<v Speaker 1>Jeremy, Katy and Josh Mix one hundred.
<v Speaker 2>This is part of the show where we read a
<v Speaker 2>listener email that has come into Jeremy, Katy and Josh
<v Speaker 2>here at Mix, and then we throw open the phone
<v Speaker 2>lines and you guys get to sound off about the emails.
<v Speaker 2>Would love to talk to some of our delightful listeners
<v Speaker 2>today three oh three six nine one one Mix three
<v Speaker 2>oh three six nine one sixteen forty nine if you
<v Speaker 2>want to sound off about Casey's dilemma. Casey says, Hey, guys,
<v Speaker 2>have been dating my boyfriend for about three years and
<v Speaker 2>we've talked about marriage. We're on the same page. Everything
<v Speaker 2>is great. I've always pictured a pretty traditional engagement, down
<v Speaker 2>to the knee, the pretty ring, the basics.
<v Speaker 1>Okay, yeah, a lot of girls do that.
<v Speaker 2>Oh sure, yeah, I dreamed of it. See yeah, a
<v Speaker 2>lot of girls and Jerbank, a lot of people do that,
<v Speaker 2>she says. Last week, one of our mutual friends had
<v Speaker 2>a couple of drinks with me and act accidentally spilled
<v Speaker 2>that my boyfriend is planning to propose soon, but he's
<v Speaker 2>not getting me a ring, but instead he's planning some
<v Speaker 2>big fancy engagement trip instead, like fly me somewhere beautiful,
<v Speaker 2>whole experience, big moment, No ring. Apparently he thinks rings
<v Speaker 2>are outdated and a waste of money, and he'd rather
<v Speaker 2>spend that money on a memory together. She goes, I
<v Speaker 2>know engagement rings are expensive, but I also can't shake
<v Speaker 2>the feeling that I might be a little bit disappointed,
<v Speaker 2>And then she wrote, you guy, that's a quote. You guys,
<v Speaker 2>I feel stuck. On one hand, I love him and
<v Speaker 2>I don't want to ruin what he's planning. The fact
<v Speaker 2>that he wants to propose at all is amazing, and
<v Speaker 2>I don't want to seem ungrateful. But on the other hand,
<v Speaker 2>I want something on my hand to show off. That's
<v Speaker 2>what the ladies do, right Katie. Yeah, So she says,
<v Speaker 2>what do I do? Guys? Do I say something now?
<v Speaker 2>How risk ruining the surprise, maybe ruin and hurt his
<v Speaker 2>feelings by telling him I actually want a ring instead
<v Speaker 2>of a trip? Or do I keep quiet go on
<v Speaker 2>the trip except that this is his way of showing love,
<v Speaker 2>even if it's not exactly what I had imagined. She
<v Speaker 2>ends by saying, well, this work for your show. Wants
<v Speaker 2>to know what do you guys think? Do I speak up?
<v Speaker 2>Or stay quiet, love the show. And that's from Casey Oh,
<v Speaker 2>Casey Oh, Casey wants a ring. Yeah, So what do
<v Speaker 2>our listeners think? Phone lines are wide open if you
<v Speaker 2>guys want to call in. We love talking to you.
<v Speaker 2>Three oh three six nine one one mix three O
<v Speaker 2>three six nine one sixteen forty nine. The engagement trip
<v Speaker 2>versus the engagement ring? Is it a good idea? Should
<v Speaker 2>Casey speak up and say as is not what I want?
<v Speaker 2>I want the ring instead? Now, from what I understand,
<v Speaker 2>I was actually just reading something about this a couple
<v Speaker 2>of weeks ago. This is like a big thing amongst
<v Speaker 2>the Ziers. Yeah, is skipping the ring?
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, and just make it about experiences versus like physical
<v Speaker 3>tangible things. And it's like the whole younger generations of
<v Speaker 3>kind of have that thought process now, right. And it's
<v Speaker 3>funny because I've always kind of thought that way that
<v Speaker 3>a ring is really just a simple I mean, it
<v Speaker 3>does represent your love. I understand why people want it
<v Speaker 3>to be beautiful in something that they love, because they're
<v Speaker 3>going to stare at it all the time. But when
<v Speaker 3>it comes to what other people think about it, I
<v Speaker 3>don't think that that matters.
<v Speaker 1>After a certain point, you know what I mean.
<v Speaker 3>So if you're doing it just to like keep up
<v Speaker 3>with the Joneses type of thing, right, that's where I
<v Speaker 3>think it gets off track a little bit.
<v Speaker 1>Look for what's good for you.
<v Speaker 3>But yeah, with gen z ers, they're not just looking
<v Speaker 3>for the you know, trips and stuff instead of the rings.
<v Speaker 3>If they are getting the rings, they're a lot cheaper.
<v Speaker 3>Like they're looking for the lab grown over natural, non
<v Speaker 3>traditional choices, so not even just diamonds. So yeah, it's
<v Speaker 3>a whole new thing for the gen Z crowd.
<v Speaker 2>Well, this is definitely new to me. So if our
<v Speaker 2>listeners want to sound off about it, we would love
<v Speaker 2>to talk to you. I see the lines ringing already
<v Speaker 2>three oh three six nine one one mix three oh
<v Speaker 2>three six nine one sixteen forty nine. Should Casey speak
<v Speaker 2>up to her boyfriend and let him know that she
<v Speaker 2>kind of knows what's going on and she would rather
<v Speaker 2>have a ring, an engagement ring instead of an engagement trip.
<v Speaker 2>Let's talk to Brittany, Yvonne and Domlin. Here is britt
<v Speaker 2>britt Hi, Brittany, Hi, hey girl, So what should Casey do?
<v Speaker 4>I think she should go on the trip and enjoy
<v Speaker 4>it and then by the ring she wants for herself.
<v Speaker 2>Oh well there is that. Yeah, if you want the
<v Speaker 2>rings to get it yourself, that's not very romantic though.
<v Speaker 2>Well the trip is.
<v Speaker 4>Oh well, oh no, I got to pick out my
<v Speaker 4>own ring and fortunately my fiance did buy it. But
<v Speaker 4>it was awesome to pick out exactly what I wanted
<v Speaker 4>and not have any hesitation about wearing something that I
<v Speaker 4>have a different opinion about the design or the stone
<v Speaker 4>or anything like that.
<v Speaker 2>So she kind of gets the best of both worlds here.
<v Speaker 2>She gets a really nice trip, he gets to propose,
<v Speaker 2>she gets a fiance, and then she comes back and
<v Speaker 2>has to forcat ten thousand dollars and get herself a ring.
<v Speaker 2>Oh no, yeah.
<v Speaker 4>But then she gets to wear this jewelry and tell
<v Speaker 4>everyone she's engaged and the amazing proposal story.
<v Speaker 1>Well, in Brittany, is that super important?
<v Speaker 3>Like having, you know, been engaged now and you're getting
<v Speaker 3>ready to get married that ring in the story that's
<v Speaker 3>attached to it.
<v Speaker 1>Is that important for you to be able to tell that?
<v Speaker 4>I think the story is important because that's what you
<v Speaker 4>hold on to. I think the ring is whatever you
<v Speaker 4>make it. So if you have I mean a four
<v Speaker 4>thousand dollars ring, a one thousand dollars ring, a twenty
<v Speaker 4>dollars ring. That's kind of what you make of it.
<v Speaker 4>But that story is what would be important to me.
<v Speaker 1>Okay, okay, it.
<v Speaker 2>Was a romantic trip. Yeah, spilled his guts and how
<v Speaker 2>much he loves me, and then yeah, I think it's
<v Speaker 2>just the only thing I don't like is like when
<v Speaker 2>your girlfriends are like, show me the ring that he
<v Speaker 2>got you, yeah, and you're like, well, actually I had
<v Speaker 2>to go buy it myself.
<v Speaker 1>Well no, but she picked it out. She didn't buy it,
<v Speaker 1>she just got to Well Brittany.
<v Speaker 2>Was saying that she should go buy it herself.
<v Speaker 3>Well, if she doesn't like the one that he picked, yeah,
<v Speaker 3>go get it yourself, queen.
<v Speaker 2>Queen, all right, Brittany, I put you down to just
<v Speaker 2>go on the trip, and we got yo Vaughn Hi
<v Speaker 2>yo Vonn.
<v Speaker 5>Hello Whulu.
<v Speaker 2>So what do you think Casey should do about this
<v Speaker 2>engagement trip instead of the ring?
<v Speaker 5>I think she could actually do.
<v Speaker 2>Both another both. Okay, how's that going to work in
<v Speaker 2>your eyes?
<v Speaker 5>So go on the trip and have a good time
<v Speaker 5>and when he proposes, be very gracious, very happy. But
<v Speaker 5>when you guys go on a wole excursion, drop into
<v Speaker 5>a jewelry store of a local place and just say,
<v Speaker 5>you know, I would like something, just even if it's
<v Speaker 5>a little ring, just something to remember this moment by
<v Speaker 5>and to show everybody that I'm taking by you.
<v Speaker 2>Okay, that's like that, sneaky. I could have liked it.
<v Speaker 2>You know, as long as we're just farting around town here,
<v Speaker 2>we should just stop into a jewelry sting.
<v Speaker 1>I love that. And Yvonne, you're funny.
<v Speaker 3>It's funny because it kind of hits on the head
<v Speaker 3>of what we're saying about the gen Z crowd too,
<v Speaker 3>is they're not looking for the traditional like ten thousand
<v Speaker 3>dollars diamond solitaire there, you know, looking at the smaller
<v Speaker 3>rings that you'd find at a local shop.
<v Speaker 5>So I take that one, and then you have the
<v Speaker 5>story to go with it, and you have a memory
<v Speaker 5>always on your finger of everything that you guys did
<v Speaker 5>on that trip.
<v Speaker 2>Is the best call.
<v Speaker 1>This is such a really idea good job.
<v Speaker 6>I like it.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, all right, I got you down for going to
<v Speaker 2>the trip, but then be sneaky. Thank you for calling.
<v Speaker 2>You have a great day, Hi, Domlin.
<v Speaker 6>Hey Jeremy, how we going well?
<v Speaker 2>I'm super Dupe's buddy. Let's get a dude's point of view.
<v Speaker 2>What should Casey do here?
<v Speaker 6>They you got you gotta do the ring. I mean,
<v Speaker 6>the trip's nice. You're gonna have a trip probably when
<v Speaker 6>you know, after the wedding, you're gonna have you know,
<v Speaker 6>the trip as well then, But I mean with the
<v Speaker 6>with the ring, it's gonna be forever as well. I
<v Speaker 6>mean it's you know, and then you don't have that
<v Speaker 6>awkward thing of oh, let me see your ring, and
<v Speaker 6>you know, the whole engagement part of it as well,
<v Speaker 6>and then you know, what are you gonna do to
<v Speaker 6>not stand up at the alter and and put a
<v Speaker 6>ring on her?
<v Speaker 2>You know. It's I was thinking about that too, because well,
<v Speaker 2>there's you get two rings. You get, you get the engagement,
<v Speaker 2>then you get the wedding. So maybe he's just gonna
<v Speaker 2>he's gonna lump it into one.
<v Speaker 4>Maybe, Yeah, I.
<v Speaker 6>Mean it's yeah, I mean I I personally I think
<v Speaker 6>it's it's you know, there's a lot of Pinterest stuff.
<v Speaker 6>You can find what they want. You know, if you know,
<v Speaker 6>if you're already you're already talking about it, I'm sure
<v Speaker 6>she's gonna like send you pictures and things, and you know,
<v Speaker 6>and get the right one that that she would want anyways.
<v Speaker 6>But I don't know that. I kind of say, I
<v Speaker 6>feel it's more like the ring is for her, where
<v Speaker 6>the trip is for both of you that you know,
<v Speaker 6>yes well.
<v Speaker 3>And even like Domlin, when it comes to buying a ring,
<v Speaker 3>I mean, old school thinking is like months of wages
<v Speaker 3>should go into the cost of it because that's how
<v Speaker 3>important that person is to you. I mean that really
<v Speaker 3>is like a sign to the woman that oh my gosh,
<v Speaker 3>he did it.
<v Speaker 2>You know, he loves me. He's recording me the whole
<v Speaker 2>gamut of emotion.
<v Speaker 3>He loves me this much. You know, that's how you
<v Speaker 3>kind of gauge it. So I think when you take
<v Speaker 3>that away, there is some of that romanticizing that gets
<v Speaker 3>taken away.
<v Speaker 2>I'm so traditional, Like this is so uncomfortable for me,
<v Speaker 2>like because it's just so non traditional, you know, it
<v Speaker 2>is non traditional, and Domin I feel like, I feel
<v Speaker 2>like this guy is so non traditional even when they're
<v Speaker 2>up there, you know, in front of everybody ranging rings,
<v Speaker 2>He's not even gonna have a ring then, oh.
<v Speaker 6>Which right, everyone like that Just yeah, that's kind of
<v Speaker 6>the point.
<v Speaker 2>He's gonna give her a wedding puppy, is what he's
<v Speaker 2>gonna do.
<v Speaker 1>But I mean, we could have a wedding puppy too, Do.
<v Speaker 2>You take Casey, Yes, here's a puppy. Oh my god,
<v Speaker 2>a wedding puppy.
<v Speaker 4>Uly.
<v Speaker 5>This guy
