[SPEAKER_03]: everybody JJ Cooper Jeff Ponce another baseball American prospect podcast great to see you guys sorry that this is a little bit late because uh we were writing for spring breakout rosters to come out and not of all baseball it was the teams fault but i'm i think we're the last team roster came in like an hour before the announced them but uh

[SPEAKER_03]: Basically, they did not announce the actual rosters until 11 o'clock the day before we have dates, which kind of hard to talk about the rosters until you actually have the rosters.

[SPEAKER_03]: So,

[SPEAKER_03]: Here we are, you know, apologies for the, we're not on our normal setups, both of us are down here and Florida, different sides of Florida, but Jeff just got done covering the WBC, which basically bucket list event, you know, you've now seen two finals that I think will be among the five greatest games you've ever seen in your life, especially five greatest environments fair.

[SPEAKER_02]: This was probably the best sports environment that I've been even in comparison to the 2023 WBC, and being there for Japan and USA, no disrespect to my own home country, my team of rooting in just the United States, or Japan, which I would get a baseball culture that I have a lot of appreciation for.

[SPEAKER_02]: And the location of it being in Miami and just the amount of the, you know, the, the, the, the, the, the large, latin population there, large fenders, railing population there, large Dominican population there, with both of those teams.

[SPEAKER_02]: So I was there for all semi final games in the final.

[SPEAKER_02]: the environment was electric.

[SPEAKER_02]: I would say the semifinal community nine states in DR probably maybe like 60, 40, 65, 35 and favor of Dominican fans.

[SPEAKER_02]: The Venezuela in Italy game is one would expect.

[SPEAKER_02]: Probably was like 95 percent Venezuela if that's it was an incredible home environment incredibly loud.

[SPEAKER_02]: And I'll say this as well like a very

[SPEAKER_02]: knowledgeable baseball crowd in terms of the things that they reacted to and they brought a lot of emotion and fun to it I had another friend who's not in the industry who went to the game with some clients, you know, in a business thing And I had suggested he should definitely try to get to the final and he thought tickets months ago sight unseen not knowing who the games were had

[SPEAKER_02]: No rooting interest, of course he's from the United States, so it was cheering for the U.S.

[SPEAKER_02]: But like, today when we were talking about it, he was just like, wow, like the environment in terms of the noise, like the party element of it.

[SPEAKER_02]: How every moment in the game, every ending really seemed like a chapter, you know, like the game itself feels different.

[SPEAKER_02]: And I say this is someone who goes to

[SPEAKER_02]: over a hundred baseball games a year and one just baseball, you know, nine to ten months out of the year.

[SPEAKER_02]: So I have a good gauge of it and it's just, it's just a different experience.

[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's it's like a world cup or, you know, an NBA finals.

[SPEAKER_02]: That's what I can compare it to.

[SPEAKER_02]: And I'll say in terms

[SPEAKER_02]: In Lone Depot, with the roof closed for all those games, the passion, the noise, and just the ability to make a lot of noise chant and just like overtake sound.

[SPEAKER_02]: It was, it was as loud as anything that any sporting event that I had been to.

[SPEAKER_02]: I think it might have been allowed us.

[SPEAKER_02]: And it got like progressively louder each night and really culminated last night.

[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, when I left the park, there were still Venice,

[SPEAKER_02]: chanting and hanging out and dancing and celebrating in like, you know, the, the, the, the, the, meen area and then like the outside that they have, like, they're going to be there.

[SPEAKER_02]: They, they, they hung out, like, the, you know, the, the previous game, but like Japan, I'd say fans kind of, you know, dispersed and didn't hang out as long.

[SPEAKER_02]: 70% of that crowd was there in our afterward as this trophy presentation was going on and the guys were hanging out on the fields with their families and they were just enjoying the moment.

[SPEAKER_02]: So it had a different feel and you could tell that just it meant a lot to the Venezuelan people that were there and I'm sure like,

[SPEAKER_02]: a pinnacle, you know, for them in terms of like their baseball culture, you know, reaching this top.

[SPEAKER_02]: And I think when you look at the teams that have now won the WBC JJ, you know, Japan obviously three times they've dominated this tournament historically, the United States ventures the game, all that sort of thing.

[SPEAKER_02]: Dominican Republic, I think, you know, one of the most exciting styles of baseball.

[SPEAKER_02]: We saw a lot of that.

[SPEAKER_02]: They were well represented in one of the greatest games I've ever watched.

[SPEAKER_02]: I actually think that is the great WBC game that I've ever been to just in terms of the back and forth even more so than last night even more so than Japan USA.

[SPEAKER_02]: And then now Venezuela, and I think when you look at the big four in terms of producing the elite talent in baseball, it is those four countries, you know, Venezuela in the last 15 years is produced three different MVP winners and, you know, Miguel Cabrera, Ronald the Cune Jr and of course I'm going to totally blank and who the third one is, but.

[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, Jose Al-Tubey.

[SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, a lot of stars.

[SPEAKER_02]: And I think like we talked with the Dominican lineup and talked with the USA lineup, that felt as well a lineup, but still incredibly strong.

[SPEAKER_02]: That was a really strong team.

[SPEAKER_02]: And exciting to see, you know.

[SPEAKER_03]: But we are here today to talk about the spring break at Rostras, which again, we will be at, we will love to be.

[SPEAKER_03]: I'm doing, after recording this recording this Wednesday night, it'll post on the on Thursday before the games go live.

[SPEAKER_03]: But I'll be at three games on Thursday.

[SPEAKER_03]: I am living the dream.

[SPEAKER_03]: I'm going to be at every Atlantic coast sign game.

[SPEAKER_03]: So we've got, I think it's start, I can't even remember.

[SPEAKER_03]: But basically, I'm going to see Cardinals, Astros, Met,

[SPEAKER_03]: Rays are coming across, and who did I forget there?

[SPEAKER_03]: That's my personal share of Park, Cardinals, and Marlott's Marlott's is the able to open up.

[SPEAKER_03]: So I'm seeing all of them tomorrow, and then I'll see I'll be at Braintton on Friday for Tiger's Pirates, and then I'll be in Clearwater for Philly's on Iggujays.

[SPEAKER_03]: On Saturday, you're seeing, I think, four games, or three.

[SPEAKER_02]: four.

[SPEAKER_02]: So I'll be at Philly's versus twins tomorrow.

[SPEAKER_02]: Then I'm going to attend red socks, at Oreels on Friday.

[SPEAKER_02]: Then Saturday, I'm going to double up.

[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to do the Philly's blue jays.

[SPEAKER_02]: And then I'm going to go see Braves at Yankees a little bit down the road.

[SPEAKER_02]: So try to do all

[SPEAKER_02]: There's a chance depending on how the Red Sox Orials game goes, how quickly it is, if it's like in the third inning over in Braden 10, I'm just crazy enough to drive over there and just see a few innings.

[SPEAKER_03]: So, so, okay, the rosters are out.

[SPEAKER_03]: Check out baseball they're going to come.

[SPEAKER_03]: We have all the analysis of all the games, all the rosters ranked every teams and tears and all that, you know, but.

[SPEAKER_03]: I want to say the like, again, I'm not faulting MLB on this.

[SPEAKER_03]: This kind of really falls on the teams.

[SPEAKER_03]: I know it's role-based while classic gear, which did kind of throw a little bit of a sand in the gears here because you do legitimately have players who are just getting back.

[SPEAKER_03]: I was at Met's camp on Tuesday and Nick Morbito.

[SPEAKER_03]: basically walks in and playing his first game now that he's done with team mentally, right?

[SPEAKER_03]: Elmer Rodriguez.

[SPEAKER_03]: There's a lot of these guys who have just gotten back.

[SPEAKER_03]: If your team made a deep run, you have been busy.

[SPEAKER_03]: And so I know that that's all true.

[SPEAKER_03]: But this one, this one I just feel like a little bit this year.

[SPEAKER_03]: We had the preliminary

[SPEAKER_03]: could basically be summarized by most teams.

[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think that most teams put a whole lot of work into that, because if you're including players who we know are not going to play until August or September at the earliest or on your prospective roster, you just went, yeah, I'll just put them on there, right?

[SPEAKER_03]: We saw that a lot, right?

[SPEAKER_03]: Like, again, I don't want to pick on a team because it's not like the card was relevant.

[SPEAKER_03]: It's like, look at the card was lost.

[SPEAKER_03]: It's like, I don't think each on Anderson or Brian and Clark are playing in this game, considering I don't think that they'll be pitching at that point.

[SPEAKER_03]: You look at the Marlins and it's like, I don't, I'm pretty sure Thomas White's not gonna be in this game since we don't think you'll be pitching, it's gonna be on the aisle to start the year, probably.

[SPEAKER_03]: Things like that, where just team after team

[SPEAKER_03]: It was like, it was meant to show here's what it could be, but when you have those roster hanging out there until the day before the game, it kind of feels like that the whole stuff got taken away from us when now the day before the game comes out and we're like, oh, it's not going to be comic-driven versus Kevin Gargoyle.

[SPEAKER_03]: Kevin Gargoyle is not going to be in the game.

[SPEAKER_03]: That kind of thing just, I felt like the rosters today felt very underwhelming in part because of what they roll out before.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah, I think that's a big part of it.

[SPEAKER_02]: I also think giving it a little bit of runway in terms of the roster release.

[SPEAKER_02]: Let's say it had been on Monday.

[SPEAKER_02]: And I don't think it takes a, it's not a good way from the WBC or something like that.

[SPEAKER_02]: you know, I wouldn't view it that way.

[SPEAKER_02]: So I think to me, I don't really understand like when the games are starting tomorrow, you're not really giving it the proper opportunity to maybe convince some folks to tune in, attend whatever.

[SPEAKER_02]: I think some of the names and like building up that release a little bit more and giving it like I said at least at least a few days run away if not a week and we understand there's injuries things happen guys get scratched dealing with someone getting scratched for a legitimate reason and just replaced by another player.

[SPEAKER_02]: That stuff happens all the time, right?

[SPEAKER_02]: Nothing's ever 100%.

[SPEAKER_02]: So I think if it's like trying to avoid that, then like, that's sort of silly.

[SPEAKER_02]: But I don't really understand the way that they did this with almost like full rosters.

[SPEAKER_02]: And as you said, they were players.

[SPEAKER_02]: I remember the reds in particular had, or she made the horials had guys

[SPEAKER_02]: are recovering from to Tommy John surgery that were listed and was like, well, that's impossible unless he's learned to throw it with the opposite arm.

[SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, it's one of those things where it's like, I don't, I don't fully understand.

[SPEAKER_02]: how it was released this year.

[SPEAKER_02]: But now at least we have some roster to look at, dig into and look forward to, I think next year's game and that whole tournament for the first time, there's a lot of interesting wrinkles that are coming.

[SPEAKER_02]: So everything's always a little pushed down because of the WBC.

[SPEAKER_02]: So you know, maybe that's just a collateral.

[SPEAKER_03]: Fair trade if we're doing that, we're trading it for WBC because WBC was incredible.

[SPEAKER_03]: that this is what's tricky also.

[SPEAKER_03]: We are in a year where you do have a lot of top prospects who are battling for big league jobs and teams have a different approach on this in some ways.

[SPEAKER_03]: I think partly teams, somewhat have a little bit different approach depending on whether you are playing at home or on the road, right?

[SPEAKER_03]: So we get Connor Griffin being playing for the pirates because it's in Braytonton, but we don't get Kevin McGonagall.

[SPEAKER_03]: Well, that shouldn't say that in times of Yankees are at home for this game on Saturday against the Braves, and they only have one of their top like 14 prospects in the game.

[SPEAKER_03]: Like, it is something where you're looking at the hand, because you're like, oh, we're going to get Spencer Jones, no, are you going to get.

[SPEAKER_03]: You know, Carlos, the wrong.

[SPEAKER_03]: Hey, no, are you going to ever already know, you can just go down the list is like, no, you're getting George one bar junior and then you're getting the back of the top 30, which is not a great top 30 and a lot of guys who aren't right the value, the quality of these.

[SPEAKER_03]: teams.

[SPEAKER_03]: I would say, we, again, we ranked them over there, but like you look at the bruer, the bruer's look really good.

[SPEAKER_03]: The mariners look really good.

[SPEAKER_03]: There are teams out there that are really kind of pretty stacked.

[SPEAKER_03]: Dodgers, Dodgers white socks game looks like it would be really good.

[SPEAKER_03]: There are some game out there.

[SPEAKER_02]: I think the cardinals, I thought that looked really good.

[SPEAKER_02]: I thought the race roster looked pretty good.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's not some of the the top names, but they always have a couple of like sneaky arms to that maybe, you know, you're going to see something a little different like Erbin is in it, free dose in it for rats in it, so yeah, you know, maybe there's another one or two guys that, you know, we're not all that familiar, we saw them all that familiar with

[SPEAKER_03]: A lot of good position players there, and that's one of the things we're going to do.

[SPEAKER_03]: So we're going to have a little game here for this today's podcast.

[SPEAKER_03]: So Jeff and I are going to ping pong back and forth, and we're going to try to pick out a player.

[SPEAKER_03]: You can do a couple if you want.

[SPEAKER_03]: And but we're going to try to keep it a little bit we're not going to tell you that you should check out Connor Griffin he's in this pirate's breakout game he's really good we kind of figure that if you're listening to this you know that so what we're going to do the rules is first round we're going to pick players who are excited to see who are top 10 prospects in our organization but not top 100 prospect no top 100 prospect on there.

[SPEAKER_03]: Then we're going to come back and we're going to top 30 prospects who are not top 10, and then we're going to do guys who are not on a top 30 for us, but, you know, we still are excited to see.

[SPEAKER_03]: So, Jeff, to kind of kick that off, who is the player that you are looking or players that you're looking forward to seeing, who are a top 10 prospecting organization, but not in the top 100.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, um, I think for me, it's Anthony Ionson, uh, the red socks and I think you're just looking at somebody who the reports already in the back feels have been really good.

[SPEAKER_02]: We've had multiple guys that have had eyes on eye and center reported on it in Josh Norris and Ian Cundall both in video go check it out on Twitter stuff is way up shapes improved Our signals a little bit tighter.

[SPEAKER_02]: We've seen this for the Red Sox before taking some of these college starters in the last couple of years and really developing them coming early being one course paint and totally being another one, etc, etc.

[SPEAKER_02]: There's a new crop.

[SPEAKER_02]: witherspoon, ayens and philips.

[SPEAKER_02]: I think all of those guys really make for interesting watching of all the spring break out games I'm attending.

[SPEAKER_02]: I think the one that I'm most excited for is that Orioles Red Sox game.

[SPEAKER_02]: Even though it's not gonna be the premier prime time matchup on that, you're gonna be there.

[SPEAKER_02]: I do really like that game and some of the depth on both sides.

[SPEAKER_02]: Those are guys I'm looking forward to.

[SPEAKER_02]: I always like to see the arms because I feel like I can take a lot more away from even a couple of endings and just seeing the stuff.

[SPEAKER_02]: Louie Daylion is one guy that had stuck out for me last year in the Oriole spring break out game.

[SPEAKER_02]: And now it's the top 100 prospects.

[SPEAKER_02]: So sometimes you do get decent looks, especially on the pitching, of just seeing the full arsenal, how it works, the velocity, how it's coming out of the hands, the angles, all that sort of stuff.

[SPEAKER_03]: So I'm going to go

[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, this is this one still like this is flush with guys, but I'm just going to pick a guy to highlight that stands out to me.

[SPEAKER_03]: It's not going to be a game.

[SPEAKER_03]: I'm going to be at, you know, be something I'll be checking out because again, all these games, by the way, we'll be available.

[SPEAKER_03]: Think MLB.com and many other avenues.

[SPEAKER_03]: We have the full list over in our how to watch at baseball America.com, but I'm going to highlight Reds.

[SPEAKER_03]: shortstop, and I put shortstop in quotation a bit, been playing more third base in big league spring train camp, and most scouts that you talked to don't think the shortstop long term athletic could be a set of fielder, could be a third baseman, but Tyson Lewis, who has real significant power.

[SPEAKER_03]: I would say the swing like has a little bit of kind of like, you know, maybe he's got to have to make a few adjustments as he climbs the ladder.

[SPEAKER_03]: But there's real juice there to go with real athleticism.

[SPEAKER_03]: We have seen him already have like 110, about an hour home run in Big League, Campy at 385 and is limited, Big League exposure this spring, but very excited to see him with mainly in low-A last year.

[SPEAKER_03]: It really say steel haul from that same ride, see when our short stop is a lot of young short stops from that draft class of last year, the draft class year before that, that are interesting to watch.

[SPEAKER_03]: But that's the guy that I'm gonna pick out.

[SPEAKER_03]: for a non top 10.

[SPEAKER_03]: But again, I think in both cases here, we're talking about guys who we feel like have a decent shot to be in the top 100 at some point this season, depending on how things go.

[SPEAKER_03]: So, okay.

[SPEAKER_03]: This one's for the dude's looking for peak bedroom performance.

[SPEAKER_01]: Bluechoo is the number one chewable ED brand and they just dropped their newest innovation.

[SPEAKER_01]: It is called the Bluechoo Gold.

[SPEAKER_00]: Bluechoo Gold dissolves under your tongue and works in as little as 15 minutes.

[SPEAKER_00]: Peak passion and peak performance in a single tablet.

[SPEAKER_01]: That's right, two ingredients for blood flow mixed with apomorphine and oxytocin that turn up the arousal and connection in your brain and body.

[SPEAKER_01]: This is the future of performance faster, smarter, and precision engineered for results, see why millions of men trust blue cheese.

[SPEAKER_01]: Now with a gold standard upgrade that's changing the game for good.

[SPEAKER_01]: Make life easier and discover your options at bluetooth.com and we've got a special deal for our FT listeners to get 10% off your first month of bluetooth gold with code of foul.

[SPEAKER_01]: That's promo code FOUL.

[SPEAKER_01]: Visit bluetooth.com for more details and important safety information and we thank bluetooth for sponsoring the podcast.

[SPEAKER_03]: It's back to you and Jeff, what about a non-top 10 prospect, but it is a top 30 prospect in our decision?

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so I'm going to draw a little bit from my early season back field experience.

[SPEAKER_02]: So it's been limited to one day and then another day that was about two innings and then I'm much jealous.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.

[SPEAKER_02]: And then it's a rental down for.

[SPEAKER_02]: And Hell Feliz is a really interesting athlete.

[SPEAKER_02]: It's a big body.

[SPEAKER_02]: He's pretty twitchy.

[SPEAKER_02]: There's power there.

[SPEAKER_02]: And I think just the change in developmental philosophy for some of these younger players who do have tools within the national's organization is just an interesting angle to watch.

[SPEAKER_02]: I think a lot of these guys just in terms of hitting approaches and developing bad speed and angles and like thinking about

[SPEAKER_02]: in a way that can be applied to actual performance and games.

[SPEAKER_02]: I think that's interesting.

[SPEAKER_02]: I think he's somebody that I saw was kind of intrigued by all the tools, the body, the projection, etc.

[SPEAKER_02]: And interested with that goes.

[SPEAKER_02]: I'm picking out one, even though I'm not going to be at this game, he's somebody that I saw early that kind of fits this description that I'm interested in watching and I think could be an interesting one.

[SPEAKER_02]: If I will throw out another one who's in the same game, but is one of my organizations.

[SPEAKER_02]: That's Daniel Ortiz, who's just outside of the top 10 of the Cardinals organization.

[SPEAKER_02]: Contacts skills are so so, but good power, good angles, good approach will be interested to see where that goes, kind of in year two, if maybe the contact improves a little bit.

[SPEAKER_02]: So that's another one.

[SPEAKER_02]: I think that's a really interesting game, actually, the national's and the cardinals.

[SPEAKER_03]: Well, this is like, this is, so mine is two guys I will get to see tomorrow, my second, my third game of the day.

[SPEAKER_03]: It'll be the prime time game.

[SPEAKER_03]: Met's race.

[SPEAKER_03]: And that's going to be the two catchers on the race, uh, raw roster, which is Catenbodine and Nathan Flowing.

[SPEAKER_03]: Who?

[SPEAKER_03]: Now, if you said, if I said trivia question, who's the best homegrown race catcher in organization history?

[SPEAKER_03]: It's kind of a question that almost doesn't have an answer.

[SPEAKER_03]: This is not a, that is not a position that the organization has really ever had any success at developing.

[SPEAKER_03]: You can call out the Curse of Buster Posey because there was the year that they had the, you know, they had the choice.

[SPEAKER_03]: And they took Tim Beckham and Buster Posey was on the board and they needed a catcher and, you know, maybe it's the Curse of Buster or whatever.

[SPEAKER_03]: But the rays actually do have very intriguing catching prospects now.

[SPEAKER_03]: And

[SPEAKER_03]: You know, we've talked about Bodine on various podcasts before was one of the best catching prospects in last year's draft questions about how much power I'm actually in fact is going to have but really good defensively really good contact skills are we kind of interested to see like okay I've received a little bit like I'm going to be I won't get to CBP I hate to say it but like I'll be in the car on my way there from the game before but I I'm also may be over at Charlotte on Friday after I get across alligator alley so maybe I'll see it there for that but I'm

[SPEAKER_03]: But he stands out, but I would really even highlight even more Nathan Flueling, because partly because Caden Botan was so famous in the draft, but Flueling had a great season last year, kind of been intriguing background, but like really,

[SPEAKER_03]: was more advanced last year than I would have ever imagined.

[SPEAKER_03]: He would be, I know we've talked about him, I think I think he was my prospect pick of the day on one of the podcast last year when we were doing we are basically our picks at the end of each day of each podcast.

[SPEAKER_03]: really good, back to ball, you know, but batting eye, but there's real athleticism, there's real power potential there, just a very intriguing kind of combo package.

[SPEAKER_03]: And these are the rays picking from the rays right now is kind of cheating on that because

[SPEAKER_03]: This list, you get into the late teens and you're still talking about guys who would be top 10 prospects in other organizations to trace that they made plus the draft fix they've had and all that kind of have really bulked up this system as far as it's depth of.

[SPEAKER_03]: I wouldn't say top end talent is top end talent is top 100 talent, but guys who are absolutely like, hey, I can easily project that got to be a big league regular of everything clicks.

[SPEAKER_03]: You get to the 1820 range, not many teams have guys here like, no, this is very plausible the back of the app.

[SPEAKER_03]: So, so that sends it back to you and this is the fun one.

[SPEAKER_03]: Now we're on to off of the top 30 guys who are in this game who we did not rank at the top 30 coming into the year.

[SPEAKER_03]: But we still want to look forward to watching them in this game.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so one of the guys I'm going to call out is another guy that, you know, I kind of heard some some positive things about and I had seen him pitch last year actually against the Carolina mudcats in the final season.

[SPEAKER_02]: Well, prior to future's game, Monty was in the lineup as was Louis Payne, and a variety of others, it was the full team.

[SPEAKER_02]: And it's Davian Garcia, right hand at pitcher for the Nationals, had a really good breaking ball, good pitchability, but fastball shape was good.

[SPEAKER_02]: velocity was like low 90s.

[SPEAKER_02]: He's up a few ticks, things seem to be trending up there.

[SPEAKER_02]: He's an arm that I was told to kind of watch for.

[SPEAKER_02]: And I actually think that game has really interesting pitching up both sides, but he's a guy that's not in the national's top 30 that I think could be you know potentially a name that creeps onto at some time.

[SPEAKER_03]: So mine's going to be one that it'll be another guy, cactus league.

[SPEAKER_03]: We're not focusing just on the great for league games, even though we are both going to be at great for league games.

[SPEAKER_03]: Azus cano and Josh Norris will be covering the cactus league for untramed ill-vitual will be out there too.

[SPEAKER_03]: So we'll have play of coverage out there too.

[SPEAKER_03]: We by the way, I should know.

[SPEAKER_03]: Our goal is is we will have someone staffing every single breakout game.

[SPEAKER_03]: So we should be able to see all of the prospects again.

[SPEAKER_03]: Think 52 top hundred prospects, which is always great to say, because used to be, I've been able to be a long enough that it was long time ago.

[SPEAKER_03]: It was like crazy to think that we would ever have a point where we'd see every top under prospect.

[SPEAKER_03]: And now we see in person every top hundred prospect, basically it's not even hard for us to be honest.

[SPEAKER_03]: breakout games help for that, but we'll see 52.

[SPEAKER_03]: We'll see over half of our top 100 in a four-day span, which is kind of crazy.

[SPEAKER_03]: But so I'm going to go with Diamondback's Avery Ohusu, Ossieto, who

[SPEAKER_03]: is a very kind of interesting profile.

[SPEAKER_03]: He is, it's been a slow burn for him, grabbed it out of Canada, Canadian background.

[SPEAKER_03]: And 22 hasn't really kind of like he was a Philly's prospecting, he was traded very minor trades in the D-backs last year.

[SPEAKER_03]: Um, but it's got a little bit of time with the Big League camp.

[SPEAKER_03]: He's shown some really strong power in those little looks against, you know, again, big links bring things always been kind of a good straight line athlete, you know, he's a, you can run well, you especially wants to get underway, but the real power here as well, I am not like to get this is not something or I'm like, oh,

[SPEAKER_03]: He's someone who, why do we not have them in the top 30?

[SPEAKER_03]: I completely get why he was not in our top 30.

[SPEAKER_03]: He is someone who you would say right now, I wanna see more of.

[SPEAKER_03]: Bye.

[SPEAKER_03]: There are loud tools there.

[SPEAKER_03]: There are interesting tools to kind of pay attention to.

[SPEAKER_03]: And with that being the case, that's the guy that I'm going to, you know, maybe he runs into one.

[SPEAKER_03]: And we see like a 112 EV, a 114 EV where you're like, okay, I really saw something that I may we see that in a good spirit speed as well.

[SPEAKER_03]: Because he's also all be in a, you know, stat cast.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, guys like that are built for games like this.

[SPEAKER_03]: All right, you know, that's one of the things that I really do

[SPEAKER_03]: I would say that it's like that's one of the things that I think is this kind of almost as important as it's, let me get it's great.

[SPEAKER_03]: You've got to see, I think you've gotten so far, you've had the best breakout luck of us, right?

[SPEAKER_03]: Because you're one, you were at the main event, which was schemes versus holiday.

[UNKNOWN]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_03]: You're two, you're at the Red Sox game where you just got to see great prospects do great things, Roman Anthony and...

[SPEAKER_02]: And I think it's when the Roman Anthony, you know, lore began, right?

[SPEAKER_02]: Like that was like the beginning of his like collection of the natural moments.

[SPEAKER_02]: He's had recently, but that home run, and then he had the the 470 foot home run or whatever it was at polar park in AAA before he got called up.

[SPEAKER_02]: And then he had that, that obviously got massive.

[SPEAKER_02]: home run in the semi final to help propel the United States into, you know, the world baseball classic final.

[SPEAKER_02]: So he's had some historic moments and I felt like that was like in a year like all that happened in his first year, you know, like big league year.

[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, I think it's that was kind of like the jump them off point that that was a really good moment.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's it's been a good collection of games.

[SPEAKER_02]: We'll see hopefully I get lucky like that again.

[SPEAKER_02]: I'd love to see that.

[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if I'm going to, but.

[SPEAKER_03]: So I didn't before the end of the day, I didn't want to like I'm going to go one now really far off and feel free you think you can do one to Jeff you won't, but again, we are hitting the back feels I've gotten a little bit more back feel action because I've not been covering the world baseball classic.

[SPEAKER_03]: I've been covering it.

[SPEAKER_03]: I've been watching every game every night, but I've been more a little bit more on the back.

[SPEAKER_03]: But I would say with that, this is again, we always talk about how great the back fields are, where you can see multiple games going on at one time.

[SPEAKER_03]: Very relaxed at this fear.

[SPEAKER_03]: Great works of that.

[SPEAKER_03]: But today was not one of those days where everything went right, right?

[SPEAKER_03]: Because get out there.

[SPEAKER_03]: It's misty.

[SPEAKER_03]: It's rainy.

[SPEAKER_03]: Pull off by my master's camp.

[SPEAKER_03]: And.

[SPEAKER_03]: I realized pretty quickly it's like, oh, that's Astro's players in both dugouts.

[SPEAKER_03]: And I kind of figured there was a chance of this, but yeah, the, you know, the thing that they were playing, supposed to put the cardinals, A ball teams, and because of the weather, they banged it.

[SPEAKER_03]: So they had live BPs instead, which it's not the same.

[SPEAKER_03]: This is pictures on the mound, they sing their teammates, and the teammates were not wearing numbers or anything like that.

[SPEAKER_03]: So,

[SPEAKER_03]: There is no way to absolutely to know, like, okay, here are there are 40 astros hitters hitting between these two fields.

[SPEAKER_03]: I'm not going to know, you know, I can ask every now and then, but I'm not going to know every hit or not that.

[SPEAKER_03]: So.

[SPEAKER_03]: It's okay, but you make what you can out of it.

[SPEAKER_03]: And then you have these moments where something happens.

[SPEAKER_03]: And you're like, oh, this was well worth my trip out here today.

[SPEAKER_03]: Because I got one of those like, hey, this guy I've never heard of this guy in any way to shape or form.

[SPEAKER_03]: I feel pretty confident, Jeff, he's not on your Astro's depth chart.

[SPEAKER_03]: But I want Charlie Weber, who is a pitcher from St. Louis, Billiken, I might say St. Louis, I mean, the university.

[SPEAKER_03]: It was a non-drafted free agent of the Astros, and I just saw this dude, he's a side armor.

[SPEAKER_03]: He could go submarine, he was up to, really 91's and 2's today, but I've just told he's been up to 5's and 6's at some points this spring.

[SPEAKER_03]: He gets low enough that I actually saw him throw when I would describe as I was like an up shoot.

[SPEAKER_03]: Like he had a breaking ball that broke up.

[SPEAKER_03]: But he was electric to watch.

[SPEAKER_03]: Again, it's BP, but he faced six batters.

[SPEAKER_03]: He struck out the first four.

[SPEAKER_03]: One of whom actually dropped out of the batters box on called Strike 3, which I wish I had a video of that.

[SPEAKER_03]: I don't have a video of that, but it was great.

[SPEAKER_03]: Like he'd tucked out of the way, like he thought it was gonna get hit.

[SPEAKER_03]: But it was actually, again, that just gives you an idea of how hard a look that is that angle from a right,

[SPEAKER_03]: But he ended up striking out five of the six better sea faced.

[SPEAKER_03]: I thought he was going to go six or six, but just credit some unnamed astros inter did actually finally put a bat on ball and put the ball in play.

[SPEAKER_03]: There was no probably would have been a ground out to second base, but there were no fielders.

[SPEAKER_03]: So that was a win was just putting the ball in play.

[SPEAKER_03]: But that was good.

[SPEAKER_03]: That was just a fun like, hey, I got to see this, you know, random player who I've never saw and I will

[SPEAKER_03]: If you told me, I would, I'm not going to say 100% that Charlie Weber, who I don't really believe has basically in a significant pro experience of any sort right now, it was an on top for each and I'm not going to say 100% this guy's a big leader, but I will tell you right now seeing him today.

[SPEAKER_03]: I would not be surprised in any way, if you see this guy if you, you know, future Big League pen, you can see he does, he's unusual.

[SPEAKER_03]: That's always important.

[SPEAKER_03]: If you said, how would he fit in a bull pen, a right hander who can get right handers out who can get ground balls?

[SPEAKER_03]: But not only that, but is a different arm angle so that it's gonna make it a little bit more uncomfortable for hitters.

[SPEAKER_03]: You know, they're gonna have to definitely be on the tragic machine before it,

[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know, but I don't know, is anyone that you wanted it like any other like fines you've had in in your very limited backfield looks so far.

[SPEAKER_02]: Ooh.

[SPEAKER_03]: That's fine.

[SPEAKER_03]: You're okay to say no.

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think, yeah, I think I think I think at this point.

[SPEAKER_02]: No, because I've had such limited looks between the Nats, Marlin's game that lasted two innings.

[SPEAKER_02]: And then today with the red socks, it was, and the twins, it was the triple end of a late team.

[SPEAKER_02]: So it was a lot of prospects that are going to play in the breakout games.

[SPEAKER_02]: Guys that you know, guys that have been big league camp, top 100 prospects, frankenarius,

[SPEAKER_02]: K-Link Hall Pepper was in that game, Gabriel Gonzalez, so it was guys like that and it was all big league pitchers, it was like all both on both sides, so

[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it wasn't, it wasn't like I've seen a ton of it yet.

[SPEAKER_02]: I'll see more backfields probably after spring break out, frankly.

[SPEAKER_02]: But we were here because I was covering WBC and then we just had such rain on the east coast when I was out there that every day it pretty much rained.

[SPEAKER_02]: It wasn't until I was like a half hour outside of Fort Myers all of a sudden the rain stopped and I actually saw sun for the first time in Florida.

[SPEAKER_02]: That sounded like a three hour window on Monday.

[SPEAKER_03]: been pretty rainy here so far, but hopefully that will hold off especially to Marvel in the next day, because we've got lots of breakout games to watch.

[SPEAKER_03]: So we'll have a lot more breakout coverage over at baseballamerica.com, and we'll be back next week, um, hopefully a regular schedule for the Prospect podcast, but we do, you know, sorry that we had to wait today, but hey, we're glad to be here, we're glad to be getting to do this, and we thank you as

[SPEAKER_03]: For Jeff, I'm JJ.

[SPEAKER_03]: So long, everybody.
