. Anything AND i knew that
<v Speaker 4>IF i was, like you, KNOW i could ask them
<v Speaker 4>the craziest of, asks, yeah and they'd be there and
<v Speaker 4>they still do.
<v Speaker 2>It, yeah, yeah.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah so how did your high school career en? Up
<v Speaker 1>what did You what did you end up? Doing you
<v Speaker 1>ended up finishing it from the. Hospital were you able

<v Speaker 1>a few setback since, then you've had a couple things
<v Speaker 1>go on with your, back since you've had these, surgeries
<v Speaker 1>since you've had things. Removed what, exactly well maybe not,
<v Speaker 1>exactly but what happened? There what what went on there
<v Speaker 1>with with your?
<v Speaker 4>Rack, yeah you, know obviously not the brag or, anything
<v Speaker 4>but big guy with that taking YOUR t twelve that's
<v Speaker 4>right in the middle of your. Spine so those are
<v Speaker 4>some of your biggest, vertebrates, vertebras, VERTEBRAS.
<v Speaker 2>I don't know the big doctor terms big.
<v Speaker 4>Bone when they take that out and they put your cage,
<v Speaker 4>inside you, know the spine above and the spine below the.
<v Speaker 4>Cage obviously there's room for putting the screws into the
<v Speaker 4>bone right and offering like. Stability there's no stability where
<v Speaker 4>the cage is, at, obviously because they can't drill into
<v Speaker 4>the cage with the.
<v Speaker 2>Screws so there's about three.
<v Speaker 4>To four inches of titanium That the best way my
<v Speaker 4>doctor described it is like if you get a paper
<v Speaker 4>clip and you just you, know keep, bending younding and,
<v Speaker 4>bending and eventually it's going to. Break, sure and you would, think,
<v Speaker 4>like you, know quarter inch titanium that shouldn't. Break but
<v Speaker 4>had some micro, movements and you, know micro movements over
<v Speaker 4>a year and a, half that's a lot of. Moving
<v Speaker 4>AND i was actually out of the state and felt
<v Speaker 4>a big pop and was rolling out of bed and kind,
<v Speaker 4>of you, know you kind of it's. Foreign you don't
<v Speaker 4>really know what. Happened and EVENTUALLY i stood up and
<v Speaker 4>sharp lay or sharp pain goes down the, lake, sure
<v Speaker 4>and mine goes to.
<v Speaker 2>Worse it's, like oh, no it's.
<v Speaker 4>Back yeah, no but thankfully luckily called my doctor and
<v Speaker 4>the pop was a very reassuring thing for my. Oncologies he's, like,
<v Speaker 4>obviously you, know tumors don't, pop. Right SO i fly,
<v Speaker 4>BACK i get off the, plane goes straight to the
<v Speaker 4>hospital and you, know they do AN x ray how
<v Speaker 4>to rod broke and, okay kind of looks like a
<v Speaker 4>collarbone when that mountain break happens and it's overlapping each. Other,
<v Speaker 4>yeah and so they do. That you, know they look at, You,
<v Speaker 4>hey you gotta have, Surgery like you can't just be
<v Speaker 4>walking around with. Us and so next couple of weeks go,
<v Speaker 4>By i'm doing. Cts, hey you got two rods. Broke,
<v Speaker 4>actually LIKE x ray, Shows oh, WOW x ray showed
<v Speaker 4>a clean. Break, obviously it's pretty obvious that it's overlapping each.
<v Speaker 2>Other shouldn't be doing.
<v Speaker 4>That THE ct looked like a like a hairline. Fracture,
<v Speaker 4>okay so it was, broke but you know it didn't.
<v Speaker 4>Shift it was still standing on top of each. OTHER
<v Speaker 4>i go in for my surgery AND i guess my
<v Speaker 4>surgeon came out to the waiting room talk to my
<v Speaker 4>parents and, go, hey you, know surgery's going. Great about halfway,
<v Speaker 4>through we're putting in those new. Rods we do just
<v Speaker 4>want to let you know we saw the broken, ones
<v Speaker 4>like the two on. Top we go to take the
<v Speaker 4>third one out just falls apart in my.
<v Speaker 2>Spots oh my.
<v Speaker 4>Goodness yeah, yeah, yeah it just just not in like
<v Speaker 4>pieces or. Anything but you, know they go to grab
<v Speaker 4>it and only the like bottom half came.
<v Speaker 2>Up so three out of my four rods were. BROKE
<v Speaker 2>i was just walking on one, rod which.
<v Speaker 1>Is Holy, god that's.
<v Speaker 2>Insane. Yeah and then a year and a half, later
<v Speaker 2>same thing.
<v Speaker 1>Happened so it's happened.
<v Speaker 2>Twice. Yep.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah first TIME i was rolling out of. Bed second
<v Speaker 4>TIME i was rolling into bed and felt the same.
<v Speaker 4>Pop the second, TIME i was pretty mellow about, it.
<v Speaker 2>You, know BECAUSE i kind of know what. Happened AND
<v Speaker 2>i just remember calling my mom upstairs.
<v Speaker 4>And, hey, UH i THINK i broke a rod, again
<v Speaker 4>and she was like. WHAT i was, like, YEAH i
<v Speaker 4>think we need to go to the. Hospital sure, enough you,
<v Speaker 4>know go get THE x rayed in the same, thing
<v Speaker 4>and same thing three rods.
<v Speaker 1>Broke how much of a of a recovery is it
<v Speaker 1>when they go in there and then fix all that, Though.
<v Speaker 4>So you, know obviously the first one's the. Hardest you
<v Speaker 4>don't know what to. EXPECT i was in the hospital
<v Speaker 4>for nineteen. Days, obviously should have been. Shorter they actually
<v Speaker 4>told me into twelve, days but should have been way.
<v Speaker 4>Shorter but you, know with the spinal meningitis and the
<v Speaker 4>infection and whatnot and relearning how to walk obviously took.
<v Speaker 4>Longer the second TIME i got rods put, IN i
<v Speaker 4>was out of the hospital in three.
<v Speaker 2>Days oh.
<v Speaker 1>Wow.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah the hardest part really was getting used to the you,
<v Speaker 4>know when they cut through the same, spot there's a
<v Speaker 4>lot of like.
<v Speaker 2>Scar, tissues and, yeah that's that's kind of weird to
<v Speaker 2>get used.
<v Speaker 1>To i'm sure that it. Is so now do you
<v Speaker 1>have to go, in do you have to be? Retested
<v Speaker 1>do you have to be? Rechecked? What what is the
<v Speaker 1>situation now as far as everything back? There are are
<v Speaker 1>you having to go in and be retested? Consistently so
<v Speaker 1>for the tumor the first five. Years the first year
<v Speaker 1>it's every three, months second year it's every four, months third,
<v Speaker 1>year every four, months and then the fourth and fifth.
<v Speaker 1>Year it's every six, months AND i actually just hit
<v Speaker 1>three and a half, years and so my next appointment
<v Speaker 1>will be four, years which is here In. March so
<v Speaker 1>it's coming up pretty. Quick, okay you know it takes,
<v Speaker 1>forever but then you get to that date and you're, like, oh,
<v Speaker 1>man it's already been four. Years, yeah but then after
<v Speaker 1>that five year, mark you're kind, of you, know in their,
<v Speaker 1>words in the.
<v Speaker 2>Clear but really the.
<v Speaker 4>Main thing That i'm worrying about is just these rods
<v Speaker 4>breaking man, like, well, sure, Yeah but the oncology team
<v Speaker 4>At children's In, Aurora. Colorado you, KNOW i can't be
<v Speaker 4>happier with my. Team you, know they have treated me so,
<v Speaker 4>well and any doubts THAT i have or any questions
<v Speaker 4>THAT i, have you, know there's always reassurance and always
<v Speaker 4>you hear all these horror stories about being in the
<v Speaker 4>hospital and being treated.
<v Speaker 2>Badly like you, KNOW i can't give enough. Praise that's
<v Speaker 2>a great.
<v Speaker 4>Team but for the for the raw, ASPECT i get
<v Speaker 4>checked every six, MONTHS i get you, KNOW i go
<v Speaker 4>in there for more a physical evaluation because they don't
<v Speaker 4>want to give you too MANY x, rays too many
<v Speaker 4>MRIs and, whatnot because the Radiation.
<v Speaker 2>I've already had.
<v Speaker 4>Enough so then you, know they'll feel check and make
<v Speaker 4>sure that what they're feeling is, okay and then if
<v Speaker 4>they feel it, necessary they'll.
<v Speaker 2>Give me AN x.
<v Speaker 4>Ray but, yeah my last appointment was about a month,
<v Speaker 4>ago and everything seems to be going. Good BECAUSE i
<v Speaker 4>forgot to mention. It but these last two, surgeries they
<v Speaker 4>actually moved my bottom, ribs so they're they're connected to
<v Speaker 4>The they fused them to the top of my spine
<v Speaker 4>and the bottom of my spine with they they took
<v Speaker 4>the ribs that still have vascularity in, Them, okay so
<v Speaker 4>they're still being fed. Blood, sure and those are kind
<v Speaker 4>OF i kind of have like three spines per.
<v Speaker 2>Se you're kind of, bionic, yeah man and human. TERMINATOR
<v Speaker 2>i guess you totally. Are.
<v Speaker 1>Jackson LIKE i said at the top of the, show
<v Speaker 1>you were early this year invited down to be involved
<v Speaker 1>with The Colorado, avalanche, who like you, said is your favorite.
<v Speaker 1>Team this is back In november in THE Abs Hockey
<v Speaker 1>Fight Cancer. Night, yeah you initially didn't want to be
<v Speaker 1>involved with. IT i talked to, you you AND i
<v Speaker 1>had a. Conversation why didn't you want to be involved in.
<v Speaker 2>IT i don't want WHAT i went through to be
<v Speaker 2>how people view me as. Sure you, know OBVIOUSLY i
<v Speaker 2>can't avoid. It it's a big part of my.
<v Speaker 4>Life, yeah you, know when people meet, ME i don't
<v Speaker 4>want them to think, like, ah that's the kid that
<v Speaker 4>went THROUGH, X y AND.
<v Speaker 1>Z don't want to be the different, kid the kid
<v Speaker 1>that stands.
<v Speaker 2>Out of, course you obviously want to stand out for different. Reasons. Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>yeah not because of what you went, through.
<v Speaker 4>Yea but, yeah you mentioned that we had a, conversation
<v Speaker 4>and actually you helped me. Realize you, know you, know
<v Speaker 4>some people need to hear the, story and some people
<v Speaker 4>need to know that you, know.
<v Speaker 2>Stuff. Happens, no you're, right and you're. Right you can
<v Speaker 2>get through, it.
<v Speaker 1>And you can get Through AND i think that was
<v Speaker 1>the big. Part and you AND, i you, know you mentioned,
<v Speaker 1>that you, KNOW i had that. CONVERSATION i was, Like,
<v Speaker 1>JACKSON i totally get. It but, man your, story, dude
<v Speaker 1>there is a kid out there where right now going
<v Speaker 1>through the same thing GOING i don't have a. Shot
<v Speaker 1>oh wait he did. It oh, yeah MAYBE i can do. This, Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>okay you ended up being, Involved you ended up going
<v Speaker 1>down being involved with The. Avalanche i'm a huge ass,
<v Speaker 1>fan you're a huge azz. Fan tell me about the.
<v Speaker 1>Experience what was it, like who did you? Meet how
<v Speaker 1>are the? PLAYERS i gotta hear.
<v Speaker 4>It, well you, know first you walk in and the
<v Speaker 4>arena is. Empty so it's ten in the. Morning we
<v Speaker 4>got invited to morning. Skate arena is, empty and all
<v Speaker 4>you hear, is you, know pucks banging against the, boards
<v Speaker 4>hucks hitting the, pipe and coaches yelling at the players
<v Speaker 4>and the players yelling at the pla and, like you,
<v Speaker 4>know WHEN i played, hockey you, know that's that's. Normal
<v Speaker 4>but when they play hockey like that's their. Life oh,
<v Speaker 4>yeah and it's just it's so cool seeing people so
<v Speaker 4>into what they do and loving the. Sport and you
<v Speaker 4>know that's HOW i felt WHEN i. Played, sure you,
<v Speaker 4>know that's this is the level THAT i wanted to play.
<v Speaker 4>At and, like you, know you kind of feel at,
<v Speaker 4>home like you're.
<v Speaker 1>Just right your back in that you're back in the
<v Speaker 1>in your in your comfort. Zone yeah, yeah.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah so you, know we Watched Morning Skate and what's
<v Speaker 4>funny is THAT i didn't take. VIDEOS i took a
<v Speaker 4>voice memos just BECAUSE.
<v Speaker 2>I i can't remember the last time THAT i just
<v Speaker 2>got to hear, practice like it was great and especially
<v Speaker 2>you know how many people get to go watch a
<v Speaker 2>pro morning.
<v Speaker 4>Skate, sure, yeah so we watched morning skate and uh
<v Speaker 4>we wait for the players to you, know do their,
<v Speaker 4>things shower and, whatnot and we're waiting in the main
<v Speaker 4>lobby and they.
<v Speaker 2>Just start walking out one by.
<v Speaker 4>One so first one is Like Ross, COLTON i think
<v Speaker 4>he comes out just you, know super charismatic guy and
<v Speaker 4>he shakes her one, hand like make sure that everyone's
<v Speaker 4>having a great day, whatnot just says. Hi and then you, Know,
<v Speaker 4>Parker kelly And blackwood came, Out wedgwood came, out and,
<v Speaker 4>uh they're just also, humble like you, know IF i
<v Speaker 4>were to put them on the, street you would never know.
<v Speaker 2>That like there's just another.
<v Speaker 1>Guy there's all town.
<v Speaker 2>Guys, yeah they just they just want to have. Fun,
<v Speaker 2>Yeah like they don't wear flashy. Jewelry they.
<v Speaker 4>Don't they don't wear like the super expensive. Clothes, well
<v Speaker 4>like you, Know kale comes. Out he's talking to me
<v Speaker 4>And i'm. Starstruck OBVIOUSLY i got my hand.
<v Speaker 2>Out i'm. Shaking, uh you, know we're just chatting it.
<v Speaker 2>Up he's chatting it up with. Everyone all of a,
<v Speaker 2>SUDDEN i feel a hand on my shoulder And i'm, like,
<v Speaker 2>oh look, up It's nathan.
<v Speaker 4>McKennon oh. Wow and he's, like, Hey I'm. Nate oh,
<v Speaker 4>YEAH i, KNOW.
<v Speaker 1>I kind of know who you.
<v Speaker 4>ARE i know exactly who you. Are, like and let
<v Speaker 4>me tell You nate he. Is you, know he doesn't smile. Much, no, no.
<v Speaker 1>No he's pretty serious about his.
<v Speaker 2>Craft. Yeah oh, yeah like and.
<v Speaker 4>But you, know super nice, guy you, know says hi
<v Speaker 4>to everyone, whatnot comes back and, goes, hey, MAN i
<v Speaker 4>GOTTA i gotta get.
<v Speaker 2>Going you, KNOW i got a game later.

<v Speaker 4>yeah go do it, guy do.
<v Speaker 2>MAN i want to see you. Win but you, know
<v Speaker 2>there's all such.
<v Speaker 4>Cool, people but, honestly the one that really stuck was you,
<v Speaker 4>know they all really.
<v Speaker 2>Stuck don't get me, wrong, RIGHT i love. That. Yeah
<v Speaker 2>we go into the.
<v Speaker 4>Locker, room Bed NAR's in, there and, Uh nat just
<v Speaker 4>comes in and Brock nelson come in and you, know
<v Speaker 4>they're chatting it, up and all of a, sudden The Swedish,
<v Speaker 4>Legend The Swedish Legends Gabriel landiskot three years away knee.
<v Speaker 4>Injury like you, know all of us At Hockey Fights cancer,
<v Speaker 4>night we're kind of resonating through this. Guy you, know
<v Speaker 4>we don't get to play, anymore and he.
<v Speaker 1>Had to be out for so long and he had
<v Speaker 1>to overcome so.
<v Speaker 4>Much, yes, yeah like a thousand. Days, no that's your,
<v Speaker 4>guy and you know we're all kind of living through. Him,
<v Speaker 4>yes like come, back like you, know do what you guy.
<v Speaker 4>Do and he comes in and, uh one of the
<v Speaker 4>one of the patients brought their, kids and the, kid you,
<v Speaker 4>know young enough to not know who this guy, is runs,
<v Speaker 4>up gives him a little coloring page and it's, like,
<v Speaker 4>hey LIKE i made this for, you and he just
<v Speaker 4>goes into dad.
<v Speaker 2>Mode he's just the normal. Guy.
<v Speaker 4>Wow it gets down on his. Knees kind of scared
<v Speaker 4>me a little. Bit, YEAH i don't want him to get. Hurt,
<v Speaker 4>yeah gets down on his. Knees he's like thank, you
<v Speaker 4>Like i'll put this on my refrigerator and like he
<v Speaker 4>he had a at least five to ten minute conversation
<v Speaker 4>with each person on the round. Goodness and you, know
<v Speaker 4>OBVIOUSLY i can't remember word for word the, conversation but
<v Speaker 4>you kind of black out during, it of, course but
<v Speaker 4>you know you JUST i kind of told, him, like you,
<v Speaker 4>know we're all kind of living through, you, Dude LIKE
<v Speaker 4>i know you don't know, me like we all know,
<v Speaker 4>you but you know you went through this crazy injury
<v Speaker 4>who at the, time no one has ever come, back
<v Speaker 4>not even who's the basketball player that it was one
<v Speaker 4>of ball.
<v Speaker 1>Brothers oh, Yeah Alonzo.
<v Speaker 4>Ba, YEAH i had the same same, injury and it's, like,
<v Speaker 4>okay like, hockey what are the chances that you come, back,
<v Speaker 4>like and like you, know we're telling, them like we're
<v Speaker 4>kind of living through, you and you, know you can
<v Speaker 4>kind of tell he's he's, like, wow you know it
<v Speaker 4>means a, lot, sure but, Yeah landy's just one of
<v Speaker 4>those you, know you put them on the side of
<v Speaker 4>the road and he's just walking down the. Street and
<v Speaker 4>if he, wasn't you know you kind of you can
<v Speaker 4>See landy and you're, like Oh.
<v Speaker 2>Landy.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah but like if no one knew the sport of,
<v Speaker 4>hockey average, guy just a average, guy like just normal
<v Speaker 4>and LIKE i love that about, sports of, course, yeah especially.
<v Speaker 1>Hockey oh, yeah because they are they're not these giant.
<v Speaker 1>Guys they're not these six eight. Guys it's it's very
<v Speaker 1>very different some of. Them, yeah it's it's not like
<v Speaker 1>you would always pick them out of a lineup. Though
<v Speaker 1>some of them are just like this just looks like
<v Speaker 1>an accountant down the, Street, like why the how in
<v Speaker 1>the world is he playing maybe the most athletic sport
<v Speaker 1>on the planet and you just wouldn't know. It that
<v Speaker 1>had to be absolutely. Insane oh, yeah to meet him
<v Speaker 1>in the locker room and for him to be to
<v Speaker 1>be that THEN i, said you don't want to meet
<v Speaker 1>your heroes until you meet your hero and he actually
<v Speaker 1>kind of raises your level of what you thought of
<v Speaker 1>him to begin.
<v Speaker 2>With yeh, ah so.
<v Speaker 1>Cool that's absolutely. Insane so you go to the game
<v Speaker 1>they played The, islanders, yep and you get honored before the,
<v Speaker 1>game you get to go up in the. Booth you
<v Speaker 1>were actually on the broadcast live doing some speaking on the. Mic,
<v Speaker 1>Jackson what in the world was it? Overwhelming?
<v Speaker 2>Uh, YEAH i mean my commentator career is not long at.
<v Speaker 1>All you, Know, HEY i saw. It it was pretty.
<v Speaker 1>Good you did a pretty good.
<v Speaker 2>Job i'm gonna be honest with. YOU i was shaking
<v Speaker 2>the whole.
<v Speaker 1>Time but, sure that's all.
<v Speaker 2>Right the great, view great, office of. Course, yeah you
<v Speaker 2>know you see.
<v Speaker 4>Everything, yeah and, uh you, know you get up there
<v Speaker 4>and they tell you kind of like the same setup
<v Speaker 4>we got, now you, know pressed the butt when you're
<v Speaker 4>ready to, talk and it'll it'll tell you on the
<v Speaker 4>little screen who's, talking and, uh you got a guy
<v Speaker 4>in your, ear like, hey broadcasting five four or?
<v Speaker 2>Three you, know, sure it's pretty. OVERWHELMING i can't, like you,
<v Speaker 2>know props to these, guys, like.
<v Speaker 1>Oh the job they. Do and it's funny because you
<v Speaker 1>hear the, Fans oh he got so And so's. Name
<v Speaker 1>roun do you realize the overwhelming amount of knowledge and
<v Speaker 1>information that they have to have?
<v Speaker 2>Constantly oh, dude the papers laying on the, table all the,
<v Speaker 2>names all the, stats and then you got guys walking
<v Speaker 2>up behind. Them hey say, this like you know this
<v Speaker 2>stat just. Happened make sure you mentioned. That, like they
<v Speaker 2>got a.
<v Speaker 1>Lot and to and to pronounce the names in, hockey like.
<v Speaker 2>Come, on, yeah and there's a lot of.
<v Speaker 1>Foreigners there's a lot of names THAT i still don't
<v Speaker 1>know how to. Say and they've been they've been on
<v Speaker 1>our hometown team now for years And i'm still, like,
<v Speaker 1>wait how do.
<v Speaker 2>You say THAT i, KNOW i still get choked up
<v Speaker 2>on the choo, kidding, like oh.
<v Speaker 1>For, sure for. Sure, Wow, Okay, JACKSON I i just
<v Speaker 1>think your story is so. Unique there's so many people
<v Speaker 1>that need to hear that. Story and LIKE i, said
<v Speaker 1>somewhere out there there's a person going through something similar
<v Speaker 1>to what you have, beaten and your STORY i think
<v Speaker 1>can literally give them. Hope But i've got To i've
<v Speaker 1>got to cut through some of. That we've got to
<v Speaker 1>get past that just a little. Bit i'm gonna come
<v Speaker 1>back to, it But i'm gonna get Back. Jackson Our
<v Speaker 1>Colorado avalanche should win The Stanley cup this, year And
<v Speaker 1>i'm getting real concerned because they're struggling And i'm getting
<v Speaker 1>worried And i'm freaking.
<v Speaker 2>Out, Okay, OKAY i don't know about, you But i'm.
<v Speaker 2>SUPERSTITIOUS i was.
<v Speaker 1>Cutting i'm a Little i'm not Super.
<v Speaker 2>We gotta we gotta watch what we're. Saying, OKAY i.
<v Speaker 2>DON'T i don't, Know.
<v Speaker 1>Jackson they're really.
<v Speaker 4>Good they're really, good you, know setting records halfway through The,
<v Speaker 4>yes no one does. That, no, no, No especially in
<v Speaker 4>today's day and age in, sports everyone is at the
<v Speaker 4>top of their.
<v Speaker 2>Game.
<v Speaker 4>Right we are in the time right now where it's
<v Speaker 4>only GONNA i, mean it's only gonna get.
<v Speaker 2>Better but we're watching the best sports we have ever.
<v Speaker 2>Seen oh, yeah the, best the best what no matter
<v Speaker 2>what sport you, watch, sure but you know you're gonna
<v Speaker 2>have your off, games yeah, right, yeah and you can't
<v Speaker 2>be mad at.
<v Speaker 1>It's such a long.
<v Speaker 2>Season, yeah such a long.
<v Speaker 4>Season and you, know as of right, now we are
<v Speaker 4>in such a good spot to figure out our.
<v Speaker 2>Team, really you, KNOW i know that sounds, weird but,
<v Speaker 2>no but you're.
<v Speaker 4>Right, Yeah i'm sure Ben nard's trying to figure out you,
<v Speaker 4>know the lines that he wants her, playoffs, yes and
<v Speaker 4>who works with? Who and you, know if a player
<v Speaker 4>goes out, here maybe he's. Switching like, hey if you,
<v Speaker 4>Know i'm not trying to put any bad juju in the,
<v Speaker 4>air but like if so and so gets, hurt and
<v Speaker 4>If i'm IF i move so and so into this,
<v Speaker 4>position how is he going to work with this? Line
<v Speaker 4>and you, know if it doesn't, work it doesn't, Work
<v Speaker 4>and that's probably you, know when we have our off, nights.
<v Speaker 2>He might just be figuring stuff.
<v Speaker 1>Out, no you're, right, yeah who are you looking? At
<v Speaker 1>in THE. Nhl who is the team that you're, like
<v Speaker 1>that's the that's the, concern that's the. Worry that's the
<v Speaker 1>team we've got to somehow find a way to. BEAT
<v Speaker 1>i THINK i know you're gonna, say BUT i want
<v Speaker 1>to know what you're gonna.
<v Speaker 4>Say, YEAH i mean the kryptonite for the past three
<v Speaker 4>years have Been.
<v Speaker 2>Dallas, yes, yeah, YEAH i don't. Know dallas is. Good,
<v Speaker 2>really H, yeah there's a lot of like underdogs this, Year, like,
<v Speaker 2>no you're, right Like Red wings are all of a
<v Speaker 2>sudden pretty. Good, YEAH i don't, know yeah really Just. Dallas,
<v Speaker 2>Yeah dallas is. Scary.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah and you, know like you, said there's a couple
<v Speaker 1>of teams out there that you look at and you're, like,
<v Speaker 1>well maybe they're not. Scary but you get in a playoff,
<v Speaker 1>series it starts to drag, on it starts to get.
<v Speaker 1>Scary you if you're Playing, vegas you know you're you're
<v Speaker 1>probably gonna come out on. Top it's going to be a,
<v Speaker 1>dogfight it's going to be a, struggle and and there
<v Speaker 1>are no gimmes in THE. Nhl you just you just
<v Speaker 1>don't have. That so all, Right i'm Gonna i'm gonna
<v Speaker 1>worry Abou. Dallas i'm already annoyed with them, Anyways but
<v Speaker 1>that's gonna be my my big, concern all. Right you, Know,
<v Speaker 1>JACKSON i gotta be honest with. YOU i really think
<v Speaker 1>you need to be a spokesperson and you need to
<v Speaker 1>be out telling your story. Somewhere AND i think that
<v Speaker 1>if anyone out there is listening to this and you
<v Speaker 1>Hear jackson's story and you want to book, him you
<v Speaker 1>reach out to The Dale dose BECAUSE i will help
<v Speaker 1>you book. Him But i'm going to be, very very.
<v Speaker 1>Transparent When jackson AND i started hanging, Out jackson is
<v Speaker 1>a very close friend of my, son and you AND
<v Speaker 1>i spoke and you, said why, Me why DID i
<v Speaker 1>have to go through? This AND i told you, then
<v Speaker 1>AND i believe that as much now as AS i
<v Speaker 1>told you. THEN i believe it is so you can
<v Speaker 1>help other people go through what you've gone. Through AND
<v Speaker 1>i still absolutely believe. That BUT i think you are
<v Speaker 1>the perfect person to tell your, story AND i think
<v Speaker 1>that there are a lot of people that will benefit
<v Speaker 1>from hearing your. STORY i want to thank you for
<v Speaker 1>sharing this story BECAUSE i, know LIKE i, said you're
<v Speaker 1>not the person that wants to get on here you
<v Speaker 1>don't want to talk about. Yourself you don't want to
<v Speaker 1>come on and be, hey here's my story and this
<v Speaker 1>is what makes me a little bit. DIFFERENT i get,
<v Speaker 1>that AND i appreciate, that AND i thank you for
<v Speaker 1>coming on the. Dose BUT i think there are so
<v Speaker 1>many people that benefit from hearing what you went through
<v Speaker 1>and seeing it didn't take. You it didn't it didn't overcome. You,
<v Speaker 1>yes it's a, struggle but you you are beating it
<v Speaker 1>and you're still moving on and you're still moving onward and,
<v Speaker 1>upward and that is what is so encouraging about. It
<v Speaker 1>that's WHY i wanted to have you on the. DOSE
<v Speaker 1>i think people need to hear that. Story and LIKE i,
<v Speaker 1>SAID i THINK i think your story needs to be.
<v Speaker 1>TOLD i think we need to get this out because
<v Speaker 1>there are too many people going through similar circumstances that
<v Speaker 1>need to, Hear, hey you can you can do, this
<v Speaker 1>you can get through, this you can beat.
<v Speaker 2>This, YEAH i appreciate. It you. KNOW i think the.
<v Speaker 4>The biggest thing That i've learned is the one THING
<v Speaker 4>i always told myself every, day you, KNOW i WAS
<v Speaker 4>i was getting sick every, DAY i was in pain every.
<v Speaker 4>DAY I i would have to you, know watch other people,
<v Speaker 4>succeed Which i'm happy for, them, sure but you know
<v Speaker 4>you feel you start to feel, Behind, yeah and like
<v Speaker 4>what DO i?
<v Speaker 2>Do.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah the one THING i always told myself was it
<v Speaker 4>can always be. Worse, no you're, Right i'm, Right i'm above,
<v Speaker 4>ground Yep son comes up every. Day, yeah and even
<v Speaker 4>with you, know circumstances at home or at work or you,
<v Speaker 4>know just daily, life it can always be.
<v Speaker 1>Worse, No and and having that gratitude for for where
<v Speaker 1>you're at is always going to change your outlook on
<v Speaker 1>what what all is going on in, life every. Everything
<v Speaker 1>if you can if you can wake up that day and, say,
<v Speaker 1>Hey i've got, This i've got, that it's going to
<v Speaker 1>change your outlook on. Life and that's a that's a great,
<v Speaker 1>point all, Right. Jackson going into this, interview you had,
<v Speaker 1>said do you want me to look over the? Questions
<v Speaker 1>AND i, said, NO i don't want you to look
<v Speaker 1>over the. QUESTIONS i want TO i want this just
<v Speaker 1>to be off the. CUFF i just want you to
<v Speaker 1>speak from the heart and not have to rehearse. ANYTHING
