<v Speaker 1>Wednesday, March eleven, twenty twenty six, you are listening to
<v Speaker 1>the Daily Dose Sports podcast and I am your host,
<v Speaker 1>Clinton Daily, coming to you with my I City here
<v Speaker 1>in Denver, Colorado, and we are back for another week
<v Speaker 1>of talking sports with a dose of common sense. Hey,
<v Speaker 1>Happy Wednesday to you. I hope your week is going well.
<v Speaker 1>You are now halfway to another weekend, and I hope
<v Speaker 1>you your family of friends, everyone is staying strong and
<v Speaker 1>healthy right now. And man, has it been a busy
<v Speaker 1>week in the world of sports, because the new NFL
<v Speaker 1>calendar year is underway now and with that comes a
<v Speaker 1>number of roster moves and of course the start of
<v Speaker 1>that free agent signing period. And yes, we have seen
<v Speaker 1>a number of things taking place so far. First up,
<v Speaker 1>the Kansas City Chiefs, needing to free up some salary
<v Speaker 1>cap space, traded away all pro cornerback Trent McDuffie in
<v Speaker 1>exchange for a package of picks that includes the number
<v Speaker 1>twenty nine in this year's draft. They will also be
<v Speaker 1>getting a twenty twenty six to fifth and sixth round
<v Speaker 1>pick and a twenty seven to third round pick that
<v Speaker 1>is coming from the Los Angeles Rams, who are clearly
<v Speaker 1>just allergic at this point to drafting anyone ever. But hey,
<v Speaker 1>coming off that lost of the Seattle Seahawks in the playoffs,
<v Speaker 1>I think it was apparent that the Rams needed to
<v Speaker 1>upgrade their defensive backfield. This move definitely helps them do that.
<v Speaker 1>I'm just not quite sure I understand what the Chiefs
<v Speaker 1>are doing. Like when that first happened, I thought, well,
<v Speaker 1>maybe the Chiefs are kind of lowering their expectations for
<v Speaker 1>the coming season. We know the defense has been their strength.
<v Speaker 1>Maybe they're kind of backing off and saying, hey, we
<v Speaker 1>don't know when Patrick Mahomes is going to be back
<v Speaker 1>from that injury. Maybe we're just gonna have kind of
<v Speaker 1>a down year. But then the Chiefs went out and
<v Speaker 1>signed Super Bowl MVP running back former Seattle Seahawks running
<v Speaker 1>back Kenneth Walker in free agency. Okay, so you built
<v Speaker 1>up your offense, you did free up from salary, you'll
<v Speaker 1>lessened your defense a little bit, and you're still not
<v Speaker 1>sure when Patrick Mahomes is gonna be back. We still
<v Speaker 1>don't know what tight end Travis Kelsey is doing. I'm
<v Speaker 1>not sure what the Chiefs are doing. Guess we'll have
<v Speaker 1>to see the Buffalo Bills. We knew they had to
<v Speaker 1>upgrade their offensive weapons for quarterback Josh Allen, and they
<v Speaker 1>pulled the trigger on a big move. They sent a
<v Speaker 1>twenty twenty six second round draft pick to Chicago in
<v Speaker 1>exchange for wide receiver DJ Moore and a twenty twenty
<v Speaker 1>six to fifth round draft pick. Now, Moore turns twenty
<v Speaker 1>nine this April, but he will be reunited with Bill's
<v Speaker 1>new head coach Joe Brady. Remember he played under Brady
<v Speaker 1>with the Carolina Panthers back when Brady was the offensive coordinator.
<v Speaker 1>And hey, Moore is going to immediately be Josh Allen's
<v Speaker 1>best receiver. Will that be a huge upgrade for the Bills.
<v Speaker 1>We'll see if nothing else more. At least seems to
<v Speaker 1>stay healthy. He at least is on the field most
<v Speaker 1>of the time. But we are kind of seeing that
<v Speaker 1>Chicago Bears roster get shuffled a little bit. Hey, we
<v Speaker 1>know with tied end Colston Loveland, Romadonza, Luther Burden the third, Hey,
<v Speaker 1>they kind of had some room to let more go.
<v Speaker 1>But we also saw him have a very very low
<v Speaker 1>year in terms of production. This last year, he only
<v Speaker 1>had six hundred and eighty two yards on fifty catches,
<v Speaker 1>they do trim some salary which they desperately need to
<v Speaker 1>use on their defense. And then we got one of
<v Speaker 1>the most bizarre stories in NFL trade history that I
<v Speaker 1>can remember, as it was announced that the Baltimore Ravens
<v Speaker 1>would be acquiring five time Pro Bowl defensive end Max
<v Speaker 1>Crosby from the Las Vegas Raiders for first round picks
<v Speaker 1>this year in twenty twenty six and next year in
<v Speaker 1>twenty twenty seven. Hey, it would be the first time
<v Speaker 1>in the ravens thirty one year existence that they have
<v Speaker 1>used a first round pick to raide for a veteran player,
<v Speaker 1>and Baltimore had the number fourteen pick in this year's draft,
<v Speaker 1>so this is a very uncharacteristic move for the Ravens.
<v Speaker 1>But I mean, after going eight to nine this past season,
<v Speaker 1>where they missed the playoffs completely they fired longtime head
<v Speaker 1>coach John Harbaugh, it seemed like it was something that
<v Speaker 1>I guess they needed to do. Well. It all came
<v Speaker 1>crashing down last night when it was announced that the
<v Speaker 1>Ravens were backing out of the deal. Now, the Ravens
<v Speaker 1>didn't issue a reason just yet, but the speculation is
<v Speaker 1>that Crosby may have failed a physical and Baltimore got
<v Speaker 1>cold feet, I guess, But I mean, was this an injury?
<v Speaker 1>Was this a methamphetamine addiction? Did he say the Edward
<v Speaker 1>too many times? I don't know, is what I'm saying.
<v Speaker 1>But now, what do you do? Maxico's on the market.
<v Speaker 1>I mean, he can't go back to the Raiders. So
<v Speaker 1>does he go back on the market? And does this
<v Speaker 1>mean a lot of the trades and deals that were
<v Speaker 1>set in place are now undone? You know, maybe, just
<v Speaker 1>maybe the NFL needs to take a look at all
<v Speaker 1>these deals getting done before they officially can be done.
<v Speaker 1>Maybe you need to clamp down on that nonsense. The
<v Speaker 1>NFL never has because you could end up with egg
<v Speaker 1>on your face, as is this situation here. Moving over
<v Speaker 1>to the world of free agency in the NFL, the
<v Speaker 1>San Francisco forty nine ers training staff apparently signed former
<v Speaker 1>Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans. He will be
<v Speaker 1>working out in the training room for them next year.
<v Speaker 1>I think he's going to be leasing the blue sideline
<v Speaker 1>tent until he can find an apartment in San Francisco.
<v Speaker 1>The Miami Dolphins released quarterback to a tonguea Bay Lola
<v Speaker 1>and we'll eat ninety nine million dollars over two seasons.
<v Speaker 1>Instead of having to watch play football for one more second.
<v Speaker 1>The Dolphins instead went out and signed backup quarterback Malik Willis,
<v Speaker 1>who is basically to both without all the head injuries
<v Speaker 1>and that giant price tag. Meanwhile, the Atlanta Falcons already
<v Speaker 1>have a left handed, largely inaccurate quarterback on their staff,
<v Speaker 1>and he's got a pretty serious injury history. Well, the
<v Speaker 1>Atlanta Falcons took one look at Tuatungua bay Lowa on
<v Speaker 1>the free agent market and said, hey, we got to
<v Speaker 1>have it. I don't know why. It just feels like
<v Speaker 1>we have to have this guy on our roster. I
<v Speaker 1>don't understand it. I don't know what a lot of
<v Speaker 1>these moves were. But you know, great teams are not
<v Speaker 1>built in free agency. I know, we get all excited
<v Speaker 1>about free agency when it comes up, like, oh, look
<v Speaker 1>this big move. Oh look at this team making all
<v Speaker 1>these moves. I mean, you can add a piece here there.
<v Speaker 1>But bad teams are usually who wins free agency, and
<v Speaker 1>usually they have to overspend because no one wants to
<v Speaker 1>go to that crappy team. I mean, look at this year.
<v Speaker 1>The Las Vegas Raiders signed center Tyler Linderbaum to a
<v Speaker 1>three year deal eighty one million dollars. Hey, Linderbaum's good,
<v Speaker 1>he's undersized, but we know Clint Kubiak wants a good center. Well,
<v Speaker 1>eighty one million dollars later, they got one. They also
<v Speaker 1>went and got wide receiver Jalen Naylor thirty five million
<v Speaker 1>dollars and linebacker to Kobe Dean thirty six million dollars. Kids,
<v Speaker 1>that's a ton of money. So they have already spent
<v Speaker 1>that Max Crosby money like three times over. It wasn't
<v Speaker 1>just the Raiders. The New Orleans Saints signed running back
<v Speaker 1>Travis Etn and offensive guard David Edwards for a combined
<v Speaker 1>one hundred and thirteen million dollars. Now, are any of
<v Speaker 1>these moves going to make the Raiders or the Saints
<v Speaker 1>a contender? No? Probably not. Historically, if you're winning free agency,
<v Speaker 1>you're probably losing on the field. And one last move
<v Speaker 1>in NFL free agency, Arby's has signed former Raiders quarterback
<v Speaker 1>Geno Smith to a multi year deal worth fifteen dollars
<v Speaker 1>an hour to stabilize their drive through Wait that's not Arby's. Oh,
<v Speaker 1>it's the Jets. My bad, I mean same difference. The
<v Speaker 1>New York Jets have signed Geno Smith to a fifteen
<v Speaker 1>dollars an hour deal. My bad. One last thing to
<v Speaker 1>keep in mind on NFL free agency, only four teams
<v Speaker 1>didn't make an external addition to their rosters in the
<v Speaker 1>first day of free agency. The Seattle Seahawks, the Denver Broncos,
<v Speaker 1>the Jacksonville Jaguars, and the Philadelphia Eagles. What are those
<v Speaker 1>teams have in common? They all went to the playoffs
<v Speaker 1>and they all won at least eleven games this past year. Hey,
<v Speaker 1>Today on the DOS, we are going to continue getting
<v Speaker 1>ready for marsh Madness. You know, last week we talked
<v Speaker 1>about the teams and the players that are going to
<v Speaker 1>be the favorites for the NCAA Tournament, which is coming
<v Speaker 1>really really quickly. I mean Select Sunday is already this
<v Speaker 1>next weekend. But who are those sneaky teams out there?
<v Speaker 1>Maybe they don't have the big names, they just might
<v Speaker 1>end up busting your bracket. We're gonna have a few
<v Speaker 1>of those for you today. Plus our Daily use Top
<v Speaker 1>five is going to take a look at some history
<v Speaker 1>in the NCAA Tournament, and it might not be the
<v Speaker 1>good kind, all right, Now let's jump into a little
<v Speaker 1>bit of college basketball news. You know, we talked last
<v Speaker 1>week about North Carolina Tar Hills big man Caleb Williams
<v Speaker 1>being a player to watch this year in the tournament. Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>so much for that. Wilson is going to miss the
<v Speaker 1>remainder of the season after breaking his right thumb during
<v Speaker 1>practice last Thursday while dunking the basketball. Hey, Carolina is
<v Speaker 1>still going to be a solid team. They can still
<v Speaker 1>make a little noise in this tournament. Can they be
<v Speaker 1>one of the top teams in the country without Williams
<v Speaker 1>in the lineup? I would say probably not. I don't
<v Speaker 1>know if they could with him in the lineup, but
<v Speaker 1>I'd say they definitely can't with him out of the lineup. Hey,
<v Speaker 1>we saw them get worked over the weekend by Duke.
<v Speaker 1>Be careful advancing the Tar Heels too far in this
<v Speaker 1>tournament because Caleb Williams is a big loss. Speaking of
<v Speaker 1>those Duke Blue Devils, it wasn't just Williams that went down.
<v Speaker 1>Duke starting guard Caleb Foster has a fractured right foot
<v Speaker 1>and is out indefinitely. Duke head Goes john Shire announced
<v Speaker 1>that Foster underwent surgery on Sunday, and added that the
<v Speaker 1>junior guard will miss foreseeable time. He wouldn't rule out
<v Speaker 1>Foster for the rest of the season, but acknowledge that
<v Speaker 1>the Dukies would have to make a deep run in
<v Speaker 1>the NCAA Tournament in order for him to return. Now,
<v Speaker 1>Foster is Duke's fourth leading score He's averaging eight and
<v Speaker 1>a half points and three assists in thirty one games
<v Speaker 1>this year, but he suffered that foot injury in the
<v Speaker 1>first half of that North Carolina game and he did
<v Speaker 1>not return. Now, again, I'm not saying Duke can't win
<v Speaker 1>it all without Foster. I am saying you might want
<v Speaker 1>to be a little careful because in basketball, I mean,
<v Speaker 1>you only get five players on the Florida time Losing
<v Speaker 1>a good one definitely hurts. Moping briefly over to the NBA.
<v Speaker 1>Jason Tatum's return to the Boston Celtics. Honestly, it's been
<v Speaker 1>nothing short of incredible. He's played around twenty seven minutes
<v Speaker 1>in each of the games that he has been back
<v Speaker 1>since that achilles tear just ten months ago. He's averaging
<v Speaker 1>seventeen and a half points. I mean, that is hard
<v Speaker 1>to believe, and I know they are saying the reason
<v Speaker 1>he has back so quickly was because he got into
<v Speaker 1>surgery so quickly. But you know, when I was looking
<v Speaker 1>at Tatum coming back, I was like, I don't know
<v Speaker 1>if they even need him this year. I mean, they're
<v Speaker 1>sitting at like forty three and twenty one or something
<v Speaker 1>like that. They look even better now with them in
<v Speaker 1>the lineup. But here's the other side of that, the
<v Speaker 1>way the Eastern Conference is going right now. I mean,
<v Speaker 1>the Knicks, I don't know, something's wrong with them. They're
<v Speaker 1>a little bit funky and they're really inconsistent. I'm not
<v Speaker 1>sure about them. The Pistons, they need a secondary scoring option.
<v Speaker 1>We've seen what can have into Detroit when you take
<v Speaker 1>away Kate Cunningham. Are the Boston Celtics the best team
<v Speaker 1>in the Eastern Conference? I'm starting to think they might be,
<v Speaker 1>And now with the return of Jason Tatum, I mean
<v Speaker 1>they might just keep getting better. Okay, So we started
<v Speaker 1>doing this goodness back in the earliest days of the podcast.
<v Speaker 1>We would go through and look for some teams that
<v Speaker 1>don't have the big names, but they are capable of
<v Speaker 1>busting up some brackets.
<v Speaker 2>Bust you up, go for it.
<v Speaker 1>Hey, you can go back and you can listen to
<v Speaker 1>the del Doose history. We have a pretty good record
<v Speaker 1>of picking teams that have made some serious noise in
<v Speaker 1>the NCAA tournament. So with that in mind, we're going
<v Speaker 1>to give you some teams today. Now we're not saying
<v Speaker 1>these teams can win the whole thing. What we are
<v Speaker 1>saying is be careful because these teams don't have a
<v Speaker 1>big name. But you're going to see them in your
<v Speaker 1>bracket and you're going to be like, well, just move
<v Speaker 1>their opponent pas, because I don't know that name. All
<v Speaker 1>I'm saying is be careful because these teams just might
<v Speaker 1>bust up your bracket. Let's start off with a program
<v Speaker 1>that doesn't have much history in the NCAA Tournament in general.
<v Speaker 1>I mean, they've only made the tournament like ten times. Oh,
<v Speaker 1>but the Saint Louis Billikans. They are a team that
<v Speaker 1>could be dangerous this year. And when you watch them
<v Speaker 1>play and you see their dorky big man Robbie Avilla
<v Speaker 1>with his giant goggles on, you're going to go, Clint,
<v Speaker 1>did you seriously tell me that the Saint Louis Billicans
<v Speaker 1>could actually make some noise in the tournament. Yes, And
<v Speaker 1>it's because they could actually make some noise in the tournament. Hey,
<v Speaker 1>Avila has some great nicknames. Kreem Abdul Jabbar might be
<v Speaker 1>the best one. Larry Blurd college Jokic, but you know
<v Speaker 1>he averages thirteen to five and five. Saint Louis scores
<v Speaker 1>eighty seven points per game, and they're a really good
<v Speaker 1>rebounding team. Hey, Saint Louis isn't going to win at all,
<v Speaker 1>but I'm mourning you. They could be a pain. You know,
<v Speaker 1>the American Athletic Conference, they make some noise in football
<v Speaker 1>every once in a while. But you might want to
<v Speaker 1>keep an eye on a team that is right now
<v Speaker 1>the top team in the American in basketball, and that
<v Speaker 1>is those South Florida Bulls. After some midseason struggles, the
<v Speaker 1>Bulls are kind of starting to hit their stride. Now.
<v Speaker 1>They've got a few veterans on their team. Their best
<v Speaker 1>players are juniors and seniors, and head coach Brian Hodgson
<v Speaker 1>he actually won a few games at Arkansas State. Well,
<v Speaker 1>he's got a better team in South Florida and they
<v Speaker 1>might cause some problems for opponents again with that defense.
<v Speaker 1>They're a pretty solid defensive team. They can turn you
<v Speaker 1>over a number of times you get in a tournament,
<v Speaker 1>you have an ugly night. They're pressing you, they're trapping you,
<v Speaker 1>you have a few turnovers, and all of a sudden
<v Speaker 1>you're in a dogfight with South Florida. Yeah, it might happen.
<v Speaker 1>You know, I probably shouldn't put this next team on
<v Speaker 1>our list because they're actually getting a reputation for making
<v Speaker 1>some noise in marsh Madness. But once again, head coach
<v Speaker 1>Randy Bennett has a team at Saint Mary's and they
<v Speaker 1>can trip some people up. You know, Bennett has now
<v Speaker 1>coached the Gails to eleven tournament births, including four in
<v Speaker 1>a row. But because of that, Saint Mary's isn't going
<v Speaker 1>to be happy just to make the field. Hey, they've
<v Speaker 1>beaten Gonzaga this year, They've beaten Santa Clara this year.
<v Speaker 1>Saint Mary's can defend. Usually when you hear Saint Mary's,
<v Speaker 1>you go, oh, bunch of shooters, bunch of white boys
<v Speaker 1>that can just chuck it from outside. No, no, no,
<v Speaker 1>this team can defend, and offensively they're very, very efficient.
<v Speaker 1>Be careful of Saint Mary's. They could bust up some brackets. Okay,
<v Speaker 1>I have another team and you probably are gonna want
<v Speaker 1>to watch them. And when I say their name, you're
<v Speaker 1>going to go, well, come on, Clint. They don't belong here,
<v Speaker 1>at least not this year. Oh, but historically, Oh, they
<v Speaker 1>belong here. Because the Nebraska Cornhuskers are the only Power
<v Speaker 1>conference team in America that has never won a game
<v Speaker 1>in the NCAA Tournament. That is insane. Well, that streak
<v Speaker 1>should come to an end this year because the Corner
<v Speaker 1>Huskers have been dominating this year. And who in their
<v Speaker 1>one hundred and thirty year history, the Nebraska Cornhuskers have
<v Speaker 1>only met the tournament eight times. They are zero and
<v Speaker 1>eight when they get there. Well, this year, I mean,
<v Speaker 1>Nebraska's a top ten team. Do you realize they actually
<v Speaker 1>began this season by rolling off twenty straight wins before
<v Speaker 1>they ever lost a game. Now, Nebraska has stumbled a
<v Speaker 1>bit recently in Big Ten play, but the Big ten's
<v Speaker 1>pretty good and Nebraska, I'll go and say this, I
<v Speaker 1>don't think they just win one game. I think they
<v Speaker 1>actually win a few games in the tournament. Beware of Nebraska.
<v Speaker 1>Like I said, they don't have the history. They don't.
<v Speaker 1>It's bad, but they might actually win a few games
<v Speaker 1>this year. A little more about the Nebraska Cornhuskers later
<v Speaker 1>on the Dust. This next team made it to the
<v Speaker 1>tournament last year, but then they're head coach Alan huss
<v Speaker 1>He left and he didn't even leave to take a
<v Speaker 1>head coaching job. He left to go to Creighton to
<v Speaker 1>be the next head coach in waiting. Kind of odd.
<v Speaker 1>So Flynn Klayman took over and inherited a very good
<v Speaker 1>high Point team. I know you see high Point and
<v Speaker 1>you immediately just pencil in whoever they're playing. I'm telling
<v Speaker 1>you right now, high Point has some players. Terry Anderson
<v Speaker 1>and Rob Martin are both seniors, and they've got a
<v Speaker 1>veteran team in general. And once again high Point has
<v Speaker 1>been to the tournament. They're not going to be excited
<v Speaker 1>just to make it. They made it last year. They
<v Speaker 1>want to win a game or two this year. And
<v Speaker 1>if you drop a high Point Panthers, you might think
<v Speaker 1>you have a bye to get to the second round.
<v Speaker 1>Not so fast. This team has already qualified for the tournament.
<v Speaker 1>They won the Big South Tournament. They are already in.
<v Speaker 1>All they're doing now is getting ready. If you see
<v Speaker 1>high Point you might be for a dog fight. You
<v Speaker 1>definitely do not have a buy one more team to
<v Speaker 1>discuss before we take a quick break. And this team
<v Speaker 1>is out of the Coastal Athletic Conference where the UNC
<v Speaker 1>Wilmington Seahawks have been dominating. Now, if you haven't seen them,
<v Speaker 1>coach Ta Keo siddles team. They have got one of
<v Speaker 1>the most imposing players in the country in a kid
<v Speaker 1>named Patrick Westler. Thirteen points a game, ten rebounds a game,
<v Speaker 1>one block a game. He's one of the best post
<v Speaker 1>players in the country. But Wilmington, they are both a
<v Speaker 1>top five offensive and top five defensive team in that
<v Speaker 1>Coastal Athletic Conference. And again UNC Wilmington, they made the
<v Speaker 1>Dance last year, they got beaten by Texas Tech. Well,
<v Speaker 1>they've got seniors this year. They've got upperclassmen this year.
<v Speaker 1>Their experience this year, they're not coming in going oh,
<v Speaker 1>it's so exciting to be there. We made it. Now
<v Speaker 1>we're done. No, they want to come out and actually
<v Speaker 1>win a game. Be very careful of those UNC Wilmington Seahawks. Hey,

<v Speaker 1>It's free to join and then join the group named
<v Speaker 1>Daily Dose Sports podcast and make your picks. More about
<v Speaker 1>that next week on the podcast. So let's finish up.
<v Speaker 1>I will look at some of the teams out there
<v Speaker 1>that might not have name brand recognition, but they could
<v Speaker 1>end up busting up your bracket. And we go next
<v Speaker 1>to Conference USA to a team that seems to make
<v Speaker 1>this list Honestly, I think like every year because once
<v Speaker 1>again head coach Richie McKay has his Liberty Flames playing
<v Speaker 1>at a very high level. Liberty isn't just a good
<v Speaker 1>offensive team, it's one of the best offensive teams we've
<v Speaker 1>ever seen. This team might finish the season as the
<v Speaker 1>first Division one team to shoot forty percent from three
<v Speaker 1>and sixty one percent from inside the arc. Both of
<v Speaker 1>those are top six nationally. That would be the best
<v Speaker 1>shooting we've seen since like the nineties. Liberty just doesn't
<v Speaker 1>miss much. Hey, Richie McKay has had his Liberty Flames
<v Speaker 1>in the tournament three other times. They're not going to
<v Speaker 1>be intimidated. Watch out for Liberty this year. We go
<v Speaker 1>next to the IVY League, where the Yale Bulldogs have
<v Speaker 1>gone to back to back tournaments, and it looks like
<v Speaker 1>they're going to go to the third Big Dance in
<v Speaker 1>a row. Hey, the Bulldogs have one of the best
<v Speaker 1>offenses in the country. They rank in the top thirty inefficiency.
<v Speaker 1>They ranked second nationally in three point shooting at forty
<v Speaker 1>one percent. Nick Townsend is the best player in the
<v Speaker 1>league and coach James Jones, Hey, he's proven he can win.
<v Speaker 1>He's proven he can get Yell to the tournament. And
<v Speaker 1>don't forget it was just two years ago Yale upset Auburn.
<v Speaker 1>We called it here on the dose and busted a
<v Speaker 1>bunch of brackets, telling you Yelle just might do it again. Now,
<v Speaker 1>I shouldn't put this next team on our list because
<v Speaker 1>they're actually undefeated. But the problem for Miami, Ohio is
<v Speaker 1>that their schedule hasn't been all that impressive. But the
<v Speaker 1>RedHawks are trying to be just the fourth team since
<v Speaker 1>nineteen ninety one to enter the NCAA Tournament with an
<v Speaker 1>unbeaten record. Miami is now entering the Mid American Conference
<v Speaker 1>Tournament with a perfect thirty one to oher record. No,
<v Speaker 1>they haven't beaten any ranked teams. Oh, but they are
<v Speaker 1>crushing the teams they do play. On average, they win
<v Speaker 1>every game by about twenty six points. Now, could that
<v Speaker 1>bite them later when they get into a tight game,
<v Speaker 1>Yeah it could. But could they come out and win
<v Speaker 1>a game or two? Oh that is very, very possible.
<v Speaker 1>We will finish up with another team that has the
<v Speaker 1>chance to surprise some people and bust up your bracket,
<v Speaker 1>because when you see Saint Thomas Minnesota on the line,
<v Speaker 1>you're gonna go, well, I've never heard of them, so
<v Speaker 1>let's go ahead and put the other team past them.
<v Speaker 1>I'm telling you right now the Saint Thomas Minnesota Tommys. Yet,
<v Speaker 1>you better be careful picking against this team because the
<v Speaker 1>Tommies have consistently been one of the best offensive teams
<v Speaker 1>in mid major basketball, not just this year, over the
<v Speaker 1>past few years, and this should be the year the
<v Speaker 1>Tommies get to show that on the NCAA Tournament stage.
<v Speaker 1>Nolan Minnesaul and Nick Janowski our big time scores. Hey,
<v Speaker 1>the Tommy's can light it up from three point range.
<v Speaker 1>Be careful, Like I said, you're gonna see that name,
<v Speaker 1>or you're gonna go say Thomas Minnesota, who is that?
<v Speaker 1>Don't say he didn't know, because they just might end
<v Speaker 1>up busting your bracket. Hey, we know that this season
<v Speaker 1>we don't really have teams that are head and shoulders
<v Speaker 1>just better than everyone else. I think Duke is there,
<v Speaker 1>I think Arizona's there, I think Michigan is there, but
<v Speaker 1>they've all been beaten. Hey, if you get your bracket
<v Speaker 1>and you just advance every favorite, I don't know that
<v Speaker 1>it's gonna go that well because we don't have that
<v Speaker 1>dominant of teams. We're going to see some upsets and
<v Speaker 1>we will have some experienced mid major teams this year
<v Speaker 1>that can make some noise. Make those picks very very
<v Speaker 1>carefully now, as we do so many weeks here at
<v Speaker 1>the Daily Dose, we need to get over to our
<v Speaker 1>Daily Dose Top five. So today we have been discussed
<v Speaker 1>some teams that might not be household names, but they
<v Speaker 1>still might be capable of upsetting one of those blue
<v Speaker 1>blood programs when the NC DOUBLEA Tournament begins next week.
<v Speaker 1>But did you know there are a few teams that
<v Speaker 1>have gone to the NCUBLEA Tournament numerous times and they've
<v Speaker 1>never won a single game. I mean, we spoke earlier
<v Speaker 1>about the Nebraska Cornerhoskers who are trying to make history
<v Speaker 1>this year by winning the first game in their school's history,
<v Speaker 1>but they're not the only ones. Today our Daily Dose
<v Speaker 1>Top five is counting down the college basketball programs that
<v Speaker 1>have the most appearances in the NC DOUBLEA Tournament but
<v Speaker 1>have not yet recorded a single win. Could we see
<v Speaker 1>that change for any of these schools this season? And
<v Speaker 1>by the way, our Daily Dos Top five today it
<v Speaker 1>actually has eight teams on it, but there are a
<v Speaker 1>number of ties, so you'll see what I mean. We
<v Speaker 1>started for number five, where we actually have five schools
<v Speaker 1>tied on this entry. The Akrons have had a few
<v Speaker 1>decent seasons. They've had players like Alex of Brau and
<v Speaker 1>Zeke Marshall and head coach Keith Dambrock. Louisiana Monroe had
<v Speaker 1>NBA great Calvin nat and head coach Mike Vining. The
<v Speaker 1>Colgate Raiders had Mike Ferrara and A'donald Foyle and head
<v Speaker 1>coach Mike Langle won a number of games. The South
<v Speaker 1>Dakota State jack Rabbits had Mike Down and Nate Walters
<v Speaker 1>and head coach Scott Nagy won nearly two hundred games.
<v Speaker 1>And Long Island University had guys like Charlie Jones and
<v Speaker 1>Freddie Burton and legendary coach Claire b But what do
<v Speaker 1>all five of these schools have in common. They've each
<v Speaker 1>been to the NCAA Tournament seven times and they are
<v Speaker 1>each zero to seven. So these five schools are taking
<v Speaker 1>up basically the five to four and the three slot.
<v Speaker 1>And of these five schools, Acron at least has a
<v Speaker 1>chance to make the tournament. They sit in second place
<v Speaker 1>in the Mid American Conference behind that undefeated Miami, Ohio team.
<v Speaker 1>Long Island is currently on top of their North Eastern Conference.
<v Speaker 1>They'll have to win their tournament to get in, though,
<v Speaker 1>so could any of these teams break their streak of
<v Speaker 1>winning an NCUBLEA tournament game. It's not very likely. But
<v Speaker 1>today Akron, Louisiana, Monroe, Colgate, South Dakota State, and Long
<v Speaker 1>Island come in on our list at number five and
<v Speaker 1>number four four and also number three. We move on
<v Speaker 1>to number two and we actually have two schools that
<v Speaker 1>land here in a tie. The first one we've already
<v Speaker 1>discussed today. The Nebraska corn Huskers have played in eight
<v Speaker 1>NC double A tournament games. They've never won a single game.
<v Speaker 1>I mean, the Huskers have had some decent players. Lookie
<v Speaker 1>Belcher stands out. Tyron lou was a Husker, Bryce Williams,
<v Speaker 1>Ed Marrow, Ryan Anderson, pretty good players. Danny Knee and
<v Speaker 1>Tim Miles both had successful runs as head coaches in Lincoln,
<v Speaker 1>but they couldn't win a tournament game. But then we
<v Speaker 1>also have another school that has also tried eight times
<v Speaker 1>and has also failed eight times, because the Eastern Kentucky
<v Speaker 1>Colonels went to the tournament for the first time back
<v Speaker 1>in the fifties. They went most recently in twenty fourteen. Now, obviously,
<v Speaker 1>Eastern Kentucky doesn't have a ton of history. Jeff McGill
<v Speaker 1>and James Tillman were probably the best players in their
<v Speaker 1>school's history, but they have made it to the Big
<v Speaker 1>Dance eight different times. Unfortunately, they have yet to win
<v Speaker 1>a game when they get there. Now, I do think
<v Speaker 1>Nebraska's gonna end this streak this year. I actually think
<v Speaker 1>they're going to win a game. Eastern Kentucky. Yeah, they're
<v Speaker 1>gonna have to wait a little longer because I don't
<v Speaker 1>think they're gonna get in. But Nebraska and Eastern Kentucky
<v Speaker 1>coming today on our list at number two. So we
<v Speaker 1>reached the number one team on our list a day
<v Speaker 1>of schools that have the most NCAA Tournament appearances without
<v Speaker 1>a single win, and we get to another team that
<v Speaker 1>actually doesn't have a great deal of success in world
<v Speaker 1>of college basketball. I mean, if I say name like
<v Speaker 1>Derek Marx and Tyson Degenhart, it probably isn't going to
<v Speaker 1>ring any bells for you. Their current head coach, Leon
<v Speaker 1>Rice is the best coach in their history. He's gotten
<v Speaker 1>them to the tournament five times, but they haven't won
<v Speaker 1>a game. However, you had probably known the school more
<v Speaker 1>for their football program with guys like Ryan Clady and
<v Speaker 1>Ashton Genty and Kellen Moore and Ian Johnson. Because the
<v Speaker 1>Boise State Broncos have now played in ten NCUBA Tournament
<v Speaker 1>games total, they are zero to ten in those games. Now,
<v Speaker 1>Boise State is solid this year, but I think they're
<v Speaker 1>probably gonna have to win the Mountain West Tournament in
<v Speaker 1>order to make that NCUBA tournament field, So their streak
<v Speaker 1>is probably going to remain intact. But we will see
<v Speaker 1>if any of the programs on our Daily Noose Top
<v Speaker 1>five this week will have a chance to actually make
<v Speaker 1>some history this year and actually get a win up
<v Speaker 1>in the win column. Hey, next week on the DOESK,
<v Speaker 1>the NCAA Tournament will be set Selection Sunday is Sunday morning.
<v Speaker 1>We will be taking a deep dive into the matchups
<v Speaker 1>on the board and we will do our best to
<v Speaker 1>get you ready to fill out your marsh Madness bracket
<v Speaker 1>and win your all important office pools. So be sure
<v Speaker 1>you're tuned into the daily dose, and be sure you
<v Speaker 1>let a friend know to do the same. Hey. I
<v Speaker 1>want to say thank you to each and every one
