Lisa Maynard: [00:00:00] Welcome to the Performance Marketers Toolkit, the series where we explore the biggest challenges modern marketers are facing, and the performance enhancing solutions that help overcome them. I'm Lisa Maynard, VP of Marketing at Awin. In each episode, we'll look at a real world marketing challenge and how brands are solving it through the agility of the affiliate channel and the help of a winds tech.
Today we're exploring how brands are using affiliate partnerships to improve their onsite experience [00:00:30] and boost conversion rates. We all know that every customer is different. Research from the Bayard Institute shows that 70% will abandon their cart before checking out. Meanwhile, 72% feel positively about receiving product recommendations to increase their order value.
One second. You're saving a customer from lapsing the next, you're helping them spend more. You need the right tools on your website to identify what each customer needs, but with limited development resources. That's easier said than done. Here's where affiliate marketing offers something unique. Brands can [00:01:00] access a wide range of specialist technology partners, innovative tools that enhance product discovery, personalization.
Checkout experiences and only pay when those tools actually drive results. These partnerships allow marketers to test and deploy new technology quickly and affordably transforming the affiliate channel into a test and learn engine for onsite innovation, one brand embracing this approach is VioVet. A leading UK online pet retailer working with Increasingly, an AI powered cross-selling and product bundling solution.
[00:01:30] Bio vet wanted to make it easier for shoppers to discover complimentary products and increase average order values. Here's Meredydd Cormode marketing manager at VioVet. And Sri Sharma, CEO and co-founder of Increasingly, speaking on Awin-Win Marketing Podcast about how they made it happen.
Meredydd: So we were looking to add bundling to the site because it had been something on the roadmap prior to even me joining the business.
Mm-hmm. So we've wanted the ability to group products together and kind of put that front and center for a long time. [00:02:00] But we have a bottleneck in the business with development capacity.
Rob: So, Sri, can you share with us how Increasingly's tech works for a brand like VioVet?
Sri: Increasingly's product bundling is an onsite technology.
Mm-hmm. And particularly for VioVet, it was about recognizing that they have a very large KU can large number of products.
Rob: Mm-hmm.
Sri: And being able to take into consideration all of those and still have a SaaS product that's easy to implement, doesn't take dev resource on their end. Yeah. Is our reason for being.
Mm-hmm. And through that we're able to implement.
Meredydd: The results were [00:02:30] fairly quick to come in. I think now we're looking at about an average of an additional product, I think technically 1.2 products, uh, per basket. Mm-hmm. Uh, which is obviously an increase in AOV for us, which is fantastic because it means it's adding that value to the customer's journey they're finding.
At least one additional product that they find helpful.
Lisa Maynard: The VioVet and Increasingly story shows how the affiliate channel can open the door to powerful onsite innovations. But what makes this even simpler for Awin advertisers is the technology that underpins these partnerships. When a brand launches an [00:03:00] affiliate program with Awin, they install the Awin Mastertag, a small piece of code that powers tracking and connects their site to the Awin platform.
It's what allows brands to accurately measure which partners drive sales, but because the tag already sits across their site, it also doubles as a gateway to activate new technology partners instantly. No new integration work required. That simplicity is a game changer for tech partners too.
Sri: Right from the get go, our message is there is a zero dev opportunity to [00:03:30] work with increasingly.
Mm-hmm. The way we unpack that and explain it is how technically we do it all. But a key part of that is also that they don't have to even put the tag on. Mm-hmm. And the Awin Mastertag helps completely solve that because then they go, oh, great. I don't even need to talk to the dev team about that. So it's a really, really powerful aspect,
Lisa Maynard: That kind of plug and play simplicity gives both brands and partners the freedom to move faster, experiment more, [00:04:00] and focus on the results, not the integrations and the numbers speak for themselves.
In the past 12 months, more than 5,000 brands have generated sales through a tech partner on the Awin platform. Collectively, these partnerships have delivered over 6 million sales and more than $700 million in revenue.
A 20% increase on the previous year. That's proof that affiliate partnerships don't just drive traffic. They're helping brands transform their e-commerce experiences and increase conversion rates at scale. So if you're looking to enhance your e-commerce experience, [00:04:30] improve conversion rates, and unlock new incremental sales.
Awin's tech partner ecosystem - powered by the Mastertag - offers the speed, scale and simplicity you need. Thanks for joining me this episode of the Performance Marketers Toolkit. Join us next time as we tackle another marketing challenge and show how Awin helps marketers enhance their [00:05:00] performance.
