<v Speaker 1>Jerry, Katie and Josh Max one hundred.
<v Speaker 2>Today is definitely a big day for Katie. Yeah, today's
<v Speaker 2>National Napping Day as you call it, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday.
<v Speaker 3>So wrong with that.
<v Speaker 1>I don't nap, Actually I don't. I sit on my couch.
<v Speaker 3>I want TV.
<v Speaker 2>Okay, but there's no napping.
<v Speaker 3>I'm still awake.
<v Speaker 2>Job of the hot day is coming up here for this.
<v Speaker 3>That one I'll celebrate, thank you very much.
<v Speaker 4>Listen.
<v Speaker 2>I can't poke too much fun at ye. Sometimes I
<v Speaker 2>need it in the afternoons.
<v Speaker 3>We get at three forty five.
<v Speaker 2>I do so three today actually oh yeah, so yeah.
<v Speaker 2>It sneaks up on you.
<v Speaker 3>And sometimes the nap is needed, but well usually not.
<v Speaker 2>Today's the day to get away with it, okay, So
<v Speaker 2>just tell your spouse leave me alone it's napping day today. Well,
<v Speaker 2>before you go away on your couch, I would imagine
<v Speaker 2>you wander down to your mailbox and get your mail, right, Katie.
<v Speaker 1>I do, I do, And actually in my mailbox yesterday
<v Speaker 1>I came across a wedding invitation.
<v Speaker 3>I know.
<v Speaker 1>I'm actually excited. It's an old childhood friend. We've connected
<v Speaker 1>and stayed connected our whole lives. So it's in six months.
<v Speaker 1>But there's a strange caveat to this wedding here. Only
<v Speaker 1>thirty of us were invited. And it's in the Caribbean, right,
<v Speaker 1>They've got this like old castle. Uh they want to
<v Speaker 1>get married in and there's a pretty steep fee to
<v Speaker 1>rent it. So between the thirty people, so yeah, like
<v Speaker 1>it's an old castle, it's a whole thing, like you
<v Speaker 1>get dressed up, they have tours, like there's a story
<v Speaker 1>behind it.
<v Speaker 3>It's a whole experience.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, like there's like old time everything attached to this
<v Speaker 1>whole experience. So only thirty of us again invited. So
<v Speaker 1>between the thirty of us, they've asked us to help
<v Speaker 1>with the cost of renting this castle. So and here's
<v Speaker 1>what it is. They're calling it an attending tax. So
<v Speaker 1>that's what bee.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, they should be an attending tax, even though.
<v Speaker 1>Old school castles speak like exactly. But this is on
<v Speaker 1>top of pain for everything that has to do with
<v Speaker 1>the wedding. And then because it's a destination wedding, we
<v Speaker 1>also have to pay for the flight. You're staying at
<v Speaker 1>this castle, you're taking the time off work, all of it.
<v Speaker 3>So now and here's the thing. It's an extra two
<v Speaker 3>hundred and fifty bucks a person.
<v Speaker 1>So if you're a couple, they're asking for five hundred,
<v Speaker 1>and if it's just a single person, they're asking for
<v Speaker 1>two hundred and fifty. So I called my friend last
<v Speaker 1>night because I was just like, wait, is this in
<v Speaker 1>lieu of a wedding gift or what you know? And there,
<v Speaker 1>and she was just like, no, we figure that this
<v Speaker 1>is an experience that everyone gets to have, and so
<v Speaker 1>we have no problem kind of passing on the cost
<v Speaker 1>of it because the thirty of us get to go
<v Speaker 1>and experience this together. And so they're like, it's no
<v Speaker 1>problem to ask you to help pay for the experience.
<v Speaker 2>I'll be honest with you, like, I know everyone's gonna
<v Speaker 2>get fired up about this. But that was the kind
<v Speaker 2>of the first thing that came to my mind was
<v Speaker 2>you get to go and hang out in a castle.
<v Speaker 2>It's only gonna cost you like two hundred and fifty
<v Speaker 2>bucks exactly. Be kind of fun and a destination.
<v Speaker 1>But again you have to add that two hundred and
<v Speaker 1>fifty dollars is just to rent the castle. The flight
<v Speaker 1>to the Caribe, we're talking about, you know, everything that
<v Speaker 1>you have to pay for weddings are already expensive, and
<v Speaker 1>it's like, if that's not my dream to go to
<v Speaker 1>a castle wedding, then why do I But I really
<v Speaker 1>want to be there for my friend. But I just
<v Speaker 1>was looking at, you know, different scenarios where this is
<v Speaker 1>the case now, and this is the thing, like people
<v Speaker 1>have been asking for their friends and people who are
<v Speaker 1>coming to their wedding to help pay for it, whether
<v Speaker 1>it's Venmo and I saw someone actually, you know, compare
<v Speaker 1>it to the dance that they charge people for right
<v Speaker 1>when you go dance with the bride and you that's.
<v Speaker 2>Like five six you count to a five dollars dance.
<v Speaker 3>That's what people are saying now.
<v Speaker 1>This is like the updated version of asking people to
<v Speaker 1>help pay for your honeymoon or whatever, you know. And
<v Speaker 1>maybe she did say She's like, we're not really asking
<v Speaker 1>for like cash gifts. If somebody wants to give us
<v Speaker 1>like a memento as a president something, that's fine, But
<v Speaker 1>two hundred and fifty dollars just to go to the wedding.
<v Speaker 1>And then I saw it, like there are people who
<v Speaker 1>have tickets, you.
<v Speaker 2>Have a picture of the castle their way, I.
<v Speaker 3>Know, Brian, can we see the castle.
<v Speaker 2>Again, really good longtime friend. Oh yeah, so do you
<v Speaker 2>just pony up the cash? What are you gonna blow
<v Speaker 2>two hundred and fifty dollars on? You're gonna, I know you,
<v Speaker 2>I know you're gonna wander into TJ Max a couple
<v Speaker 2>of times. You can get a bunch of pants that
<v Speaker 2>are kind of ugly.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, but I've never those are my pants and I
<v Speaker 1>get to sport them and wear them and love them. Really,
<v Speaker 1>that's the thing that's for me though, That's what I
<v Speaker 1>want to do.
<v Speaker 2>I've noticed, you know, kind of like you said that
<v Speaker 2>this is this is starting to pop now with a
<v Speaker 2>lot of people that the bride and groom is, you know,
<v Speaker 2>essentially asking people to chip in. And you know it's
<v Speaker 2>not necessarily a castle in a destination, but I've seen
<v Speaker 2>you know, you want a better meal. You know, we
<v Speaker 2>would love to give you guys, you know, steak and lobsters.
<v Speaker 2>Just chip in a little bit, buy a ticket to
<v Speaker 2>our wedding. Is this kind of the way everything is
<v Speaker 2>going now? To celebrate somebody, you have to buy a
<v Speaker 2>ticket to get in. And I think we just had Leah,
<v Speaker 2>our friend Lena, who's charging people to go to her
<v Speaker 2>birthday party.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, well she did.
<v Speaker 3>She's not doing that this.
<v Speaker 2>Year, but that anger and hate.
<v Speaker 1>No, Well for me, that's the thing is she wanted
<v Speaker 1>to cater her birthday with some really good food and
<v Speaker 1>if people wanted that. She kind of did a little
<v Speaker 1>pole beforehand, so she asked her guests before she you know,
<v Speaker 1>pulled the plug and had them paid to attend her
<v Speaker 1>birthday party.
<v Speaker 3>But I don't know, Like they.
<v Speaker 1>Say, weddings are getting more and more expensive, so this
<v Speaker 1>kind of trend is just going to increase.
<v Speaker 3>So if you're planning on going.
<v Speaker 1>To a wedding in the next couple of years, expect
<v Speaker 1>to have to pay for it on top of the
<v Speaker 1>gift of your wedding dress.
<v Speaker 2>Ridiculous. It's getting nutty out there.
<v Speaker 1>Like, yeah, it's expensive, let's do this.
<v Speaker 2>I'm gonna throw open the phone lines. I see the
<v Speaker 2>lines are already ringing. If you want to sound off
<v Speaker 2>about this, Should Katie pony up the extra two hundred
<v Speaker 2>and fifty bucks to go hang out in a castle
<v Speaker 2>for the afternoon at a beautiful wedding at a destination?
<v Speaker 2>Yes or no by Annika? So should Katie spend the
<v Speaker 2>two hundred and fifty.
<v Speaker 4>I mean, in this instance, I understand it since it's
<v Speaker 4>a close friend, but I maybe I'm old school. I
<v Speaker 4>don't think that you should be having your guests pay
<v Speaker 4>for your venue. Yeah, Like if you can't afford a venue,
<v Speaker 4>then you look for a different venue. I don't know.
<v Speaker 4>That's how I was when I was looking for wedding venues.
<v Speaker 4>Like if I found one and it was too much,
<v Speaker 4>I'm like, and we're moving on.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, I'm with you. It's like, yeah, if you can't,
<v Speaker 2>if there's no money there, then you don't get it. Yeah.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, And it's different for destination weddings. And then obviously
<v Speaker 4>in when you were talking about it, Katie, I thought
<v Speaker 4>that the castle is where you were saying if you
<v Speaker 4>have to pay for lodging in addition to that, also.
<v Speaker 3>That is a lot, so the flight and everybody.
<v Speaker 2>It's a castle, I know, and it's a friend.
<v Speaker 1>Like I don't want to say no because I want
<v Speaker 1>to be a part of her wedding, but it's just
<v Speaker 1>like it's expensive, all.
<v Speaker 2>Right, are you spending Katie's money? Is she gonna forget out?
<v Speaker 5>Or no?
<v Speaker 2>Are you being.
<v Speaker 4>I'm I'm in camp.
<v Speaker 6>No.
<v Speaker 4>As like general, in this instance, it's hard like I said,
<v Speaker 4>because it's a close friend.
<v Speaker 2>But I don't know, don't don't spend it on a castle.
<v Speaker 2>Invest that money, okay, Ana, I have your vote down
<v Speaker 2>for no, don't spend the two hundred and fifty dollars.
<v Speaker 2>Here's nicol hin of cool.
<v Speaker 5>Hi guys, they girl.
<v Speaker 2>So what do you think about this castle?
<v Speaker 5>I mean, the castle sounds super cool, but I think
<v Speaker 5>it's completely unacceptable to expect somebody else to pay for
<v Speaker 5>your wedding. Do you want to get married somewhere extravagant,
<v Speaker 5>you need to pay for that yourself, because especially, I
<v Speaker 5>mean you're going to have to buy you know, your
<v Speaker 5>plane ticket, you're lodging, you got you gotta have outfits,
<v Speaker 5>you gotta have all the things. So that's going to
<v Speaker 5>be expensive for you. It was their decision to have
<v Speaker 5>a destination wedding, they need to pay for that.
<v Speaker 1>Well yeah, and a lot of people, I know they'll
<v Speaker 1>even pay for people's rooms and stuff if they're expected
<v Speaker 1>to go to the wedding.
<v Speaker 3>That's where I'm like, everything is on us, and I'm like, they're.
<v Speaker 2>Going to be a dragon. There's is there a fire
<v Speaker 2>breathing dragon?
<v Speaker 1>Oh? If there's a dragon, I'm in Oh, pay for
<v Speaker 1>that castle all day.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, big turkey legs and a big long double for
<v Speaker 2>the dragon. I think there's a dragon, Okay, that.
<v Speaker 3>You got me to.
<v Speaker 5>I just disagree with it. I think it's too much.
<v Speaker 5>I disagree with gifts too, Like if you want to donate, cool,
<v Speaker 5>like that's what I did for my wedding. If you
<v Speaker 5>want to donate something, if you feel so inclined, you
<v Speaker 5>can do so money. But we didn't want gifts. We're
<v Speaker 5>all most people are already moved out of their parents' house.
<v Speaker 5>I think that's the thing of the past, buying someone
<v Speaker 5>to toaster because they got married.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, funny, you're funny. All right, I am putting you
<v Speaker 2>firmly in camp. No, don't spend that money. That's advice.
<v Speaker 2>Here ye here, you have a great day.
<v Speaker 5>Well fine, we'll.
<v Speaker 4>Hello hello.
<v Speaker 2>All right, is Katie spend two and fifty dollars on
<v Speaker 2>a castle.
<v Speaker 6>Only if you want to. I understand charging for events
<v Speaker 6>for people to go to in some instances, like I
<v Speaker 6>did last year with my.
<v Speaker 2>Oh wait a minute, it is this the leah?
<v Speaker 1>Yeah who charged for her birthday last year?
<v Speaker 2>You don't get died fo.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, it was for the food.
<v Speaker 6>I was thinking, I couldn't fork over three thousand dollars
<v Speaker 6>to feed everybody, that's crazy, And they wouldn't let me
<v Speaker 6>have it unless people prepaid. So that was the only
<v Speaker 6>way that I could do it. It was just to
<v Speaker 6>ensure that you're going to come.
<v Speaker 1>How is the food to this day, the best gluten
<v Speaker 1>free fried chicken and some of the best fried chicken
<v Speaker 1>I've ever had, hands down, Like it's amazing to pay
<v Speaker 1>so good.
<v Speaker 6>Yeah, they're so good. But but because I can understand
<v Speaker 6>people charging for that kind of thing, because you also,
<v Speaker 6>I mean, a destination wedding is different. Depends on how
<v Speaker 6>bad you really want to go on that kind of
<v Speaker 6>vacation and see a castle and do that, Like that's
<v Speaker 6>on you if that's really something you want to do
<v Speaker 6>and something you want to see. But if it's like
<v Speaker 6>a normal wedding or people, I could still see people
<v Speaker 6>wanting to charge for bigger, extravagant weddings. On the food side,
<v Speaker 6>because so many people are SVP, you have to prepay
<v Speaker 6>for their food and if they don't show up, then
<v Speaker 6>you just paid one hundred and fifty dollars for a
<v Speaker 6>plate of food nobody's eating.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, you're all about that food. Don't you give me.
<v Speaker 3>Bro that's part of a party.
<v Speaker 1>And I will have to say with this one, like
<v Speaker 1>I paid for the fried chicken. It was a very
<v Speaker 1>reasonable amount of money and I ate the fried chicken, So.
<v Speaker 3>I mean that works for me.
<v Speaker 2>That works a very reasonable amount of money that much
<v Speaker 2>fried chicken anywhere.
<v Speaker 6>This depends how badly I don't. I agree with the
<v Speaker 6>last person that you shouldn't have to pay for somebody
<v Speaker 6>else's destination wedding. That's crazy. If if it's just you
<v Speaker 6>pay for your plane ticket and you pay for your
<v Speaker 6>hotel and then you get to go to this super
<v Speaker 6>pretty vacation destination wedding and that's it, then sure.
<v Speaker 2>That's where.
<v Speaker 3>Caribbean. Yes, we're going.
<v Speaker 2>We're going really nice. Like how often do you get
<v Speaker 2>to go to the Caribbean and go to a cast
<v Speaker 2>I don't. It's like, Leah, what am you down for?
<v Speaker 2>Was this a yes or a no?
<v Speaker 6>I think it's I would say yes. I mean if
<v Speaker 6>you want to, it's only how bad you really want it,
<v Speaker 6>and if you can afford it, then do it? Why not?
<v Speaker 2>As long as they have gluten free chicken. Leah, you
<v Speaker 2>know I love you.
<v Speaker 5>I love you.
<v Speaker 2>I have a good day by Leah. She's funny, she's nuts.
<v Speaker 2>So for charging people to go to that bird, what.
<v Speaker 3>Do you mean again? I paid for fried chicken. I
<v Speaker 3>got fried chicken.
<v Speaker 1>That is a heck of an exchange there.
<v Speaker 2>Well, it came down to two to one in camp. No,
<v Speaker 2>I am going to say camp, yes, do it. So
<v Speaker 2>now it's tied up, so I don't know what you're
<v Speaker 2>gonna do.
<v Speaker 3>I kind of want to go, Like now, I hope
<v Speaker 3>there's a dragon.
<v Speaker 1>I should call her tonight ask if there's a dragon
<v Speaker 1>and make my decision.
<v Speaker 2>Hey, real quick, is there going to be a dragon? Katie?
<v Speaker 3>Are you drinking?
<v Speaker 1>What
