<v Speaker 1>Wednesday, February twenty twenty six, you are listening to the
<v Speaker 1>Daily Dose Sports podcast and I am your host, Clinton
<v Speaker 1>Daily Come and keep them my high seed here in Denver, Colorado,
<v Speaker 1>and we are back for another week of talking sports
<v Speaker 1>with a dose of common sense. Hey, Happy Wednesday to you.
<v Speaker 1>Hope you had a good weekend. Hope your week is
<v Speaker 1>going well. Hope that you your family or friends are
<v Speaker 1>all staying strong and you are all staying healthy right now.
<v Speaker 1>And I hope that you enjoyed the NBA All Star
<v Speaker 1>Game festivities over this past weekend. You know the NBA
<v Speaker 1>All Star Game stuff is bad when the NBA media
<v Speaker 1>comes out this past Monday and tells you, you know,
<v Speaker 1>it wasn't that bad. The player sometimes even played hard.
<v Speaker 1>They tried sometimes. I mean I even saw them commit
<v Speaker 1>a few five the games or whatever they were they were.
<v Speaker 1>It wasn't really an All Star game. It's like a
<v Speaker 1>few different games. I don't know exactly what they did,
<v Speaker 1>but they were like, well, the games were kind of close.
<v Speaker 1>It really wasn't that awful. I was expecting terrible, but
<v Speaker 1>it wasn't that terrible. Is this what we're saying now?
<v Speaker 1>So glad we're setting the bar so high for the NBA. Okay,
<v Speaker 1>but maybe you did enjoy the NBA All Star Game.
<v Speaker 1>Maybe it didn't. Maybe you enjoyed I don't know, the
<v Speaker 1>Daytona five hundred, where now they're just allowing drivers to
<v Speaker 1>crash each other in hopes of causing a big fight
<v Speaker 1>and a last lap melee, which is what happened there.
<v Speaker 1>You know, NASCAR loves that. Or maybe you were just
<v Speaker 1>watching the Winter Olympics or even college basketball. I hope
<v Speaker 1>whatever is you were watching that you were enjoying this
<v Speaker 1>short stretch that we have right now where we've got
<v Speaker 1>a few different things to watch now that football is over, Hey,
<v Speaker 1>we might as well enjoy it while we have it
<v Speaker 1>right Hey, today, I'm the Dose. Yes, I know, like
<v Speaker 1>I said, football is over.
<v Speaker 2>Over, you say over.
<v Speaker 1>Nothing is over until we decide it is. I want
<v Speaker 1>to wrap up the twenty twenty five NFL season in
<v Speaker 1>true Daily Dose fashion, and in fact, we have so
<v Speaker 1>much to get to we need to jump in right now.
<v Speaker 1>Joining us this week on the Daily Dose, we have
<v Speaker 1>our illustrious panel of NFL experts to wrap up this
<v Speaker 1>NFL season. I know it ended last week, and I
<v Speaker 1>know people are already moving on. They're talking about I
<v Speaker 1>don't know, the NBA Dunk contest or something. Right now,
<v Speaker 1>we're not doing that. We're gonna actually recap the NFL season, because,
<v Speaker 1>let's be honest, more NFL is better than less. First up,
<v Speaker 1>we have president of the Daily Dose, I team that
<v Speaker 1>finds the stories that no one else can find, West
<v Speaker 1>Virginia Mountaineer and disappointed Philadelphia Eagles fan Big Rock Rob.
<v Speaker 1>Do you blame head coach Nick Sirianni or wide receiver
<v Speaker 1>A J. Brown for the Eagles demise?
<v Speaker 3>Both both? They equally equally chair the.
<v Speaker 1>Play That's fair. That's fair. They were. That was a partnership.
<v Speaker 1>You could see in that in that playoff game came
<v Speaker 1>off the side they get into it, and I just went, well,
<v Speaker 1>it doesn't look good. It looks like it's going partly.
<v Speaker 1>Next up, we have Mike and Castle Rock out on
<v Speaker 1>those Colorado planes. Mike are Denver Broncos totally overachieved this year.
<v Speaker 1>Why don't we feel better?
<v Speaker 4>It might be because of the way they won a
<v Speaker 4>lot of those games. Yeah, maybe so, I mean, and
<v Speaker 4>against bad teams. They they played to their competition every
<v Speaker 4>week every week except for MS Bill every week they
<v Speaker 4>played the competition. You know, you go across the pond
<v Speaker 4>and you score eleven points against the Jets or whatever
<v Speaker 4>that awful game was.
<v Speaker 1>I had to bunt in a home run. Yes, oh,
<v Speaker 1>I mean it was.
<v Speaker 4>That might be why it is just you know, last
<v Speaker 4>year though, we lost all those games, so that is
<v Speaker 4>a step forward. But played a last place schedule or
<v Speaker 4>second to the last play schedule, and next year it's a
<v Speaker 4>first place schedule, so that may that's.
<v Speaker 3>Part of it.
<v Speaker 1>Gonna ramp up for sure. Finally we have the wild
<v Speaker 1>and wiley, savvy veteran and Bronco fan and do you
<v Speaker 1>pioneer and sometimes you tell you Larry from Centennial, Larry,
<v Speaker 1>you told me a few weeks ago snow was coming.
<v Speaker 1>What in the world happened? Where did it go? We
<v Speaker 1>didn't get it? Are they getting it up in the
<v Speaker 1>in the high country? I don't know. I'm not getting
<v Speaker 1>any We.
<v Speaker 2>Got a whopping two inches over the over the weekend
<v Speaker 2>in the mountains.
<v Speaker 1>Is there something we can do? Is there some sort
<v Speaker 1>of dance there.
<v Speaker 2>Is? Well, if I told you there was a dance,
<v Speaker 2>would I get you to do it? Maybe we are
<v Speaker 2>holding out for late season March and April skiing, So
<v Speaker 2>don't give up just yet.
<v Speaker 1>Okay, Okay, that's what I'm hoping for, because I mean,
<v Speaker 1>I'm not I'm not really someone that goes to Temple.
<v Speaker 1>But if that's what I have to do to get
<v Speaker 1>the snow to fall, I know, you know there are
<v Speaker 1>people that can control that weather. Maybe that's something we
<v Speaker 1>need to do. Gentlemen, if I had bet that an
<v Speaker 1>Indiana quarterback would win the Heisman, Indiana would win the
<v Speaker 1>National Championship, and Sam Darnold would win the Super Bowl,
<v Speaker 1>how many houses could I have won? I could have
<v Speaker 1>won all the house right, A lot, a lot. We
<v Speaker 1>knew it was a wild year. We knew it was
<v Speaker 1>a crazy year. We've talked about it all year. We
<v Speaker 1>talked about it at the beginning of the year. This
<v Speaker 1>could be a wide open free for all that no
<v Speaker 1>one can predict. And that's exactly what we ended up with.
<v Speaker 1>Of course, the Seattle Seahawks won Super Bowl sixty over
<v Speaker 1>the New England Patriots in dominating fashion in a game
<v Speaker 1>that put most everyone to sleep. Did anyone stay awake
<v Speaker 1>for the whole thing?
<v Speaker 3>I was.
<v Speaker 2>You were awake, but I was barely awake.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, it was tough, I and and what was crazy
<v Speaker 1>is the fourth quarter actually finally saw a little bit
<v Speaker 1>of action, but by then, who cares, like you already
<v Speaker 1>knew the outcome. It didn't matter. So it was just
<v Speaker 1>one of the most boring super Bowls ever. And I'm
<v Speaker 1>okay with the defensive game. I'm okay with a well
<v Speaker 1>played defensive game. That wasn't what we got. We got
<v Speaker 1>bad offense, we got terrible quarterback play. That was not
<v Speaker 1>a fun super Bowl on any level. And Rob, I'll
<v Speaker 1>be honest, I would have rather had the Eagles in.
<v Speaker 1>It would have been more fun to watch.
<v Speaker 3>At least. Yeah. Yeah, like you said, it wasn't super
<v Speaker 3>slow first half, I think it was at all field
<v Speaker 3>goals and just outside of a couple of nice blitz packages.
<v Speaker 3>I mean, there was really really nothing going on in
<v Speaker 3>that first half.
<v Speaker 1>No, Mike, you and I were talking from the very beginning,
<v Speaker 1>and even though it was like, you know, three nothing, six, nothing,
<v Speaker 1>we were like, it feels like the dam is about
<v Speaker 1>to burst and this is going to get ugly, and
<v Speaker 1>it did. That's exactly what happened. I didn't I don't
<v Speaker 1>know what. I don't know what New England was thinking.
<v Speaker 4>Well, I don't know, I mean, they will Campbell.
<v Speaker 3>That was rough.
<v Speaker 4>I don't know. Everybody was calling New England out for
<v Speaker 4>having the easiest schedule since nineteen ninety nine. Yeah, and
<v Speaker 4>they had the worst offensive postseason performance of a team
<v Speaker 4>to get into the Super Bowl pretty much ever. And
<v Speaker 4>and boy did it come to roost.
<v Speaker 3>It was.
<v Speaker 4>It was just so bad. You know, the AFC Championship game,
<v Speaker 4>they were gifted a touchdown. Otherwise they don't score other
<v Speaker 4>than a field goal.
<v Speaker 2>That was just it just.
<v Speaker 3>So so bad.
<v Speaker 4>I think they're overhyped all year and it definitely showed.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, it did. And you know, you wonder, you know,
<v Speaker 1>was Drake May injured? Was that a problem? I know
<v Speaker 1>they were talking about the shoulder being a problem. He
<v Speaker 1>certainly couldn't throw it. That was horrifying to watch. But man, May,
<v Speaker 1>I never saw an adjustment. I never saw a Hey,
<v Speaker 1>we know the pressure's coming. We're gonna give him some
<v Speaker 1>really quick throws to get rid of the ball, get
<v Speaker 1>it out of his hands. When they never did that.
<v Speaker 1>Josh McDaniel stood over there and I was just like,
<v Speaker 1>I don't know, I guess this is just what we're
<v Speaker 1>gonna do. Just very bizarre. Okay. Prior to the Super Bowl, though,
<v Speaker 1>the Pro Football Hall of Fame announced their latest class
<v Speaker 1>of in depth these the class will be led by
<v Speaker 1>quarterback Drew Brees, one of just two quarterbacks to throw
<v Speaker 1>for over eighty thousand yards in his career. Wide receiver
<v Speaker 1>Larry Fitzgerald gets it. He finishes his career second only
<v Speaker 1>to Hall of Famer Jerry Rice in career receptions and
<v Speaker 1>receiving yards. Linebacker Luke Kickley kicker and him, Vinterierry and
<v Speaker 1>running back Roger Craig will be the rest of the
<v Speaker 1>finalists there. But people we will not be seeing go
<v Speaker 1>into the Hall of Fame will be New England Patriots
<v Speaker 1>head coach Bill Belichick, who was a finalist on the
<v Speaker 1>Coach's Subcommittee, and New England Patriots owner Robert Kratt, the
<v Speaker 1>finalist for the Contributors subcommittee. I'm gonna go around the
<v Speaker 1>horn and I'm going to ask each of you, Rob,
<v Speaker 1>why were they both left out?
<v Speaker 3>As I understand it, just the voting process, That's that's
<v Speaker 3>what they're saying. But maybe just a little bit of
<v Speaker 3>hateration there, yeah, could have been could have been a
<v Speaker 3>little bit of part of it.
<v Speaker 1>A little bit of spite might have been mixed with that. Mike,
<v Speaker 1>you see anything different there?
<v Speaker 4>Not really, I mean it goes to show you that
<v Speaker 4>the human element comes in a little bit too much
<v Speaker 4>with it, rather than just looking at the product. You know,
<v Speaker 4>they take a broader view, the fact that you know,
<v Speaker 4>their kicker gets in and neither the coach or the
<v Speaker 4>owner gets in. I don't know. It's called political, call
<v Speaker 4>it whatever. I don't know. He's not the most charming person,
<v Speaker 4>but I can't stand the guy. But I don't know
<v Speaker 4>how he's not a first ballot Hall of Famer.
<v Speaker 1>Larry, do you have any insight as to why those
<v Speaker 1>voters might have left these two guys off the ballot.
<v Speaker 2>I don't, other than you know what these fellas have said.
<v Speaker 2>I but yeah, well one other thing, okay, let's have
<v Speaker 2>it the cheating scandal, right, I mean, a head coach
<v Speaker 2>is the CEO and what happens on you know, it
<v Speaker 2>seems like a very very long time ago, but those
<v Speaker 2>things did happen. I don't know how they impacted the game,
<v Speaker 2>but they served hefty penalties for him, and there is
<v Speaker 2>something to say, you know, if you want to be
<v Speaker 2>liked by the NFL, which includes the Hall of Fame. Right,
<v Speaker 2>Bill Belichick never never went, you know, any farther than
<v Speaker 2>he had to keep our wives, So you know, and
<v Speaker 2>you have to live with that if you if you're him,
<v Speaker 2>And I don't know, I haven't heard him complaining about it,
<v Speaker 2>so I don't know if if he you know, expects
<v Speaker 2>it or or what. But you know, you live with
<v Speaker 2>your your actions, and that may be one.
<v Speaker 4>Of maybe.
<v Speaker 2>I was really surprised. I mean, if you look at
<v Speaker 2>Craft's track record and what he did with the Patriots,
<v Speaker 2>very impressive, not unlike somebody you know in our town. Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>he deserves to be in, and he'll be in.
<v Speaker 3>He'll be in.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, it's a matter of time. It's it's kind of
<v Speaker 1>a slap on the wrist. Mike, what were you going
<v Speaker 1>to say?
<v Speaker 4>I was just gonna say, maybe in a few years
<v Speaker 4>he'll get in for his girlfriend's twenty first birthday.
<v Speaker 1>That is fair, Rob. They won't do this to Tom Brady, right, No.
<v Speaker 3>I don't think so. I think yeah, I think Brady
<v Speaker 3>gets in right away because I think there is something
<v Speaker 3>to be said for you know, it is a coach
<v Speaker 3>and an owner, which is a little bit different from
<v Speaker 3>a player, and then also going back to the voting
<v Speaker 3>system too, which people have talked about this before, but
<v Speaker 3>the tier system is something that you know, probably would help.
<v Speaker 3>I think it's like we turn into like a first
<v Speaker 3>ballot Hall of Famers kind of how we try to
<v Speaker 3>you know, differentiate just everybody being in the Hall of Fame.
<v Speaker 3>And like I said, I know it's been mentioned before,
<v Speaker 3>if you kind of have levels to it, you know,
<v Speaker 3>I think that would help out a lot.
<v Speaker 1>I am all for levels. I have said, and I've
<v Speaker 1>said it here on the dose, you've got kind of
<v Speaker 1>the pyramid going the best of the best, go to
<v Speaker 1>the top. You know, even you know, you look at baseball,
<v Speaker 1>you've got the steroid guys. Hey, the steroid guys should
<v Speaker 1>be in. Mark McGuire should be at Samy so should
<v Speaker 1>be in we know that should they be maybe in
<v Speaker 1>the basement behind the beaded curtain that you have to
<v Speaker 1>like walk through that you kind of oh, well, what
<v Speaker 1>section is this that you all act surprised that you're
<v Speaker 1>walking in. Maybe maybe, but they're in. I mean I
<v Speaker 1>would be fine with that kind of a tiered system.
<v Speaker 1>I don't have any problems with that. I wouldn't think
<v Speaker 1>Brady would get held up by this. Maybe this is
<v Speaker 1>just a wacky coincidence that it was just you know,
<v Speaker 1>the format that it is. Maybe it just happened to
<v Speaker 1>be both those guys, or maybe they're like, hey, we
<v Speaker 1>know you did something. We know you guys were cheating,
<v Speaker 1>and you weren't cheating one time, you're cheating a few
<v Speaker 1>times and you got caught a few times. So it
<v Speaker 1>probably happened more maybe than even we know. But I
<v Speaker 1>still I still go back to this. When they hammered
<v Speaker 1>them as much as they did, you know, for the
<v Speaker 1>Flategate stuff, that wasn't the That wasn't the judgment of a, hey,
<v Speaker 1>stop doing that. That was a judgment of, hey, I've
<v Speaker 1>told you before stop doing that, and you smack the
<v Speaker 1>kid's hand. That was not a oh, hey you know whatever.
<v Speaker 1>I know you guys just slipped up. That was a
<v Speaker 1>I'm angry because I keep telling you to stop doing
<v Speaker 1>it and you want to stop feeling it. That totally
<v Speaker 1>read of that to me. Okay, we're going into this offseason.
<v Speaker 1>Season is now over. Going into the offseason, we had
<v Speaker 1>a number of head coaches get moved. I want to
<v Speaker 1>go through the list here, real quick, and then I'm
<v Speaker 1>going to go around the horn and see which hires
<v Speaker 1>you like and maybe which hires you don't like. But
<v Speaker 1>we had ten coaching hires and fires. Let's go through
<v Speaker 1>these very quickly. The Arizona Cardinals fired Jonathan Gannon and
<v Speaker 1>they hired Rams offensive coordinator Michael Floor. The Atlanta Falcons
<v Speaker 1>fired Raheem Morris and hired Brown's head coach Kevin Stefanski.
<v Speaker 1>The Baltimore Ravens fired longtime coach Jim Harbaugh and hired
<v Speaker 1>Chargers defensive coordinator Jesse Minter. The Buffalo Bills fired longtime
<v Speaker 1>head coach Sean McDermott and promoted offensive coordinator Joe Brady
<v Speaker 1>to the head job. The Cleveland Browns fired Kevin Stefanski
<v Speaker 1>and hired Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Munkin. The Las Vegas
<v Speaker 1>Raiders fired another head coach in Pete Carroll, and hired
<v Speaker 1>Seahawks offensive coordinator Clint Kubiak. Good name, although he doesn't
<v Speaker 1>know how to spell it. Miami Dolphins fired head coach
<v Speaker 1>Mike McDaniel and hired Packers' defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley. The
<v Speaker 1>New York Giants fired Brian Dayball and hired Ravens head
<v Speaker 1>coach Jim Harbaugh. The Pittsburgh Steelers fired longtime head coach
<v Speaker 1>by Tomlin and hired former Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy.
<v Speaker 1>The Tennessee Titans fired Brian Callahan and hired San Francisco
<v Speaker 1>forty nine Ers defensive coordinator Robert Salah. Rob, that was
<v Speaker 1>a lot, but I'm gonna throw it out to you.
<v Speaker 1>Is there a hire here that you look at and
<v Speaker 1>you go, they might have actually got a good one,
<v Speaker 1>that might actually be a good fit.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah. For me, the last one you mentioned, Titans hiring
<v Speaker 3>Robert Sala, I thought he was good with the Jets
<v Speaker 3>just kind of, you know, just a bad deal because
<v Speaker 3>it's the Jets. It's the Jets did a good job
<v Speaker 3>last year as the DC there in forty nine ers.
<v Speaker 3>So this is the guy that I think coach. Like
<v Speaker 3>I said, not a whole lot of talent there, but
<v Speaker 3>as just far as coaching hires go, I think that's
<v Speaker 3>a good one.
<v Speaker 1>Okay, I like that one. Mike, you got anything, you
<v Speaker 1>got anything different? What coaching higher did you like?
<v Speaker 2>Yeah?
<v Speaker 4>I agree with Rob. I like Salah as well. Kubiex
<v Speaker 4>interesting to me, boy, But he's kind of walking into
<v Speaker 4>a mess there. But I'm gonna take the low hanging
<v Speaker 4>fruit and say, Harbord of the Giants. I mean, they've
<v Speaker 4>got good young talent. I think he could do something
<v Speaker 4>with it there.
<v Speaker 1>You would hope. So my concern with Harbot is what
<v Speaker 1>he's had these past few years and has done nothing with.
<v Speaker 1>And now I'm starting to go see what we thought
<v Speaker 1>he Well, I'm not so sure now, Larry, is there
<v Speaker 1>a coaching higher here?
<v Speaker 2>You like, Yeah, I'll go with Stefanski. You know, I
<v Speaker 2>think anytime you're getting fired by the Browns, you got
<v Speaker 2>to look at that as a compliment.
<v Speaker 1>Right, It's a win, It's definitely a win.
<v Speaker 2>Is a huge win. Now, I think he's a good coach.
<v Speaker 2>I think, look, coaches get fired not all the time.
<v Speaker 2>Is it because of what they're doing. It's because whatever's
<v Speaker 2>whatever personnel they have is is not that great. And
<v Speaker 2>I think that was absolutely the case in Cleveland. So
<v Speaker 2>I'll take him in Atlanta. I think they got some
<v Speaker 2>talent and I think he's a good coach.
<v Speaker 1>All right, Rob, We're gonna flip it. Is there a
<v Speaker 1>coaching hire out there that you look at and just
<v Speaker 1>go good luck. This doesn't seem like a good fit.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, Mike McCarthy to the Steelers. You know, I can
<v Speaker 3>see where you let go of Tomlin just because you
<v Speaker 3>need a change. But then the guy you bring in,
<v Speaker 3>you know, I don't know how much that's really going
<v Speaker 3>to change, you know, or kind of just what they're
<v Speaker 3>looking for. So that's the one to me, Like I said,
<v Speaker 3>I can understand why you wanted to get rid of
<v Speaker 3>Tomlin despite the winning record, just you know, a new
<v Speaker 3>voice in the locker room that makes sense. But they're
<v Speaker 3>replace him with McCarthy. I don't. I don't see that one.
<v Speaker 1>That one confuses me. I don't. I don't get it.
<v Speaker 1>Maybe I'm just maybe I'm missing it. Mike, you have
<v Speaker 1>you have a different one? What what do you have
<v Speaker 1>for coaching hire that makes the least a monsense to you?
<v Speaker 4>I don't have a different one. That's exactly what I
<v Speaker 4>was going to say. I mean, they have a history
<v Speaker 4>of having what three coaches in the last forty what
<v Speaker 4>on yours? This isn't gonna be, This isn't going to
<v Speaker 4>continue that. This this one just baffled me. I don't
<v Speaker 4>know what they were thinking trying to pair him and
<v Speaker 4>Rogers together for one more shot at glory. I don't
<v Speaker 4>get it.
<v Speaker 1>I don't understand it in any way. Larry, what about you? You
<v Speaker 1>got a coaching how you don't like?
<v Speaker 2>No, because I think I don't know that any of
<v Speaker 2>these actually you can point to and say, you know, fantastic,
<v Speaker 2>right like or otherwise or terrible. I don't know. And
<v Speaker 2>you guys probably right about Pittsburgh. I just would say
<v Speaker 2>that I'm really interested in watching what happens with the Raiders.
<v Speaker 1>You know, it'll be interesting.
<v Speaker 2>They just always seem to, you know, have top draft
<v Speaker 2>picks that they can't do anything with. Of course, we
<v Speaker 2>know the guy or the guy's father fairly well, assuming
<v Speaker 2>he knows what he's doing. But yeah, those the younger
<v Speaker 2>green court coaches that go to the teams that are
<v Speaker 2>terrible are always fun to watch. So there's gonna be
<v Speaker 2>a few of those.
<v Speaker 1>It'll be very interesting. I have heard it compared to this,
<v Speaker 1>but firing Mike Tomlin and hiring Mike McCarthy feels a
<v Speaker 1>lot like someone pooped their pants and decided to change
<v Speaker 1>their shirt. Okay, moving on, We're going to move on
<v Speaker 1>to a few awards. I've got a few awards that
<v Speaker 1>I want to hand out. I've got everyone queued up.
<v Speaker 1>We're going to hand out a few awards. You know,
<v Speaker 1>if you are going to hand out a pleasant surprise,
<v Speaker 1>a team that surprised us in the best way, A
<v Speaker 1>team that may be overachieved or was better than expectations. Rob,
<v Speaker 1>who would your pleasant surprise team be this year?
<v Speaker 3>I'm gonna give it to the Chicago Bears, just to run.
<v Speaker 3>They had some of those finishes in the games, A
<v Speaker 3>team I think we all said would be a little
<v Speaker 3>bit better, you know, with the new coach and everything,
<v Speaker 3>you know, with a definite coach upgrade. But yeah, the
<v Speaker 3>way they went through the season, how their season ended,
<v Speaker 3>that's a team that I thought was a pleasant surprise.
<v Speaker 1>Definitely. Chicago is very, very improved and even better than
<v Speaker 1>we expected. We expected him to be better. I don't
<v Speaker 1>know if I expected him to be you know, NFC
<v Speaker 1>championship kind of better. Fast improvement there, Mike, what about you?
<v Speaker 1>Who's your pleasant surprise?
<v Speaker 4>Well, Lou hanging fruit. But I'm gonna say the Seahawks,
<v Speaker 4>I mean, second year unto the head coach, you know,
<v Speaker 4>making the trade for Darnold, who had one good year
<v Speaker 4>but previously I always used to fall off, you know,
<v Speaker 4>getting rid of DK Metcalf making a lot of changes
<v Speaker 4>and boy making it work. And that's a gauntlet of
<v Speaker 4>a division to go through and win the division. Yeah,
<v Speaker 4>and make it all the way to the super Bowl,
<v Speaker 4>and like it was, it wasn't a difficult super Bowl
<v Speaker 4>for him. But I think and it's a pretty good
<v Speaker 4>young team, except I mean the quarterback's not super young.
<v Speaker 4>But I like what they're doing out there.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah. See, I'll obviously overchieved and did some huge things
<v Speaker 1>that you took my pick as well. I expected them
<v Speaker 1>to go kind of nine and eight and be kind
<v Speaker 1>of a middling team and maybe battle for a playoff
<v Speaker 1>spot to go win the whole thing. No impressive and
<v Speaker 1>a physical team, way more physical than I expected. I give. See,
<v Speaker 1>I have a lot of credit, Larry. What about you
<v Speaker 1>finished this off? Who's your pleasant surprise?
<v Speaker 2>Well, I was going to say Chicago, but a close
<v Speaker 2>second to be Jacksonville. Yeah, I mean everybody always thought
<v Speaker 2>that they had the potential to you know, to win
<v Speaker 2>the division and all that kind of stuff. Well they
<v Speaker 2>did and they didn't totally you know, mess it up,
<v Speaker 2>so and had a really good season, So you got
<v Speaker 2>to give them a little bit bit of credit thinking,
<v Speaker 2>you know that they were going to prove you wrong
<v Speaker 2>again and they didn't. They performed this this year.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, yeah, they did. Good call. Good call. Jacksonville belongs there.
<v Speaker 1>They definitely were a team that rose above expectations. Let's
<v Speaker 1>flip it over the other side, Rob, who do you
<v Speaker 1>have as your disappointment of the year?
<v Speaker 3>Yeah? Team I mentioned before Atlanta Falcons had all the
<v Speaker 3>talent in the world, and especially with that division. I
<v Speaker 3>just think they could have been way better, could've had
<v Speaker 3>a way better season than they did. And so that's
<v Speaker 3>definitely my My biggest disappointment is they.
<v Speaker 1>Come out, they're in the lead, they have the division
<v Speaker 1>wrapped up, just finish it, and they couldn't do any
<v Speaker 1>I don't understand that they just fell off early on.
<v Speaker 1>You're still looking at them. Okay, they're gonna figure it out.
<v Speaker 1>They're gonna rally, They're gonna Nope, they're not gonna do anything. Mike,
<v Speaker 1>do you have as your disappointment?
<v Speaker 4>Well, just because I don't like them, I want to
<v Speaker 4>give it to the Chiefs. They had a pretty disappointing season.
<v Speaker 4>The quarterback injury is a big part of it too, right,
<v Speaker 4>But overall, I got I gotta say the Lions the
<v Speaker 4>way the way that they lost uh in the playoffs
<v Speaker 4>last year, getting smacked at home. You thought they would
<v Speaker 4>have just been chewing lead the entire offseason and ready
<v Speaker 4>to len and boy they stumbled. I don't get that.
<v Speaker 4>That that was to me, that was the biggest disappointment
<v Speaker 4>in the NFL.
<v Speaker 1>That was a big one. Detroit definitely underachieved, Larry, what
<v Speaker 1>about you?
<v Speaker 2>All good? But the Ravens are the biggest disappointment. They
<v Speaker 2>you know, come on in a division that is completely
<v Speaker 2>winnable and to go, you know, to go to the playoffs,
<v Speaker 2>you know, having to play those those teams twice. They
<v Speaker 2>just didn't and you know they fired their head coach
<v Speaker 2>because of it. So yeah, I think the Ravens for
<v Speaker 2>me is the biggest disappointment.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah. I took the Ravens as well, expected to be
<v Speaker 1>a Super Bowl contender. They didn't even make the postseason.
<v Speaker 1>I did not see that coming. And like you said,
<v Speaker 1>you know, we expect Pittsburgh to be in the hunt.
<v Speaker 1>Cleveland's awful, Cincinnati's can't figure themselves out. Hey, it's a
<v Speaker 1>wide open road. Just go take it and Baltimore couldn't
<v Speaker 1>do it, and I don't understand why, but they didn't.
<v Speaker 3>Remember.

<v Speaker 1>gmail dot com. Okay, we're gonna hand out a few
<v Speaker 1>specific awards now, and we're gonna start this off, Rob,
<v Speaker 1>who's your dirtiest player of the year.
<v Speaker 3>Uh, this was a tough one for me.
<v Speaker 1>I know it's hard.
<v Speaker 3>If we were talking NBA, I would say Draymond Green
<v Speaker 3>just dirty.
<v Speaker 1>Of course, Yes, he nailed it right there, But I.
<v Speaker 3>Didn't really have an equivalent. So I'm gonna say, any
<v Speaker 3>player this season that's spit on somebody, and that's if
<v Speaker 3>you got caught Jon Carter, Jamar Chase or if you
<v Speaker 3>didn't get caught, Dak Prescott. So anybody that's spit this season.
<v Speaker 1>See, this is why we bring Robin. He brings insight
<v Speaker 1>that no one else is going to give us excellent
<v Speaker 1>call in the spitting. Stop spitting on people, it's disgusting,
<v Speaker 1>excellent call in the spidding. Mike, who do you have?
<v Speaker 1>Who's your dirtiest player?
<v Speaker 4>I honestly this could be back to back years for
<v Speaker 4>this guy A zero Elsa here.
<v Speaker 3>Uh no, you're right.
<v Speaker 4>For the Texans? Uh yeah, dirty as anything?
<v Speaker 3>Right? I mean you.
<v Speaker 4>Remember they will la yes, yeah, yeah, he got he
<v Speaker 4>got many many flags this year for unnecessary roughness. So
<v Speaker 4>I think he's he's he's got to be the dirtiest player.
<v Speaker 1>Good call. I like that one, Larry, what about you,
<v Speaker 1>dirtiest player of the year? Who do you have?
<v Speaker 3>Well?
<v Speaker 2>I took it literally, and so I'm taking the guy
<v Speaker 2>who's on the commercial when his mom tells him his
<v Speaker 2>uniform smells like hot dog water.
<v Speaker 1>Oh yeah, yeah, I don't know who it is. I
<v Speaker 1>don't know that either, but I know what you're talking about.
<v Speaker 1>Not fair.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, no, I I did take Carter, you know, he
<v Speaker 2>led the season off doing that. Yeah, it just kind
<v Speaker 2>of stuck in everybody's minds, was it. I guess it's dirty.
<v Speaker 2>But you know what we don't have as a is
<v Speaker 2>a true bad guy in the league right now, like
<v Speaker 2>like en Domica two. Right, Yeah, yeah, everybody's playing nice.
<v Speaker 2>I guess now. I know, you know, that's probably not
<v Speaker 2>the truth. People getting the you know, little dust.
<v Speaker 1>Ups here, but yeah, we don't really, we don't really
<v Speaker 1>have that kind of big I've got a guy here.
<v Speaker 1>Tennessee Titans have a guy by the name of Jeffrey Simmons.
<v Speaker 1>Four unnecessary roughest, three defensive off sides, two neutral zone
<v Speaker 1>in fractions, one unsportsmanlanted conduct, one encroachment, one illegal formation.
<v Speaker 1>Jeffrey Simmons had a rough year, and so for that,
<v Speaker 1>my dirtiest player of the year will be Stefan Diggs.
<v Speaker 1>We move on to most Overrated Player of the Year,
<v Speaker 1>rob overrated player. Who do you got?
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, I'm gonna say Drake may on this one, and
<v Speaker 3>not just the Super Bowl obviously. You know, good season
<v Speaker 3>somehow he was runner up for the MVP. But we
<v Speaker 3>have to be careful about quarterbacks in the early success
<v Speaker 3>I'll use C. J. Stroud and as an example. Fair.
<v Speaker 3>You know, early on looked like he was the guy,
<v Speaker 3>and then you know a couple of years later you
<v Speaker 3>see that you know how it turned out in the playoffs.
<v Speaker 3>So Drake May definitely good. But I just think the
<v Speaker 3>hype is moving, has moved a little a little, a
<v Speaker 3>little too fast for him.
<v Speaker 1>That's probably fair. It seemed like it really started to
<v Speaker 1>ramp up. You look at what he did in the playoffs.
<v Speaker 1>It was atrocious and they were still Like I heard
<v Speaker 1>Bill Simmons talking before the Super Bowl, like, dude, Drake
<v Speaker 1>May is about to light the Seahawks up, and I'm like,
<v Speaker 1>you've been watching right, we have eyes. He barely beat
<v Speaker 1>Jared Stidham. Okay, Mike, who's your most overrated player of
<v Speaker 1>the year.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah.
<v Speaker 4>I liked the Drake maypick. Maybe not quite as high profile,
<v Speaker 4>but just just I believe last year signed a fifty
<v Speaker 4>million dollars deal. Jerry Judy, where's he he? He absolutely
<v Speaker 4>flees the Browns.
<v Speaker 1>I mean, yes, yes he did. I don't know how
<v Speaker 1>he has a job he has done such a poor,
<v Speaker 1>poor job everywhere he's been. Yeah, Jerry Judy's getting away
<v Speaker 1>with some some money that he probably doesn't deserve. Larry,
<v Speaker 1>what about you? Most over a Blair Well.
<v Speaker 2>I was thought about Drake may but you know, and
<v Speaker 2>he'll get hype and he did this year too. I thought.
<v Speaker 2>I also thought about c J. Stroud because people still
<v Speaker 2>love him and think he's, you know, really really good.
<v Speaker 1>I don't know about here.
<v Speaker 2>And then I was gonna say every wide receiver who's
<v Speaker 2>received a big contract because they just disappear man, you know,
<v Speaker 2>too many to name there. So I went with Baker Mayfield.
<v Speaker 2>You know, I just you know, I would watch him,
<v Speaker 2>I would hear, you know, the great things about what
<v Speaker 2>he's doing in Tampa Bay. I just don't think he's
<v Speaker 2>of that caliber, and I think he's ranked too high
<v Speaker 2>in many people's pay. So I put Baker Mayfield.
<v Speaker 1>That's probably accurate. I had to go with a guy
<v Speaker 1>that it probably doesn't really deserve it if he hadn't
<v Speaker 1>got put into the Pro Bowl. But the Cleveland Browns
<v Speaker 1>quarterback Shador Sanders getting into the Pro Bowl again, we
<v Speaker 1>can just eliminate the Pro Bowl at this point when
<v Speaker 1>Brion four as a starter, he completed fifty six percent
<v Speaker 1>of his passes, that is in tebow area. He had
<v Speaker 1>seven touchdowns and ten interceptions.
<v Speaker 2>Well you know what that means, clan, He's going on
<v Speaker 2>the Cleveland Ring of Fame, you know beginning Well.
<v Speaker 1>He probably he probably should for the record. By the way,
<v Speaker 1>Titan's quarterback rookie cam Ward he completed like sixty percent
<v Speaker 1>of his passes. He had fifteen touchdowns and seven interceptions.
<v Speaker 1>But his dad isn't Dean. I don't get I don't
<v Speaker 1>understand how in the world Shadeur got it. It felt
<v Speaker 1>like a joke. It felt like, Hey, ask the ugly
<v Speaker 1>girl to the problem, will all laugh. I don't get it.
<v Speaker 1>I don't understand. But something went on. Okay, Rob, Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>did you hitting kind of close?
<v Speaker 3>For me?
<v Speaker 1>Oh? Who I should have prom Oh, Rob, who's your
<v Speaker 1>worst head coach? We're gonna head out the worst head
<v Speaker 1>coach award?
<v Speaker 2>Uh.
<v Speaker 3>For me, this was a tough one because I thought
<v Speaker 3>this was a good hire at the time. I'm gonna say,
<v Speaker 3>Aaron Glenn with the Jets.
<v Speaker 1>That went so bad?
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, I know it's the Jets, and you know there's
<v Speaker 3>a question there about just the organization and the talent.
<v Speaker 3>But it was just a couple of games there, just
<v Speaker 3>questionable calls, questionable game plans. Just didn't seem like he
<v Speaker 3>had it, had a good grasp on things. So for me,
<v Speaker 3>it's gonna be Aaron Glenn.
<v Speaker 1>He did some bizarre things. And I think back to
<v Speaker 1>the to the game against the Broncos when they get
<v Speaker 1>the ball back, he's calling time outs. I don't He
<v Speaker 1>did some things that just blew my mind. I don't
<v Speaker 1>know what he was doing. He that was bizarre. I
<v Speaker 1>don't understand me. He's drinking. I don't know. He's over
<v Speaker 1>in England. Mikeku's your worst head coach of the year.
<v Speaker 4>I don't know how Aaron Glenn didn't get fired.
<v Speaker 1>I don't either. He was horrible.
<v Speaker 4>I'm seriously, he was the worst coach.
<v Speaker 3>Of the year.
<v Speaker 1>Is he still has a job.
<v Speaker 4>He did not know what the hell he was doing.
<v Speaker 4>I mean, mind blowing, not not you know, to take
<v Speaker 4>the easy route and just piggyback on Rob. I'll see
<v Speaker 4>Pete Carroll. I mean that was he actually got fired.
<v Speaker 4>But yeah, good coaching history in Seattle. But boy, what
<v Speaker 4>happens when you go to the Raiders and just it
<v Speaker 4>was a dumpster fire there.
<v Speaker 1>Oh it was so bad. He looked like he just
<v Speaker 1>didn't even know what they were having to face him
<v Speaker 1>toward the field.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah it was bad. Yeah, he was Yeah, it's time
<v Speaker 4>to go.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, yeah, for sure, Larry. Worst coach of the year.
<v Speaker 2>Who do you have, uh, the one who lost a
<v Speaker 2>thirty point lead, Brian dave.
<v Speaker 1>All that was rough. Yeah, I get it here in
<v Speaker 1>Denver and you were you were there.
<v Speaker 2>And I look, I'm sure he's a good head coach,
<v Speaker 2>but I saw it with my own eyes, and give
<v Speaker 2>me a thirty point lead and I could probably hold it,
<v Speaker 2>you know.
<v Speaker 1>You know, it was funny because you talk about that game,
<v Speaker 1>there was about six plays. If you make any of them,
<v Speaker 1>you still win. He didn't make any of them. I'm
<v Speaker 1>going to give my worst head coach to Tennessee's head
<v Speaker 1>coach Brian Callahan, who that was one of the worst
<v Speaker 1>things I've ever witnessed. He was doing things. He didn't
<v Speaker 1>know when to take a time out, he didn't know
<v Speaker 1>when to call for a field but he didn't know what.
<v Speaker 1>I don't know. He made me kind of look at
<v Speaker 1>at Nathaniel Hackett and be like, maybe he's not the
<v Speaker 1>worst head coach I've ever seen, because Brian Callahan that
<v Speaker 1>was unbelievable to me. All Right, we're moving forward, Rob,
<v Speaker 1>who was your worst quarterback of the NFL season.
<v Speaker 3>I'm gonna give this one to JJ McCarthy for.
<v Speaker 1>The Vikings one and only.
<v Speaker 3>But I want to say only, like seventy percent of
<v Speaker 3>that is him. Uh, some of this is just the
<v Speaker 3>Vikings organization kind of getting rid of everybody else, cousins
<v Speaker 3>and everyone and saying, you know, McCarthy's the guy, he's
<v Speaker 3>gonna here you go. They have to take a little
<v Speaker 3>bit of blame for that. But uh, yeah, JJ McCarthy worst.
<v Speaker 1>QP, Mike, you got someone any any worse than JJ.
<v Speaker 3>McCarthy, Actually I do, do you?
<v Speaker 4>Justin fields?
<v Speaker 1>Justin fields?
<v Speaker 4>That game in Europe against Denver? What the hell was
<v Speaker 4>he doing? There were thirty five other pro quarterbacks that
<v Speaker 4>would have beat Denver that day.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, that's totally fair.
<v Speaker 4>I know that was one of the worst quarterback performances
<v Speaker 4>I've ever seen. And I watched you know Smith this year.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, you want to talk about a bad quarterback performance,
<v Speaker 1>Gino Smith leaves Seattle and they're like a nine and
<v Speaker 1>eight eight nine. They at Sam Darnold, get rid of
<v Speaker 1>him and go win a Super Bowl. All you have
<v Speaker 1>to do. Maybe the Raiders are going to be really,
<v Speaker 1>really good this year. Who's your first quarterback.
<v Speaker 3>Of the year.
<v Speaker 2>I don't have anyone by name, but any quarterback five
<v Speaker 2>six or smaller is my worst quarterback of the year.
<v Speaker 4>Doug Flutie wins again, and there's a few of them,
<v Speaker 4>but right so, you know whatever, I just don't understand
<v Speaker 4>the small quarterback infatuation.
<v Speaker 1>I am going to I'm going to second Rob's opinion.
<v Speaker 1>JJ McCarthy was horrible, and yes, the Vikings have to
<v Speaker 1>own this because they thought they could just, you know,
<v Speaker 1>give him the keys and he would just drive off
<v Speaker 1>and win the race, which sounds like maybe you could.
<v Speaker 1>You got Aaron Jones, you got Justin Jefferson, you got
<v Speaker 1>Jordan Adison, you got TJ. Howkinson, you got a ton
<v Speaker 1>of weapons. Holy cow, fifty seven percent completion. He was horrible,
<v Speaker 1>had no idea what he was doing. And now, if
<v Speaker 1>you're the Viking, what do you do? Are you gonna
<v Speaker 1>run it back with him.
<v Speaker 3>This next year?
<v Speaker 1>Can you? I don't know that the Vikings really botched
<v Speaker 1>us all right, stonehands worst receiver in the NFL? Go ahead, Rob,
<v Speaker 1>who do you got?
<v Speaker 3>Oh? This was close for me between AJ Brown and
<v Speaker 3>CD Lamb. Ultimately, I'm gonna give it to AJ Brown though.
<v Speaker 3>You know, you can't keep talking in the media about
<v Speaker 3>I want the ball, give you the ball, and then
<v Speaker 3>when they throw it to you, you drop it. So AJ Brown.
<v Speaker 1>For me, fair, fair, I totally agree, Mike, what you
<v Speaker 1>got worst receiver?
<v Speaker 4>Well, unfortunately we here in Denver have two of the
<v Speaker 4>top ten. So yeah, we grouped the Denver receivers as
<v Speaker 4>a group, we'd be right up there. But I just
<v Speaker 4>I just went with straight statistics. And the most this
<v Speaker 4>year was actually Jameis and Williams.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah he had a bunch and my wife had ooops, Larry,
<v Speaker 1>who you got worst receiver?
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, not to buy all on Rob, but yeah, A J.
<v Speaker 3>Brown.
<v Speaker 2>I mean when it mattered the most, right, and and
<v Speaker 2>that's when we're watching. So that's what kind of sticks
<v Speaker 2>in your mind. You can't talk that game and not
<v Speaker 2>and not back it up. So that's who I am.
<v Speaker 1>I will go with Mike's earlier target, and I will
<v Speaker 1>go Cleveland Brown's Jerry Judy targeted one hundred and six
<v Speaker 1>times had fifty catches. That's actually pretty amazing. Jerry Judy
<v Speaker 1>is awful at football. All Right, we're moving on who
<v Speaker 1>is your best free agent bust rob? Who's your busty
<v Speaker 1>free agent of the year.
<v Speaker 3>I went Evan Ingram on this one, and again, yeah,
<v Speaker 3>part of this might just be the team a little
<v Speaker 3>bit because there was just so much type around. You know,
<v Speaker 3>this was the guy, this was the piece we needed
<v Speaker 3>and that just really didn't pan out. So I'm gonna
<v Speaker 3>say you have Evan Ingram.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, Evan Ingram, hear and Denver. We thought he was
<v Speaker 1>going to come in and take over. Hey, he's going
<v Speaker 1>to be the next Jimmy Graham. Turnout he's more like
<v Speaker 1>Billy Graham. He had one touchdown all year. Mike, who
<v Speaker 1>do you have bust of the year free agency wise?
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, Evan Ingram was a big one. So it was
<v Speaker 4>Drake Greenlaw this year because that was a hula fungo.
<v Speaker 4>Was an amazing pick. But uh, I'm actually gonna double
<v Speaker 4>dip dip and say justin fields free agents signing Chet
<v Speaker 4>that's not fair coming in and being straight up garbage.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, he was terrible.
<v Speaker 1>Larry, you got a busty free agent for US.
<v Speaker 2>I have green Law, right, Okay, Yeah, I think Ingram
<v Speaker 2>was a close second, and it kind of uh wild
<v Speaker 2>that Denver I think had you know the best I think, right, Mike,
<v Speaker 2>And then uh but Ingram was bad. But I thought
<v Speaker 2>green Law could have really made a big difference, and
<v Speaker 2>he just didn't didn't really show up game over game.
<v Speaker 1>So wow, we all went with broncos I've got having
<v Speaker 1>Ingram as well. Did not go very well for the
<v Speaker 1>Denver free agent signings. Aside from like Mike said, Ufanga
<v Speaker 1>had had a phenomenal season, he might have been at
<v Speaker 1>rookie bust of the year and that was a little
<v Speaker 1>bit tough. But when I went through and tried to
<v Speaker 1>look for that, a little bit hard to find a
<v Speaker 1>rookie bust because how much are you really, you know, expecting,
<v Speaker 1>how much you're really planning on rob who's your rookie
<v Speaker 1>bust of the year?
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, to your point, again, some of this is just
<v Speaker 3>the team was bad. But uh, I'm gonna with Ashton
<v Speaker 3>gent down there at the ring. Like I said, I
<v Speaker 3>think you know, his best days are clearly going to
<v Speaker 3>be ahead of him. Sure, Like I said, that team
<v Speaker 3>was kind of a mess, but didn't see like a
<v Speaker 3>whole lot of flashes really, I mean in the middle
<v Speaker 3>of the season, like a little bit, but just kind of,
<v Speaker 3>you know, just kind of faded out. And like I said,
<v Speaker 3>a lot of that's probably with the you know, because
<v Speaker 3>of the team.
<v Speaker 1>But I'm gonna say, gent okay, Mike rookie bust of
<v Speaker 1>the Year? Who do you have for.
<v Speaker 4>Where he was picked and how he performed, especially when
<v Speaker 4>the lights were on Will Campbell?
<v Speaker 1>Will Campbell struggled. Yeah, he was bad.
<v Speaker 4>I mean fourth overall and wow, you if you're picked
<v Speaker 4>that high, you would expect to be average to above average,
<v Speaker 4>maybe as a tackle, and he was just he got worked.
<v Speaker 1>He looked like a Tyrannosaurus Rex out there trying to
<v Speaker 1>stay in front of people. Larry, who do you have
<v Speaker 1>rookie bust of the Year.
<v Speaker 2>I have Matthew Goldman. I'm gad he was going to
<v Speaker 2>be better, as shown by my by electing him on
<v Speaker 2>my fantasy team, but he did not. And you know,
<v Speaker 2>he theoretically has you know, top notch quarterback, good offense
<v Speaker 2>and uh so and where.
<v Speaker 1>You know, first round or so, and it kind of
<v Speaker 1>looked like when when they got him. When he went
<v Speaker 1>to Green Bay, You're like, oh, what a perfect fit.
<v Speaker 1>But he's gonna he's gonna go there and explode. He
<v Speaker 1>didn't really do much of anything. This is totally unfair
<v Speaker 1>the guy I'm going to pick, but remember where he
<v Speaker 1>was taken. Again, you're talking about a top five pick,
<v Speaker 1>and the Jacksonville Jaguars had talked about playing Travis Hunter
<v Speaker 1>on both sides of the ball, but it turns out
<v Speaker 1>being one hundred and ten pounds doesn't actually lends itself
<v Speaker 1>to playing both ways in an NFL football game. Travis
<v Speaker 1>Hunter played seven games. He had twenty eight catches. Honestly, defensively,
<v Speaker 1>he might have been worse. So yeah, I went with
<v Speaker 1>Travis Hunter. He was injured, I get that, but when
<v Speaker 1>he was on the field, he really wasn't that impressive.
<v Speaker 1>Got one more award to hand out our final award
<v Speaker 1>of the day, Rob, who was your it's probably time
<v Speaker 1>to retire guy this year?
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, I think Rogers at the safe answer. But I'm
<v Speaker 3>gonna go off the board here and I'm gonna give
<v Speaker 3>you Kyler Murray probably. I don't think you really want
<v Speaker 3>to play, You really want to be a gamer. The
<v Speaker 3>way the season ended. Just just don't come back. Just
<v Speaker 3>go ahead, just go ahead and call it.
<v Speaker 1>Oh standing pick by Rob Kyler Murray, the little fellagains
<v Speaker 1>lit up. Mike. Who's your it's time to retire guy?
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, it's that's a great answer. I'm gonna take a
<v Speaker 4>little hanging fruit and see Aaron Rodgers.
<v Speaker 2>What are you doing?
<v Speaker 4>You're not You're not gonna win a super Bowl? This
<v Speaker 4>isn't you know. I just don't know what he's doing
<v Speaker 4>out there. You know, his teammates, you know, are happy
<v Speaker 4>and they and they tackle him and he gives give
<v Speaker 4>the get off my lawn speech, and he's just he
<v Speaker 4>needs to be done.
<v Speaker 1>He's a grumpy old man, that's for sure. Larry, time
<v Speaker 1>to retire. Who do you have that hasn't put in
<v Speaker 1>their their resignation quite yet?
<v Speaker 2>Well, I would say Rogers, But I actually want to
<v Speaker 2>watch him next year struggle. So it's just fun for me.
<v Speaker 3>You know.
<v Speaker 1>Sure.
<v Speaker 2>Travis Kelcey, I don't know if he's gonna want to
<v Speaker 2>come back next year. Maybe he will. He looks like
<v Speaker 2>he's having fun, but I just don't know that he
<v Speaker 2>can add the level of quality player that Kansas City needs.
<v Speaker 2>So I I think it's probably.
<v Speaker 1>Time for Andrews well, and he is a free agent.
<v Speaker 1>He's gonna cost him a little bit of money. If
<v Speaker 1>they are gonna keep him, Weiss is gonna give him
<v Speaker 1>a hometown discount. I would say Travis Kelsey is not a
<v Speaker 1>bad guy to'll be looking at retirement. I went off
<v Speaker 1>the board as well. I considered Rogers. I did not
<v Speaker 1>consider Kyler, although that is genius. Hey, we already knew
<v Speaker 1>it here, and maybe that's why no one on this
<v Speaker 1>panel picked it, because we already knew it. Russell Wilson,
<v Speaker 1>it is pastime. Like you are about four years too late.
<v Speaker 1>He started three games this year, completed fifty eight percent
<v Speaker 1>of his passes, that is schadure territory, three touchdowns, three interceptions.
<v Speaker 1>He went zero and three in those games and looked
<v Speaker 1>horrible in those games. Russell Wilson, it is beyond time
<v Speaker 1>for you to give it up. A couple of things
<v Speaker 1>just to tie up, just to finish up and kind
<v Speaker 1>of start looking towards the offseason. The draft order going
<v Speaker 1>into this April's NFL Draft, the Las Vegas Raiders are
<v Speaker 1>on top, so we'll see how they screwed up. The
<v Speaker 1>New York Jets are at number two, who I don't
<v Speaker 1>expect much from them either. The Arizona Cardinals are at three,
<v Speaker 1>Tennessee at four, the Giants are at five, the Browns
<v Speaker 1>at six. Washington gets a seven pick, the New Orleans
<v Speaker 1>Saints get the eight pick. The Kansas City Chiefs come
<v Speaker 1>in at number nine, and the Cincinnati Bengals come in
<v Speaker 1>at ten. I don't know that this is a great
<v Speaker 1>draft class. I'm not sure that it is. I think
<v Speaker 1>next year's will probably be way more appealing. But there
<v Speaker 1>is your draft order. I'm assuming that we're going to
<v Speaker 1>see the Raiders pick beingnaut A quarterback Fernandez. What kind
<v Speaker 1>of culture shock is that poor kid about to be
<v Speaker 1>in FORO I mean, he already looks like he's homeschooled.
<v Speaker 1>What in the world is he gonna do in Vegas?
<v Speaker 1>Like he's gonna be wearing his helmet out on the strip.
<v Speaker 1>That is horrifying. To think about a couple other things
<v Speaker 1>to think about free agents. A couple free agentcs that
<v Speaker 1>are out there. You know, Ed Rusher, Trey Hendrickson, Ed Rusher,
<v Speaker 1>Joey Bosa gonna be free agents. Mike Evans wide receiver
<v Speaker 1>out there along with Deebo Samuel, Well, maybe the guy
<v Speaker 1>who ate Deebo Samuel.
<v Speaker 3>I don't know.
<v Speaker 1>Tight end David Najoku's out there. Cornerback Trayvon Diggs. There
<v Speaker 1>are a few offensive linemen in free agency, Braden Smith,
<v Speaker 1>Jonah Williams just to him a few. Free agency is
<v Speaker 1>not where you build your team. Could you get a
<v Speaker 1>couple of additions and maybe help your team? It's possible.
<v Speaker 1>And then we look at salary cap space. The Tennessee
<v Speaker 1>Titans right now have ninety nine million dollars in cap space.
<v Speaker 1>The Las Vegas Raiders have eighty seven million dollars. The
<v Speaker 1>New York Jets have eighty two million dollars. Why do
<v Speaker 1>I bring that up? Because no one wants to go
<v Speaker 1>to those places. So what they'll end up doing is
<v Speaker 1>they'll end up overpaying on one guy to get him
<v Speaker 1>to come there. Hey, big splashy you know news, But
<v Speaker 1>who cares? Because nobody wants to be there, you're not
<v Speaker 1>gonna have any success there. At the other end of
<v Speaker 1>the spectrum, the Kansas City Chiefs right now are about
<v Speaker 1>fifty seven million dollars over the cap. Okay, having said that,
<v Speaker 1>gonna go around the horn one more time, Rob, you
<v Speaker 1>got a team we should be watching going into next
<v Speaker 1>year that you're kind of keeping an eye on that
<v Speaker 1>just might be a team to watch.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, I'll give you. I'll give you one on each side. AFC.
<v Speaker 3>I like the Chargers. Lots of injuries this season, Mike McDaniel,
<v Speaker 3>they'll failed coach, I think, still a good offensive mind,
<v Speaker 3>so they could be interesting. And then NFC side, I'm
<v Speaker 3>gonna say Packers. I know there's still some questions about love,
<v Speaker 3>but it just seems like there's enough there that they
<v Speaker 3>might be able to pull it together. So those are
<v Speaker 3>my two early early watches.
<v Speaker 1>Good call, I've got those both of my list actually
<v Speaker 1>right now, Mike, who is uh? Who are your teams
<v Speaker 1>to watch?
<v Speaker 3>Yeah?
<v Speaker 4>I unfortunately I like the Chargers as well, if they
<v Speaker 4>can stay healthy. Taken keep Herbert sat right, I mean
<v Speaker 4>that it was just unbelievable what he went through this year.
<v Speaker 4>And then yeah, maybe adding a little extra wrinkle with
<v Speaker 4>McDaniels o C there. You know, they lost their defensive coordinator,
<v Speaker 4>but Harball's not going to let that defense go anywhere.
<v Speaker 4>So I think they're gonna be a tough out this year.
<v Speaker 4>I think, maybe not quite to the playoffs, But I
<v Speaker 4>think the Giants are going to make a pretty big
<v Speaker 4>leg lead this year. If you know, Captain Headbutt can
<v Speaker 4>come back to full strength, and yeah, you know Dart
<v Speaker 4>I Dart I think can be a pretty good quarterback.
<v Speaker 4>He might be a great young wide receiver, some talent
<v Speaker 4>on the defense. They could make some noise this year.
<v Speaker 1>I would agree with that, Larry, What about you? Who
<v Speaker 1>are the teams to watch going?
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, it's interesting. I had the Chargers too, right, and
<v Speaker 2>I didn't look at any teams you know, who were
<v Speaker 2>who won their divisions or anything like that, because they're
<v Speaker 2>already theoretically good. But the team I think I'm most
<v Speaker 2>interested in watching his Buffalo's going to be interesting, feels
<v Speaker 2>and they don't have a lot of cap space, but no,
<v Speaker 2>it feels like it's it's like next level do or die.
<v Speaker 2>They just either have to get it done or they
<v Speaker 2>got to blow it up. And I don't know what
<v Speaker 2>that looks like, and I'm sure they wouldn't do that anyway,
<v Speaker 2>But man, you know how many years can you go
<v Speaker 2>expecting to get to the Super Bowl and win it
<v Speaker 2>and just not getting it done. With Josh Allen now
<v Speaker 2>I head coaching change. It feels like it's all like
<v Speaker 2>time to go all in on this season.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, no, you're right. Buffalo sits right around ten million
<v Speaker 1>dollars over the cap right now, so they're going to
<v Speaker 1>have some nothing. They can't change that. Nothing that can't
<v Speaker 1>all of a sudden, you know, flip. But yeah, Buffalo
<v Speaker 1>is going to be a team. I'm very interested to watch.
<v Speaker 1>I'm interested to watch Jacksonville little bit. I want to
<v Speaker 1>see what they're going to do in the offseason. I
<v Speaker 1>want to see, you know, they're going to bring anybody
<v Speaker 1>else in because that team looked like a team we
<v Speaker 1>talked about it going into the playoffs. Hey, they might
<v Speaker 1>be a team to be a contender. Kind of want
<v Speaker 1>to keep an eye on them. Mike talked about the Giants.
<v Speaker 1>I had them as well, and I do like the Chargers.
<v Speaker 1>I just that franchise to snake bitten. But if they
<v Speaker 1>could stay healthy, you upgrade the offense a little bit. Obviously,
<v Speaker 1>we know Hardbaugh's pretty good. He's going to get them
<v Speaker 1>playing tough and being physical. So yeah, I all those
<v Speaker 1>teams that I think are are going to be at
<v Speaker 1>least in it. All right, gentlemen, the NFL season is over.
<v Speaker 1>College football is over. It is depressing. I am sad.
<v Speaker 1>At least the days are starting to get longer, though,
<v Speaker 1>and so that is a positive.
<v Speaker 3>Rob.
<v Speaker 1>Do you have any closing thoughts? Do you have any
<v Speaker 1>bit of brightness that you can bring our way, because
<v Speaker 1>now you've got a long, long wait until we get
<v Speaker 1>football again.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, I know. This is sad, sad day. March madness,
<v Speaker 3>March madness. Yeah, yeah, keep an eye on that. And
<v Speaker 3>then yeah, once once March Madness is over, that's that's
<v Speaker 3>that's that's what it is over. Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, yeah, then I'm going on vacation because then I'm
<v Speaker 1>there's nothing else to do. Mike, what about you? Any
<v Speaker 1>final thoughts? Anything you got to put us off into
<v Speaker 1>the next year on a good note?
<v Speaker 4>Yeah. I mean we're fortunate here in Colorado where we've
<v Speaker 4>got two other franchises, although both of them kind of
<v Speaker 4>stumbled into their mid season breaks, but both are looking promising.
<v Speaker 4>You know, a couple of things Nuggets need to get
<v Speaker 4>figured out, as I think, just need to get healthy,
<v Speaker 4>but both of them should be going deep into the playoffs.
<v Speaker 4>So definitely looking forward to that as a substitute from
<v Speaker 4>our normal football shenanigans.
<v Speaker 1>It's just a rough time of year. All right, Larry,
<v Speaker 1>finish this up. What closing thoughts? Might you have got
<v Speaker 1>anything for us, any positive news to look forward to,
<v Speaker 1>as we have nothing else sportwise to look forward to
<v Speaker 1>for a number of months.
<v Speaker 2>Wait, first, pitch is right around the corner. Client, So
<v Speaker 2>what are you talking about? Oh you want a good news?
<v Speaker 2>Soccer O good news. Yeah, it's gonna snow. We still
<v Speaker 2>got more Olympics to watch. You know, everything's good. Like
<v Speaker 2>you said, days are getting longer, complain about.
<v Speaker 1>Here's my problem with the Winter Olympics. And take this
<v Speaker 1>for whatever it's worth. But aside from like the really
<v Speaker 1>like the skating kind of stuff, I look at all
<v Speaker 1>of it, like, give me a few drinks and I
<v Speaker 1>could do it.
<v Speaker 2>So well, who's saying they're not?
<v Speaker 1>Oh I know, Hey, I'm watching curling. And if you're
<v Speaker 1>telling me those are athletes, trust me, I'm an Olympic athlete,
<v Speaker 1>because there ain't no way those people are athletes. I yeah,
<v Speaker 1>that's that's a whole other level there. But yeah, the
<v Speaker 1>Winter Olympics. I'm watching. I won't. I'm watching because there's
<v Speaker 1>nothing else to watch.
<v Speaker 2>But we can I just say one thing, about the Olympics.
<v Speaker 1>Please do pound for pound like.
<v Speaker 2>The athletes are about a thousand times more attractive than
<v Speaker 2>Summer Olympics. Can go ahead and say that.
<v Speaker 1>I'm not opposed to that. They saw. I saw that.
<v Speaker 1>I ran out of condoms already, So I guess there's
<v Speaker 1>something to what Larry's saying because of my goodness.
<v Speaker 2>I mean, you know, and not just the skaters, you know,
<v Speaker 2>the hot skaters, but the speed skaters severely handsome, you know,
<v Speaker 2>like Italian skiers. Come on, let's let's be honest.
<v Speaker 1>Hey, I saw with that Italian pole vaulter did in
<v Speaker 1>the Summer Games. I don't know, he cheated and used
<v Speaker 1>another people. Yeah, he had a few fans too, So
<v Speaker 1>I don't know that. The Winter Olympics are just are
<v Speaker 1>just odd to me. But they have already run out
<v Speaker 1>of condoms.
<v Speaker 2>What it's all about sharing the body warm with?
<v Speaker 1>Apparently apparently somebody you gotta stay warm somehow, gentlemen, I
<v Speaker 1>want to thank you as usual. I appreciate all that
<v Speaker 1>you contribute to the dail, he goes, can't wait to
<v Speaker 1>have you back again sometime soon. Hey, next week in
<v Speaker 1>the desk, march madness is coming and I know it's
<v Speaker 1>not quite here yet, but it's coming quickly. Well, I'm
<v Speaker 1>chasing a guest that is going to bring a very
<v Speaker 1>unique angle on March Madness because he has written a
<v Speaker 1>book about one of the greatest March Madness stars ever.
<v Speaker 1>Trust me, you will not want to miss it. Be
<v Speaker 1>sure you check out The Dose next week, and be
<v Speaker 1>sure you let a friend know do the same. Hell,
<v Speaker 1>I want to say thank you to each member of
<v Speaker 1>our illustrious panel, Rob, Mike and Larry for their contributions
<v Speaker 1>to The Daily Dose. And I want to say thank

<v Speaker 1>of this without you. I will see y'all next Wednesday.
