[SPEAKER_01]: Hey everybody, JJ Cooper Jeff Ponds.

[SPEAKER_01]: Josh Norris, hey Zeus could know here on the baseball America Hot Sheet Show.

[SPEAKER_01]: Sorry we're running a little bit late today, but we are excited to join you and talk prospects all day today because it is MLB opening day part two is coming up later this week.

[SPEAKER_01]: And with that, we want you to be ready.

[SPEAKER_01]: So we have all the prospect profiles are now up on Baseball America's YouTube channel.

[SPEAKER_01]: So you can see our breakdowns of the number one prospect in each and every organization.

[SPEAKER_01]: Check that out on the YouTube channel.

[SPEAKER_01]: And let's go to the first move.

[SPEAKER_01]: care of big name, big prospect extensions that have broken over the last couple of days.

[SPEAKER_01]: We have the Mariners signing Colt Emerson to an eight year 95 million dollar contract.

[SPEAKER_01]: Could be more than that has two club options on it as well.

[SPEAKER_01]: Could lock him up in Seattle through 2036, 2035, I guess.

[SPEAKER_01]: That is a long ways away.

[SPEAKER_01]: And also on top of that, the brewers have come to an extension with short-stop prospect Cooper Pratt.

[SPEAKER_01]: Way a deal that could be $50 million, again, there are other details that could bump it up a little bit, but we have two top prospects here, two top 100 prospects, who have both signed long-term extensions before they've ever played their first game in the major leagues.

[SPEAKER_01]: We have seen this, this is not a new development, but Jeff, I'll start with you.

[SPEAKER_01]: does either of these surprise you more than the other and what do you think this means kind of from the big picture?

[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, you know, the Emerson one personally doesn't surprise me at all.

[SPEAKER_05]: I think just since the this wing changes were made, you know, in the middle part of last year, he's really taken off consistently as on the barrel of the bats and the zone a lot longer, allowing him to adjust, just make better quality contact.

[SPEAKER_05]: I think as a defender, probably not a short stop long term, but probably the long-term answer at third base for them.

[SPEAKER_05]: Kind of interesting, you know, how this will all shake out in terms of, you know, this Mariners lineup, Cole Young, has been pretty good to start the season, Brendan Donovan has really been, you know, hitting the ball pretty hard with, you know, in his new environment with his new team.

[SPEAKER_05]: Donovan, though, has played the outfields, you know, Dominicans own a somebody that was mentioned to me by some folks around the team that

[SPEAKER_05]: You know, potentially, if Emerson slides in, maybe they end up moving down of into the outfield, which could be kind of interesting and certainly, I think strengthens that lineup long term.

[SPEAKER_05]: So, the Emerson one doesn't surprise me.

[SPEAKER_05]: I think that, you know, ultimately you're buying out

[SPEAKER_05]: You know, cheaper years up front to save in the back end, buy out a couple of free agent years.

[SPEAKER_05]: I also think that, you know, with some of the, the impending labor conversations and stuff that could take place over the next year, we might be looking at teams that are trying to sort of, maybe lock up players for longer terms than players might be under contract for following the new CBA.

[SPEAKER_05]: There could be some changes without, especially if we are gonna see a salary cap.

[SPEAKER_05]: that would be one place where potentially the players could gain leverage.

[SPEAKER_05]: On the other side of the brewers, I'm a little surprised with the Cooper Pratt extension.

[SPEAKER_05]: I think Cooper Pratt is a good prospect, a strong defender, a solid enough hitter.

[SPEAKER_05]: There's maybe a little bit more projection in the power and the body.

[SPEAKER_05]: So there could be more to come.

[SPEAKER_05]: The brewers are a smart organization.

[SPEAKER_05]: They're usually not going to make a move like this unless they really believe in the player.

[SPEAKER_05]: But I would say that this is a little bit more of a shocking development when it comes to the names that we've seen extended over the last couple of years.

[SPEAKER_05]: You know, I know Christian Campbell certainly hated work out so far.

[SPEAKER_05]: But you know, he was a top five to ten prospects, somebody that was

[SPEAKER_05]: You know, the minor league player the year for us the year prior and certainly somebody that was discussed coming into last season as a player that, you know, potentially could be a full time every day guy for the Red Sox.

[SPEAKER_05]: So this is a little bit of a surprise because I still kind of looked at proud as maybe being a year or so away.

[SPEAKER_01]: So Josh, a lot of the response with Pratt is, okay, that Josh, that he's not necessarily is not gonna have a monster year last year with the bat, but you've seen Pratt for a number of years here.

[SPEAKER_01]: He is our number of 50 prospect in our top 100.

[SPEAKER_01]: What do you think kind of is the long-term potential for Pratt?

[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I haven't seen him in a long time outside of a couple of games here there, but you know, he's always been given like stronger scouting grades than the numbers might suggest.

[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm not surprised there, and the Brewers are like Jeff said a really smart organization.

[SPEAKER_00]: and I kind of trust their decision making in that regard.

[SPEAKER_00]: However, I was stunned by both these deals, just because, you know, as of right this moment, they have 12 games combined in AAA.

[SPEAKER_00]: And right now, AAA is as far from the gap between AAA and the big leagues is incredibly difficult, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: Our economy is large right now.

[SPEAKER_00]: So I personally would want

[SPEAKER_00]: Success at Triple A and quite personal preference in the big league before I would hand out contracts like this, but you know, they've got more information than I do and the players have certainly had varying degrees of success.

[SPEAKER_00]: So good on them and good on the players, but I was stunned by both of them.

[SPEAKER_01]: So there is a piece up at baseballamerica.com right now talking about this kind of one thing one perspective that I would just kind of lay out for this is this is an example of where the teams kind of can mitigate risk in a way that players don't.

[SPEAKER_01]: Players have one one career, right?

[SPEAKER_01]: So in Cold Emerson's case, this may be a contract where

[SPEAKER_01]: you look back on this and it's like the Ronald Acunia contract if everything goes right.

[SPEAKER_01]: Um, your son is our number seven prospect in the game.

[SPEAKER_01]: So if he becomes a star, this is going to be a contract that is a massive amount of surplus value for the Mariners.

[SPEAKER_01]: However,

[SPEAKER_01]: Emerson gets one career.

[SPEAKER_01]: If it doesn't work out, if he has an injury, anything like that, then you are talking about the difference between $95 million.

[SPEAKER_01]: And $150 is not the same as the difference between zero and 95.

[SPEAKER_01]: And the same thing in the case of Pratt as well.

[SPEAKER_01]: That is kind of a fascinating, a pair of fascinating, such as maybe we'll see more this week.

[SPEAKER_01]: Does mean also these players should be going on to the 40-man roster and probably means we will be seeing them sooner rather than later, depending on how all this goes.

[SPEAKER_01]: But we want to also take a look though now about.

[SPEAKER_01]: These rosters that we have, we just finished up all being on the backfield seeing spring training games.

[SPEAKER_01]: Spring Spring Breakout game.

[SPEAKER_01]: So we want to take a look at what you need to know for the minor league season triple is already going But we got double a high a low a getting ready to roll later this week, and we'll do this right after this quick break This one's for the dudes looking for that peak bedroom performance.

[SPEAKER_04]: It's blue chip.

[SPEAKER_01]: It is time for the MILB season preview presented by GameChanger.

[SPEAKER_01]: More on GameChanger in a moment, but we want to get you ready for the minor league season.

[SPEAKER_01]: Rostors are rolling in.

[SPEAKER_01]: We're taking a look.

[SPEAKER_01]: We'll have a lot more about those at baseballamerica.com over the next few days where are the top 100 prospects are.

[SPEAKER_01]: We're the top 30 prospects are.

[SPEAKER_01]: What are the most loaded teams across the minors?

[SPEAKER_01]: But Josh?

[SPEAKER_01]: We also want to get you ready for players who are taking that step forward, players who we think may be kind of the players who will be the top of the top prospects list at the end of this year or even during the season.

[SPEAKER_01]: And there's a number of pitchers who really stand out, but I know in talking to you that you could not be more excited about what you have seen and what you are hearing from scouts and other evaluators about Mariners' right-hander Ryan Sloan.

[SPEAKER_01]: What is it about him that has him kind of on the cusp of taking another step forward?

[SPEAKER_00]: He's just bigger, he's stronger, he's more physical.

[SPEAKER_00]: He knows what to do with his mix.

[SPEAKER_00]: I saw him in the prospect game, and you can't check off any more boxes than he did.

[SPEAKER_00]: It was just bullyball for three innings before Kate Anderson came in.

[SPEAKER_00]: You're talking about the upper 90s fastball with life that dives under barrels.

[SPEAKER_00]: You're talking about a sweeper that he can land or sweep away.

[SPEAKER_00]: You're talking about a potential plus changeup.

[SPEAKER_00]: A cutter he can back door against left handed hitters.

[SPEAKER_00]: He knows what to do with everything, and they didn't have a chance against him for those things.

[SPEAKER_00]: I saw him last year around that time too on the backfields, and I was blown away too, and I think this guy is going to be at the very top of the Mariners rotation for a very long time.

[SPEAKER_00]: You know, pick your power pitcher that has come through in the last 10, 15, 20 years and he has a spot right there with him.

[SPEAKER_00]: You can't get much better than what I saw each of the last two turns.

[SPEAKER_00]: I was super disappointed that I didn't get a second turn at Adam quite frankly.

[SPEAKER_00]: And the fact that they're jumping into double A speaks volumes.

[SPEAKER_01]: If there is just the one right handed pitching prospect, little further away could develop mentally, but could match it may be stuff for stuff.

[SPEAKER_01]: You and I both got to see Seth Fernandez in the last couple of weeks.

[SPEAKER_01]: What could the pirates write, Andrew?

[SPEAKER_01]: Their first ground pick in 2025.

[SPEAKER_01]: What could he be and what should we expect to see from him?

[SPEAKER_01]: As he starts to season, I believe it, low ab rate.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, he'll start at Loway, Bradenton, and I just finished writing his capsule for an article.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm coming up tomorrow detailing a bunch of guys high and low on the backfields and the way I closed it was the only thing stopping him from being the number one starter in the pirate's rotation his name Paul Scheme.

[SPEAKER_00]: Like, he's that level of good, it's projection, it's body, it's fluidity of movement, it's current stuff, you know, you're talking 96, 98 fastball, I know it's 102 in the prospect game, that's a one in the kind of blow it out sort of scenario, the breaking stuff is there in flashes, the change up is filthy.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's all you could want for a guy of this level.

[SPEAKER_00]: He knows what he's doing on the mound, and the hitters I saw went face with the brave just did not have a chance.

[SPEAKER_00]: I think Sloan and Hernandez, depending on how their seasons go, will be one and two in our prospect rankings, as far as pitchers go, by midseason or when the guys like painter and the savage vacate those spots.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to put my money on Sloan for a number one and that just because a little more advanced at this point, but if you told me it was Fernandez that wouldn't be surprised either.

[SPEAKER_01]: But Jeff, there's so many pictures who kind of like one of the things we talked about before, we went down to spring training, is how the pictures really jump out.

[SPEAKER_01]: There's a red socks picture who's also kind of taken a big step forward and no, it's not maybe the one you think.

[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, it's not where they're spoon, you know, it's not even fill-ups.

[SPEAKER_05]: I think who, you know, both have, you know, certainly there's strengths.

[SPEAKER_05]: It's Anthony Ionson.

[SPEAKER_05]: And I think he's the one when you talk to people about this trio of, you know, top of the draft sort of picks for the Red Sox.

[SPEAKER_05]: It's the first time in decades or probably, maybe the existence of the draft and the organization that they've gone this heavy with pitching and college pitching this early and spent that kind of money.

[SPEAKER_05]: And it looks like the biggest return in investment is science, and you can kind of see it in this video here.

[SPEAKER_05]: This is sitting 98 to 100 miles an hour.

[SPEAKER_05]: His softest fastball in this one and spring break out game in Josh kind of mentioned it with Seth Hernandez.

[SPEAKER_05]: Of course, the velocity is going to be up a little bit.

[SPEAKER_05]: He didn't throw a single fastball at LSU or in college that was as hard as his softest fastball in this outing.

[SPEAKER_05]: Very similar to the looks that Josh is what was Ian got in the backfields.

[SPEAKER_05]: He tunnels all of his stuff really well.

[SPEAKER_05]: And I think you're looking at this arm slot.

[SPEAKER_05]: And you know, I described it as, you know, 100 miles an hour kind of coming out of his mouth.

[SPEAKER_05]: Like,

[SPEAKER_05]: It's so over the top and kind of catapults on guys and he's able to tunnel everything off of it that You know when you look at those three pictures he was certainly the most impressive look at that group and I'd argue he was probably the most impressive pitching prospect I saw across

[SPEAKER_05]: 13 different of the 15 teams in Florida that I saw when I was down there for two weeks.

[SPEAKER_05]: It was a really, really loud inning and I think once this guy proves that he can do it in a regular season game as a starter, there's a good chance that he's catapulting and jumping out of that top 100 was frankly.

[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.

[SPEAKER_01]: We've been talking pictures.

[SPEAKER_01]: Hey Zeus, save us.

[SPEAKER_01]: There are hitters that we want to talk about too.

[SPEAKER_01]: One of the ones I want to bring up is someone that you kind of broke the news a month ago that

[SPEAKER_01]: The giants have the top prospect who's going to be moving to the U.S. a lot quicker than is normal for the normal progression of an international signing, but who jumped out to you, who've you seen on the back heels?

[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I think the talk in the backfields, I mean, on the minor league session no matter where you went to, there probably wasn't as hype when it came to talking about Luis Hernandez for the Giants.

[SPEAKER_03]: Obviously, top international signing, and he's shown it from the moment he's arrived to the accomplice.

[SPEAKER_03]: In fact, here at Baseball, America, we actually got a video of him hitting his Homer.

[SPEAKER_03]: I want to say was the first state side Homer, at least in what's the called in in spring training play.

[SPEAKER_03]: And I mean, just the way that he brings to the table and he brings a polished mature approach to the plate.

[SPEAKER_03]: Really, those had a control to Stripes though, and he keeps the swing in short and quick, and just consistently able to put the balls in play.

[SPEAKER_03]: And that's kind of what I've been able to see throughout the entire spring.

[SPEAKER_03]: You know, I think there's a lot of power that could come with it.

[SPEAKER_03]: And when you look at his body right now for a 17-year-old kid, I wouldn't say it's maxed out, but I think he's definitely more physically advanced in most 17-year-olds.

[SPEAKER_03]: And I'm not sure exactly how much room to come in.

[SPEAKER_03]: But with that being said, as he continues to mature in face high level pitching, I think there's a legitimate chance to have 20 plus home renter as he continues to develop.

[SPEAKER_03]: And I think just has insane long term upside, you know, he plays a clean short stuff and just is able to hit the ball with a lot of power.

[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I cannot, you know, just stress the amount of height that comes into when he's hitting on the back field.

[SPEAKER_03]: It seems like

[SPEAKER_03]: whenever he steps up to the plate like the attention around everywhere, whether there's multiple games going on, whether there's multiple scouts, player development, everybody just sits in and just watches it from his teammates to the random people that don't even, you know, necessarily no who he is and they're just there to experience it.

[SPEAKER_03]: So, I mean, just what he's shown on the back feels has really just stuck to that.

[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, this is a kid who coming into, you know, the state side they do was, you know,

[SPEAKER_03]: blasting it in the in the what's it called been in sweatily that he played it has a 16 17 year old against pitching that had you know double a some AAA experience I mean that just says a lot DSL was needed all I feel like this was something that you could see come in into fruition him going straight to the states, but obviously if you don't have the right information you have the correct information you know to we do here at being reported on him going out there and there's just a lot of hype behind it right now.

[SPEAKER_01]: So, okay, that makes with Feluse Fernandez coming, Josh Morgan's all of us becomes kind of like, you know, last year's news in some ways, but not like, I mean, but obviously, he was the guy who was, the guy we were talking about this way last year, but what are you seeing also from another giant short stop prospect?

[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, so unfortunately, right now, just towards out on out for a couple of weeks, he suffered an injury while running the bases in a game the other day over about two weeks ago, but I mean, it's it's incredible to know because Giants formed director Kyle Haynes confirmed that both of these guys were going to start up in the Arizona complex, so both of those guys are going to be playing there.

[SPEAKER_03]: And, you know, they're both talented players, but they both have really different profiles.

[SPEAKER_03]: Obviously, I just went into Hernandez and everything he brings.

[SPEAKER_03]: I think in regards to Joe Swart, you know, I think he's a guy who, you know, it's tough to say.

[SPEAKER_03]: The bat is really there, but also the defense is amazing, the base running is amazing, the speed is amazing.

[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, this is a guy who, last year, like I mentioned, we were there present for it, hit a inside the park homeer and hit an opposite field, a homeer in the very same game, which doesn't even happen in the majors a lot to begin with, right?

[SPEAKER_03]: And I think just the way his swing is just so smooth, able to do it from both sides of the plate has a really good hit tool.

[SPEAKER_03]: In the power is just going to start to come back over time.

[SPEAKER_03]: And I think the key thing that's going to be interesting, and I had this conversation with Kyle Haynes about this situation is that

[SPEAKER_03]: Obviously Hernandez, the one being healthy right now is going to get most of the abats up until Joe Swork and Dollars return.

[SPEAKER_03]: But then you're going to have two guys who are penciled into play shortstop.

[SPEAKER_03]: And I think both have the versatility.

[SPEAKER_03]: I think Hernandez could slide over to on days where both of the month and the lineup and you want to get Joe Swark a little bit more time.

[SPEAKER_03]: You put him, Joe Swark shortstop.

[SPEAKER_03]: Hernandez sat there at base and on days you want to see Hernandez play shortstop.

[SPEAKER_03]: You move over Joe Swark a second base.

[SPEAKER_03]: So I think it's a really good, exciting thing that the giants have gone down right now at Pop, but I mean, seem to guys with a lot of potential.

[SPEAKER_03]: And the giants have had obviously history with international prospects, right?

[SPEAKER_03]: You know, we could go back to Marco Luciano and Luis Matos.

[SPEAKER_03]: Those guys have a lot of questions, you know, dating back to their play and their swing and miss as they were coming up.

[SPEAKER_03]: And I'm not here in a lot of that when it comes to both Gonzalez and Hernandez.

[SPEAKER_03]: So I think the giants, you know, have learned clurleses about the bell and its stuff like that.

[SPEAKER_03]: Now they have two guys that if they get it right, if they're able to help them push them out properly, I think they're going to be a mainstay in San Francisco for two or three years whenever they get promoted up there.

[SPEAKER_01]: So we've talked about some of the prospects.

[SPEAKER_01]: We've talked about some of the players.

[SPEAKER_01]: But there are also our organizations that would say that jumped out to us from what we saw.

[SPEAKER_01]: Jeff, you and I both got to see the Nats.

[SPEAKER_01]: And I think we're kind of both in agreement on this.

[SPEAKER_01]: That it's like, hey, I do think that we're seeing rebuild part two step two, really based around a lot around that 2025 draft class,

[SPEAKER_01]: And the trades I've made in the off season is off to a pretty solid start.

[SPEAKER_01]: But what has you kind of optimistic about kind of the farm system for the net?

[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I think, you know, it had been a few years since I had been on the East Coast for spring training.

[SPEAKER_05]: So the last time I was there was kind of when the, you know, nobody cares how hard you throw ball four signs rock.

[SPEAKER_05]: There's a lot of big leaders that I watched the 90s and early 2000s is kind of Roman the fields.

[SPEAKER_05]: Just a very different set up.

[SPEAKER_05]: They have the big screens there now.

[SPEAKER_05]: All the data is up and available to everybody.

[SPEAKER_05]: The way that player development talks about players for an office folks are talking about players.

[SPEAKER_05]: The type of targets that they're going after, whether it's in trades as far as prospects.

[SPEAKER_05]: And even some of the guys that they're moving on to the 40-man roster, they've been DFA.

[SPEAKER_05]: They're taking chances on bigger tools.

[SPEAKER_05]: more athletic players.

[SPEAKER_05]: I think the guys that nor in the organization that are skilled the guy like Eli Willis who is not drafted by this organization, I do think sort of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of

[SPEAKER_05]: Um, someone like Will, it's could blow up, you know, Gavin Fiend as far as hitting, looked as good as just about anybody I saw on the backfields or in the spring break out games.

[SPEAKER_05]: Louis Parallis is back to looking like what Parallis looked like.

[SPEAKER_05]: Prior to his injury, I saw three or four runnings in the backfields.

[SPEAKER_05]: He was 97 and 98 in the fastball throwing a hard cutter a lot more almost, like in lieu of his fastball, a couple of different breaking ball shapes, everything was landed in the zone.

[SPEAKER_05]: then even guys like Ronnie Cruz who was, you know, once again a guy that was acquired by the previous regime, he looked really good, the batsbeads up, they're pretty confident on him, other guys like Davian who was in the low a last year writing to picture his velocities up.

[SPEAKER_05]: You're seeing a lot of these stories and I think the other thing is you look at the organization,

[SPEAKER_05]: And where they were at a year ago, we sort of break down a bunch of different metrics when you do these stat cast breakdowns at the end of the year for each minor legal organization.

[SPEAKER_05]: We look at the entirety of the organization and sort of what the trends are.

[SPEAKER_05]: The nationals were a team that made a fair amount of contact.

[SPEAKER_05]: The swing decisions were pretty bad.

[SPEAKER_05]: They actually hit the ball pretty hard, but it bad angles.

[SPEAKER_05]: And then as far as pitching, they didn't have a lot of stuff.

[SPEAKER_05]: And it was kind of if you when it came to strikes where, you know, I think now

[SPEAKER_05]: You know, they're setting their KPIs and kind of focusing on meeting some of these benchmarks in terms of better swing decisions.

[SPEAKER_05]: hard contact at better angles, more strikes and better stuff competing in the zone.

[SPEAKER_05]: So I think you kind of look at across the board at there's a lot of low hanging fruit here.

[SPEAKER_05]: And even some of these players that maybe spotter or stalled out on the other other regime, they have an opportunity to kind of start a little bit new here.

[SPEAKER_05]: And we could see some players pop that we might have considered not prospects any longer a few years ago.

[SPEAKER_05]: I do think that there's a lot of players in this organization that have a lot of upside potentially just because of the change in player development and focus and more modern practices and better tracking, etc.

[SPEAKER_01]: Speaking of another organization, this kind of lived at the bottom of our old talent ranking for a number of years, but unfortunately, I'm going to have to ask you keep this one quick so we can get to our break.

[SPEAKER_01]: But 30 seconds or so, why is it that the angels impressed you on the backfields?

[SPEAKER_00]: I'll keep it real short, pitching, velocity.

[SPEAKER_00]: They've got a ton of it, the college guys, I mean, I didn't even get to see Bremner or Shores, but I heard they were pretty good.

[SPEAKER_00]: I got it really jumped out to me with Nate Sneed.

[SPEAKER_00]: Big time velocity, three different fastballs.

[SPEAKER_00]: Slider that falls off the table, change up now and then.

[SPEAKER_00]: Now is your victor who you guys saw in the World Baseball Classic or the Fall League.

[SPEAKER_00]: He continued his run of dominance.

[SPEAKER_00]: Guys like that, really a Dylan Jordan, Tray Gregory Alford.

[SPEAKER_00]: There's a lot of arms bubbling in the bottom of that system that I think is going to propel it out of the true seller of our rankings.

[SPEAKER_01]: Well, that was our minor league season preview presented by GameChanger.

[SPEAKER_01]: The number one new sports app that helps you coach smarter, connect live, and replay the action.

[SPEAKER_01]: So to wrap this up on Final Sprint, another thing that we are seeing this week, which all three of us, all four of us, I guess, have this is no surprise because we've seen an action in the minors, but we are seeing the major league rollout of the ABS system, the challenge system.

[SPEAKER_01]: And we've seen fans kind of really kind of, seem to enjoy it so far.

[SPEAKER_01]: We saw the moment where you had to go swara as tap that hub at twice a row and basically turn two strike threes in the ball to ball three.

[SPEAKER_01]: But the thing that we have a piece of up at baseball america.com about today is about the fact that we we look at this.

[SPEAKER_01]: This is kind of yet another of kind of how the miners help the majors now in that time after time.

[SPEAKER_01]: Baseball, Major League Baseball, has used the miners to kind of work out any flaws, any issues before rules changes come to the major leagues.

[SPEAKER_01]: The ABS system, the challenge system, was tried and triple-eye for multiple years.

[SPEAKER_01]: And we saw a system where they tried full ABS.

[SPEAKER_01]: compared to the challenge system and they found that everyone seemed like the challenge system better.

[SPEAKER_01]: We've seen this with a multitude.

[SPEAKER_01]: The pitch clock is something that was tried and fixed in AAA.

[SPEAKER_01]: The strike zone that we're using for the ABS challenge system is something that was shrouded.

[SPEAKER_01]: By the way, all the things that you are now hearing is, well, why don't they do this?

[SPEAKER_01]: They tried most of those.

[SPEAKER_01]: They did have a 3D box.

[SPEAKER_01]: at one point very early in the use of robot lumps.

[SPEAKER_01]: They did trial having players stance is kind of determined where the strikes own top and bottom were and they found that basic enough of height is a little bit more consistent.

[SPEAKER_01]: So it just does stand out that we're seeing a multitude of rules changes.

[SPEAKER_01]: We've seen a number of rules changes in Major League Baseball in the 2020s.

[SPEAKER_01]: Enough that I would say that this is probably the biggest changes to baseball we've seen since at least the 70s, maybe the 60s.

[SPEAKER_01]: But they're burning out, they're coming out pretty smoothly here.

[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe the man for a man still has a lot of opposition.

[SPEAKER_01]: But other than that, they have generally been embraced.

[SPEAKER_01]: And that is the Baseball America hot sheet show for today.

[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you for joining us.

[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you.

[SPEAKER_01]: And we hope that you enjoy all the minor league action that is going to be coming along to join all the major league action that we're already enjoying and the college baseball action and everything else at Baseball America.
