<v Speaker 4>I did not like this book. I gave it a

<v Speaker 4>three and a half, which is crazy for me.

<v Speaker 4>So I like that the FMC was just like a

<v Speaker 4>cool FMC, but there was just tropes. It had all

<v Speaker 4>the tropes that I hate. There's miscommunication tropes. It was

<v Speaker 4>just not the vibe for me. By the end, I

<v Speaker 4>was praising Jesus that I was finished with it.

<v Speaker 1>I also gave it a three and a half. I

<v Speaker 1>feel like this book was so hyped up. This is

<v Speaker 1>my first time reading it, and I feel like it

<v Speaker 1>was so big on book talk and people were talking

<v Speaker 1>about how wild and crazy it was. I don't want

<v Speaker 1>to like roast anyone, but like, anybody who thinks this

<v Speaker 1>book is crazy and wild is like.

<v Speaker 2>A vanilla ass reader. So I went into this.

<v Speaker 1>Expecting crazy antics and I was like, oh, this is

<v Speaker 1>a regular ass book. Yeah. Misery is our FMC and

<v Speaker 1>she's a vampire and she's getting married to someone she's

<v Speaker 1>never met. He's a werewolf, the alpha of his pack,

<v Speaker 1>it's a political marriage to try and form some peace

<v Speaker 1>between the two species.

<v Speaker 2>I thought her name was so fun.

<v Speaker 5>I love her name.

<v Speaker 2>I do like that.

<v Speaker 1>As she walks down the aisle, they see each other

<v Speaker 1>for the first time, and she can see the hatred

<v Speaker 1>on his face. Everyone thinks he'll kill her within weeks,

<v Speaker 1>but she has to do this. She reaches him and

<v Speaker 1>trips on the cobblestone, but he grabs her arm and

<v Speaker 1>pulls her up, pressing their fronts together, and she feels

<v Speaker 1>like prey. She can smell him, and she thinks to herself,

<v Speaker 1>he'd make for such good blood. Meanwhile, he's inhaling her

<v Speaker 1>scent right back. He inhales several times in rapid succession,

<v Speaker 1>filling his lungs, Pulling me in his hand, moves up

<v Speaker 1>from my arm to the dip of my throat, pressing

<v Speaker 1>into one of my markings. A guttural sound rises from

<v Speaker 1>someplace low in his chest.

<v Speaker 2>Making my knees weak.

<v Speaker 1>Then he opens his mouth, and I know that he's

<v Speaker 1>going to tear me to pieces. He's going to maul me,

<v Speaker 1>He's going to devour me. You, he says, voice deep,

<v Speaker 1>almost too low to hear, How the fuck do you

<v Speaker 1>smell like this, He says, you smell like shit. Why

<v Speaker 1>the entire first chunk of the book, I was just

<v Speaker 1>thinking of Edward sitting next to Bella in chemistry, where he's.

<v Speaker 4>Like ooh, b the ooh.

<v Speaker 1>Then the ceremonies complete and their officially husband and wife.

<v Speaker 1>Six weeks before the wedding, Misery had been pretending to

<v Speaker 1>be a human with a human job and human friends

<v Speaker 1>when she got a call to visit her father at

<v Speaker 1>the vampire headquarters. He tells her that recently, four young

<v Speaker 1>vampire boys disappeared after swimming across the river that separates

<v Speaker 1>the vampire territory and the werewolf territory. The two species

<v Speaker 1>almost went to war, but then the boys were returned alive.

<v Speaker 1>That's when the vampires found out there was a new

<v Speaker 1>alpha over there, and the alpha and Misery's father set

<v Speaker 1>up a meeting. During the meeting, Misery's father realized that

<v Speaker 1>this leader was a good one and suggested an interspecies wedding.

<v Speaker 2>So her dad is like.

<v Speaker 1>The leader of the vampires, okay, and we kind of

<v Speaker 1>learned why she's over in the human realm. So when

<v Speaker 1>she was a child, she got sent over to the

<v Speaker 1>human realm as collateral, and a human child was sent

<v Speaker 1>over to the vampires as collateral so that if anyone

<v Speaker 1>did anything to break any of the treaties or anything,

<v Speaker 1>they would kill their collateral. Oh all right, So her

<v Speaker 1>dad was like, all right, you're collateral, seeing you later.

<v Speaker 2>Bye.

<v Speaker 1>Their relationships not great, no, I would assume. So in

<v Speaker 1>their history there have only been five interspecies marriages, and

<v Speaker 1>they all coincided with periods of peace between the two territories.

<v Speaker 1>She's furious when he tells her that he offered her

<v Speaker 1>up to be the one marrying the werewolf. She will

<v Speaker 1>be living with them for one year, and the werewolves

<v Speaker 1>will be sending over one of theirs during that time

<v Speaker 1>as collateral, so they're still doing the collateral thing. She

<v Speaker 1>tries to refuse, and he tells her that low Morland

<v Speaker 1>will be her husband. Something about the name shocks her

<v Speaker 1>into submission, and she resigns to her fate. We're back

<v Speaker 1>in the present and Misery. She also goes by missy

<v Speaker 1>Is at her wedding reception and she's kind of sneaking

<v Speaker 1>around listening to what people are talking about. It's mostly

<v Speaker 1>one species talking about the other and vice versa. But

<v Speaker 1>she hears a heated discussion between her husband and another

<v Speaker 1>werewolf about how Missy is something more than what they

<v Speaker 1>originally thought. Why. I don't know, She doesn't know, But

<v Speaker 1>then her attention is caught by a toddler werewolf and

<v Speaker 1>a toddler vampire fighting over a broken action figure. Low

<v Speaker 1>quickly steps in and diffuses it, giving the vampire baby

<v Speaker 1>his toy back, and gives a stern talking to to

<v Speaker 1>the baby werewolf before ruffling his hair and sending him

<v Speaker 1>on his way. It's time for their first dance, and

<v Speaker 1>Misery's like, damn, I wish he didn't think I was

<v Speaker 1>so stinky, because he actually smells really good. Because she's like,

<v Speaker 1>do I have like bo like what is going on?

<v Speaker 1>Because this was sniffser and then is like repulsed by her.

<v Speaker 2>He's like, yucky, I'd be so offended. She is offended.

<v Speaker 6>Yeah, I'd cry.

<v Speaker 1>But then he starts talking to her about her dad,

<v Speaker 1>and he's asking why he doesn't feel the need to

<v Speaker 1>love or protect her because she got sent off as

<v Speaker 1>collateral as a child, so she's been living with the humans.

<v Speaker 2>It's a whole thing.

<v Speaker 1>She doesn't have an answer, and they have a little

<v Speaker 1>bit of back and forth about how they don't understand

<v Speaker 1>the other's motivations for the marriage, when suddenly someone yells

<v Speaker 1>you vampire bitch and pulls a knife on Missy, but

<v Speaker 1>Low snatches it lightning quick and saves her life. Basically

<v Speaker 1>Edward stopping that van from hitting Bella in the parking lot. Wow,

<v Speaker 1>her man, her Man, her man.

<v Speaker 2>Green.

<v Speaker 1>Blood trickles down his arm as he holds onto the blade,

<v Speaker 1>but he's not even phased, so he bleeds green.

<v Speaker 6>Oh what a color.

<v Speaker 1>The human waiter who attacked her is dragged off by security.

<v Speaker 1>Low breathes in deeply and tells her that for the

<v Speaker 1>next year they need to make sure they stay out

<v Speaker 1>of each other's way, and then he leaves her alone.

<v Speaker 1>At her own wedding reception. A few days later, she's

<v Speaker 1>snoozing in her new room when a were wolf child

<v Speaker 1>comes in and starts pestering her. We learn that her

<v Speaker 1>name is Anna and she's Low's sister, but a woman

<v Speaker 1>named Juno comes in and tells Missy to leave Anna

<v Speaker 1>alone and do not speak to her.

<v Speaker 2>I'd say, get your fucking kid. It came into my room,

<v Speaker 2>That's what she said.

<v Speaker 1>Basically, yeah, she's left alone in her room with just

<v Speaker 1>her best friend's cat that she's taken care of because

<v Speaker 1>her best friend, Serena, is a journalist and disappeared with

<v Speaker 1>no trace and cannot be found. So she was just

<v Speaker 1>left with this cat, and her and the cat fucking

<v Speaker 1>hate each other.

<v Speaker 5>Yeah, the cat hates her.

<v Speaker 2>Oh my god, to be around a cat that hates

<v Speaker 2>you terrifying.

<v Speaker 6>Yeah, I'd be.

<v Speaker 2>Scared to move. Yeah.

<v Speaker 1>The only clue is he ever found was a ripped

<v Speaker 1>out page from her planner with the name L. E.

<v Speaker 1>Morland written on it, and she's like, low Morland, my

<v Speaker 1>future husband, boom married, gonna find my friend?

<v Speaker 2>Huh Okay.

<v Speaker 1>The next day, she's getting a little house tour from

<v Speaker 1>a werewolf named Alex, who seems terrified of her, but

<v Speaker 1>she reassures him that she's really not any danger to them.

<v Speaker 1>The more she looks around, the more she likes the

<v Speaker 1>whole vibe of the house. She starts to ask if

<v Speaker 1>he's seen any humans around the house before trying to

<v Speaker 1>do some sleuthing about Serena, but he's like, no, there

<v Speaker 1>are no humans that hang out around here. And also,

<v Speaker 1>I don't know if I said it before, but Serena

<v Speaker 1>is a human hmm. She ditches Alex and starts snoopy

<v Speaker 1>through the house for any clues on her missing bestie,

<v Speaker 1>but she's interrupted going through Low's forbidden office by a

<v Speaker 1>werewolf named Max, telling her he didn't know vampires could

<v Speaker 1>be beautiful, and he means it as an insult.

<v Speaker 2>Yeah, I would take that as an insult, she does.

<v Speaker 1>He seems kind of disoriented, and she asks if he's okay,

<v Speaker 1>and he's like, how can I be okay when there's

<v Speaker 1>a vampire in my alpha's home And she's like, yeah, well,

<v Speaker 1>were wolves haven't been any better to us. So he

<v Speaker 1>lunges for her and grabs her, but she bites back,

<v Speaker 1>and he tells her he's gonna end her, so she

<v Speaker 1>busts out her fangs, and then a pair of strong

<v Speaker 1>hands grabs her and pins her to the wall.

<v Speaker 2>It's Low, her husband, what are you gonna do?

<v Speaker 1>His hands are wrapped around her neck, asking what the

<v Speaker 1>hell she thinks she's doing, And now there are other

<v Speaker 1>werewolves all around them, checking Max for wounds, and he

<v Speaker 1>tells them that Missy was the aggressor and that she

<v Speaker 1>was about to drink him dry, and now she's annoyed

<v Speaker 1>as fuck because he attacked her, she defended herself and

<v Speaker 1>then he's like, h scary vampire.

<v Speaker 2>I mean like, of course he did.

<v Speaker 1>I would be so mad, be crashing the fuck out,

<v Speaker 1>I'd be screaming, I'd be biting everyone. Low locks the

<v Speaker 1>two of them in the office alone and demands to

<v Speaker 1>know her side of the story, and she's like, he

<v Speaker 1>came at me first. And then Juno comes in and

<v Speaker 1>calls Missy a leech and starts spewing hate at her,

<v Speaker 1>but Low tells her to get out, and Juno's the

<v Speaker 1>same girl that walked in and was like, don't talk

<v Speaker 1>to Anna. Just helamineto her for no reason. She leaves

<v Speaker 1>and Missy asks Low if he believes her, and he's like, well,

<v Speaker 1>you are showing him your fangs and asks her how

<v Speaker 1>she learned how to defend herself so well. She tells

<v Speaker 1>him that her and her foster sister, who is Serena,

<v Speaker 1>took self defense classes together and he tells her no

<v Speaker 1>more fighting in his territory. He tells her she needs

<v Speaker 1>to behave and somehow she feels his alpha aura and

<v Speaker 1>degrees alpha. As she walks out the door, she turns

<v Speaker 1>back around to ask about her cat, but she sees

<v Speaker 1>him sniffing the air with his eyes closed, and she's like,

<v Speaker 1>do I stink or something?

<v Speaker 5>What is going on?

<v Speaker 1>He won't answer her, so she's like, is my cat

<v Speaker 1>cool to walk around here?

<v Speaker 2>He's locked in my room.

<v Speaker 1>He's getting grump be and Loe's like, yeah, sure, whatever,

<v Speaker 1>and she just walks out of the office. The next

<v Speaker 1>few days go by and she's never alone. She has

<v Speaker 1>someone escorting her everywhere, and she can't snoop around for

<v Speaker 1>Serena anymore. She just sleeps all day and naps at

<v Speaker 1>night and takes plenty of baths to try and get

<v Speaker 1>the stink off of her that is apparently bothering her

<v Speaker 1>husband so much.

<v Speaker 6>Oh my god, this sounds miserable.

<v Speaker 1>Yeah, and like she's the type of vampire that can't

<v Speaker 1>go out in the sun.

<v Speaker 2>Oh damn.

<v Speaker 1>Yeah, she can, but it's very painful and it hurts them.

<v Speaker 1>She doesn't like sparkle, she like blisters.

<v Speaker 2>Yeah, that's no fun.

<v Speaker 1>On the fifth night, one of her nicer guards, Mick,

<v Speaker 1>tells her she has a video call coming in from

<v Speaker 1>her brother and it's her twin brother. He asks how

<v Speaker 1>it's going, and she's like, I am so fucking bored.

<v Speaker 1>She asks if there's any news about Serena and he

<v Speaker 1>tells her nope, there's nothing. She goes back to her

<v Speaker 1>room to try and hack the werewolf servers when Anna

<v Speaker 1>appears on her windowsill. So she's also very good with computers,

<v Speaker 1>so she's trying to like hack the main frame to

<v Speaker 1>see if there's any cross referencing she can do to

<v Speaker 1>find Serena.

<v Speaker 4>Oh, hacker, god, yeah, women in stem Yeah.

<v Speaker 1>Missy's like, girl, how did you get up here? And

<v Speaker 1>Anna's like, they locked me out of the room, so

<v Speaker 1>I climbed up. Can I play with you? She sighs

<v Speaker 1>and pulls up a game on her laptop. Anna snuggles

<v Speaker 1>up to her, which catches Misery off guard. They play

<v Speaker 1>for a while and Anna's like, I gotta go. My

<v Speaker 1>cat Sparkles is waiting for me, and Missy's like, no,

<v Speaker 1>that's my cat and he's a boy and he's Serena's cat.

<v Speaker 2>Give me my cat back.

<v Speaker 6>Yeah.

<v Speaker 1>She asks who Serena is and Missy says, my best friend,

<v Speaker 1>but she's missing. Anna says maybe she'll turn up and

<v Speaker 1>says she's leaving so she can get out of here

<v Speaker 1>before low is done dealing with the loyalists, and the

<v Speaker 1>loyalists are people who sympathize with the old Alpha that.

<v Speaker 2>Low took over from. Oh, so there's turmoil in the

<v Speaker 2>wear community.

<v Speaker 1>Anna sneaks back out the window, and now that Missy

<v Speaker 1>knows low is out for the night, she's got some

<v Speaker 1>work to do. She breaks into Lowe's bedroom to snoop around.

<v Speaker 1>It's spick and span with no clutter whatsoever. The only

<v Speaker 1>frivolous thing she finds is a bottle of lube in

<v Speaker 1>his night stand.

<v Speaker 2>I don't know what that jerking off.

<v Speaker 3>Probably.

<v Speaker 1>She busts open the bottom drawer of his dresser since

<v Speaker 1>it's locked, and finds a book filled with sketches of architecture.

<v Speaker 1>And also there's a sketch of her Ah an artist. Also,

<v Speaker 1>he's like an architect.

<v Speaker 2>That's cool. Yeah.

<v Speaker 1>She puts everything back and sleeps until the next evening.

<v Speaker 1>When she wakes up, she can see a get together

<v Speaker 1>going on down in the yard with all the were wolves,

<v Speaker 1>and she watches the way Lowe interacts with all of

<v Speaker 1>his people.

<v Speaker 2>He seems very well respected. Then she sees Max.

<v Speaker 1>The were wolf that she had that altercation with, and

<v Speaker 1>he's completely separate from the entire party. She sees him

<v Speaker 1>talking to Anna and it ruffles her feathers.

<v Speaker 2>For some reason.

<v Speaker 1>He's pointing out into the woods about something and Anna

<v Speaker 1>is shaking her head no, but then he grabs her

<v Speaker 1>and pulls her toward the trees. Missy looks around and

<v Speaker 1>sees that nobody is noticing what is happening. She's annoyed

<v Speaker 1>that she even cares, but bursts downstairs, and then when

<v Speaker 1>she goes outside, it's still too bright for her to

<v Speaker 1>be out there and her skin is burning. Ugh.

<v Speaker 5>Yeah.

<v Speaker 1>She runs into the woods and yells after them to

<v Speaker 1>stop and ask Max where he's taking Anna. He's pissed,

<v Speaker 1>asking what she's even doing here, and she's like, what

<v Speaker 1>are you doing with a child in the middle of

<v Speaker 1>the forest.

<v Speaker 2>Yeah.

<v Speaker 1>He picks Anna up and starts to carry her away,

<v Speaker 1>and Anna screams. Missy lunges after them, and a bunch

<v Speaker 1>of werewolves jump out at them. They get brought back

<v Speaker 1>to the house and Low is pissed, asking what the

<v Speaker 1>fuck just happened, and we find out that there was

<v Speaker 1>a plan for Max to lure Anna away while he

<v Speaker 1>was trailed by the pack to find out where he

<v Speaker 1>was going to try and take her. So the rest

<v Speaker 1>of the pack knew that he was doing some shady

<v Speaker 1>shit with Anna, and they kind of let her be bait.

<v Speaker 2>Oh, just to see what he was doing. Yeah, and

<v Speaker 2>so Lowe's like, you ruin my plan, But she was

<v Speaker 2>trying to help.

<v Speaker 6>Yeah, that's all she's trying to do.

<v Speaker 1>Missy tries to help and asks who he's working for,

<v Speaker 1>and Max spits on her and Lo's like, do not

<v Speaker 1>ever disrespect my wife and demands that he apologize.

<v Speaker 5>Hugh.

<v Speaker 1>She uses her vampire powers and scrambles his brain a

<v Speaker 1>little bit and it's called a thrall and it's a

<v Speaker 1>form of hypnosis. So she's gonna try and get some

<v Speaker 1>answers for the pack. We find out that the previous

<v Speaker 1>alpha's old mate, Emery, put him up to this. Mick

<v Speaker 1>takes Missy out of the room for the rest of

<v Speaker 1>the interrogation and he's clearly very impressed with her for

<v Speaker 1>her mind powers. He drops her at her room, so

<v Speaker 1>she takes the opportunity to do some more snooping for Serena.

<v Speaker 1>In Lowe's office, she feels a rubbing of fur against

<v Speaker 1>her calf and she's like, not now, sparkles, but she

<v Speaker 1>looks down and it's an angry wolf growling right at her.

<v Speaker 1>It's one of the pack mates. His name is Cal

<v Speaker 1>and Lowe walks in behind him, asking what the fuck

<v Speaker 1>she's doing. He asks why she'd go through his drawers

<v Speaker 1>and why she left her scent all over his room.

<v Speaker 1>Another pack mate goes to the computer she was searching

<v Speaker 1>on and tells low she was searching for someone named

<v Speaker 1>Serena Paris. He's like, who the fuck is that? But

<v Speaker 1>she won't tell him anything. He accuses her of being

<v Speaker 1>a spy sent in to gather intel for her father.

<v Speaker 6>Oh my god, I know it's a whole thing.

<v Speaker 1>So she's like, she's my friend and she's a human,

<v Speaker 1>and your name was in her planner on the day

<v Speaker 1>she disappeared. He sits back and tries to think on

<v Speaker 1>what to tell her and is like, you married me

<v Speaker 1>because someone wrote my name in a planner and she's like, well,

<v Speaker 1>I need to find my friend. Anna bursts in and

<v Speaker 1>Juno comes in after her, and it's like, get back here.

<v Speaker 1>Lilyana esther Morland and her initials would be l E Morland,

<v Speaker 1>and Lowe tells Misery they need to talk it was

<v Speaker 1>never Low. It was Anna that she was writing about

<v Speaker 1>in her planner.

<v Speaker 6>What the fuck a child?

<v Speaker 3>The next morning, Low and Misery are having coffee and

<v Speaker 3>she tells him that the only allegiance she has to

<v Speaker 3>literally any living person is Serena, and she knows that

<v Speaker 3>Serena's out there somewhere. They go over the theories on

<v Speaker 3>what Serena is possibly writing about in regards to Anna

<v Speaker 3>and why she went missing over it. They start discussing

<v Speaker 3>Anna and he tells her a very large secret. Anna

<v Speaker 3>is a hybrid, which is how she's related to Low,

<v Speaker 3>but it has to be protected information. So their mom

<v Speaker 3>is a werewolf and Anna's dad is a human oh,

<v Speaker 3>which apparently is like really difficult mating wise. They then

<v Speaker 3>talk about the loyalists and who possibly tried to be

<v Speaker 3>the one to pull the kidnap Anna card. But as

<v Speaker 3>he puts anna sandwich together, he leaves it one ingredient.

<v Speaker 5>Out and it's her weakness. It's peanut butter.

<v Speaker 1>Oh.

<v Speaker 6>Is she like allergic?

<v Speaker 1>No?

<v Speaker 5>She loves it.

<v Speaker 3>It's like the only human food that she eats.

<v Speaker 2>Ah.

<v Speaker 3>She literally scoops some out with her fingers and just

<v Speaker 3>starts going to town and he's really confused.

<v Speaker 5>He learns that she can eat.

<v Speaker 3>Some human stuff, but not all of it because vampires

<v Speaker 3>can't digest all human food and they don't have like

<v Speaker 3>the right molars to chew it, which I thought was weird.

<v Speaker 2>I don't to chew peanut butter, no, like just any

<v Speaker 2>kind of human food.

<v Speaker 3>So that's why she likes peanut butter, because she doesn't

<v Speaker 3>have to like chew it. She's very embarrassed by this,

<v Speaker 3>but he tells her that he eats normal food for

<v Speaker 3>pleasure all the time.

<v Speaker 5>There's nothing wrong with eating something because you like the

<v Speaker 5>way it tastes.

<v Speaker 3>They in their conversation with promises of access to whatever

<v Speaker 3>she needs computer wise to find Serena, and then he leaves.

<v Speaker 3>It's been five nights now with her working with Alex

<v Speaker 3>on cross referencing all of the information they have on Serena.

<v Speaker 3>There's still three nights until the full moon, and she's

<v Speaker 3>been told that she has to stay in her room

<v Speaker 3>during that time.

<v Speaker 2>Yeah, they're gonna eat her, oh woo. Yeah.

<v Speaker 3>Later that night, the howls are unbearable because apparently the

<v Speaker 3>closer it gets, the more active they are.

<v Speaker 6>Oh.

<v Speaker 5>She sleeps in her closet by the way, extra dark.

<v Speaker 2>Yeah, she's a vampire.

<v Speaker 4>Yeah.
